Chapter 45 : The End of Their Play
August 29, 2035. Sunday.
In the JSIB headquarters on the Chiba Ward, Iwayada Taneguchi who was just taking a sip to his coffee heard a call from his smartphone.
He puts the coffee on his desk before taking the phone.
"Oh, it's Kiritsuba-kun huh..." Taneguchi muttered as he saw the name of his caller.
He answered the call after seeing who is it.
"Head of Chief."
"Oh! Kiritsuba-kun, why do you call? As I recall, it's still not the time for your periodic report." Taneguchi said while looking at the windows on his office, seeing the sun was just rising on the sky.
"Head of Chief. I want to confess something to you."
He heard the tone of guilt in Kiritsuba's tone. It causes Taneguchi to become serious after hearing that, his lax attitude vanishing.
"What is it?" He asks with a serious tone.
"... I have betrayed our nation. I've colluded with a fairy." Kiritsuba said.
Then he goes on to explain everything that he have done since the day his daughter died. How he let Doris make a festival as a cover to abduct humans and make them as her soldiers. How her daughter was participating as a newly reincarnated fairy. How he let all of this go while turning his back at the maliciousness that was happening in his own station.
As he got to the end, Taneguchi was now having a complicated expression. It was both of a betrayed look and also understanding.
"... Why, out of all the time, did you decide to confess now. You have been doing this for so long, right?" Taneguchi asks while feeling somewhat sorry at the guy.
He knows what happened at that day. He knows how devastated Kiritsuba is after learning her daughter's suicide.
Kiritsuba was willing to even sell his soul just so he can see his daughter.
"... Minato-sama have opened my eyes." Kiritsuba said with, what Taneguchi thinks, a wry smile on his face.
"You mean, the leader of the Aqua Faction?"
"Yes. That's her."
After hearing that, Taneguchi can't help but unconsciously made a strained smile.
'She have done it again! That girl is really too abnormal!' He thought to himself as he recalls about the leader of the Aqua Faction.
It also tells him that Kiritsuba have a pretty outdated knowledge. It seems like that guy doesn't know that Aqua didn't believe in the supernatural, even with the fact facing her.
"For all it's worth, I am sorry what happened to your daughter." Taneguchi said to the guy on the other side of this call.
Due to Kiritsuba's strong sense of duty for his nation, he ended up neglecting his daughter. And they took advantage of it, calling him the role model for all supernatural agents on Japan. This causes him to always focus on his work to meet the great expectations of his peers, Taneguchi included.
"It's my fault. You shouldn't apologize to me, Head of Chief." Kiritsuba said.
"Then let's leave it at that." Taneguchi said before he continues. "Because this just came to light, it is with my judgement that you will be taken on our watchlist. Your position as the Section Leader will be revoked and I will have to demand that you get back to the main headquarters to discuss your punishment in more detail. Don't even bother fleeing, I'll be calling a Section Leader to get you." Taneguchi said with his tone serious.
"I will never." Kiritsuba simply replied.
After that, the call ended.
'... This matter should have fallen to Shirone, being the one in charge of Minato Ward. But that Entity is also there. Shirone was also busy looking out for those weird residents that lives on Minato Aqua's residence. So I think it should be that guy who should take care of this.' He thought to himself as he put a new number on his phone and then press the call button.
When the call connected, he put it on his ears again and said on the other side.
"Nishida, you have a new assignment to take."
"... This is really troublesome..." That was what Ayumi was muttering to herself as she sits on the plaza.
Along with her are the multitude of fairies and also their little princess, Himeragi.
The sun has just risen while all of them are eating some popsicles (which Ayumi bought for all of them).
After their crying session, Ayumi thought of something she could do until she guided all of them to Nakatane. Of course, the fairies are all unwilling and are also pouting on her way.
It was cute to the point that Ayumi just can't take them seriously at all.
After seeing some shops that are still open even in midnight, she buys a lot of their products and gave it to these fairies so they will stop being sad.
And after a lot of time, they finally relented.
'I am still not sleeping. And it seems like the sun has already risen.' Ayumi thought to herself while internally sighing. 'Well, I can't just leave them alone. They are maliciously pranking the people here.' Ayumi continued with those thought.
She doesn't want to kill them. It was not in her nature to be that violent. But she don't know what to do with these fairies. She is thinking what to do with them without being too violent with it.
'... I think the Japanese Government was aware of the supernatural, maybe I can leave these girls into their custody?' Ayumi thought as she recalls her encounter on Nishida.
After thinking about it for a moment, she have decided to do just that.
'With this, the problem will be solved. No one will become a victim of these children.' Ayumi said to herself internally as she looks at the fairies still busy on their popsicles.
She was just standing up when she felt a presence coming closer to them.
She already knew about this one since this came to this city but she tried ignoring it, thinking that it was just going around the city. But now that it was coming in this way with some sort of intent, Ayumi can't ignore this presence anymore.
She looks at the direction of where this presence came from and saw the distant figure of a girl who also have a blonde hair. She seems to also be a fairy as seen from the two pairs of transparent wings in her back.
This girl seems to carry herself with dignity. Each of her steps are graced with elegance and authority. She walks like an adult, which felt a bit weird because of her childish appearance.
As that lone fairy got near them, her gaze was directed at Himeragi.
It seems like Himeragi and the others have also noticed her because they have stood up on where they are sitting and was now looking at her. Himeragi was the only one glaring at her though.
"Oh, Little Princess! I am glad that you are fine! I didn't see you in your own throne so I thought something has happened to you! It was a relief to see that you are okay!" The girl excitedly say.
"... Queen Doris!" Himeragi grunted that fairy's name with a clear hate in it.
'Queen Doris? Isn't this the one that this Himeragi thought I was working for?... So this is her?' Ayumi thought to herself as she recalls her brief battle with Himeragi.
"Don't worry! I will quickly explain what happened. For now, let us go back to your own place so we can discuss what we should do next." Doris seems to have not noticed Himeragi's displeasure as she just continues on with her speech.
"Hah? And where is your entourage of fairies?" Himeragi asks while looking down at Doris.
Doris felt a bit off with how Himeragi was acting towards her but she just continues on.
"They have been captured by a group of malicious evil. But worry not, it is still under my control. So long as you cooperate with me, we can easily liberate our kin!" Doris replied while giving some passion in her gestures.
"... Pfft!"
"... Huh?"
Doris was dumbfounded at Himeragi's attitude.
"Fwahahahahahahahahaha!" Himeragi laughs while pointing her finger at Doris' direction. "Serves you right!" She said before laughing a lot more.
The other fairies that was along with Himeragi also laugh along with her.
For them, they thought that Doris was just joking around. So even if they are loyal to Doris, being childish in nature they also like to make fun of her whenever a chance came through.
They still thought they are playing.
Only them thought so. Because Himeragi thinks otherwise.
She was truly looking at Doris in contempt. She was gazing at her in glee of her misfortune.
As long as Himeragi remembers, she was Doris' enemy. She was a rival that she must defeat at all cost.
And her perception was like that because Doris herself led it to be so.
She have told Himeragi repeatedly that they are rivals taking over this island. So Himeragi took that fact into heart and was really trying to destroy Doris with anything she can think of.
All because of Doris' machinations.
Doris thinks that Himeragi knows that this is just a play between them. One word and they will quickly forget about this and look for another game to play.
But no, it wasn't like that at all.
Doris' game design was the only thing Himeragi knows. It was her own reality that she wholeheartedly believes.
She was a Fairy Princess struggling to defeat the villainous Fairy Queen. If she wins, she will reign as the true ruler of this island. Anyone will respect her as is natural of her station.
That was what Himeragi believes all the time.
Doris was almost disillusioned at what is happening. She can't understand why Himeragi was laughing at her. She just told her that their kin was taken by some evil group but all they did was laugh at her.
"Little Princess?"
"You don't have any qualifications to call me affectionately!" Himeragi yelled with an angry tone.
The other fairies just "Oohed" and "Aahed" at her words in amazement. It felt like they are just watching something fun.
"What is happening? Why are you so hostile to me?" Doris asks with her voice cracking for a bit. "O-oh! That's right! You think this is still a game... this is not the time for the game now! I was telling the truth about our ki-!?"
"I could care less about your situation!" Himeragi replied in displeasure. "Hearing you begging for my help? How pathetic!" She said with a smug tone.
"... What is happening...?" Doris mutters to herself in confusion as she stares at the one she looks as her equal.
Himeragi was looking down on her. The fairies are laughing at her expense.
While that is happening, Ayumi was just looking at this scene. She was trying to learn what is happening based on their conversation.
She also doesn't have the courage to cut through their argument so she was standing besides them like a bystander.
'Hmm... I don't know why but I predict that they are not in line with each other.' She thought to herself while looking at Doris and Himeragi.
"... Himeragi..." Ayumi heard Doris mutters that. "It seems you have forgotten how I am the reason your still alive." Doris said while gritting her teeth. "Why are you doing this to me!" She yelled with a glare in her way.
"Hah? You sure say something amusing!" Himeragi said in derision. "We've been enemies since the start! Isn't that what you said, Queen Doris!" She continued while still looking down on her.
Doris can only look at her with a shocked expression. She was trying to process what Himeragi just said.
'... She truly believes I am her enemy?' She thought in shock. 'But that was just a part of the game... why does she...'
Then her attention goes to the fairies that was along with Himeragi.
"You!" Doris shrill in anger. "Did you lie to her!? Are you going against me just to put yourself in a good light in her eyes!?" Doris yelled while glaring at the fairies who were just watching their verbal showdown.
She doesn't believe that Himeragi will truly hate her. For her, Himeragi is a good child and was also the one she looks as a true equal. She thinks Himeragi thinks the same.
Anytime they meet each other as rivals, she thinks Himeragi knew that they are just playing at each other. Each of her words are just a way to tease her friend.
But Himeragi doesn't really see it that way. She was really looking at her as an enemy. Someone she needs to strike down and step on to go beyond.
Doris can't accept the fact that Himeragi was turning against her. They are just playing at each other. She wouldn't seriously think it as real, is what Doris was thinking.
So she thinks the fairies that she assigned to be in Himeragi's side must have said something to her so she will see her in a bad light.
She can see them doing just that. Fairies will do anything so long as it's fun to them, even if it's causing discord between themselves.
Just like how mischievous child will unknowingly cause chaos to a community, fairies will also do that without regards to the consequences.
"Huh?"
"Un?"
"Umu?"
The fairies in question just tilted their heads in confusion at her accusation. They still didn't get that Doris was serious about this.
"You dare accused my servants without concern to me!" Himeragi said in indignation.
"Himeragi! This is just a misunderstanding! We are just playing around! Why are you taking this so seriously?" Doris tried to explain like that, trying to appeal at the little princess.
"I told you to be silence! Without your entourage, you are nothing now! You have no right to speak to me anymore!" Himeragi said with a harsh tone.
"No... this is not right..." Doris said in horror.
"... I think that was going too far."
When Himeragi heard Ayumi mutters that, she flinches. It was also the case for the fairies that was along with her.
Ayumi was just standing on the side. She doesn't want to get involved with their verbal showdown. She doesn't even know if this Doris person is also someone who might cause danger to Matsuri or even to any other person.
But she can't help but utter those words when she see that Doris was clearly being overwhelmed. Because she felt she looks too pitiful so she unconsciously said those words.
Himeragi and the others are scared of Ayumi. She was the one who singlehandedly incapacitated them without so much as lifting a finger. She just stood on their way and they were just defeated just like that (on their perspective).
Her overpowering neutral force is simply too much for these fairies. They were trying to run away at the fact that she was there and was trying to pour their dissatisfaction at Doris who came here asking for help just so they can ignore the presence of Ayumi.
They didn't know what happens on Doris' side but they think it was not that serious.
Fairies thinks like this, so they are mostly called as childish and stupid.
Anyway, Himeragi and the others panics when they heard Ayumi speaks. They thought they will be smack in their head again.
Of course Ayumi won't do that. She just smacked their heads because they won't stop attacking her.
Himeragi thinks that Ayumi is Doris' new champion so she was also scared. She was trying to forget that she was besides them and try to gloat at Doris with all she have.
Yes, a lot of fairies have a short attention span. So most of the time, they will do a lot of stupid things.
Looking at the hooded girl, she saw that she wasn't angry. Though, they won't know whether she won't really attack because she can use her telekinetic power even without moving her body.
Doris also looks at Ayumi but she wasn't really afraid. She was confused why a human was here along with them.
She can't see any of the signs that she was hypnotized or anything. Though she wasn't really sure because Ayumi's upper face was hidden in her hood.
Doris also got a glance of Himeragi's reaction when Ayumi speaks and she got a horrible misunderstanding with it.
"Who are you!?" Doris asks with a glare.
After thinking about it for a bit, she thinks that the fairies might really be innocent and this hooded person was the one who instigated this conflict.
'You dare mess with us fairies! You must be tired of living then!' Doris thought as she glared at Ayumi.
Ayumi was still trying to conjure some conclusions about what is happening. She saw Doris glaring at her way when this fairy notice Himeragi and the others flinches when she speaks, so she predicted that she might have misunderstood something.
So Ayumi decided to clear this up.
"I am a friend of a student currently in a camping trip here. I encountered these fairies trying to conscript my friend and her classmates so I tried to stop them. I really think that this conscription thing must be stop. I hope you understand why I am doing this." Ayumi explained all of that, hoping that Doris understands and just leave the people here alone.
As stated, Ayumi doesn't want to harm anyone. She prefers ending things peacefully.
But Doris only heard it as her opposing their ways of doing things. She doesn't like that.
"... Did you do something to them?" Doris asks in a threatening tone.
"I didn't really mean it. I was just trying to stop them! I mean, I didn't intend to make them cry!" Ayumi replied in a fluster.
Hearing her say that she made them cry, Doris' anger goes through the roof. Himeragi's verbal lashing and the fairies harsh treatment of her was quickly taken to the back of her mind.
For her, it was now Ayumi's fault that everything was going wrong.
"I'll break you!" Doris declared as she chanted a spell.
It was a simple spell (for fairies) that conjures a spear of light that can harm a soul it gets into contact.
But before she can even move an inch of her finger, she felt a weight that seems to prevent from moving any nerves of her body.
"What!?" Doris yelped in surprise.
"Uhmm... I think we should calm down first and talk this out. I want to end things peacefully." Ayumi said while putting her telekinesis on Doris so she can't move.
Doris was surprised that she was held like this by someone she sees as a human. She tries to dematerialize herself to get to another place but somehow, every bit that made up her physical body seems to be stuck in place.
'What... how!?' She thought in shock.
She didn't know that Ayumi was holding up every particles that made up her body. She excluded holding the necessary parts so she can still survive even with every part of her body disabled.
She can't turn to her spiritual form if she can't dematerialize herself.
"Look... I know that you people are the one who made that suspicious festival. I already got that fact with Himeragi-san." Ayumi said to Doris. "I just want you to stop doing this nonsense. I don't know what is happening but it was very concerning that people will get spirited away just so they become some sort of brainwashed soldiers that you can use wherever." Ayumi explained to her. "I have a friend that almost became like that. If not for me here, she might have vanish without me knowing any better." Ayumi said that with a serious tone.
And she would have regretted it if that happens. So to make it so this doesn't happen anymore, she wanted to stop this once and for all.
"... What are you gonna do about it if I don't want to?" Doris said in a challenging tone, still trying to get out of her telekinetic hold.
"... I'll force you to do so." Ayumi answered with a determined expression.
"You... force m-eeeeep!?"
Doris was trying to talk derisively at Ayumi but when she took her attention to Ayumi, she was surprised at what she is seeing.
She was very focused on the telekinetic hold that was holding her that she didn't notice Ayumi was releasing an immense amount of energy that seems to be devouring her whole being.
She have just notice this now because awhile ago, before Doris attacks, Ayumi was still trying to hide her aura. She doesn't want to scare the fairies anymore.
But because Doris tried to attack her, so she releases some of her strength to use her telekinesis.
And using any of her supernatural powers means using her Essence. So this is the only time Doris can see her aura.
'What... is that?' Doris asks internally while feeling a fear that she can't describe to herself.
At first glance, the hooded person looks like a human. But by feeling this force of unknown energy, she can confidently say that this person can't be a human at all.
She can see herself higher than humans but if it comes to other strong beings (like dragons), she will quickly hide or cower in fear.
And this one was clearly higher in rank than her. This hooded person easily manage to restrain her without moving an inch of her body.
She can sense that she was using some sort of psychic ability but the source wasn't her Psionic energy. It came from this mysterious neutral energy that seems to be turning itself into Psionic just so it can realize this telekinetic powers.
Ayumi didn't know what she's thinking. She was just trying to discourage her of doing whatever.
"I don't know why you have to use those people to do your wars but I really hope you will just stop it. I don't want to get very forceful." Ayumi said to the fairy.
While all of this is happening, Himeragi was staring at Ayumi in shock. She didn't expect Ayumi to face Doris like that.
'Isn't she a spy of Doris?' Himeragi thought in confusion.
She thought Ayumi was one of Doris' champion. She was trying to avert her face at the fact that she might be taken as a reward to please Doris.
But it seems like Ayumi wasn't really a part of her group.
'Then who is she!?' Himeragi thought in bewilderment.
Doris was also shocked. She can't understand why Ayumi is doing this.
'She said she have a mortal friend in this place... is it for that reason that she was trying to stop us?' Doris thought to herself.
"... Please." Ayumi once again requested of her.
'But... I still have two of the Fairy Chalices!' Doris thought to herself.
She have hid it in her magical treasury that exist in her spiritual form. So she can use it inside her body.
She tries to absorb the accumulated Mana on those two chalices, giving her a boost on her strength.
She was planning to brute force her way out of this restraining hold of telekinesis.
'... Gghk!? How!?' But when she tried to move, it felt like her body wasn't even obeying her will.
Ayumi felt some sort of burst of energy on Doris so she strengthen her telekinetic hold of her. She predicted the amount of power she needs to use so it won't harm her. She doesn't want to unintentionally injured Doris. She just wants to stop her from attacking her.
Doris was becoming more frantic. She was scared of Ayumi but she also doesn't want all of this to end.
She was having a lot of fun since coming to Tanegashima. She can do everything she wants with no one saying anything else. She was free of any rules. She can play as much as she wants. She can decide what she wanted to do.
And now, it was coming to an end. Someone was stopping her again from achieving her desires. Just like how the Fairy Monarchs restrained her to do what she wants.
She hated it. She doesn't want to run away again and find another place to settle on.
"WHAT RIGHT DO YOU HAVE TO STOP ME LIKE THIS!? I JUST WANTED TO PLAY! WHY DOES EVERYONE TRY TO STOP ME FROM DOING THAT!" So she snaps in anger.
She yelled her frustration from having all of her plans failing. All of her hard work was destroyed just like that.
"Playing?" Ayumi utter in bewilderment. "So this is just a game for you?" She asks with a hint of coldness in her tone.
"OF COURSE! THEIR JUST HUMANS! IT IS ONLY RIGHT FOR US TO TOY WITH THEM!" Doris shouted in reply at her. "WHY DO YOU CARE!? YOUR ALSO NOT HUMAN, RIGHT?" She asks in anger while glaring at her.
Ayumi was startled at that accusation. She didn't expect someone to say that to her.
'... I am not human?' She thought to herself in doubt. 'Well, if you think about it for a moment, what I can do is something not possible for a normal person. So I think she was right to call me not human.' She thought to herself in self depreciation. 'Still, I still see myself as a human. I am not going to look at myself different from any other person. I won't be prideful and I won't be arrogant!' She swore to herself in her mind.
Because for her, she only acquired this inhuman feats by cheating her way with her cheat ability. She doesn't want to admit of doing this with her effort because she cheated. She won't be proud of what she can do because she cheated.
She was a cheater. That's why she will look down at herself. Always remain humble and polite to everyone. Because she knows all of her abilities didn't originate from her. It was just a product of her cheats.
She became inhuman just because she cheated. So she will take conscious effort not to take pride of it. She will take every effort to contain her peaceful and normal life. She will convince herself that she is still a human.
It is the only way so she doesn't forget who she really is.
"I am a human. I only got lucky by the power lottery." So Ayumi replied to her in a calm tone.
The fairies that was along with Himeragi seems to have finally noticed that something is not right with Doris. They wanted to help her now, seeing as she is becoming too emotional.
But they froze on their steps when Ayumi just glance at their way. Their fear was much greater than their willingness to help the one who truly leads them, the self proclaimed Fairy Queen Doris.
Doris was still hurling abusive speeches on Ayumi. She can't accept the fact that a being that pretends itself to be a human (she thinks) will stop the one that she took all of her hard work to build up. She doesn't want things to end like this.
"What are you implying!"
Their attention was taken to Himeragi who suddenly asks that in confusion.
"Are you implying that our long time rivalry is just a game!" Himeragi said as she glared at Doris.
Doris was confused why Himeragi was asking that. Even the fairies that were along with her are surprise at it.
"... What are you saying? Of course it was a game." Doris answered, her attention was now focused on Himeragi.
Doris didn't know that Himeragi really thinks that they were at odds on each other. Even when Himeragi bares her hostility against her, Doris was thinking that Himeragi was still playing their game without her knowing that she is serious about it.
Even the fairies that were along with Himeragi were surprised when they heard her asking that. They also thought that Himeragi knows that they are just playing.
Fairies, other than having a childish mind, they also have a slow perception of time.
So it wasn't surprising for them not to notice that something was amiss. It was because their mind was always stuck to whatever they are doing, in a way that seems to make humans bored to death.
Just like their game. For them, it was still a short time since they started doing this. It's been a decade that they are doing this activity but they still want to do more of it.
So they also think that it also applies Himeragi. It would be a very short time for her.
But they didn't know that it wasn't the case at all. Being a former human, doing this "War" was a pretty long time for her. As far as she can remember, Doris was her enemy. It was because Doris said they will go into war at each other so she wholeheartedly believes it.
And because as a former human, she will try to rationalize it. She doesn't know why Doris wanted to get into war with her. So she made up her own idea and thinks that Doris might be her enemy and it was up to her to oppose her and build her own kingdom.
Fairies won't think like that. Because for them, those types of talks is just a game for them.
Anyway, this causes Himeragi to have a experience a lot of feelings inside of her.
A sense of betrayal, confusion, and her belief being crushed.
"... It's just... a game...?" Himeragi muttered in a weak voice, her authoritative tone was gone.
"... What?" Doris asks while feeling somewhat worried at Himeragi's state.
Himeragi just ignored her and turned her attention to the fairies that was along with her.
"... This is a lie right? There is no way that this is just a game!"
But the fairies doesn't know why she was panicking as they bluntly answered her.
"But it was just a game."
"What's wrong, Your Highness?"
"Hime-chan, you are still acting up your character even in this situation?"
"Yes, it was just our playing field."
"It was our pass time right?"
And a lot more answered her with their differing replies. Some of them are becoming worried because of her confused and panicking state.
Ayumi quickly got into it after a moment of hearing about their conversation.
'So she really doesn't know?' Ayumi thought to herself before looking at Doris. 'Then she was the one who leads all this mess?' She thought while focusing her attention at Doris.
While that is happening, Himeragi was now denying the truth that was presented to her.
"No! This is not true! Aren't we foes!?" She said with some desperation in her tone.
"... Foes?" Doris mutters with a dumbfounded look.
"Why are you being dumbfounded like that! Aren't you the one who told me that!? Aren't we enemies going at each other's throat!?" Himeragi yelled as she glares at the self proclaimed Fairy Queen with desperation on her tone.
"... What are you talking about?" Doris asks confusion clear in her face. "Do you truly believe the setting of our game play?" Doris says while looking at her with some concern.
The other fairies were also growing more concerned at Himeragi.
But Himeragi doesn't care. She wanted someone to deny Doris' claims. She can't accept that her entire reality is just a lie.
"Hey you! Tell me that what we are doing is not a game!" Himeragi demanded to one of the fairies.
"Eh!?... but this is just a game..."
"No! It doesn't!" Himeragi denied with a shout. "This can't be true!" She yelled before turning her attention to another fairy. "Isn't that right!" She said with desperation.
"Hime-chan, your scaring me..." That fairy replied with anxiousness.
"Y-yes... what about those humans!? Aren't they coming to us to be personally chosen as my champion?" She said as she recalls about the festival.
"Eh... We thought you knew that we are guiding them through a mental suggestion." One of the fairies answered her.
"No way..." Himeragi cried in defeat.
Her legs lost it's strength as she got to the ground in shock. She can't believe that everything that she believes was just a part of a game. A game that Doris personally made.
Doris seems to have finally piece it together because she suddenly grew terrified.
'No... so she truly believes that we are fighting each other!?' Doris thought in horror.
The fairies still doesn't get what is happening as they try to ask what is wrong with Himeragi.
But Himeragi have enough. She can't stand this anymore.
"Enough! I don't want to see all of you anymore! You lied to me!" She cried as some tears falls to her eyes.
She doesn't want to process the fact that anything she knew is just a game. Everything she believes what she is was just nothing but her delusions. All of these fairies that she thought was loyal to her we're colluding with her supposed to be archnemesis.
'If this is not true... then who am I!?' She thought in anguish.
As the fairies heard her state that with a betrayed look on their way, all of them was shocked. Then they became terrified at her words.
Even Doris was horrified at her words.
'She... hates us!?' She thought in shock.
They don't know it but Himeragi's innate ability to be likened by spirits are affecting this fairies. As those decades passed interacting with her, all of these fairies looks at Himeragi like how a person looks at their beloved family.
So hearing her that, which basically means that she hates them, they are shocked to their core. They are really baffled that she hated them.
They don't want her to hate them.
"Himera-"
"Silence!" Himeragi yelled in anger. "Leave me alone! I don't want to see you anymore!" She cried as she mopes on the ground and curled herself.
She was crying. She doesn't want to see the people that gave her a life that was just a lie.
Doris was speechless. Even the fairies were speechless.
They can only stare at her with a feeling of sadness in them. They don't know why they are being hated by Himeragi now.
Only Doris knew. Because she was the only one who can think competently than her fellow fairies.
'... This is my fault... I should have seen this coming...' Doris thought in regret.
Ayumi can only watch that scene while feeling a bit left out. Though she is still holding onto Doris with her Psychokinesis so she doesn't escape.
While that is happening, the sound of her phone's ringtone suddenly plays. Though it seems like that these fairies are still too concentrated on their problems so the atmosphere wasn't spoiled. Only Ayumi felt that this ringtone was breaking it. (Her ringtone is a cutesy anime song about magical girls and love and friendship).
Ayumi quickly took the phone out of her pocket and quickly change her opinion of it after seeing that Fubuki was the one calling into her.
"I wonder what is it?" She asks to herself in wonder as she took the call.
Going back in time for a little bit...
Fubuki was currently in the room where Aqua and the others are also staying. It seems like Aqua was already sleeping on the bed when they came back here.
Fubuki was sleepy so she was planning to get back to her own room but she heard the ringtone of a phone. She looks at it and saw that Shion seems to be the one who was being called by someone.
Shion talks to the person on the other side, and with Fubuki's sharpened senses, she manage to get the gist of what they are talking about.
It seems like the government have learned about the incident in this place and they are asking for their cooperation to find and capture all the culprits of this case.
They already have all the fairies (except Doris) that was held by Ayame.
Somehow, Ayame managed to make them behave. She doesn't even tell how she does that. Her only explanation to them is that she talks it out to them.
Anyway, Shion said that they don't know where is the fairy that escaped from them. They suspect that she was going on Nakatane due to her trail being last discovered on the path to that city.
After hearing up to that part, Fubuki thought about Ayumi being there. So she decided to ask for her help.
So she called her.
"... Eh!? You already have her in your hands!?"
So while calling her, Ayumi seems to have predicted that she was talking about the fairy that was currently being flustered besides Himeragi and told her that she was in her custody.
Fubuki's sentence was noticed by the others. Shion look her way to ask her.
"Who did you find?" She asks with a curious tone.
"Uh... My friend Ayumi seems to have captured the Mastermind. She is currently on Nakatane."
"... What!?"
Shion can only utter that in surprise.
It was nearing noon when Ayumi heard her ringtone again.
After all of that drama that happened in that morning, Ayumi managed to take all the fairies back with her on this place. This is the room that she rented to stay.
Though, she also rented another room for Himeragi alone because she wanted to be left alone for awhile.
It seems like the fairies turned submissive and depressed after Himeragi's strong reaction at their lies. They regretted not telling Himeragi what is truly happening.
Doris was also in shocked. For her, Himeragi won't hate her just because of that issue. She thinks she is a forgiving person.
Anyway, Ayumi is still not sleeping because she was busy looking out for these fairies. Also, she was confident that Himeragi won't slip up with her even when she was in another room because of her abilities. Just by using both Psychokinesis and Analysis, she can see whether Himeragi was moving out or not. There is also her Prediction ability which let's her predict what she is doing even without a visual confirmation.
Ayumi, even without sleeping, seems to still be able to be fully awake. It was because of her superhuman parameters. She can easily stay awake for a year without any repercussions because of her superhuman body.
'It seems like they are there now.' Ayumi thought to herself.
After getting the call on Fubuki, she learned about her being involved with these fairies along with Aqua's group. It seems like she also fought a raging beast that seems to have change the topography on the outskirts of Nishinoomote.
It honestly scared Ayumi to hear that Fubuki faced something like that. She was planning to use her Portal to get to Fubuki's side as quickly as possible but Fubuki said that she was alright and she should just wait for the next call.
It seems like Fubuki told the others about Ayumi's ability to teleport to other places. Well, Ayumi told all of her ability to Fubuki because she fully trusted her.
'Well, if it's only Aqua and the others, then I think it was fine.' Ayumi thought to herself at that time.
She was planning to recruit them so even if they learned about her abilities, it was not a big deal for her. They will just learn it later anyway because she will get into contact with them in the future.
"Anyway, those people are there. Let's get going then." Ayumi told to the many fairies currently standing listlessly on this room.
"... Yes..." Doris replied with a depressed tone.
As to where they are going, she was going to use her Portal to connect to where Shion and the others are waiting.
After learning of her ability, Shion decided where they would meet up. The people from the Japanese Secret Intelligence Bureau (which she finally learned what they are called as) requested Shion to surrender the fairies to the Japanese Government. They will be coming here in this noon using their fastest private plane to get to Nishinoomote.
Shion was the one who decided the place they will meet.
Ayumi learned from Shion that the fairies are going to be send back to their land. It seems like the leaders of these fairies were looking for the fairies that left their lands. It seems like it's not only Doris who left her land, but there are other groups of fairies who also did it.
Ayumi recalled the place that Shion told her and then created a portal to get into there.
After creating a portal, she urges the fairies to get into there first.
While that is happening, she also opened a portal to the other room to get Himeragi.
Himeragi was also one of the culprits of this incident, even if she is unaware of it. And she is also a fairy, so Ayumi thinks that Himeragi should also be taken to the designated place.
As she got to Himeragi, she can see that the girl is still moping. It seems like her high and haughty attitude was all gone and the only one she can see is a depressed and confused young girl.
"... Himeragi-san... it is time." Ayumi said to her.
Himeragi looks at her for a moment before she silently stood up on her curled up position. She wordlessly walks pass Ayumi and get into the portal.
Ayumi also followed after that.
She have already told the fairies that she will surrender them to the authorities here so they know what they should expect. Though they are too depressed to even think of escaping.
Haseno Nishida was tense as he wait for the fairies to get to this warehouse.
After acquiring the order from Taneguchi to take care of the mess from Tanegashima, Nishida quickly arrange for some men along with some of their fastest private planes to get to this place as soon as possible.
It should have been another Section Leader who was taking care of this but Kinsaku Kiritsuba was one of the culprits of this case, and the other Section Leader that was related to this case was busy looking out for the other people on Aqua's residence.
And because the one he is currently assigned to lookout for was in that island, so it falls to his hand to take care of this mess.
The only good thing about this is that everything is already done. Shion and the others have taken care of all the culprits here. The only worrying thing is that, Hoshimachi Ayumi was also involved in this incident.
Shion told them about this empty warehouse that she discovered so they move here and clear the vicinity of crowds using their magic wards. This is a type of Ward that people who have low or no supernatural power will feel hesitant to get closer.
Along with Nishida and his men are the two members of the Aqua Faction, Murasaki Shion and Yuzuki Choco.
Also, there is the culprit himself. Tanegashima's Section Leader Kinsaku Kiritsuba.
There is a strange cuff with some symbols in his left wrist. This cuff is a sealing item that repress the usage of the wearer's supernatural powers. It was a strong one, capable of resisting even a first class mage.
This is enough to detain Kiritsuba.
Though even if they didn't do this, he won't even run away. He wanted to atone for his sins.
As to why he was here along with them, it was because of his request.
He wanted to see his daughter for one last time before they took him back to Tokyo.
Other than them, there are also some special personage that was standing just behind them.
These are fairies. Besides the fairies that were captured by Shion and the others, there are also two fairies that are much more special than them. They are not just any fairies, but the Fairy Monarchs themselves.
A petite girl exuding elegance and grace was standing besides a long haired effeminate-looking man. They are garbed in dress and suit that was so gaudy and showy, but also looks decent and easy to move on.
These two are Titania and Oberon. The Fairy Queen and the Fairy King themselves.
They have come here at the call of Shion.
Though, it only became possible because these two Fairy Monarchs were friends with Aqua somehow.
Anyway, these two are here to take the fairies back to their homeland, and also give some punishment to those unruly fairies.
So it was not surprising that Nishida is tense. He was standing along some of the most terrifying beings in this world.
Fairy Monarchs, real Demon Realm dwellers, and later on is a (suspected) Cosmic Entity.
'And speak of the devil...' Nishida thought as he felt a strange power suddenly manifesting in the middle of the open space of this warehouse.
A rip in space appeared on that open space before it became a circular hole that leads to another place.
From there, they can see the fairies getting to this place through that portal.
'Portal creation... that was very hard to pull off without the necessary knowledge for it. It also needs an extensive source of power.' Nishida thought to himself. 'But talking about that person, this should be simple for her.' He concluded in his mind.
While that is happening...
"Oh my, is that really you Doris?" Titania, the petite elegant lady, asks with a small gasp.
"..." Doris doesn't have the heart to even talk to her.
She is still depressed because Himeragi said she hates her.
"What's that. You seem to be very depressed. Are you that sad because these people manage to stop your insanity?" Titania continued while looking at her with some concern in her eyes.
"..." Doris only glances at her before she lowered her head.
"... Well, if she doesn't want to talk, just let her be." That was Oberon who said that.
"Hmph! I told them not to underestimate the humans too much. But now, look at them!" Titania said as she turned her head with a pout.
As they are talking like that, Himeragi was the next to appear in the portal. The Ayumi appeared moments after Himeragi got into this place.
After that, the portal vanishes like it wasn't there to begin with.
Titania and Oberon who were having an idle chat on each other suddenly turned silent. Their narrowed gaze was now focused on Ayumi.
'Who is that personage... no, that Entity?' Titania thought while feeling threatened from the aura that Ayumi was releasing.
Ayumi felt their gazes onto her so she quickly shrinks into herself.
Even with her confidence, she is still pretty shy with a large crowd. And there is a large crowd now so she was feeling a bit panicky here.
Shion was also looking at Ayumi with some awe in her face. There is also some envy in her expression.
'I could have done that too if I was given enough time!' Shion thought to herself.
Nishida took the initiative to speak to Ayumi, being the one who experience doing that on their first encounter.
"Hoshimachi-sama, we are grateful for your support on our problem. This nation truly appreciates your actions." He flattered her first, still thinking that she was a being beyond them.
Ayumi only nodded on his way. She was also making sure to put her hood a bit more down so the others doesn't see her face. She is that shy to a lot of new faces.
"The people here are those part of the Aqua Faction. It was a group renowned for one of being the strongest in this nation. These two are Murasaki Shion and Yuzuki Choco." Nishida took the initiative to introduce the two to her, not knowing that she already knows them. "That two are the Fairy Monarchs themselves. Fairy Queen Titania and Fairy King Oberon." He finished in that note.
"... It is my pleasure to meet you, I am the Queen of the Alps, Titania."
"And I am the Ruler of the Fey, Oberon." Oberon finishes before adding. "May I ask what do you go by?"
"... I'm Hoshimachi Ayumi." Ayumi replied with a soft tone.
She was a bit nervous when she learned that she was talking to the leaders of these fairies. Well, Shion told her that they will be here, but she didn't expect that they will be interested with her.
... Well, she expected it with her Prediction ability. But she doesn't want to acknowledge that fact because she thinks she is not that interesting at all.
"I am curious what a being from the great beyond is doing here, but I won't pry into your matters." Titania stated while her gaze was still pointed at Ayumi.
"... Thank you?" Ayumi replied while feeling a bit confused about her statement.
"Anyway, I am grateful for your help. We manage to safeguard another batch of fairies." Titania said in gratitude to Ayumi before she faces Doris. "Now then Doris, along with her compatriots, we will now go back to our homeland." She all but demanded to them, not giving them the option to reject it at all.
"... Another batch?" Ayumi ask in curiosity.
"Oh, you didn't know?" Titania said in surprise. "Well, after this fairy left our domain, other rebellious-minded fairy also followed along with her lead. It got to the point that the both of us needs to be more stricter to our domain." Titania said while glancing at Doris.
'... I see, so this fairy was the one who instigated something troublesome to their homeland.' Ayumi thought to herself in realization.
Seeing that Ayumi wasn't going to ask anything more, the two Fairy Monarchs turned their attention to Shion.
"Well then, tell Aqua-chan that we said hi." Oberon said to the witch.
"Yeah, I'll do that." Shion replied in a non-committal manner.
"Ah... it is really sad that I didn't manage to see that cute little mortal. I wanted to play with her again." Titania said with some regret in her tone.
She is talking about Aqua of course. Due to some reason, she became very friendly with Aqua.
"She was sleeping. What can we do?" Shion said that with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Well, I guess I can't interrupt her beauty sleep." Titania said with an understanding nod.
While they are conversing at each other, Ayumi notice Kiritsuba looking at Himeragi.
She saw Kiritsuba getting near at the girl with two men near him. These men seems to be guarding him in case that he did something fishy.
When he got near Himeragi, he kneeled to get into her sights.
"Your Highness..."
"... Don't call me that, human." Himeragi replied with a down expression. "I am not a princess of the fairies. Anything is just a lie." She said while feeling hurt about that fact.
"... I see..." Kiritsuba said in understanding. "Still, you are a princess for me." He said with a wry smile on her way. "A gloomy look doesn't suit you at all. Why don't you try smiling?" He said to her.
"Are you mocking me." Himeragi said with some irritation in her tone. "I don't need your advice human!" She said with a snort as she turned her face away from him.
The both of them became silent for awhile. After some moments, Kiritsuba speaks once again.
"This might be our last time seeing each other. So, this is a farewell then." He said with some reluctance in his tone.
"... Why should I care? Just leave or whatever..." Himeragi replied as she turned her back at him.
Kiritsuba just nodded at it before he stood up. Then he looks goes to Nishida's side.
When he got near him, Nishida speaks at him.
"It was really a surprise to learn that she was your daughter. I didn't thought a fairy can turn a human into their kin. It's like those Youkai turning a human into demons like them." Nishida said with some surprise in his tone. "I feel betrayed learning about all of this. I mean, I wanted to punch you for lying to us this whole time but..." Nishida took a sigh before continuing. "I am also a father. I don't know how it feels losing your daughter but I don't want to think about it. Just the thought of it gives me dread." Nishida finished.
"... You don't need to say anything more Nishida." Kiritsuba said. "I know what I did is something out of desperation. I wanted to see her again at that time. I was grasping at anything I can just to do that." He said that while thinking about that time. "... It was my fault that I got beguiled by that glib tongue fairy." He said to him with an apologetic look.
Nishida stares at him for awhile before looking at him seriously.
"You know that you won't see her anymore."
"... It's for the best. I am the worse father that she can have. I don't deserve her."
"... I see."
After their talk, Nishida gestured for his men to take Kiritsuba out of this place. He was going to be escorted back to Tokyo where his punishment is awaiting.
Himeragi was absently staring on his way. She doesn't know why but she felt somewhat painful in her chest when she heard that she won't see him again.
She can't understand why it is.
"Why are you crying?"
She was startled when she heard Ayumi besides her.
"W-w-what are you implying!?" She asks with a stutter.
"Your tears are flowing." Ayumi said while looking at her in worry.
"I am... crying?"
She touched her cheeks and felt something wet in her fingers. Feeling the blurring of her vision due to her tears, she finally realized that she was indeed crying.
"... I wonder why..." She asks while feeling mysteriously hurt while looking at Kiritsuba's receding back.
Ayumi also look at the guy and tries to recall how he talks to Himeragi.
'His stare felt like something I always see in my past life...' Ayumi thought before she finally recalled. 'Ah right... just like how my dad looks at me whenever I feel down.' She thought as she recalls her family in her past life. 'Don't tell me... no, it's impossible. The two of them looks totally different. There are no defining traits on the both of them other than their name being both in Japanese. And also their eye color are the same.' Ayumi thought to herself in dismissal.
Ayumi thinks about it more for awhile before she decided.
'But if he really was her father... then maybe this girl is a former human. My Prediction says there is a high possibility that she is a former human. She might have turned into a fairy due to some sort of ritual that I am unaware of.' Ayumi concluded in her mind. 'If so, then it would be very regrettable for that guy to never see this girl. Those two leader of fairies seems to be preparing themselves to go back to wherever their domain is, and I predict that it wasn't existing on this world.' Ayumi thought to herself as she analyze the events here.
As she was thinking that, she saw Titania getting near at Himeragi and was going to speak to her.
"Wait..."
But Ayumi stops the Fairy Queen with that word.
"What is it?"
"... Is this girl a former human?" She asks that while feeling nervous at asking that.
"Yes. I can see that through her soul." Titania said as she glances at Himeragi.
"I see..." Ayumi said to herself before continuing. "Then, can I take custody of her." She said to the Fairy Queen.
Ayumi's decision was simple. She will adopt Himeragi to her house.
"Oh my, you will take care of her?" Titania said with a surprise gasp. "I was just planning to ask someone to do that. I am grateful that you are volunteering yourself for it." She said in relief.
"... You are grateful?"
"Yes, I can't take care of that person. Even if she is now a fairy, it would still be hard for her to live in Alfheim. Her spiritual form is still not enough to handle the nature of Alfheim." She explained simply to the confuse Ayumi.
Once again, fairies are semi-corporeal beings. They are half spirits.
And their environment makes it essential for them to have at least be able to resist spiritual hazards. They are a being of nature so they should also be attuned to their environment.
Himeragi was just an artificial fairy. Her soul is still that of a human. So even if she have the characteristics of a fairy, she is not that strong than a normal one. She is not attuned to any aspect of nature due to not being a natural fairy. Because of that, it would be harder for her to resurrect herself if someone manage to kill her physical body. She will need an enormous amount of Mana, which is something her soul can't handle due to being incapable to supernatural.
She have some supernatural powers thanks to Doris, but Doris didn't manage to fully edit her soul because it is very risky to do so. She might become a completely different person if she goes beyond what she did to her.
Alfheim was brimming with Mana which fairies lives off. It will just destroy Himeragi if she tries living in that environment.
"I see..." Ayumi muttered to herself.
"You seem to be trustworthy. So I will leave her wellbeing to you." Titania said to her before she turned her back and goes back to her spouse.
Ayumi can only look at her before she turned to Himeragi.
'She was a former human. I don't know how she turned into a fairy. It might be the same as how I resurrected Fubuki.' Ayumi tries guessing it in her mind.
Doris looks at Himeragi. She see that she was looking at the fading figure of her father. She doesn't even look at her way.
"... She really hates me huh..." Doris muttered to herself in dejection. "Maybe it is really alright to just go back to Alfheim. Everything that I have built up was already gone. The board that I painstakingly took the time to complete was completely shattered because of them..." Doris said to herself in depression. "But... I made her hate me. It was very painful..." She muttered to herself in sadness.
Oberon and Titania was chanting something. It seems like they are going to use some sort of spell so they can go back to Alfheim.
"Good thing that we have a lot of Magic Batteries here. We have enough Mana to create a pathway to Alfheim." Titania said while glaring at Doris. "Be very grateful that we are a forgiving ruler. You have cause a lot of chaos on our lands due to your crazy antics." Titania said that with some anger in her tone.
The other fairies are scared, though some other fairies are just dejected as they glance at Himeragi.
"It seems like this is a goodbye... farewell, my true friend..." Doris muttered that on Himeragi as she stares at the girl.
Then a large circle appeared below them before they were swallowed by it. After that, they are gone.
Ayumi was also planning to go back to Nakatane along with Himeragi when Shion got besides her.
"Hey."
"?"
"You won't meet with that fox girl first?" Shion asks in confusion.
"Well... I still have something to do on Nakatane. After that, I will go back here and meet up with her." Ayumi replied to Shion's question.
"Is that so."
Shion can't think of anything to say anymore. She wanted to ask how she got the godly artifacts that Fubuki seems to be holding. But she didn't want to pry a lot anymore.
She thinks Ayumi is mysterious. But she also thinks of her as an acquaintance. She only got to know her in a single night but she can see that the girl is pretty decent. She doesn't even make fun of Aqua, so it's already a positive for Shion.
That's why, she will just ask once she felt that she was much closer to the girl, if the time ever comes.
"Well then, see you later." Ayumi said to her before she opened a portal to go back to her rented room. " Oh right." She stops as she recalled something. "Is Fubuki okay?" She asks with some worry on her tone.
"Hm? Well she is fine." Shion answered simply.
But that simple answer gave Ayumi a relief.
While Fubuki herself told her that she was okay, Ayumi want to hear more from those who witnessed it. She can't help but feel really worried about her.
"Thank you for taking care of her." Ayumi said in gratitude with a bow on her way before she moves to the portal.
Of course, she urges Himeragi to get in there first before she followed.
The portal vanishes after the both of them passes through it.
It was past the afternoon when Ayumi heard someone knocking on her door.
Opening it, she saw Matsuri on the other side of it.
"Hello! Matsuri is here to cheer your day!" She said that in an energetic tone.
"... Okay..." Ayumi can simply answer like that.
Ayumi gave her a way to enter inside the room, which she eagerly did so.
Matsuri took a sit on the bed while Ayumi get a chair and sits on it while facing Matsuri's way.
"Sooooo... how are you?"
"... I am fine." Ayumi simply answered.
"Aw... your replies are still too minimal. Let's have some fun conversation!" Matsuri said with some teasing.
"... But this is how I talk." Ayumi explained while feeling embarrassed about it.
She doesn't have a lot of experience socializing in person. It was much more different than just talking behind her avatar after all.
And even if she can talk to Fubuki on a daily basis, she was also like this with Fubuki.
Ayumi, being a shut-in and a loner, doesn't have much in the way of interpersonal skills. Her replies always comes off as straight to the point or simple. She doesn't put any extras in it other than the words that she thinks is appropriate at that time.
"So Ayumi-chan, I was curious about something." Matsuri said and seeing Ayumi's attention is at her, she continued. "When we get to that plaza and that cute girl started spouting something I can't understand, what are you doing at that time?" Matsuri asks with a strangely serious tone.
"... I was just staring on the space at that time..." Ayumi tried to lie like that.
"But every person on that plaza yesterday stares at me. Everyone except you." Matsuri said, clearly recalling what happened on that time.
'So she have a recollection of it!?' Ayumi thought with a startled look.
"Also, when those people suddenly snapped out of their weird state, those girls along with you suddenly vanished." Matsuri said in suspicion. "Where did you go at that time?" Matsuri asks while narrowing her gaze at Ayumi.
Ayumi was easily flustered by this. She was just being look in suspicion by someone she sees as an amazing person. This is the same person that became popular in her past life.
And being an introvert, she was quickly bending over to answer her honestly.
But before she could even answer her, Matsuri quickly speaks in her stead.
"Are you a magical girl!"
"Yes!?... I mean n-"
"I knew it!"
With that slip of a tongue, Matsuri was convinced about her own theory.
She thought it through and through yesterday. Trying to make sense of whatever happened at that time.
She was sure that she wasn't hallucinating whatever happened on that time. She can clearly recall what she and Ayumi did before they got to the plaza. So the event on that plaza should have also happened because Ayumi just suddenly vanishing besides her is just too incomprehensible without any explanation to it. She can't just think that everything they did is just something she imagined too.
Her theory was further strengthened by the fact that her classmates and even her teachers doesn't remember a single thing about what happened on that time, nor when they got to that plaza in the first place. It reeks of something magical in her perspective.
So she took the only reference that she can make sense of that she knows in her life. That is the magical girl shows that she grows up on watching.
A girl that spouts some weird lines was saying whatever on Ayumi's way. Ayumi also replied to her and tries to do things diplomatically.
It was like a face-off between two magical girls in her perspective.
Now that she have a vocal confirmation by the person herself, her belief was finally set.
"So my neighbor is actually a magical girl!" Matsuri exclaimed in excitement. "This is amazing!" She said in happiness.
"... Yes..." Ayumi can only leave it to that.
"Show me..."
"... What?"
"Show me your transformation sequence!"
"No!"
And she quickly refused whatever is she requesting. She can see Matsuri's eyes glinting maliciously, which honestly makes Ayumi scared of herself.
She doesn't have any of those transformation sequences, but even if she have, she won't do that because she knew Matsuri will enjoy it (in an uncomfortable way).
'She really is honest to her desires huh...' Ayumi thought with a sigh.
After telling Matsuri that she will be leaving today, it seems like Matsuri will also be leaving tomorrow.
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me!" Matsuri said to herself while doing a 'Be Silent' pose with her finger.
"Yes, thank you for your consideration." Ayumi said with a bow before getting into the bus.
Along with her is Himeragi who was still a bit out of it.
Matsuri didn't think much about it after seeing Himeragi because she thinks it was common for magical girl plots for enemies to become friends later on.
'And I will have a chance to learn more about her when I get back home!' That was also what is Matsuri is thinking while she glances at Himeragi.
Even Himeragi who was in her down state felt a chill down her spine that she was forced to look around to see if there is any threat in the vicinity.
"Just ignore it." And Ayumi knew what she is feeling so she just urges her to get inside the bus.
With that, they finally got out of Nakatane. Ayumi didn't forget to wave her hand at Matsuri as the bus slowly goes farther on the city.
'... This has been a very long day. I wonder how is Fubuki.' Ayumi thought to herself after they got far enough on the city. 'Well, I'll see her later anyway. For now I need to think what I should do with Himeragi-san.' She thought while looking at the girl who was sitting besides her.
She was listlessly looking on the air, staring at nothing while she was deep in thought.
Ayumi can only look at that Himeragi with some pity in her tone.
'I just want to adopt her because I felt pity that she would be forever separated by her family. She wasn't even one of the Hololive members, just a random fairy that I encountered here.' Ayumi thought to herself. 'But... she is too pitiful being left alone like that. Her whole life has been lie to her. She must have been terribly confused at whatever is happening.' Ayumi thought to herself. 'If by chance she remembered about her past life, she will still have a chance to meet her father, wherever he was being taken by the government.' Ayumi thought like that while feeling somewhat satisfied with it.
She also did it because she wanted Fubuki to finally have someone to talk to. Though it's not one of the girls that she was trying to recruit, it is still someone from the supernatural side.
'I hope they become good friends.' Ayumi hoped like that.

Finally, I managed to finish this very long chapter.
I know that ending is lackluster but I am very tired of writing this chapter.
I have been writing this one for several days. Like, this is just too long!
As to why this got long, this is because I wanted to finish this arc on this chapter. That's why I put every scene I wanted to write in this single chapter.
My birthday and some occasions like the Valentine's Day got passed due to how long this chapter got. I even felt like giving this up.
Right... I'll make shorter chapters... maybe...
This author's note has gone too long... it's time to wrap this up.
This marks the end of the Fifth Arc : Little War
The story about the two fairies that was vying for domination on the land of Tanegashima. Or it should be if not for the fact that one of them just designed this game as a playground for them.
There are many things I have planned on this arc that wasn't written at all because the flow of the story derailed a lot of times.
There should be a part where Aqua was so fooled by Doris that she will participate in the Little War and beat up all of Himeragi's champions. There is also the part that Matsuri and her classmates will be a participant in this Little War and they will fight Doris' champion (plus Aqua). Then Ayumi will swoop in and save the day. There is also the part where Fubuki will be attacked by Kiritsuba's men in her room, with Towa besides her. After Towa got hurt, Fubuki will show her evil side and curbstomp all of those people with Ayumi's enchanted items and artifacts.
But things changes and this arc is the byproduct of that. It was very confusing and headache inducing. I hope you understand what is happening here. I felt like I forced a lot of things in this arc.
Anyway, that's all... this really has gone lone enough...
