I DO NOT OWN THE SELECTION SERIES. SHOUT OUT TO NIKT WANZY FOR CREATING THIS CHARACTER.

Schreave Palace. Province of Angeles. Later that night.

Once Melody and Noah had made the decision to leave together, they both packed their bags and prepared to use one of the royal family's private jets to go to Midston. The escape could not have been done without Nanny Alma. She arranged for a friend of hers who had a pilot's license to fly them out of the capital and was an endless stream of moral support.

"Do you have everything you need, my love?" She asked as Melody finished packing.

"I have one more thing." Melody stated as she handed her soon to be former nanny a piece of royal parchment. Written on it was the following:

I, Melody Jessamine Schreave, crown Princess of the Kingdom of Illèa and all territories under Illèan jurisdiction, declare my irrevocable determination to renounce the Throne, for myself and for my descendants, and my desire that effect should be given to this instrument of Abdication immediately. In token whereof I have here unto set my hand this second day of April 2121, in the presence of the witnesses whose signatures are subscribed. Signed, Melody.

"It's good." Nanny Alma said as she and Noah both signed it while she held onto the notice.

"I need you make copies and send it to all the newspapers and news stations in Angeles." Melody insisted. "We have to make sure that my parents can't cover this up."

"I will." Alma swore as Melody gave her a DVD.

"What is this?" The nanny inquired.

"I made a tape where I talk about how the selection was rigged and...how my parents abused me." The former princess answered as Alma looked stunned.

"Are you sure you want the people to know?" She asked.

"I hate the idea of people knowing what they did to me, but if I don't do this, they will never be held accountable and I hate that idea even more." Melody admitted. She gave her nanny one last hug before she and Noah made their way out to the courtyard where the plane was taxing. The couple got on and a few minutes later, it took off into the night, carrying the lovers to a new life.

The next morning

Things were not so hopeful for the royal family. When King Maxon II and his wife: Queen Jessamine woke up, got dressed, and prepared for their daily duties, they found the King's personal servant: Benvolio Jackson in a state of dishevelment and fear.

"Your majesties, we are so far up shits creek it's not funny!" He exclaimed as he caught his breath.

"What happened?" Maxon asked impatiently.

"The princess has abdicated." Benvolio replied as Maxon and Jessamine went white as ghosts.

"That bitch, where is she!" Jessa shrieked.

"She has fled the palace with Noah Addington." Benvolio reported. "In addition, she sent copies of her abdication notice to all the newspapers and TV stations in the province and it has spread nationwide and as if that was not enough, Romeo Monroe and Lucrezia Bellincioni have both fled the palace and denounced you both to the press."

"God damn them all!" the King yelled as he knocked over a vase.

"The worst part was that in addition to the abdication notice, Melody also submitted a recording of herself where she made allegations against you regarding rigging the selection and abuse." Benvolio added as the king and queen froze dead in their tracks.

"You can't be serious..." Maxon said with a quiet anger as Benvolio looked down at his shoes.

"Ever since it was broadcast...the country has started to tear itself apart." he reported. "All thirty five provinces have reported civil unrest. Riots are breaking out and government officials that have publicly expressed loyalty to you have been attacked and lynched by angry mobs. Several provincial governors have called the palace asking for instructions."

"Tell them that any commoners found rioting are traitors and are sentenced to death, deploy the national guard!" King Maxon declared.

"They have...the Illèan provincial militias refuse to fire on them and some units are even mutinying against superior officers." Benvolio explained as Maxon turned as red as a tomato.

"DAMN THEM ALL!" he screamed as he stormed off to his office while Queen Jessamine knew that the game was up.

A Few Days Later.

Over the next few days, the situation in Illèa only got worse. The King's Congress and even Prime minister Tybalt Tyler was calling on Maxon II to follow his daughter's example and abdicate. The King refused and as a result, the riots got worse. Eventually, by the time that the palace was surrounded by angry peasants, calling for Maxon's head on a spike, Queen Jessamine had taken a few million dollars out of the royal coffers and fled the country. Finally, it all came to a head. Late at night, the mob finally broke through the gates and stormed into the palace. The royal guards fought back but were soon overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. Maxon II was having a cigar in his office when he heard the ruckus. He reached into his desk and pulled out a golden pistol. When the rioters eventually broke in, the King fired a few shots into them, but he was eventually taken. The commoners hurled spit and abuse at the King of Illèa as they dragged him down to the foyer where he saw that Benvolio Jackson and Escalus Harding had already been tied up.

"Maxon Schreave, for crimes against the people of Illèa, we sentence you and your dogs to death!" one commoner declared as three nooses were hung and the three men were put up on chairs.

"I didn't want to torture anyone...Maxon made me!" Escalus cried out as his chair was kicked out and he was hanged.

"I don't want to die...please...I don't want to die!" Benvolio cried out with tears in his eyes as his chair too was kicked and his life ended. Finally, the mob turned to the disgraced king.

"You can kill me, but that won't change anything. You are peasants and you are all beneath me!" Maxon shouted as the chair was kicked and he struggled for a few moments before he went lifeless and the three bodies hung silently in the foyer surrounded by the commoners who had taken justice into their own hands.
