-Mary pov-
I'm standing outside watching my ex husband and his new boyfriend work. I took time off from the studio for this. They got here yesterday and worked all day.
They've have been at this since 8 this morning. It's currently 12 and they have a frame up. They brought a team with them. Apparently they have branches of their company and one is here.
I just want this to be done. The quicker it is means the quicker they are gone. I don't have to share anything with them. I am more than happy for that moment to happen.
"Mary" Donald looks at me "Glaring doesn't make me leave quicker"
"Worth a shot" He walks over and I point to the building "Turn back!"
"We aren't building a house" My jaw drops and I feel anger build "I talked with your fiancés and everyone else! We are building a small pool house and expanding the pool"
"That's not what I brought you for!" I poke his chest hard "What the hell do you think you are doing?! You can't ever just take one command! You always have to go behind my back! You never can just listen to me can you?! You always know better don't you?!"
"Janine was the main one to ask us for this" I feel the anger leave and my finger falls "I don't wanna cause issue Mar ok? I know I haven't been sending letters like I promised...we hit a hitch in California"
I give him a confused look "Hitch?" He nods "What hitch could you hit? You've expanded to New York!"
"A guy fell off a roof recently" Donald sighs "We have been battling three lawsuits from them and the family...it's been a nightmare and money's been tight while we get a lawyer and try to settle it"
"I'll talk to my fiancés and you build the house ok?" He nods with a smile "I'm still not happy with the pain you've given Shelby over no letters! That wasn't fair to her"
"I'll tell her" He puts a hand on my shoulder "Thanks Mar"
"Yeah yeah" I point to the building "Pool house and pool won't make themselves"
"Of course not" He chuckles and gives my shoulder a squeeze "You've done good Mar"
"Thanks" I sigh and give him a genuine smile finally "You've done good for yourself too Donny"
"I bet that killed you" I slap his shoulder and he laughs "Same spitfire"
"Same idiot" We both laugh "I'll go get you all some drinks and sandwiches made"
"No crust?" I raise a eyebrow and he chuckles "Anything Will do"
-Rachel pov-
"Alright class!" We all look up at mom "We have a live college try out! We are probably gonna accept her but we want her to try!"
"I wonder who this is" I feel my jaw drop when I see Dani "NO! She's trying to take down Cassandras dance class!"
"Rachel!" I glare at my mom who makes me shrink with one of her glares "She has reasons you don't need to know! So be quiet and let her sing!"
"I'm Dani" She pushes a strand of hair behind her ear "I'm..I'm going to try my best"
Dani takes a deep breath before strumming on her guitar.

"Well done!" Everyone but me claps "Welcome to the theater class! Take a seat next to Rachel"
"I..ok" she slowly walks down and over to the seat beside me "I'm sorry"
"She'll yell at us both if you don't sit" she sits down and sits her guitar beside her "Why are you here? Brody send you to spy?"
"If you mean he kicked me, punched me, cheated on me, and left me homeless than yes" Dani looks at me with a sad expression "He sent me here"
"I'm sorry" She nods and turns away "You know...it'll take a bit before I can trust you or anything but..as long as you swear you aren't going to do anything then ill try and be your friend"
"You make it sound like a chore" I smile as she lets out a chuckle "That sounds great to me! I could honestly use a friend right now...could we exchange numbers? My diner money pays for my phone right now so it's still on"
"YOU TWO!" We both jump and look at my mom "I'm glad to see you two are so buddy buddy! Now get up and sing!"
"Bring your guitar" I stand up "I have the piano"
She gets up and I lead us to the stage. Mom has a rule in this room. If you can talk during the lesson, you can sing to learn your lesson. If it's well enough the class ends early.
Many have tried and all have failed. I don't fail though so here it goes. After 30 tries we win as student. I push the keys on the piano and nod to Dani.

"You all have tried to get this class ended early so many times now" Mom sighs "That one was finally the best duet...you are dismissed!"
The club cheers and runs out "You are good" Dani smiles "You know we have a pool house being built...if you can ensure you aren't lying and spying...I think we could get a bed put in there with some things"
"Really?" She looks at mom who nods with a smile "THANK YOU!"
She pulls me into a hug and squeezes. She's the one who breaks it up with a pained expression. I give her a worried look and she raises her shirt. My eyes go wide at the bruises.
I make eye contact with her and she nods. I lightly hover over the biggest bruise with my fingers. The lightest touch makes her jump. I look at my fingers and so no makeup.
"Get your things" I stand up and look her in the eyes "You'll be coming with us"
-Time skip-
"So we are just gonna have to live with her now?" I elbow Santana who pouts "You know I can't fight back!"
"I just got a sling and wraps" She glares and I smile before looking back at Brittany talking to a eating Dani "She needs a home and we could use help"
"She's staying" Maribel walks over "Thats that! Now which one of you need changed?"
Things are gonna be tense and odd for a hit. I just hope they don't stay that way.
