AN: So, this one was inspired by a review to the last drabble. Hope you all enjoy!

Elizabeth made her way out to the land Jack had bought with tears blurring her vision. Not that it mattered. She thought she could probably find her way out here blindfolded. Today she desperately needed the peace this place offered her. She needed to feel close to Jack.

Jack's love had been true. He had loved her despite her flaws. He accepted her as she was and hadn't expected her to be someone else. She had chosen well with Jack. She didn't understand how she could have chosen so wrong this time.

She had chosen Lucas over Nathan. At the time, it had seemed like the right choice. Lucas understood the world she had come from while embracing the world she lived in now. He was kind and generous. His sweet words easily made her blush. His grand gestures showed everyone his love for her. His job wouldn't take him away from her.

Or so she had thought.

Two weeks into their official courtship, Lucas had called it off. He claimed it was because he didn't feel ready to be a father right from the start. Elizabeth had a feeling it was more than that. She had a feeling that Lucas was more in love with the pursuit of her than he had been with her. Now that he had won, the thrill had gone out of the relationship.

Elizabeth couldn't believe she had opened her heart to this heartbreak.

"Jack, I know you wanted me to find love again but maybe I'm not suppose to?" Elizabeth said, as she looked up at the fluffy clouds in the blue sky. "What if you were the only person who knew how to love me for me? I made this mistake and I'm afraid to try again. Apparently I'm not as good a judge of character as I thought."

"Be brave, Elizabeth."

The soft words were in Jack's voice. Elizabeth wasn't sure if it was her imagination or a sign from above.

Approaching hoof beats got her attention. Reaching up, Elizabeth tried to wipe the tears from her face, though she doubted it would do much good. She would probably still look like she had been crying.

As she looked up, Elizabeth saw a familiar horse and a red jacket come into view.

"Hello, Elizabeth," Nathan said politely.

"Hello, Nathan," Elizabeth replied, trying to keep her voice steady. Despite her efforts she could hear the tremble in her voice.

"Are you okay?" Nathan asked, slipping from the saddle. Reigns in hand, he walked closer to where she sat.

"I'm not physically hurt," Elizabeth replied, hoping it would be enough to ease his worries.

"Well, that's a partial answer," Nathan replied.

Elizabeth forced a smile. Knowing he would find out eventually, Elizabeth figured he might as well hear it from her.

"Lucas broke up with me."

"I'm sorry," Nathan said sincerely, as he sat down next to her. With Newton's reigns in one hand, he reached out with the other to place an arm around her shoulders.

Elizabeth instinctively leaned toward Nathan. His presence brought comfort. It always had. His simple words were honest and sincere.

"It may not feel like it right now, but it is his loss, not yours," Nathan told her quietly.

Though his words brought comfort like his presence, Elizabeth didn't speak. Instead she just let herself lean against him. She had thought she wanted to be alone but now that he was here, she didn't want Nathan to leave. Her fear had led her to choose wrong. She saw that now. Perhaps when her heart had a little time to heal, she would see if it was too late to remedy that mistake.
