"How's it going boys?" Burt looked up from the engine he was inspecting, he hadn't expected to see half the football team in front of him.
"Dad we were wondering if you could help us on a project." Kurt asked swaying in his spot.
Wiping the grease from his hands Burt nodded to one of the other mechanics before joining the boys "I thought school hadn't started yet?"
"It hasn't." Puck shook his head "We're looking at building something and we're wondering if we could use your garage, cause I don't have one and Kurt says you might have all the tools we need."
"Is it gonna blow up my house?" Burt asked only slightly serious.
"They want to build me a chair that works on the track." Artie explained.
"That's nice boys." Burt nodded, "Just remember to put the tools back where you get them from."
"Thanks dad." Kurt waved.
"Hey if you can't find something let me know, I might have it here." Burt called heading back to the car.
"Thank you Mr. Hummel." Finn waved before getting in his truck.
"Good luck boys, I'm here if you need me."
"So your dad's okay with you having a bunch of guys over?" Sam asked.
"Why wouldn't he be?" Kurt asked serving the fresh lemonade he'd made.
"I got this one." Puck offered "Cause we don't want to sleep with him," Kurt squeaked "what it's true. Trust me if Kurtie wanted to bring a guy he was interested in here and his dad wasn't home he'd totally say no."
"You are horrible." Kurt shook his head handing Puck a drink.
"What?" Puck took the glass chugging it, handing it back he said "Tell me I'm wrong."
"You're not but you could at least put it a little more eloquently." Kurt chided.
"You lost me." Puck shook his head.
"Don't be so crude." Mike piped up from his spot in front of the lap top with Matt, they were researching different plans for different chairs with Arite.
"All of you need to loosen up and get laid." Puck shook his head.
"Says the baby daddy." Kurt chirped handing Shane and Sam both glasses of lemonade.
"Fine." Puck gruffed then addressed Sam "Kurt's dad trusts him not to be a hoe and he knows we don't like Kurt that way, he's like an annoying little sister."
"Thank you." Kurt nodded.
"Welcome." Puck grinned. "So how's it going boys?"
"So many choices." Artie said truthfully.
"They have some he can pedal with his hands." Matt pointed to the screen.
"I've seen those, I was running in a marathon and one of the guys had one of those, he made good time." Sam said joining the boys at the lap top. "Yea that's him." Sam nodded pointing at one of the pictures on the screen.
"Hold up." Puck held his hand up "You ran a marathon?"
"Yea." Sam nodded "Most things I do keep me in shape for football, I was on the swim team and ran track..."
"That's just sad." Puck shook his head "This is Lima, we don't do weird shit like that for fun, we do stupid shit like bowling and checking out the hotties." Sam chuckled. "Next time we bowl, we'll drag your ass along, you too Big Man and yes Mercedes bowls." Puck added seeing Shane slightly shake his head.
"I don't bowl."
"That's okay neither does Puck." Artie laughed, Puck smirked shrugging.
"The ladies like the view."
The boys had all left by the time Burt had come home, Kurt already had dinner in the oven "It will be finished by the time you're cleaned up." Kurt promised.
"Did you boys find one he liked?" Burt called as he headed to his room.
"Two of them, one he can use hand pedals." Kurt called back getting the dishes to set the table, Burt had invited Carole and Finn to dinner. "We'll tell you more at dinner."
Burt was cleaned up and in one of his flannels when he opened the door kissing Carole on the cheek and shaking Finn's hand as he stepped in behind her. "Come on in, Kurt's getting dinner on the table. It's some sort of chicken with vegetables. Kurt had told him before leaving for practice.
"Chicken cordon bleu, roasted rainbow carrots and creamy mashed potatoes." Kurt called out.
"Yes." Burt gave a fist pump at the one thing he recognized.
"What are rainbow carrots?" Finn whispered to Burt.
"It's okay, they're just different colors but they're still carrots." Burt whispered back.
"The table looks lovely Kurt." Carole smiled.
"Looks like a magazine picture." Burt said proudly.
Seeing Kurt all proud of himself Finn tried to find something nice to say to the other boy "It's like dinner at Tony Stark's." Kurt was puzzled for a moment but then smiled remembering the name from the movies that the boys had been talking about.
"Thank you Finn."
Carole glanced at Burt confused as he pushed in her chair "Super rich guy on the comic books, it's a good thing." Carole nodded.
"So," Kurt started as he served the food, he saw the apprehension on Finn's face as he plated the chicken "this is ham and cheese rolled in chicken and baked," Kurt smiled at Finn's sudden interest in the chicken "it can be fried but I wanted to try baking it first, I promise the carrots taste like carrots just more flavorful." he said switching from the chicken plater to the vegetables, Finn eyed the colorful carrots asking.
"This stuff is all stuff that's good for you?"
"Everything is good for you in moderation." Kurt chirped, he'd said it to his dad often enough it had become second nature to say it when talking about food "This is a very healthy dinner."
"C...can I have a plate for Santana?" Finn asked quietly poking at a carrot with his fork.
Kurt smiled "Of course, we must keep out little mami happy and healthy."
"How is she doing?" Burt asked as Kurt came around with the mashed potatoes.
"Her back hurts but the doctor said that's normal because she's carrying twins." Finn frowned.
"It is normal, even one baby causes backaches." Carole assured him.
"Brittany gives her backrubs and foot rubs, she says that helps." Finn added.
"It always helped me." Carole nodded.
"And she naps a lot." Finn added before asking Kurt "Can I have enough for Brittany too?"
"They'll be enough I can make a plate for Quinn too, she said she was staying with the girls until the room was finished." Kurt nodded taking his seat.
"They said it's gonna be Tuesday before it dries, Mr. and Mrs. Lopez are letting me see it before I go to work." Finn waited watching to see if anyone else was eating before he started, Burt was the first.
"This is really good son."
Finn eyed the carrots one last time before shoving a fork full in his mouth and slowly chewing, giving it a minute he gives Kurt a thumbs up, Kurt smiled knowing that's high praise from the giant boy.
"So how did the search go?" Burt asked.
"Artie found two he liked." Kurt said taking his first bite.
"One he can pedal with his hands." Finn added after swallowing. "Sam showed him, he said he saw a guy in a marathon with one."
"He'll have to build up strength if he wants to do that." Burt nodded.
"He lifts weights with us, Puck's his spotter." Finn said.
"Coach made him the team tutor, Santana is the Spanish tutor." Kurt informed their parents, seeing Finn frown Carole asked.
"Is there a problem with Santana tutoring?" Carole asked seeing the sour expression on her son's face.
"One of the guys made...noise when Coach said Santana would tutor the team." Finn muttered.
"Coach made him run laps, said he was off the team if he did it again." Kurt told them. "She wants us to start dressing nice on game day, like a button up shirt and tie she says gentlemen need to dress like gentlemen." Kurt nodded adding "Any one caught bullying is thrown off the team and suspended."
"What about the girls?" Carole asked knowing the boys had also been watching the Cheerios.
"We saw one girl run extra laps." Kurt said honestly.
"That was Bree, she was a freshman last year. Quinn said she was a pain in the a...butt." Finn said catching himself.
"Apparently still is, Mercedes said she lost it when she saw Santana and Quinn on the field, and then when Sue said they were team captains, that was the screaming we heard." Kurt told Finn. "Mercedes told me that Sue told her to get in line or get off the field."
"Is that going to solve it?" Carole looked to both boys.
"Sue has a lot of pull, she can end Bree's dreams of being a professional cheerleader before it even starts, she's not someone to mess with." Kurt admitted.
"She's was really weird today, she was smiling and let that one girl join the team." Finn shook his head.
"Brittany's friend Becky." Kurt nodded. "Yea, it's weird to see Sue being nice to someone like Becky when she's mean to everyone else."
"Like Becky?" Burt asked.
"Sh...she's..." Finn had already been yelled at about using the word retarded "in a special math class with Brittany." Finn settled on with a frown.
"She has down syndrome." Kurt explained.
"Oh." Carole nodded.
"Yea that." Finn pointed at Kurt.
"And she's nice to her." Burt asked wanting to make sure he'd heard the boys.
"Yea, she's like Sue's assistant." Finn nodded telling Burt what he'd seen. "She was handing out papers and watching Mercedes and Kurt sing to Santana."
"Sue called it Singing Cheerios practice, Becky picked our songs," Kurt chuckled "because Sue said we were singing to the babies and not Santana we sang songs like Row your boat, Baby Mine and Twinkle Twinkle little star."
"So they do this every dance movie?" Mercedes pointed to Mike and Brittany gliding around the floor in near perfect unison with the movie on screen. Quinn beamed watching the duo, Matt chuckled rubbing Santana's feet that rested in his lap.
"It's part of the fun." Matt admitted, Santana nodded watching them more than the movie, she loved watching Brittany dance whether it was alone or with Mike.
Out of the boys only Mike and Matt had come over just having missed Tina and Rachel leaving. "Did you guys figure out which one you're building?" Santana asked covering a yawn.
"We've narrowed it down to two different ones, one is a push and one is a hand pedal." Mike said as he and Brittany continued moving around the floor.
"Why not do both?" Santana asked not bothering to cover her yawn.
"Puck was going to talk to Quinn about it tomorrow." Matt answered.
"Why Tubbers?"
"Because Ducky, I said I would use my old Cheerios funds to finance the build, Brittany too." Quinn answered peaking at her daughter playing in the play pen, basically flailing her arms at the mobile attached to it.
"Do both, I'll throw money at it too." Santana shrugged, Quinn nodded.
"I'll let Puck know." Matt nodded pulling out his phone. Tapping a few times and scrolling he found Puck in his texts, Matt to Puck: Santana's in, girls say build both.
Puck to Matt: I'll let Artie know
"Sam says he saw a guy in a marathon in one of the pedal chairs, so once he builds up his arms Artie should be able to keep up with us." Matt said tucking his phone away. "It sits a little lower because it's a racer style..."
"So he'll be looking at our butts instead of our boobs?" Santana's eyebrow arched as she sarcastically said "Yay."
"Be nice." Quinn swatted her.
"He tried to take my girl, he's lucky he's still got wheels." Santana muttered.
Giving Santana's hand a squeeze Quinn murmured "Have I told you how proud I am of you?"
"You have." Santana squeezed back. "And I'm proud of you too."
