Hello my dear dear readers. First off, I'm so so so sorry it has been so long since I have updated. Life has gotten extremely crazy this past year. New house, new jobs, and most important a new baby who has been taking up most of my time. But I'm back. I'm going to keep trying to upload but life is still busy so I'll do my best. Hopefully no more big breaks again. I missed writing and I'm so glad to be back. Thank you so much for reading and hope you enjoy!
Harper's POV
I had to think of something; the Doctor was getting depressed without a new companion to show the universe too. I made my way quickly to the console room to see if the Doctor was ready for another adventure.
"Hey, Doc. You ready to go?" I asked seeing him messing with the TARDIS controls.
"Yep, just about to take off. There is something odd going on in London at a company called Adipose Industries. I thought we'd go and check it out."
"Sounds good to me." I stopped all of the sudden. I didn't have my watch. "Umm, I just need to get something really quick." I turned to my jacket that was still on the jump seat where I left it. I reached in the pocket but felt nothing.
I started to panic just a little bit as I started to look around the jump seat. I heard the Doctor come up behind me and asked, "Looking for something."
"Umm… yeah. It's just this old trinket thing. No biggie." I lie and when I turned around, I saw the Doctor holding up the fob watch. "Oh," was all I said.
"Can you explain?" He asked, not looking mad but a bit disappointed, which made it so much worse.
I sighed heavily and sat down. "You remember that year, the year that never was, when I was with the Master," I asked and he gave a nodded. "Well, he gave it to me when I was still his prisoner. He said that I was really a Time Lady and that back before the Time War had ended, he made me regenerate, he couldn't have you recognizing me. And then hooked me up to a Chameleon arch and sent me to what I thought was my Universe."
"So that means…" The Doctor started and I finished for him, "yeah, I'm a Time Lady and we knew each other before this happened." I looked down at my feet not knowing what else to say.
"Why didn't you tell me," he asked coming closer and tilting my head up to look at him.
"I was scared. What if I am a bad person like the Master? What if I hurt you? What if we don't like each other after I open it? What if…"
"Hey, stop that," the Doctor said stopping me as I started to cry. He pulled me in for a hug and said, "We will figure it out, okay? We don't have to do anything right now."
I didn't say anything just nodded my head as I held him tightly. I couldn't risk lose him, not even to get back to who I was supposed to be.
Third Person POV
Without any of them knowing, both Donna and the Doctor and Harper were on their way to the same company.
Donna walked quickly and confidently in through the front door, while the Doctor and Harper, with the help of the sonic screwdriver, went in through the back door.
"Donna Noble, health and safety," Donna told a guard holding up a fake ID card and walked on into the room.
"John and Harper Smith, health and safety," the Doctor told a guard holding up the psych paper, as him and Harper made their way farther into Adipose Industries.
"Adipose Industries, the 21st century way to lose weight," the head of the company said as she led the presentation in front of reporters. Donna sat among the reporters listening. "No exercise, no diet, no pain, just lifelong freedom from fat; the holy grail of the modern age. And here it is," She said holding up a pill. "You just take one capsule, one capsule once a day for three weeks, and the fat as they say…"
"The fat just walks away," was played over the loud speakers.
"Excuse me, Miss Foster," a reporter interrupted. "If I could? I'm Penny Carter, science correspondent for the Observer. There are a thousand diet pills on the market, a thousand conmen stealing people's money. How do we know the fat isn't going straight into your bank account?"
"Oh, Penny, if cynicism burnt off calories, we'd all be as thin as rakes. But if you want the science, I can oblige."
Then a video started to play, "Adipose Industries. The Adipose capsule is composed of a synthesized, mobilizing lipase, bound to a large protein molecule. The mobilizing lipase breaks up the triglycerides stored in the adipose cells, which then enter…"
The Doctor and Harper were in the film box watching from afar when a worker came up to them. "Health and safety," the Doctor said without thinking to which Harper added, "Film Department."
"100% legal, 100% effective," Miss Foster said.
"But can I just ask, how many people have taken the pills to date?" Penny asked.
"We've already got 1,00,000 customers within the Greater London area alone, but from next week, we start rolling out nationwide. The future starts here, and Britain will be thin."
Harper's POV
I was waiting off to the side for the Doctor. We had agreed that two of us would be too much when questioning the workers so I was waiting on the Doctor, but still listening to what was going on.
"We deliver within three working days…" the worker said over the phone as the Doctor got to her cubicle.
"John Smith, health and safety," I saw the Doctor holding up the physic paper again. "Don't mind me."
"It's made of 18 carat gold and it's yours for free," the worker said talking about the pill shaped necklace the Doctor was messing with. "No, we don't give away pens. Sorry. No, I can't make an exception. No."
After a few more minutes talking the Doctor asked for a list of customers and where the printer was. I was shocked to see Donna Noble popped up and ask about the printer also. Unfortunately, the Doctor didn't see her because they keep missing either other.
"Which plant? That plant?" Donna asked as she popped up looking for the printer.
"Yeah, that's the one," the worker told her and she replied "Lovely," before sitting back down.
"That's the printer there?" The Doctor asked as he popped up looking.
"By the plant, yeah," the worker told him.
"Brilliant!"
Donna popped up right after the Doctor sat back down, "Does it need a code? Last place I worked; the printer needed a code."
I was having a hard time not laughing at what was happening. "No, I can do it from here."
And once more down went Donna but this time the Doctor just asked, not getting up, "has it got paper?"
"Yeah, Jimbo keeps it stocked."
"Excuse me everyone," Miss Foster said coming into the room. Everyone stood up while I ducked down hiding. "If I could have your attention. On average, you're each selling 40 Adipose packs per day. That's not enough. I want 100 sales per person per day. And if not, you'll be replaced, cause if anyone's good at trimming the fat, it's me. Now, back to it."
'Wow, someone is a little intense,' I thought.
'Just a bit, yeah. I'd hate to work for her.' The Doctor thought back and I laughed thinking, 'you'd hate to work for anyone. You hate to work.'
'Oi!' was all I got back. "Anyway," the Doctor said to the worker getting back to business. "If you could print that off, thanks."
"Lovely," Donna said standing up. "Thanks, then. See ya."
"Thanks, then." The Doctor standing up but the worker pulled him back down. "Oh, what's that?" He asked when she handed him a piece of paper.
"My telephone number."
"What for?" I almost laughed at the Doctor response. 'Doctor, why would a girl give a guy her number? Think about it!' I thought while laughing.
"Health and safety. You be health, I'll be safety."
"Oh, ah…" Doctor was lost for words but finally said, "But that contravenes paragraph 5, subsection C. Sorry."
He went over to the printer and looked around. 'It's not here,' he thought.
'What if someone accidentally took it,' I thought back knowing Donna probably got it.
'I got to go back, don't I?'
'Yep! Go get her, tiger!'
"Not helping.' The Doctor walked over and had the cheesiest smile on his face and said "me again."
The Doctor's POV
Harper and I picked a person at random to go and ask questions. "Mr. Roger Davey, we're calling on behalf of Adipose Industries." I said holding up the physic paper.
"Do you mind if we come in and ask you a few questions?" Harper asked.
Roger was very nice and let us in so we started asking, "How long have you been taking Adipose?" Harper asked.
"I've been on the pills two weeks now. I've lost 14 kilos," Roger said.
"That's the same amount every day?" I asked.
"One kilo exactly. You wake up, and it's disappeared overnight. Well, technically speaking, it's gone by ten past one in the morning."
"What?" Harper asked the same time I asked, "What make you say that?"
"That's when I get woken up. Might as well weigh myself at the same time," Roger said telling us the story. "It's driving me mad. Ten minutes past one, every night, bang on the dot, without fail, the burglar alarm goes off. I've had experts in, I've had it replaced, I've even phoned watchdog. But no, ten past one in the morning, off it goes."
We were now outside looking at the alarm and I asked, "But with no burglar?"
"Nothing, I've given up looking."
"Tell me, Roger, have you got a cat flap?"
We went back in and Roger and I got down looking at the flap while Harper stayed standing up.
"It was here when I bought the house. I never bothered with it really. I'm not a cat person."
"No, I've met cat people. You're nothing like them," I said and heard Harper laugh lightly behind me, knowing what I was talking about.
"Is that what it is, though, cats getting inside the house?" Roger asked.
"Well, thing about cat flaps is they don't just let things in, they let things out as well," Harper said.
"Like what?" Roger asked looking back at her.
"The Fat just walks away," I quoted.
Harper's POV
"Well, thanks for your help," the Doctor told Roger as we stepped out of the house. "Tell you what, maybe you could lay off the pills for a week or so."
A beeping came from the Doctor's jacket and he pulled out one of his weird devices. I quickly turned to Roger saying, "Gotta go, sorry!"
And with that the Doctor and I took off running. I wasn't sure where we were going or how the Doctor was even reading that device but he seemed to have it under control.
We were still running when the Doctor stopped and hit his device. "Stopped working?" I asked.
"Nope, got it. Come on." The Doctor said running again. I whined a little but then quickly followed after him.
The Doctor ran into the middle of the road and I pulled him back just in time as a van was about to hit him. But then the device let out a loud sound and off he went again.
"Did we lose it?" I asked when the Doctor stopped running.
"Yeah, I think so. Come on let's go back to the TARDIS and start again tomorrow," the Doctor said taking my hand and leading me back home.
We were both in the TARDIS; the Doctor was working on the Adipose necklace while I was trying to not to fall asleep on the jump seat.
"Oh, fascinating. Seems to be a bio-flip digital stitch specifically for…" he trailed off.
"For what?" I asked trying to look more interested.
"No, it's not the same. You're used to being here. When… well it doesn't matter."
"It matters." I said getting up and going over to give him a hug. "The TARDIS feels so empty without someone else here."
"It does, but at least we have each other," The Doctor said turning around to face me. "And that won't change."
"Nope, never, you're stuck with me mister. For now, and forever, so get used to it."
He smiled at me before launching into a long explanation about the capsule; most of which I didn't understand.
We were heading back to Adipose Industries, using the TARDIS this time. The Doctor parked her in an alleyway next to Adipose and went back to the entrance we went in the first time.
This time we had to wait until they closed down; meaning we had to hide in a closet for a couple of hours. Which was very difficult with the Doctor, he gets bored easily.
Finally, it was all quite as the employees had left the building. We left the closet and headed for the roof. The Doctor got into the lift holding out a hand for me. "Come on, we need to go down."
I groaned saying, "But I hate heights."
"Don't worry, I got you. Nothing will happen, I promise."
I grabbed his hand and stepped in. "You're lucky you're cute, or I wouldn't be doing this."
He just smiled big and said, "Going down."
We stopped right in front of the head of Adipose Industries office. We quickly got down as Miss Foster walked in with her two body guards who were leading in Penny, the reporter we saw the day before.
"This is ridiculous," Penny said but Miss Foster just simply said "sit there." The Doctor got out a stethoscope to listen while I just listened in through our connection.
"I'm phoning my editor."
"I said, sit," Miss Foster said and one of the body guards pushed Penny down into the seat and started to tie her up.
"You can't tie me up. What sort of a country do you think this is?"
"Oh, it's a beautifully fat country," Miss Foster said. "And believe me, I've travelled a long way to find obesity on this scale."
"So, come on then, Miss Foster, those pills, what are they?"
"Well, you might as well have a scoop, since you'll never see it printed." The doctor brought the end of the stethoscope to the window to hear better. "This is the spark of life."
"And what's that supposed to mean?" Penny questioned.
"Officially, the capsule attracts all the fat cells and flushes them away. Well, it certainly attracts them, that part's true. But it binds the fat together and galvanizes it to form a body."
I looked at the Doctor and he looked back at me both of us wondering what she meant.
"What do you mean, a body?"
"I am surprised you never asked about my name. I chose it well. Foster, as in 'Foster Mother'. And these, are my children."
The Doctor and I slow got up to see what she was talking about. On her disk was a small blob shaped creature. It was cute but a little odd.
"Are you kidding me? I don't… what is that?" Penny said trying to understand.
"Adipose," Miss Foster said coming around to the front of the disk. "It's called an Adipose, made out of living fat."
The Doctor took off his stethoscope as we watched what was going on.
"I don't understand."
"From ordinary human people…" Miss Foster started but I stopped listen when both the Doctor and I looked up to see Donna looking surprise but happy at us from the window in the doorway. "Donna?" The Doctor said out loud.
"Doctor! Harper!" Donna mouthed excitedly.
"But… w... w… what?" The Doctor mouthed back not sure how she got there.
"Oh… my… goosh!" Donna mouthed getting super excited.
"How?" The Doctor mouthed again as I laughed happily.
"It's me!" Donna said pointing at herself.
"Yes, we can see that." I mouthed and signed back to her.
"Oh, this is brilliant!" Donna mouthed giving us two thumbs up.
"What are you doing there?" The Doctor mouthed pointing at her.
"I was looking for you!" She mouthed gesturing to us.
"What for?"
"I read it. On the internet." She was going too fast for either of us to really know what she was saying. "Is weird. Crept along… heard them talking. You! Cause th…" Donna stopped suddenly when we all noticed Miss Foster was watching us.
"Are we interrupting up?" Miss Foster asked and then the Doctor mouthed "Run" to Donna with a nodded of his head.
Donna ran but Miss Foster said, "Get her," to her body guards so the Doctor used his sonic screwdriver to lock the door. "And them," went she said this the Doctor made us go back up the way we came from.
We quickly got out of the lift running for the door. "I'm glad to see Donna again but I didn't understand I thing she was saying."
"I agree. Not sure what she doing her but this makes it much more fun," the Doctor said.
"You call this fun?" I asked as we ran down the stairs as fast as we could. He just laughed.
The Doctor's POV
We turned the corner only to run into Donna on her way up. "Oh, my!" She said giving us both big hugs. "I don't believe it. You've even got the same suit. Don't' you ever change?" She said causing Harper to laugh.
"Yeah, thanks, Donna, not right now." We heard the body guard and Miss Foster coming up the stairs so I smiled at her saying, "Just like old times."
We ran back to the lift Harper and I had used as Donna talked, "Cause I thought, 'How do you find the Doctor?' And then I just thought, 'Look for trouble, and then he'll turn up'."
"That usually works," Harper said smiling as I got to work on the lift.
"So, I looked everywhere, you name it. UFOs sightings, crop circles, sea monsters. I looked, I found them all. That stuff about the bees disappearing, I thought, I bet he's connected."
'Bees disappearing?' Harper thought questioning the same thing as me.
"Cause the thing is, Doctor, I believe it all now. You opened my eyes to all those amazing things out there. I believe them all. Well, apart from that replica of the Titanic flying over Buckingham Palace on Christmas Day. That's got to be a hoax."
"What do you mean, the bees are disappearing?" I asked.
"I don't know. That's what it says on the internet. On the same site, there was all these conspiracy theories about Adipose Industries, and I thought, let's take a look." While Donna talked Harper and I got into the lift.
"Get in!" I told her.
"What, in that thing?" Donna asked.
"Yes, in that thing," Harper said with a laugh.
"But if we go down in that, they'll just call us back up again."
'Blimey, I forget she could argue,' I thought and Harper thought back, 'and you said I was bad.'
'No you are but Donna's on another level.'
"Oi," Harper said out loud. I ignored her, telling Donna, "no, no, I locked the controls with a sonic cage. I'm the only one that can control it." Donna started to get in finally. "Not unless she's got a sonic device of her own, which is very unlikely."
"Oh, why did you have to say that?" Harper said sighing heavily.
We started to go down slowly, I just hoped we made it in time. Suddenly, the lift started to go down at a lot faster speed sending us falling down. The girls were both trying to hang on and I got out the sonic to stop us. We stopped but were still very high up.
"Ugh, what were you saying about unlikely, Doctor?" Harper asked from where she was laying down breathing fast.
"Not a word," I say not wanting to hear the 'I told you so' I knew was coming. We all got up and I saw we were in front of a window. "Hold on! Hold on, we can go in through the window. I can't get it open!" I was trying to sonic it but it was deadlocked.
"Smash it, then!" Donna said holding up a wrench. I kept trying as Donna was trying to break it open and Harper was trying to push it up. "She's cutting the cable!" Donna cried and I looked up.
Smoke and flames were breaking the left cable. Then the lift's left side fell cause Donna and Harper to go flying that way. Donna got ahold of the cable while Harper got ahold of Donna's leg.
"Harper, Donna!"
"Doctor!" They both cried.
"Hold on!" I yelled down to them.
"I am!" Donna yelled back while Harper yelled, "What else would I be doing?"
"Doctor!" Donna called. I couldn't pull the cable up with both of them hanging on to it. I turned to go to the other side looking up at Miss Foster just waiting for the right time. Right when she started to use her sonic to cut the other side, I used mine to get the sonic out of her hand. She dropped it and I reached back catching it as it fell.
I climbed up to another window using Miss Foster's sonic to open the window.
"I'm gonna fall!" Donna called and Harper quickly said, "Don't do that, or I go too!"
'Please hurry a little faster, sweetie.' Harper thought back.
'I'm trying, love.' I thought, 'It's not as if I'm taking my time here.'
"This is all your fault. I should have stayed at home." Donna said.
"Donna, stop moving around!" Harper huffed out.
"I won't be a minute," I called to them as I climbed through the now open window.
Harper's POV
I was having trouble hanging on to Donna's leg as she was moving around so much. "Donna, the Doctor will be right back, just please hold still."
"Hold still, hold still, we're hanging from a cable on the side of a building and you want me to hold still."
"Point taken."
"But you to seem good this time around," Donna suddenly said changing moods fast.
"Oi, not the time or the place to be talking about personal stuff. Oh, and there he is," I said seeing the Doctor run into Miss Foster's office.
"Is anyone going to tell me what's going on?" Penny asked as she was still tied up in there.
"What are you, a journalist?" He asked coming to the window.
"Yes."
"Well, make it up!" He said as he opened the window. "Harper."
"Doctor," I said as he helped me into the room.
He grabbed Donna's legs and she yelled, "Get off!"
"I've got you; I've got you. Donna, stop kicking!"
I laughed lightly watching them but finally the Doctor got her inside.
"I was right. It's always like this with you two, isn't it?"
"Oh, yes. And off we go!" The Doctor said as he grabbed my hand running from the room.
"Oi!" Penny yelled. So, the Doctor poke his head back into the room sonicing the ropes around her saying, "Sorry, now do yourself a favor, get out!"
We ran into the main working area but unfortunately ran into Miss Foster and her two body guards. "Well, then. At last," she said.
"Hello," Donna said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Harper" I said and the Doctor added, "I'm the Doctor."
"And I'm Donna."
"Partners in crime." We all looked at each other before turning back to Miss Foster. "And evidently off-worlders, judging by your sonic technology."
"Oh, yes. I've still got your sonic pen." The Doctor said pulling it out of his jacket. "Nice, I like it. Sleek."
He showed it to Donna and I and I said, "It's kind of sleek." And Donna added, "Oh, it's definitely sleek."
"And if you were to sign your real name, that would be?" I asked.
"Matron Cofelia of the Five-Straighten Classabindi Nursery Fleet. Intergalactic class."
"Long title," I said as the Doctor commented, "A wet nurse. Using humans as surrogates."
"I've been employed by the Adiposian First Family to foster a new generation after their breeding planet was lost."
"What do you mean, lost? How do you lose a planet?" The Doctor asked.
"Oh, the politics are none of my concern. I'm just here to take care of the children on behalf of the parents."
"What, like an outer space super-nanny?" Donna asked causing me to laugh.
"Yes, if you like."
"So… so those little things, they're made out of fat, yeah? But that woman, Stacy Campbell, then was nothing left of her," Donna said.
"Oh, in a crisis, that adipose can convert bone and hair and internal organs. It makes them a little bit sick, poor things."
"What about poor Stacy?" Donna asked stepping forward.
"Seeding a level five planet is against galactic law," the Doctor said.
"Are you threatening me?"
"We're trying to help you, Matron," I said and the Doctor said, "This is your one chance. Cause if you don't call this off, then I'll have to stop you."
"I hardly think you can stop bullets." Right when she said this the two body guards pointed their guns at us.
I pulled Donna behind me and the Doctor pulled us behind him and said, "No, hold on, hold on, hold on! Once more thing, before dying. Do you know what happens if you hold two identical sonic devices against each other?"
"No."
"Nor me. Let's find out," he said before pointing both at each other cause a horrible noise to fill the room. Miss Foster and the guards fell to the ground and glass around us shattered. Donna and I were trying to bloke out the sound but it was impossible.
Donna pushed him stopping the sound and yelled, "Come on." We took off running.
The Doctor's POV
We ran all the way to the closet Harper and I had used the first time. We started to clean it out while Donna said, "Well, that's one solution, hiding in a cupboard. I like it."
"Been hacking into this thing all day cause the Matron's got a computer core running through the center of the building," I said opening up the back wall. "Triple-dead locked. But now I've got this," I said holding up Miss Foster's sonic. "I can get into it. She's wired up the whole building. We need a bit of privacy." I said as I held some wires together to send a shock to stop the body guards. "Just enough to stop them. Why has she wired up a tower block? What's it all for?"
We were getting to work, I was handing Harper some wires to hold when Donna said, "You two look older."
"Thanks," I replied.
"Still just the two of you?"
"Yeah, well, no," Harper answered and I explained. "We had this friend, Martha. She was called Martha Jones. She was brilliant. And I destroyed half her life." Harper put a hand on my shoulder in a comforting way. "But she's fine, she's good. She's gone."
"What about Rose?"
I felt Harper tensed up when she said this, Rose was still something she blamed herself for.
"Still lost," I said. "I thought you were going to travel the world."
"Easier said than done," Donna said. "It's like I had that one day with you, and woke up the next morning… same old life. It's like you were never there. And I tired… I did try. I went to Egypt. I was going to go barefoot and everything. And then it's all bus trips and guidebooks and "Don't' drink the water" and two weeks later you're back home. It's nothing like being with you. I must have been mad turning down that offer."
"What offer?" I asked as Harper let out an annoyed sigh.
"To come with you."
"Come with me?" I asked but Donna took it as another offer saying, "Oh, yes, please!"
"Right," I said but before I could say anything else the computer said, "Inducer activated."
"What's it doing now?" Donna asked.
"She's started the program," Harper said.
"Inducer transmitting."
"So far they're just losing weight, but the Matron's gone up to emergency parthenogenesis." I told the girls.
"And that's when they convert…" I finished for Donna, "Skeletons, organs, everything. 1,000,000 people are going to die." I pulled out the necklace that they gave to their customers. "I've got to cancel the signal. This contains the primary signal. If I can switch it off, the fat goes back to being just fat."
"Inducer increasing."
"No!" Harper said as I said, "No, no, no! She's doubled it. I need… I haven't got time. It's too far. I can't override it. They're all going to die."
"Is there anything I can do?" Donna asked calmly.
"Sorry, Donna, this is way beyond you. I've got to double the base pulse. I can't…"
"Doctor, tell me, what do you need?" Donna said.
"I need a second capsule to boost the override, but I've only got the one. I can't save them."
Harper tapped me on the shoulder, so I looked over and Donna was holding up another capsule. We all laughed for a second before I got to work shutting down the signal.
We heard a strange sound from above and Donna asked, "What is that?"
I quickly explained what it was and Donna said, 'Wait a minute. When you say 'nursery' you don't mean a creche in Notting Hill."
"Nursery ship," Harper said. But then the computer came back on.
"Oh, oh, wait a minute," I said as the computer said, "Incoming signal."
"Hadn't we better go and stop them?" Donna asked.
"Hold on, hold on, hold on. Instructions from the Adiposian First Family. She's wired up the tower block to convert it into a levitation post… ooh! Oh! We're not the ones in trouble now, she is."
"Come on!" Harper said grabbing my hand running from the room with Donna hot on our heels.
"What are you gonna do, then? Blow 'em up?" Donna asked as we watch the baby Adipose levitate up to the ship.
"They're just children. They can't help where they came from," I said.
"Oh, well, that makes a change from last time. That Martha must have done you good."
"Yeah, she did," Harper said.
We started to wave at the Adipose that waved bye to us and Donna said, "I'm waving at fat."
"Actually, as a diet plan, it sort of works," I said and Harper commented, "I'd do it."
"No, no, no you don't need it." She smiled big at me and I would have said something else but the Matron caught my eye as she levitated up. "There she is! Matron Cofelia, listen to me!"
"Oh, I don't think so, Doctor. And if I never see you again, it'll be too soon."
"Why does no one ever listen? I'm trying to help! Just get across to the roof. Can you shift the levitation beam?" I asked.
"What, so that you can arrest me?"
"Just listen, I saw the Adipose instructions. They know it's a crime, breeding on Earth. So, what's the one thing they want to get rid of? Their accomplice."
"I'm far more than that. I'm nanny to all these children."
"Exactly. Mum and dad have got the kids now. They don't need the nanny anymore," Harper said but it was too late. The levitation beam was cut off and Matron fell. Donna hide her face turning into me while Harper closed her eyes. But both of them looked up at the nursery ship flew away.
We walked out of the building, police were everywhere, and I took the Matron's sonic out of my pocket and through it in the trash. "Hey, I could have used that." Harper complained.
"Why, I have one and you always with me."
She snorted out a laugh, "Always? You make it sound like I can't go anywhere alone." But she was smiling so I knew she was okay with that.
"Oi! You three." Penny called. She was still tied up in the chair but was walking around trying to get away. "You're just mad. Do you hear me? Mad. And I'm going to report you for… madness."
"Some people just can't take it," Donna said and I agreed, "No."
"And some people can. So then, TARDIS. Come on!" Donna grabbed my hand pulling me to where the TARDIS was leaving Harper to follow laughing at us.
I was walking to the TARDIS when Donna cried, "That's my car! That is like destiny. And I've been ready for this. I packed ages ago," She open the trunk of her car pulling out suitcases, "just in case. Cause I thought, 'hot weather, cold weather, no weather'. They go anywhere. I've got the be prepared." She handed me two bags and then put a hat box on top.
"You've got a… a hatbox," I said and Harper was laughing at me.
"Planet of the Hats, I'm ready! I don't need injections, do I?" She asked standing in the door way of the TARDIS while all of her bags were around me. "You know like when you go to Cambodia, is there any of that? Cause my friend Veena went to Bahrain and she… you're not saying much."
"No, it's just… it's a funny old life, in the TARDIS." I said and saw both Donna's and Harper faces fall.
"You don't want me."
"I'm not saying that."
"But you asked me. Would you rather it just be you two?"
"No," I said quickly putting down her stuff. "Actually, no. But… last time, with Martha." I didn't finish what I was saying and then added, "I… I just want a mate."
"You just want to mate!" Donna said offended and Harper thought, 'You want to mate? What and with me right here.'
"I just want 'a' mate," I emphasized for both of them.
"You're not mating with me, sunshine!" Donna said still not getting it while Harper was laughing so hard, she was having to lean on the TARDIS for support.
"A mate. I want a mate."
"Well, just as well, because I'm not having any of that nonsense. I mean, you're just a long streak of nothing. You know, alien nothing."
"There we are, then, okay," I said.
"I can come?" She asked hopeful.
"Yeah, of course you can, yeah," Harper said and I added, "We'd love it."
"That's just… car keys," Donna said out of nowhere.
"What?" We both asked.
"I've still got my mum's car keys. I won't be a minute."
"Well then, chop chop with the bags," Harper said going inside the TARDIS.
"What no help," I asked. And she smiled coming back out giving me a kiss and then turning to go back in. "Well, I guess that okay too." I said smiling as I grabbed the bags.
"Off we go, then." Donna said coming back into the TARDIS.
"Here it is, the TARDIS," I said as Harper and I stood in front of the console. "It's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside…"
"Oh, I know all that bit. Although, frankly, you could turn the heating up." She complained and Harper said, "Oh I know, I tell him that all the time. But I think he does it on purpose."
'Of course, I do it on purpose,' I thought. 'How else would I get you to cuddle all the time?' Harper blushed bright red as I said out loud, "So… whole wide universe. Where do you want to go?"
"Oh, I know exactly the place."
"Which is?" Harper asked.
"Two and a half miles that way," Donna said looking behind herself.
I piloted the TARDIS just to the place as we looked down seeing Donna grandfather. He got excited and started yelling before looking into his telescope seeing Donna waving.
"Thank you," Donna said once she shut the door. "So where am I to be sleeping inside this box."
"Oh, I'll show you to your room. I had the TARDIS fix it up for you after last time just in case we ever met again." Harper said passing me to go up the stairs.
"You know," Donna started, "You two would make a great couple. I can see it now; a forbidden romance. Oh, it's a shame he's an alien and you're a human." She kept talking as Harper lead her from the room.
"Oh, what a shame it is," I heard Harper say trying not to laugh.
'Oi, what shame?' I asked. 'We have to tell her we are together.'
'Oh, come on. This is going to be so much fun. How long will it take for her to figure it out? It is Donna so it could be a while. And how are we going to find out more about this forbidden romance?'
It only took Donna until the next morning to figure it out, but when you're caught snogging it's kinda hard to deny it.
So, what did you think? I'm already working hard on the next chapter and hope to have it up in the next week or two. Thank you again for reading my story. I love it and I'm glad it brings joy to you guys.
