Request from moonwatcher142: Could u do one where Jemma either gets to meet Peggy Carter or talks to Sousa about her?
Daisy lay in the containment pod back at the Lighthouse while May and Coulson sat by her bedside. May held the girl's left hand while Coulson held her right. They wore soft, worried smiles as they watched over their adoptive daughter. Sousa and Jemma looked on, worried for the pale girl. Going against Malick had taken a lot out of her, but thankfully Kora was able to revive the girl they all held close to their hearts.
"She'll be okay, you know." Simmons shifted her gaze to Daniel, whose arms were crossed and his eyebrows furrowed.
"I know. She's strong, she reminds me of someone I used to know." He said, never taking his eyes off of Daisy.
"Peggy Carter." Simmons nodded, then realized it was probably a sensitive subject for the man out of time. "Oh, I'm sorry. That's probably not something you want to discuss."
"No, no. I don't mind." He quieted and focused his thoughts on the young woman lying in a hospital bed. He'd loved Peggy Carter, and he probably always would, but now his heart had been taken by a beautiful, strong superhero. However, the sight of Daisy in a hospital bed reminded him of Peggy. They were so similar, yet so different.
"Before she was Director, Peggy was my partner, and not just in the field. She was strong, didn't let anyone shake her confidence. She always got her way, not because she was spoiled, but because she worked for it."
"It must've been extraordinary to fight by her side." Simmons commented, completely soaking up anything he said about her life-long hero. Sousa nodded, eyes still trained on Daisy.
"It was. When I first met her I remember falling for her, even if I didn't want to admit it. The way she carried herself was remarkable, the strongest, most clever woman I knew. She nearly died a number of times, but always managed to fight her way back to the top." Sousa frowned and took a deep breath. Simmons tore her eyes away from her best friend and placed a gentle hand on Sousa's shoulder.
"Daisy will do the same." She reassured him. "I've seen her do it plenty of times, too many times for my liking, but she's strong."
"I know. Thank you. She reminds me of Peggy in that way, they're fighters. Stubborn as I'll get out, but amazing women none-the-less." Sousa smiled and finally took his eyes off of Daisy to glance between May and Coulson. "So, what's the deal between the three of them? Daisy speaks very highly of both Agent May and Agent Coulson, but I've heard about Daisy's biological parents, so are they her adoptive parents?"
"Yes." Simmons said without hesitation. "They didn't raise her per say, but they trained her and are a large part of who she is today. We met her when she was young and living alone in a van. Coulson immediately bonded with her and fell into that fatherly role, with all of us really. May taught her how to fight, she was Daisy's S.O. Sometimes it's quite easy to forget that she's not biologically theirs, she's so much like them. She barely held herself together after Coulson died, and then she almost lost May and that was devastating."
"They've been through a lot together."
"Oh yes, we all have. I know she'll be okay, but it's hard to see her like this so often." Simmons brushed a tear from her cheek, memories from the past flooding her mind.
"I hope I never have to see her like this again, but I'm glad she has so many people to look after her." Sousa commented with a soft smile. He knew that the relationship between Daisy, May, and Coulson was special, but the more he learned about them, the more obvious it became that they were a tight-knit family.
"Yes, and now she has you too." Simmons smiled and Sousa nodded.
"That she does."
