Chapter 41: El mar sobre Barcelona

Callie's POV

A month later, the four of us boarded a plane that was taking us to Barcelona. We had spent the previous month organizing our departure and looking for a house for the year that my contract in this research center in Barcelona lasted. As for Arizona, she had also spent a lot of time setting up a contract between the center she had created and a Spanish hospital where she could continue to do her research and give classes.

After very long hours of searching, we finally found a large apartment on the top floor of a downtown building with a huge terrace where we could relax in a beautiful Jacuzzi.

We found a place for William in a daycare center near our apartment and enrolled Sofia in a Spanish elementary school. Indeed, thanks to all the hours she had spent speaking Spanish with me and my father, she had a decent level in Spanish.

In addition, before joining her school, she was going to do two weeks of intensive courses with a teacher. Arizona was also going to have two weeks of classes in order to be able to speak Spanish as well.

Once the four of us arrived in Barcelona, we took a cab that dropped us off at the bottom of our building. It was a beautiful building that was perfectly in the Spanish architecture.

Sofia was so eager to discover our new home that she rushed inside the building to get into the elevator. We followed her and all of us climbed up together.

Once we had all gone through the front door, we all had a big smile on our faces. I had only seen this apartment in pictures and seeing it in real life made me extremely satisfied. We had really made a very good choice as this place was sublime and terribly bright.

We settled our things in the apartment and then we decided to go and enjoy the city where we were going to live for a year by going to play on the beach with our children. The children played in the sand all afternoon, they were happy to be together and to be able to play peacefully. Sofia held her brother by the hand and they ran together. William's steps were quite clumsy, but as soon as he started to fall, his sister immediately grabbed him up. We watched them play for almost two hours before, tired from the trip, we decided to go back to our apartment. We did not even have dinner before going straight to bed.

First awakening in Barcelona. First day of our new life. God only knows how happy and smiling I was when I woke up. A ray of sunshine touched my feet and warmed them. I could hear the soft sounds of my son sleeping in the same room with us until we could set up his room. I had barely opened my eyes when I saw my wife who was standing in the room's frame.

"How was your sleep?" Arizona asked me with her so magical smile.

"Perfectly well, I could only sleep well."

"Babe," Arizona said, "your daughter and I have prepared a royal breakfast for you. We went to the market and bought you lots of fresh fruit."

"I am really lucky to have you next to me and to be able to live with the three of you." I said to Arizona, kissing her softly.

"We are the lucky ones!"

I got up and saw that they had both set up a beautiful table on the terrace of our apartment. Once I was seated, Arizona went to pick up our son and we began to eat together.

This new period of our life that was just beginning was going to be fantastic. It was going to be a great time for our family and for both of our careers. At least, that's what we thought until bad news came into our lives.
