Epilogue
I figured this would be best to just tell you about what happened. If you have any questions about the story, PM me or leave a review and I'll do my best to answer. Cheers!
Lu Ten and Toph had heard Zuko's firebending, with all of the yelling around it. Azula hadn't cared to find anything out about Toph, which was her miscalculation. After bringing down the house, Toph helped to unbury everybody and knocked out the entire entourage. Thankfully, no one was hurt too badly.
Azula managed to nick June earlier, leaving a razor thin scar along her cheek. Secretly, she was very pleased to have a scar – in a small way, she could match Zuko. Kya's cheekbone was broken, but a quick trip to the seashore with the small amount of bending Katara had gotten back made for a quick healing session for everyone.
Including Mai. The lightning had hit her directly in the small of her back, traveling down her leg into the ground. She was quickly stabilized, but a far way from total recovery.
They returned home only hours before the coronation, Azula in custody. Lu Ten, Toph, and Ty Lee had to stay behind, as they were currently still exiled. Zuko announced his theory and demanded they search Menolda's room.
By the time the guards got there, the room was aflame. Fortunately, they managed to salvage enough evidence to prove her guilt. Ozai was found guilty of treason and attempted murder, and was sentenced to serve for life in the palace dungeon.
To Zuko's dismay, Azula was released on the pretense of "just following orders." She pleaded that her dad had threatened her, and she was relieved at his imprisonment. Zuko knew she was just going to bide her time. She got treatment for her shoulder, but it would definitely scar.
He told the details and demanded that Lu Ten and Ty Lee be unbanished, and Iroh reinstated as Fire Lord. The counsel, embarrassed at the whole situation, acquiesced. To everyone's surprise, Iroh declined the offer, insisting that his retirement had proven peaceful.
Everyone looked to Zuko. He had to battle the temptation for power, much like his father. Upon realizing this, he quickly demanded that Lu Ten be instated for Fire Lord. In private, he asked his uncle if Lu Ten was really ready. Iroh just told him that no one could be ready, and Lu Ten would learn quickly enough.
This meant that Mao was going to be executed. Zuko persuaded the counsel to just imprison him, as he hadn't officially crossed any Tribute lines. On the other hand, he was guilty of attempted murder, and no one except Zuko's family believed that Azula had manipulated him.
Ty Lee returned, much to the family's relief. She was no less bright for having been exiled, preserved by Lu Ten's good company. She insisted that they hadn't done anything together, and Zuko didn't doubt it.
But Jin was still here, and she couldn't exactly be given back. They were already wed. Ty Lee insisted they could share the bed between the three of them, and Zuko just let them sort it out. Hopefully he would never have to bed her, or any other girl. He could barely handle the five of them, much less seven!
They all made a mutual agreement to rest for the next few weeks. For Zuko's health, the girls made a pact not to go to bed with him. Those herbs would work themselves out faster if he didn't get too excited.
Their new herbalist returned them onto their medication, but Katara was delighted to find that her bending would no longer be blocked, per the wishes of the prince. It would be a secret that could give them an edge against Azula later.
Also, it was found that two of them were pregnant. Kya was delighted, but she knew the moment they finished that last time that she was. What the herbs had picked up had been from June, who was suddenly thrust into the thought of being a mother. Especially with her mother, she decided to avoid thinking about it, letting Kya have the attention.
Azula was powerless right now, right? Ozai was gone, and she had no real control over the people. They had heavy guards instated, and it would do her no good to kill them now anyway. Maybe they could have some peace for a change.
Far away on Kyoshi island, the town burned. A man wearing a black mask stood on the hill, scouring the running figures for his prize. He gritted his teeth in frustration as they all ran different directions. Why wouldn't they just protect his quarry? That would be much quicker.
Joesi ran, pulling a younger girl with her. Another woman ran beside them. "Come, to the South Pole. We'll be safe there." She watched the young woman, hope in her eyes.
Illa tried to keep up with the women, but it was hard to not bend. Absentmindedly, she rubbed the blue arrow running down her forehead.
Keep your eyes peeled for the sequel! "Destiny" is the title. PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS FOR SCENES AND PLOT ELEMENTS YOU WANT TO SEE.
