For the record, I know that Empress is the correct term, but in my stories, the person with the direct bloodline to the throne is the Emperor, regardless of gender.

Emperor Luz sat at her desk, writing in a new law that will become the latest change to the Coven system. She's been the Emperor for less than a year but she's already improved the Isles with less tyrannical laws and more freedoms. She's done a lot in the short amount of time, it was exhausting, but important.

"You know, all work and no play, makes the Emperor a dull girl."

Luz looked up and saw Boscha, sitting on the desk, wearing a lose robe and clothes that Luz would describe as... revealing.

"I see you brought out the lingerie. What's the occasion?" Luz asked, standing up to kissed Boscha.

After their kissed, Boscha got off the desk and walked over to Luz. She grabbed Luz's hands and rested them on her hips.

"I've been told you don't like today, but I decided to make you feel happy."

Luz knew what she meant. It was her twenty-first birthday. The anniversary of her mom's death.

"I appreciate it Boscha, but I have a plan to make this day become a great memory."

Luz pulled her hands off Boscha's hips and grabbed a small box.

"I plan on giving this to Amity tonight." Luz said,

"Damn, that's a big rock."

"Think she'll say, yes?"

"Please, you could give her a griffin feather and she'll say yes." Boscha said, "She's a lucky girl."

"I could get one for you if you want." Luz said.

"I still don't think I'm ready for that. I'll just keep being the Royal Girlfriend."

Luz pulled her into another kiss. Boscha pulled away for a second.

"Where is Amity?" Boscha asked.

"She's at her parent's Manor. Apparently, the twins are moving their stuff out now that the war is over and Amity is helping them. They plan on opening a prank shop and have the perfect place in mind. It's about two town's out of BonesBorough."

Boscha simply nodded and went back to tongue wrestling with Luz.

"Why don't we move this to the bedroom, so I can give you the rest of your... present." Boscha said.

Luz nodded and picked Boscha up, bridal style. At the Blight Manor, Amity was sitting with her mom, drinking tea. She spent the past few hours helping the twins get there stuff out of the Manor.

"So, any plans for tonight?" Odalia asked.

"Luz is taking me to a special place. She has to tell me something." Amity said.

"Maybe she wants to propose." Odalia said.

"I doubt it, Luz has enough going on. I don't want her to have to plan a wedding at the same time."

"You're very thoughtful. She's lucky to have you." Odalia said, "Wonder what change she'll implement now? She is truly a hard worker that doesn't rest until work is done."

At the castle, Luz and Boscha were in bed, breathing heavily. Boscha leaned her head on Luz's bare shoulder.

"Want to go again?" Boscha asked.

Luz wraps an arm around Boscha and kisses her on the third eye.

"I wish I could, but I have to get ready for my date."

Luz got up and walked to her private bathroom, making sure to grab her underwear off the floor. Boscha just watches her as she walked into the bathroom.

"I hate to see her go, but I love watching her leave."

Boscha pulled the blanket over herself and closed her eyes. She gave Luz her birthday present, so she was going to take a nap. Later, Luz and Amity were on Luz's staff as she flew them to a special place.

"So, where are we going?" Amity asked, "And is the blindfold really necessary?"

"Somewhere that is very important to both of us."

Luz landed and took Amity's blindfold off. Amity looked at where they were and gasped. Amity reached an arm out and touched the large tree that she remembered from Grom almost seven years ago.

"Luz-"

"I know how important this place is to you. It only seemed appropriate." Luz said, getting on a knee.

"Luz?!"

She pulled out a box and opened it, showing Amity the silver ring with a green diamond.

"Amity, for almost a third of my life you've been there for me. You've been there since I started at Hexside, you've been there when I was crowned Emperor, you were there for me after I... after I told you my mom died. Amity, you've been by my side as a friend, a girlfriend, and now I want to know, will you be by my side as my Empress?"

Amity smiled and nodded her head.

"Yes! Yes, I will!"

Amity hugged Luz and Luz smiled. For the first time in several years, she could say that she had a happy birthday. The two shared a big kiss and Amity took a picture of the ring and instantly posted it on Penstagram, with the caption: The Boiling Isles is getting a new Empress!

"I only posted it a minute ago and it's already got seven hundred likes and I'm trending." Amity said.

Luz had Amity put the scroll down. She stands up and holds out a hand.

"Come on, Amity. Dance with me."

Amity smiled and grabbed Luz's hand.

"Wow, I didn't actually think you'd do it." Luz said.

"That's what friends do." Amity said happily, before glaring at Luz.

Luz let out a nervous chuckle.

"You're never going to let me live that down, are you?" Luz asked.

"Nope."

They danced the rest of the night. Amity made Luz smile even more with three little words.

"Happy Birthday, Luz."

"Because of you... it really is."
