Harry smile softly as he pretended to drink the strange new blue fruit flavoured drink the House Elves had started serving at meal times in the great hall. His beloved mate sat next to him with the other seventh year lions looking at him with an emerald green coloured stone attached to a silver chain. After being forced to go shopping with his Aunt Petunia for years to carry her bags Harry had gained a good eye for Jewellery.
"Do you like this jewellery? I got it from one of those street market sellers that came from the city to Hogsmade. The emerald green stone reminded me of your eyes," Bane said softly with a slight blush as he held out the offered piece of jewellery to a knowing Harry. "Do you like it?"
"Like it? I love it you chose a really nice piece of jewellery for me," Harry replied with a smile, he placed his cup down and bit the inside of his cheek. It hurt him to mislead his beloved mate like this but he did not want the rare blush or shy smile to disappear off of his face. "How did you even know what to get me to stop voicemail dooming us all?"
As Harry spoke his last words several of the girls winced in pity as they all knew what it was. It was a code from a muggle TV show called Dr. Who, voicemail dooms us all, to let those in the know that the person's lover had tried their best and gone out of their way to do something special for the person who said the code only for it to not really work out. In this case the piece of jewellery that Bane had presented to Harry was fake yet due to the thought and effort that the other Centaur had put into finding and choosing the piece nothing was to be said. Later through, there would be a witch hunt for the person who sold Bane the necklace and most likely talked a load of mumbo jumbo to him.
"I remembered that today is our one month anniversary so I decided to gather my courage and enter the human town you are so fond of to find you a gift," Bane said causing several of the nearby students to coo in response. "We'll always have Hogsmade. After all that is where we took our first date together as an official couple."
"Would you mind putting it on me? I want to show all the other Centaurs and humans that this Centaur is taken," Harry said softly with a smile causing Bane's smile to grow as he reached forwards and placed it around Harry's neck.
As Bane placed the necklace around his neck Harry could not help but to let out a sigh as he remembered a quote from one of the shows Dudley used to watch until his parents found out about the magical side of it. There's no such thing as a painless lesson...they just don't exist.
Harry dreaded the moment when some big mouth fool would unknowingly point out that Bane's romantic gesture of jewellery was worthless. That the emerald green stone was a fake. When that day came through, Harry was going to teach them a lesson on keeping their mouths shut.
End of Drabble.
