Chapter 46

Leonard just came from work and arrived at his house's gate, seeing Wyatt and Susan playing with his children. Susan carried Sarah tn her arms while Wyatt and William were playing catch, while Sarah watches them, amused by the ball her brother was playing with.

"Hey guys!" said Leonard as he entered the gate.

William immediately ran to his father to hug him. "Hi dad!" he said before returning to play catch with his grandpa.

"Looks like you guys are having fun huh?" he said as he went to greet his daughter. Sarah immediately laughed and giggled when she saw her father. "Aww, come here princess. Did you miss me?" he said while lifting her daughter up in the air before kissing her neck, making the baby scream with laughter.

Penny came out the front door when she heard Leonard arrive. "Hi honey!" she said, giving her husband a quick kiss on the lips.

"Ugh, that is so gross!" William exclaimed, surprising his parents and making his grandparents laugh.

"Hey!" said Leonard. "This is why you and your sister are here!" he said, teasing his son.

"Dad! Stop it!" William yelled, making Penny laugh.

Penny went to calm her son down. "I'm sorry sweetheart." she said.

"We're with William on this one." Wyatt said, making Susan laugh.

"Dad!?" Penny said.

"Relax honey, your dad's just making fun of you." Susan added.

Penny sighed, "Fine." she said before turning her attention to their daughter, tickling her side as Sarah hugged her father, hiding from her mother's 'attacks'.

"Dad?" William said.

"Yes buddy." Leonard said.

"Are we gonna visit grandpa and grandma in the states?" he asked, surprising his parents.

Leonard gave Sarah to Penny as he gently pulled his son to sit beside him. "I don't know buddy. Maybe when your sister turns one or two, then we can visit your grandpa's farm." he said.

"Why do we have to wait for Sarah to turn one or two?" asked the young man.

Penny decided to butt in, sitting beside her son. "Because, it's not easy traveling with a baby sweetheart." she said. "When your sister gets older, it's gonna be much easier for her to travel, especially overseas." added Penny, hoping her son would understand.

"Promise?" said William.

Leonard smiled and tapped his son's shoulder. "I promise buddy." he said.

"Why don't we go inside so your father can rest huh?" Penny said as she held William's hand while Leonard stood up, carrying Sarah in his arms, following Penny and William with Wyatt and Susan doing the same.

"I guess I'm responsible for that Leonard." said Wyatt.

"For what?" asked Leonard.

"He asked me about our life back in the farm and I told him everything we do there. I guess he got a little curious in visiting us there." said Wyatt.

"It's alright. He's growing up so fast and it's just a matter of time until he asks these kinds of questions." said Leonard.

"Well, you know you guys are always welcome to visit us. And I'm sure all our relatives would like to meet the kids, especially Penny's Nana Juliet." Susan added.

"Yeah, I remember her telling us to give her another great grandchild." said Leonard, laughing a little.

"I'm sure she'll be so happy when she sees this young lady here." Susan said, tickling Sarah's cheek, making the baby laugh and giggle. "You are so sweet baby!" said Susan as she took the baby from Leonard.

Later that night, they were having dinner...

"So how are things at the office Leonard?" Susan asked.

"It's going great actually. We got two more contracts for this year so we'll be hiring a few more people to handle it." said Leonard.

"That's great news." said Wyatt.

"Are you gonna spend more time at work daddy?" asked William.

Leonard smiled at his son. "Only for a couple of weeks buddy. Larry and I just need to make sure that everything we need for the project is nailed down so we won't miss anything." he said. "But don't worry, we'll still read and do your math every night before bed okay?" he said.

William nodded. "Okay dad." he said.

"At least your grandpa and grandma are here sweetie." Penny said.

"Yes mom, I understand. Dad's work is important so we won't get hungry now that Sarah eats like a horse." he said making them all laugh.

"Well it's better than your sister getting sick all the time, right?" added Wyatt.

"I guess grandpa. I just can't figure out how she can eat all the time and not get full. I mean, does she have a black hole inside her tummy or something?" William said making them laugh more.

Later in bed, Leonard joined his wife, slipping under the covers, ready to rest.

"Hey, what are you thinking of?" asked Leonard.

"I was thinking of that stuff William said about us visiting Nebraska." said Penny.

"Well, I'm not against it." he said.

"Really?" asked Penny. "It's okay for you to visit the states again?" she added.

"Sure. It won't hurt for William to meet your family and relatives there." he said. "It might be actually good for him to know what kind of life his grandparents have back there." he added.

Penny jumped and kissed his lips. "Aww, thank you honey!" she said.

"But I have a lot of stuff going on at work so I'll have to talk to Larry about it. I'm sure he won't mind me going away for a couple of months." said Leonard.

"I guess I better get Sarah and William their own passports huh?" Penny said.

"Yeah. That's probably a good idea." he said. "Now let's get some sleep, I have a meeting tomorrow morning." he said while kissing his wife.

"Goodnight honey." Penny said, kissing him back as they got under the covers, feeling each other's warmth as they let sleep take them over.

After a couple of months, Wyatt and Susan said their goodbyes to the young family. William was most saddened to see his grandparents leave as he has gotten used to walking with them everyday to school, tending to their backyard garden, playing with her baby sister and sometimes helping out with his school work.

Leonard and his family drove Penny's parents to the airport to see them off. William was quiet all throughout the car ride, not wanting to see his grandpa and grandma go back to the states. They arrived at the airport as William began to cry with Susan and Wyatt trying to console him.

"Hey, don't cry buddy." said Wyatt, hugging his grandson.

"I wish you wouldn't go grandpa." said William.

"We have to go buddy. I need to look after the farm." Wyatt said.

"I'm gonna miss you grandma!" said William while crying on Susan's shoulder.

"I'm gonna miss you too honey!" said Susan, trying to hold back her tears.

Leonard put his hand on his son's shoulder to face him. "Don't worry buddy, your mom and I talked last week and we're gonna get you and your sister your own passports." he said.

"Are we gonna go to Nebraska dad?" asked William.

Leonard nodded. "Uh huh. I'll just settle some things at work and after we get your passports, we'll visit your grandma and grandpa in Nebraska, alright?" he said to his son.

William nodded while wiping his tears. "Okay dad." he said.

"Don't worry sweetheart, we'll wait for you there okay?" said Susan, smiling at her grandson.

"Yes grandma." William said, hugging her again. "I love you grandma." he added.

Susan cried, feeling her grandson's affection for her. "Ugh, I love you too honey!" she said, kissing his cheeks. "We'll Skype as much as we can okay?" she added.

William nodded. "Okay grandma." he said, as Leonard and Penny looked on.

Susan then stood up to say her goodbye to Sarah who just woke up, being carried by Penny. "Ugh I'm gonna miss you little princess!" she said kissing Sarah on her neck and cheeks, making the little girl laugh and giggle. "I guess the next time we see you, you would already be walking or running around huh?" Susan said to Sarah, making the baby laugh and giggle.

Wyatt leaned over and kissed his granddaughter. "Well, you can run around the farm as long as you want, right princess!" he said while tickling Sarah's neck and sides, making her scream and laugh.

Susan gave her grandchildren another round of hugs and kisses before taking their luggage with Wyatt doing the same. "You be a good boy, alright slugger!" he said to the young man.

William nodded. "Yes grandpa." he said as Leonard held his son's hand while Wyatt and Susan hugged the couple, saying their goodbyes to them.

"Goodbye Leonard. We'll wait for you visit in Nebraska." said Wyatt while shaking his hand.

"Have a safe trip Wyatt. We'll let you know when we're visiting." said Leonard.

"Bye mom! Bye dad!" said Penny, hugging her parents tight while Leonard carried Sarah.

"Bye honey. We're gonna miss you guys." said Susan, kissing her daughter.

"You take care of your family okay?" Wyatt said, hugging his daughter.

"Bye daddy." said Penny as Wyatt and Susan made their way into the airport while waving goodbye to them.

After Penny's parents entered the airport, Leonard led William and Penny back to the car to go home.

"Hey buddy, are you alright?" Leonard asked his son.

"Do you mean that when you said mom will get me and Sarah's passports so we could travel to the states?" asked William.

"Yes son. I mean it." said Leonard.

"Why can't we just live permanently in the states?" William asked. "I mean, we're American citizens right?" he added.

Penny smiled at William. "Sweetheart, this is our home. Your father's work is here, your school is here, all our friends are here." she said.

"But you have a life way back in the states right?" said William.

"We did buddy. But when your mom and I got married, we decided to stay here to start a new life with you and your sister." said Leonard.

"But why? Are you running away from someone?" William said.

Leonard sighed and knelt in front of his son, facing him. "No buddy. We're not running or hiding from anything or anyone." He said. "I had some problems with my life before I met your mom and I came here to focus and get my life back together." he said.

"By fixing stereos and TVs?" William butted in.

"Yes buddy. It may seem strange at first but doing those things somehow made things clearer for me. And then I met your mom when I fixed her TV and laptop. We went out for a while and eventually got married. By the time you were born, our life here was going great, I had a good job, your mom was working at the restaurant." he said before continuing. "We realized we were happy wherever we are so we decided to stay here." said Leonard.

"Aren't you happy here sweetie?" Penny asked.

"I am mommy." said William. "I just thought it would be great to visit grandma and grandpa whenever we want without getting passports and buying expensive plane tickets." William added.

Penny smiled as her son and kissed his cheek. "I know honey. I know." she said. "But our life is here. Okay?" she added.

William nodded. "Yes mommy." he said.

"That's my boy." she said. "Now what do you say we go home so this young lady can eat." Penny said while leading her son towards the car with Leonard following close behind.

Later that night, Leonard entered the bedroom after putting William to bed.

"How's our young man doing?" Penny asked as she made sure the mosquito net on Sarah's crib is snug.

"He's doing fine." said Leonard. "Why?" he asked.

"You know, that stuff he said about us going back to the states." she said.

"Do you want us to go back?" he asked as they climb on the bed, pulling the sheets over them with Penny resting her head on his shoulder.

"We decided to stay right?" said Penny.

"Yeah." he said. "How about this, when any of us thinks of going back, we'll talk and decide by then, okay?" he added.

Penny smiled and kissed his lips. "Okay honey." she said.

"Good. I just want you and our kids to be happy." said Leonard.

"I am happy." she said. "I've never been this happy before." Penny added.

"Me too honey." he said. "Which reminds me. I have something to show you." said Leonard, quickly getting off the bed and leaving the bedroom. He returned after a minute, handing Penny a bound folder.

"What's this?" she asked as she opened the folder and read the title. "Of Persistent Quantum States." she said. "Is this the thing that you've been working on for the past couple of months?" asked Penny.

"Yeah." he said while joining her on the bed.

"And what does this do exactly?" she asked as she pretended to read Leonard's paper.

"It's a concept from my previous paper to make ultra-stable gyroscopes and guidance systems." he said.

"Okay, I'm not trying to sound all nerdy and scientific but guidance systems are used in rockets and bombs right?" said Penny.

"Well, it can also be used in satellites and airplanes." said Leonard.

"Like targeting satellites and warplanes and stuff?" said Penny, teasing her husband.

Leonard thought for a while. "You're right I guess." he said.

"Then what good does this bring to the human race?" said Penny.

Leonard was surprised. "Why are you so suddenly all-righteous and insightful?" he asked.

Penny laughed. "Relax honey, I'm just messing with you." she said.

"Now I'm gonna have a difficult time sleeping knowing that my paper could be used to oppress humanity in the future." said Leonard, folding his arms.

Penny smiled and slowly put her hands around his neck. "Aww, come here honey. I'm sorry for ruining your work." she said kissing his cheek. "Here, let me make it up to you." she said while moving on top to straddle him, lifting up her nightshirt a little to give her legs more movement.

Penny began to kiss and caress his neck and shoulders while taking his hands to wrap around her waist. "Come on honey, I know you can do it." she whispered in his ear, making him shudder.

Leonard then tightened his arms around Penny as he kissed her lips, tasting her sweet lip gloss while slowly lifting her nightshirt up, revealing her naked body with only her panties on. He gently lifted and spun her around, moving on top of her as she pulled his shirt and boxer shorts off, feeling his excitement while continuing to kiss each other.

Penny lifted her hips up as her husband took off her underwear before moving himself into her while she tried to control herself from screaming and giggling from Leonard's constant affections. Leonard then tightened his arms around her shoulders as they both took a deep breath, moving their bodies in-sync with each other while Penny dug her nails on his back, making Leonard exert more effort as they slowly become one under the covers.

"That was something else huh?" said Penny, displaying a goofy smile while resting her head on his shoulder.

Leonard took a puff from his inhaler. "Yeah." he said while he waited for his medication to take effect.

Penny tightened her arms around him. "Honey, did you upload that new paper of yours already?"

"I uploaded it the other day." he said.

"And?" Penny asked, looking at him.

"Well, most of them liked the idea." he said, "But the difficult part would be on how to make a proof of concept out of it." Leonard added.

"What do you mean?" asked Penny.

"Making it into something physical." he said. "Like a recipe is just a piece of paper until you cook the actual dish." he added.

"Do you think Howard or Sheldon could make that?" asked Penny.

"Howard could probably make it with the proper funding I guess." he said.

"I think you should be there making it with them honey." Penny said.

"It's alright. I'm just glad that my paper was well-received." he said.

Penny moved up and kissed his lips. "I'm so proud of you." she said.

"Let's get some sleep and tomorrow morning, we'll make each other proud again!" he said, kissing her lips.

"Hmm, I love the sound of that!" she said as they closed their eyes to sleep, tangled in their tight embrace.
