His Silent Scream
Chapter 41
Author Notes: Guess who's back to ruin the happy feels from last chapter~ I mean yes technically me, but it's time to drag in another lovely little problem that always comes no matter where you go. I'm sure the majority of you will realize not even a line in. Have fun! I do not own Yugioh
3rd P.O.V
It was only a matter of time before things started going south. "What do you mean Haou's getting bullied?" Jehu hissed at Yoko while they were getting their lunch in the cafeteria. This was the first he's heard of this, and it pissed him off.
"I mean someone's messing with his locker and trying to hurt him. Just this morning there were tacks hidden in his lunch bag." She bit her lip as she reached for a fruit cup. Hearing the bluenette scrape his hand in his hair. "When did this start happening? What IS happening?"
Protective mode was activated and he was determined to get to the bottom of this. "I think this started a couple days after the winter festival. Someone busted open his locker just to scribble gay insults in his notebooks, but it's been getting bad now. Tacks Jehu! In his lunch! If he didn't notice something was up he would've swallowed them."
It was nearly a month and a half then that this has been kept in the dark. Why didn't Haou tell him? Yoko saw his expression and could only offer a grimace. "Hey, he didn't tell me until today, when we discovered the tacks." As soon as he was done eating, he was talking to him.
This wasn't a joke he could just shrug off. And it seemed Yoko agreed with his worries, which is why she told him in the first place. The bluenette could only sigh as he paid for his food, tapping his tray as he waited for her.
"Please tell me he's told one of the teachers about this?" Her fake smile made him groan as he sat down with their group of friends, all of them looking at them befuddled. "Not even Yami? Or Banner or Mrs. Sheppard? This isn't a joke! Or some innocent prank."
She poked her food with a fork. "This isn't our first rodeo with bullies Jehu. Haou's never depended on people to begin with. But after middle school...he doesn't bother calling for help, knowing no one will answer him." Her words made him flinch and immediately she patted his shoulder.
Not at all meaning it the way she made it sound. "He trusts you Jehu. He trusts my dads and the others. This is Haou though. He's never really relied on people. old habits and thoughts die hard. Plus he probably didn't want to worry you. Your spoons about ready to break by the way..."
Instantly he relaxed the pressure, removing his thumb from the actual spoon part. His concerns still heavily present. Jehu figured after finding out about Haou's scars that the stubborn brunette would open up more to him. Despite the rumors constantly going on about him he wasn't made of ice.
He had feelings and moments of weakness. It was ok to find support in your loved ones. Haou needed to see that. "Wait. What's going on?" Alexis decided to cut in at this point, wanting answers along with the rest of their group.
Haou wasn't around as per usual at this time. Most likely hanging out in Tome's class, not bearing witness to Yoko's confession and of course unable to defend his decision. "You mentioned this not being your first rodeo...wait rodeo?"
Despite the ominous topic Yoko grinned at Atticus, pointing at her boyfriend. Not really needing to clarify but still continued. "I'm dating an Australian cowboy, what? You didn't think I'd be using his terminology?" Jim snorted as he took a bite of his pizza before addressing the main issue.
"So I take it Haou's pretending these invasions to his locker aren't a problem?" His girlfriend sighs with a nod. Out of all of the people present, she knew him best. She saw him at his worst when they went to Yoko's junior high school that was a town away.
Coming here instead of the one where she lived made the trip a bit longer. It wasn't a big deal however. She had always planned on attending the school her dad worked at. Her decision became a definite after Haou wound up in the hospital.
Alexis frowns at that, feeling just as anxious as Yoko. "But a teacher could do something about it right?" Aster rolls his eyes, finding a problem in the blonde's suggestion. Frankly he could see a lot of issues with it, but he focused on the main one.
"If they had an identity to the culprit, maybe. But I take it they don't?" Yoko deflates at this point, resting her head on the table. If it was just a simple prank for the Fool's Massacre coming up she'd be fine. This conversation wouldn't exist, but she knows there's more to this.
And Haou does too. "Haou's dealt with far worse than this. Usually with bullies they either go after someone to make themselves feel better or because they have a vendetta against them. The both of us dealt with it, and express it differently. With him? He keeps a poker face, waiting until the assholes get bored or confront him."
She really hoped for the first situation. Lest there be a repeat of seventh grade. Except this time Haou won't be seeking a knife or any other type of self-defense weapon no matter how provoked he may be.
"Why is this happening in the first place? Sure we got a lot of pricks in this school, but why is Haou being targeted now of all times?" Axel raised a good point. Sadly though no one could come up with any answers.
It was just odd. "If they had a problem with him being openly gay then Jehu would be getting these little attacks as well. Does he have any enemies?" The military man was thinking back to his father's training that both he and Tyranno underwent as kids.
Search for any potential leads, follow them until all possibilities are exhausted, then fight. "No...at least not anymore. There was one person in middle school that I could think of, but he's long gone. Moved away in seventh grade." Thankfully Chazz was never seen again.
The Princeton name smeared in mud along with the Yukis'. Jehu knew very well who she was referring to. Praying Haou never had to deal with him again. Actually he hoped Haou wouldn't have to deal with any of the bullshit he went through again.
Unfortunately the harassments have returned. So he quickly finished his meal, breaking records and nearly choking to do it. Atticus grimaces while smacking his friend's back. "Take it easy man." Zane pushes a soda his way, which his friend happily swigs, forcing the food down.
He appreciated everyone trying to wrap their heads around the problem at hand. But it did no good if the actual victim wasn't there to help discuss it and his feelings on the matter. Harsh beeps turned everyone's attention to Yoko who reached her phone.
Her brows were furrowed as she easily recognized the number and ring tone. "Speak of the devil." She opened her phone, her face blank as she answers. "Hello?" She remains silent, her expression morphing to worry when she doesn't receive an answer.
"Haou? Are you there?" Again she receives no response, though there is harsh breathing heard now. It wasn't a good sign. Either someone took his phone for some sort of prank call, or he was on the verge of a panic attack. "What's wrong. Haou answer me!"
She was standing up at this point, just vaguely noticing her friends following her lead. Jehu especially keeping his eyes trained on her. With how close he was to her, he could distinguish the problem.
And swiped the phone from her. "Where are you Haou?" A sob was finally heard, and it broke his heart. "The library. I'm in the library with Mr. Kagemaru." That was all he needed to know. "Be there soon." Jehu made a sharp right in the halls, practically sprinting towards the library.
Leaving his friends struggling to catch up. Pulling open the doors his eyes scan the room. Searching for the familiar mop of brown, but couldn't find him anywhere in his line of sight. There were several students in there on the computer or chatting quietly at the tables.
Unaware of the bluenette's woes as he walked in. "In here Anderson." The elder coughed as he took a sip of his water. Tilting his head towards his office. "Thanks old man." Kagemaru nodded before quietly greeting a student wanting to check out a book.
He originally worked here as an English teacher for seniors before retiring...for about three months before coming back to work part time as a librarian. He knew many of the faces here. Haou was most certainly one of them as the brunette always came in to clean out his shelves.
The boy was a fast reader, easily reading and memorizing several books within a day with no issues. So for the old man to find Haou come in, on the verge of a breakdown left him panicking himself. "Haou?" Small hiccups were heard, leading Jehu to his boyfriend on the ground hidden towards the back of the office.
Tears were streaming down his face while he held his arms around himself. Trying to quell his emotions and tremors. But it was no use. He long reached his breaking point. Immediately his lover rushed towards him, practically skidding to his knees so he could take the crying teen into his arms.
"What's wrong? Babe talk to me." One by one their friends made their way inside, stunned with the sight before them. Never had they ever seen Haou look so broken and vulnerable. With the exception of Yoko and Jehu who were terrified. "Haou, what's going on?" His eyes were glazed over as he met his cousin's.
She winced at the dullness in those orbs. His next words made her freeze, nearly causing her to go into an attack herself. "He's back Yoko..." Haou sobbed into Jehu's shoulder as Yoko fell to her knees. Startling Jim as he came to her side. "Who's back?!"
To be continued
Author Notes: Well the fun time didn't last very long now did it. We got bullies, and now Mr. Who's back...and we all know who that is. I even got a bonus breakdown with both Haou and Yoko shutting down~ I'd call that a good way to end the chapter.
So everyone, thank you so much for reading up to 40 chapters(and counting) of this story. If you like it please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton to me~ I'll see you all next time! Tchao for now.
