Chapter 43 After all these years
It's been been 3 long years since Sean's death at the hands of Zaheer who willingly surrendered himself after wards. After learning the Truth about why the Primordials were sealed within the Avatars of old and seeing his friends die for nothing he had nothing but regret for his actions that led to their deaths and the death of that of which he thought he was saving.
In those three years the world has come together even more to prevent the same thing from happening again.
The remaining Avatars had extra security added to them to make sure they would not suffer the same fate or worse.
As for Sean's friends and family...Many of them had their own way of dealing with what happened three years ago.
For David and Asami they held off the wedding until Korra was ready to come back and when Raiko would be thrown out of office.
Turok had mostly spent his time with Jinora who tried her best to help him with his loss of losing another family member after what happened to his original years ago.
Will had mostly stuck to his work taking Sean's place as the leader of Task force 141.
For the most part the world hadn't seen any real problems other than the chaos in the Earth Kingdom because of Zaheer's actions. Although no one really blamed him for killing the queen since learning she wanted to start a war to conquer the world. (I guarantee she would try that bullshit. How is she the previous king's daughter he was so nice and she ATE his bear!)
Currently right now though Raiko was giving a speech.
"And of course, my biggest thanks goes to Asami Sato and Future Industries. She brought our old central terminal into the modern era. Ladies and gentlemen the world is entering a new age of peace and prosperity thanks to the efforts and sacrifice of Kruger who I wish was here today to thank him for his noble sacrifice." Raiko said.
"Fucking bullshit." Turok said to Reznov who nods.
"Soon, prince Wu will take his rightful place on the Earth Kingdom throne, and thanks to our updated rail system from Japan, Republic City and the Earth Kingdom will be united like never before." Raiko said as Asami cut a red line as the people cheered for her.
Soon the crowd dispersed.
"I fucking hate that prick so fucking much." Turok said snarling at Raiko who was taking all the attention like he usually does for his own ego.
"Just relax." Jinora said holding his hands. "He'll be out of office soon enough and Korra will come back." Jinora said kissing him. (Incase people lost track she's 15 now and he's 18)
"Yeah...It'll be nice to see Junior again after all these years." Turok said smiling at the thought of his four year old nephew.
"I heard from my dad actually. Tonraq and his family are coming to Republic City for the coronation of Prince Wu." Jinora said.
"Oh good. Thats means we'll all get together like old times." Turok said.
Thats when they approached Mako, Asami and David.
"It'll be nice to see Korra and Junior again after 3 years. And I'm sure Junior could use some time away from the cold." Asami joked.
"I'll bet. You heard from Bolin? I'm sure he'll want to see them again." Turok said.
"I haven't talked to him a while. I'm sure he'll be here for the coronation." Mako said.
"That Dumbass doesn't even deserve to be a king. I'd say he's even worse than his fucking great aunt bitch." Turok said seeing Wu posing for a crowd making his eyes twitch. "I'd rather have ANYONE else on the throne at this point. Even a Dai Li agent." Turok said.
"Oh god don't go there." Jinora said before seeing Wu talk to the President and the others.
"I feel sorry for the poor saps who have to guard him." Mako said relieved it wasn't him since he worked for the CIA and not the police.
"The united forces will escort you to Ba Sing Se." Tenzin said.
"Right, About that. Are we all positive that the Earth Kingdom is safe enough for me to return? I don't have to remind everyone what happened to my great Aunt three years ago? May she Rest In Peace." Wu said.
"She can rest in the Void for all I care." Reznov said.
"How dare you. My Aunt was a great woman." Wu said before Reznov grabbed and glared.
"You call a woman who tried to kidnap Kruger's wife to take her son and turn him into a living weapon a great woman?" Reznov asked making him sweat.
"Um...Ok she was horrible I admit." Wu said before Reznov dropped him.
"You are a worthless fuckhead. I'd rather see Kuvira on the throne." Reznov said.
That was another thing. Kuvira had left the Metal clan and began a campaign to unite the Earth Kingdom once again after the chaos Zaheer and caused. She had done a decent job so far though her methods were a little overboard but they knew once Wu stood down everything would be back to normal.
Meanwhile
On a railway was a train that was traveling all over the Earth Kingdom.
This was Kuvira's train and inside was her, Varrick. Zhu-Li, Baatar Jr and Bolin who was coming with a report.
"I got some good news. Two more Earth Kingdom states have agreed to join us." Bolin said.
"Excellent. Thank you, Bolin. We're 90% there, Kuvira." Baatar said.
"Thats great! Zhu-Li, Dish out some of that special celebration Tea." Varrick said getting her to do that as she handed some to Kuvira.
"None for me. I won't celebrate until the Earth Kingdom is 100% Reunited." Kuvira said before the Train stopped before one of her soldiers approached her. "Why are we stopping?"
"Apologies, there are rocks on the tracks. It's most likely bandits. We're sending troops to handle the situation."
"Call them off. I will take core of the bandits myself." Kuvira said.
And in no time at all she had defeated them like they didn't even try.
During the last three years Kuvira had proven her skills as a great metal bender and leader.
Soon enough the train got back to its destination arriving at small state that was rich with ore.
When Bolin got off however.
"Well...If it isn't the Lava bender." Julia said making him face her seeing Julia, Kai and Opal.
"Guys!" Bolin said rushing to them before hugging his girlfriend.
"It's been a few months since we last saw you." Julia said.
"So what are you guys doing here?" Bolin asked.
"We were trying to help get this place some food and supplies...But the bandits took it from the bison. We're out of options here." Julia said seeing the Governor of the region signing a piece of paper for Kuvira.
"Well...At least his people will be taken care of." Opal said.
"So have you guys heard from Korra?" Bolin asked.
"Actually yes. Her family is stopping by tonight for Wu's coronation later this week." Julia said.
Later
On Air temple island a Southern Ship docked before Tonraq and his wife got off.
"Tonraq, it's good to have you back in the city, and everyone is excited to see the Avatar again." Tenzin said.
"What do you mean by that? Korra isn't with us." Tonraq said.
"She isn't? But I thought she was coming with you." Tenzin said.
"Korra hasn't lived with us since Sean's Funeral." Senna said.
"But...She said she was staying with you." Asami said making them look at each other before Tonraq sighed.
"She never told you." Tonraq said.
"Told us what?" Tenzin asked.
"Shortly after Sean's Funeral...She left the Southern Water Tribe...And the Four nations entirely. She gave up her status as the Avatar to Raise Junior." Senna said surprising them all.
"She gave up her status as one of the Avatars?" Tenzin asked.
"She just wanted to live in peace." Tonraq said.
"Considering what happened I can't say I blame her." Asami said.
"And...If she didn't tell you about her moving away...Theres something else she probably didn't tell you." Tonraq said.
"And whats that?" Tenzin asked.
Meanwhile
Out in the forests of Colorado was a large Mansion Sean once owned that was now owned by his wife.
Korra sat on on a couch reading a love novel with a smile as she got into the story. Over the last three years Korra had changed slightly with her hair now short after cutting it when she moved in.
However someone was behind her with a blade in hand with it raised in the air.
"Don't even think about it Junior." Korra said grinning turning to face her four year old son who had a toy retractable knife in hand as he pouted.
"How'd you know?" Junior asked making her giggle.
"I'm your mother. And your father and uncles did the same nonsense to each other growing up. I would know your father told me countless stories...Wait...Where is she?" Korra asked making Junior point outside the deck making her get up before walking out and smiled.
What was she looking at you might ask?
Naga was curled up around a girl at the age of two. She had Korra's skin texture and hair who was currently asleep.
This was Korra and Sean's daughter...Diana. Named after Sean's favorite Comic Book Character. (Sora this was brought up in the last Comedy chapter you skipped. You gotta stop doing that and just push through it so you don't miss anything)
Korra after leaving the South found out she was pregnant again 3 years ago and gave birth to her in secret. Other than her parents who came to visit every couple weeks only a few knew about her existence. Sean's brother Will and his Father knew as did members of the Task Force. (Remember they had sex after Lin and Suyin made up)
After she gave birth Korra after getting back into shape would train outside every night to master her skills both in bending and magic to make sure she was strong enough to protect her children not wanting to ever lose anyone else in her family ever again.
Walking to her daughter she kneeled down.
"Diana." Korra said waking her up as she yawned before rubbing her eyes before opening them showing they were forest green like her father. "Come on." Korra said picking her up before they all went inside.
An unfortunate thing about Diana however though was she never spoke. Irons had hired private doctors to see what was wrong but they all claimed she was perfectly fine and most likely never spoke by choice.
Korra believed in some way she knew what happened to her father and it had a negative effect on her to never speak which saddened her but believed one day she would.
After getting her kids to bed she was about to head to bed herself when she passed a photo making her look seeing it was her wedding picture making her smile softly as she held it. She remembered how Will Joked about how his brother proposed after she got pregnant. While not exactly the kind of wedding she would have imagined at an early age...She was still happy regardless of circumstances that day.
"I miss you so much honey." Korra said kissing the photo before she went to bed with Naga and Lizzie next to her to keep her company knowing she hated to sleep alone.
Meanwhile
Zaheer sat in his prison with his head down before one of the guards came in and placed his meal down.
"Here you go fucker." The guard said before leaving making him sigh.
Every day he was constantly reminded of his actions of Sean's death.
Every day he wished he could take it all back seeing his actions were for nothing and unintentionally killed that which he tried to set free not knowing Draco's actions saved the Primordials from death.
But nothing could ever undo his greatest mistakes.
Sighing he ate his meal before getting into a meditative stance to enter the spirit world as he always did here.
However when he opened his eyes he found himself not in the spirit world but a floating platform.
"This...Isn't the Spirit world." Zaheer said.
"No it is not."
Zaheer looked around for the source of the voice.
"Who's there?" Zaheer asked.
"Calm your mind Zaheer."
"Who are you? What is this place?" Zaheer asked.
"I have summoned you here to speak with you. Your actions have caused great harm to the world."
"I know." Zaheer said with his head down. "If I had known the Truth about why the Primordials were sealed inside the Avatars I never would have done what I did." Zaheer said.
"You were missing important information. Information that was only shared with a small few. None are alive that knew it...Except for me."
"Who are you?" Zaheer asked.
"Who I am is of little importance. What is important is why I have summoned you here."
"And why's that?" Zaheer asked.
"What if I told you there was a way to undo your mistake?"
"The Primordial and Kruger are dead. There is no fixing that." Zaheer said holding his head down.
"Kruger may be dead but the Primordial is not."
This shocked Zaheer.
"But..." Zaheer tried to say.
"Draco created what you would call...Contingency plans in place...In the event one of the Primordials was killed or destroyed. And there is a way to bring Young Kruger back from the dead and remerge the Primordial of life with him."
"Remerge?" Zaheer asked.
"Remember. Something is poisoning the Primordials when outside their hosts. It will do the same to the Primordial of Life again if she does not seal herself back into a worthy host. And it must be him. For you see...A great evil is on the Horizon. And the Avatars must face it...All of them."
Zaheer held his head down with his eyes closed before opening them.
"What do you need me to do?" Zaheer asked.
"You must first claim Kruger's body from Republic City and bring it to an ancient temple Draco built for this particular event. Then you will journey to the South Pole. I will guide you on your journey."
"How am I supposed to escape when I'm in chains?" Zaheer asked.
"I will take care of that."
Zaheer opened his eyes in the physical world before looking down seeing the chains that held him were rusting apart before he was freed once more before the alarms went off.
"Don't let him escape!"
Zaheer narrowed his eyes before the wall behind him crumbled apart showing the outside world before Zaheer flew out.
He would correct his mistakes before it was too late.
