They rumbled into the main stock yard and Ianto was instantly sickened by the livestock dead in the pens. The black splotches that he knew were blood spatter from those who died in the initial carnage were like black holes of doom. Some animals had been taken clearly, others left to starve and die.

Heartless bastards.

They followed Michael into the huge barn and closed the doors, locking themselves in the metal venue. Both rubbish trucks silting still and silent now as they swept the building and then declared it safe.

Some started clearing displays still there as Ianto used the bathroom, taking a moment to sit on the closed lid of one of the toilets and think. Jack found him there and settled to wait for him to speak, certain he would share the closed thoughts once he had them in some form of order.

"Gwen" Ianto finally said and Jack nodded.

"Yeah. I have seen a single persons poisoning a well" Jack said, then frowned as he realized he had added a metaphor in there but Ianto knew what he was aiming for. One rotten apple spoils the barrel.

"While she is separated we have some form of control but once they decide she is clear to be released from the quarantine area and let her loose she will go back to being a fucking dissident in the ranks" Ianto leaned back against the wall "I do not know what to do. Part of me wants to tear her limb from limb but I know that will not help with the whole 'we come in peace' thing."

"Yeah. I thought of shunning her but don't know if that will stick. She seems to be like that old song about the cat that comes back" Jack agreed "The more feral part of me wants to put her in a hole too."

"We need to get this done, get home and sort this shit out. I think a sit down with her, face to face… just us. Let her see our anger, understands our resolve here to protect this little clump of people we have …. What is that?" Ianto rose and canted his head like he was listening so Jack did the same without a second thought.

"Whispering?"

"Someone else is in this building" Ianto said as he felt tendrils of dread slithering up his spine, "Jack... someone is in here with us."

Jack and Ianto erupting from the loo was a surprise, especially as Ianto transfixed while doing so and Myfanwy was instantly on her feet moving to flank her Alpha. Then they split and took opposite sides of the huge barn, slinking along on their bellies. They looked fucking scary, like they were hunting in the jungle or something. Rhys and Michael decided to step into the cab of one of the trucks, locking the doors as Jack walked slowly along the middle of the building in line with the creatures whose teeth were the only things visible in the half light of the fading day.

Rhys was the one to guess "They hear something. Shit man…. Someone else is in here with us."

Michael turned to respond and saw Rhys oiling the glove box to pull out a hand gun, checking it before looking out the windscreen again with determination. Ready. Michael considered and pulled the gun from under his own seat. Yeah. Good idea. Scan with malice. They watched with their mouths slightly open, fear hidden behind the stillness.

Ianto was almost halfway down the rows when he stopped moving, slowly turning his head to stare at the display of pet food. Large sacks of dog food all piled up. It seemed to be stacked like…. Myfanwy leapt up into the air, like… straight up and then landed in the same spot, swinging to stare at Ianto as they had a silent conversation, Jack opening his mind to catch the image she was sending Ianto.

Someone was insole the food, it was stacked like a fort. Hollow inside. People inside.

Jack said softly "Hi in there. We know you are in there and we do not mean you any harm. We came to get things for our people, we did not intend to scare you."

Silence.

Jack shrugged and Ianto moved closer, "Hello?"

Ianto scented the air and then hissed "Guns."

"OK… we will leave if you don't' want to interact. I understand, it is a scary time. The Greys and now the sickness." Jack called out "We needed some things for our home… we will leave you in peace and leave you some things… we have spare water and fresh eggs. We will leave them for you… be well. Be safe, do not trust anyone. The sickness going around is deadly."

"We know" came a voice form inside the fortress, "Leave one of the motorbikes? Please?"

Jack turned to face Owen and nodded "Mine… we will leave them mine… you like yours. I will travel in one of the trucks"

Owen shrugged, glad he got to keep his own bike. Jack's had been from the vehicle pool where five more bikes still sat, Owen's was… well… his. He considered it his baby now.

They were soon gone in the dark.

Heading to the only other place they could go right now to hide from the Greys before sunrise.

The Police Station.
