Arc League Championship — Chapter 47: Twin Lunalight Moons; Yasuko Yukihana vs. Serena

The sun was almost setting under the 24-hour Battle Royal. Yasuko continues to journey through the iceberg region.

She was staring at the one item she brought with her throughout her journey since the beginning of the tournament—the crystal pendant keychain. Yasuko never leaves her keychain behind under any circumstances. It meant something to her like it has been with her all her life. It was a very bizarre day that she is having. She remembers how the keychain was glowing with so much luminescence that she is sure day was coming back. It was shining about three hours after she left Yugo. It was so weird. She wonders what is up.

Yasuko can feel her stomach giving a small growl in hunger. She hasn't eaten anything since noon. It was a drag for her. Yasuko is never going to be in another duel tournament after the Arc League Championship. To think that she would be dueling for 24 hours isn't good enough. She hates it. Being outside of the city where she has nothing to eat and a bed to sleep in the next day is a problem. The cold weather from the ARC system is just as cold as the real snow. She definitely hates it. She is practically cursing the person who planned to make the third round a Battle Royal for a day.

Yasuko holds to herself to keep warm under the growing night sky. She is going to be in for a very night. Especially if the other people are hunting for Pendulum cards. She can give a damn about the tournament. All she could ever think of is getting herself a place to rest and sleep through the hellish night.

Yasuko continues to search for a cave in the iceberg region that can make her comfortable to sleep in. Her boots crunch the snow underneath her feet. Even with the long sleeves of her black and white striped shirt, she is still feeling cold.

"Damn," Yasuko complained. "Every minute I stay how here, I am freezing my ass off." She was muttering of the insanity of the representatives who made the Battle Royal.

As she walks under the dead of the night, Yasuko hears shouting from the other side of the field. Her head snaps up, facing the direction that was the lava sector in the back. It was coming from the path that she went to. She clips her keychain back to her jean belt loop and drags herself out of the ice cave to take a closer look. The snow fog was messing her sight, but the vision became clear to her as they walked in her direction.

Up head are not three, but four figures walking in her direction. She can only hear the protest of a female person. Clearly, the female is angry.

"Let me go, masked ninja!" The female growled. "You can't treat me like a sack of potatoes! How dare you interfere with my battle! Now put me down!"

Yasuko walks on closer to take a better look. It was the ninja brothers, Sun Shadow and Moon Shadow, and to her surprise. She spots Zuzu Hiiragi with them and someone else, possibly the female, based on the shouting. She stops from behind to see how the female protester is arguing with Sun Shadow.

"Why'd you butt into my business! I don't even know who you are!" The female appears to be wearing some kind of red jacket. "You better give me some answers or else!" The female protested sounds feisty in Yasuko's perspective. She keeps to her distance to not let them know that she saw them.

Sun Shadow turns to his brother. "Moon Shadow, take care of them," he commanded. "I will take a look around. The enemy may still be nearby."

"Understood, brother," said Moon Shadow. Like a ninja, the red one disappears in the blink of an eye.

Once Sun Shadow disappears, Zuzu turns over to Moon Shadow. "So, who were those guys?" Zuzu's questions are peeking Yasuko's attention. She starts walking toward the three people.

Yasuko can hear the answer from Moon Shadow. "From what I hear, they are Duel Warriors from the Fusion Dimension send by Academia."

Yasuko's eyes felt they are widened. She heard it right. Moon Shadow said that there are Fusion Duel Warriors from the Fusion Dimension. The very same people who invaded the Xyz Dimension. "Wait, Fusion Dimension?" Yasuko called.

Zuzu, Moon Shadow, and the second girl turn around. To Zuzu's surprise, Yasuko appears before the three and said, "Yasuko!" Zuzu runs on over to hug Yasuko. "Hey, how are you?"

Yasuko pats Zuzu in the back and breaks away as she replied, "Like I'm going to be starving until tomorrow morning." She turns to Moon Shadow. The second time she saw Moon Shadow, the ninja she first met, was at the Fūma Clan Duel School of Ninja. "Moon Shadow, what do you mean? Fusion Duel Warriors? Are they here?"

Even under his blue mask, the boy nodded to confirm her suspicion. "Yes," Moon Shadow confirmed. "The duelists we've encountered are from the Fusion Dimension."

There was no mistaking it. The invasion for the Standard Dimension has begun. Yasuko can't be sure of what is going on right now. "You mean they're here?" she questioned. "But why?"

"Because they came for me."

Yasuko faces the girl that is with them. From the moment Yasuko saw the girl, she can swear that she may be hallucinating because of the growing belly in her stomach. She cannot tell who she is supposed to be looking at. All she knows is that the girl is a lot different but similar to Zuzu.

Standing before her is a different type of Zuzu who has taken a new look. She should probably be at her age with indigo hair tied into a ponytail held by a large yellow ribbon and mint green eyes. It may be harder to tell the girl and Zuzu Hiiragi apart because her face is the same as Zuzu. Yasuko happens to notice how her hair has two light blue bangs like Zuzu's pink bangs. She seems to be wearing a red jacket with a yellow stripe and a green-and-yellow star emblem on each sleeve over her black shirt. She also wears a red skirt held up by a brown belt with a silver buckle and ring connecting to two straps going over her torso while her thighs are covered by biker shorts and brown boots. What is noticeable is that the girl has a bracelet like Zuzu's.

Yasuko is having questions popping back in her brain, overflowing with an endless barrage of inquiries. "Uh…who the hell are you?" Yasuko asked the girl in front of her.

"Who the hell am I?" the girl inquired.

Zuzu steps in to stand beside Yasuko. "Yasuko, this must be Ruri," she claimed.

Yasuko blinks once. "Ruri? Shun's little sister?"

Zuzu nodded. She turns to the girl. "Did you escape from the Fusion Dimension? And Academia is chasing—"

"My name is Serena!" Serena introduced. "I am not Ruri!" Serena speaks in a very stoic manner, clearly showing how irritated she must be.

Yasuko raises an eyebrow. Her blue eyes are now puzzling who she is seeing. "Serena?" she repeated. Yasuko is currently having a major identity crisis. She first saw Zuzu about a few hours ago since the beginning of the Battle Royal round, and now she is back only to bring with her a doppelgänger.

Yasuko faces Zuzu and makes an assumption of who the girl might be. "Zuzu, you never told me that you had a fraternity sister," she assumed.

Zuzu is annoyed and makes a pouty face. "Why do you assume that?! I told you don't have a sister; I'm an only child!" she proclaimed.

"So, she is your clone, then?" Yasuko assumed.

Again, Zuzu is annoyed but angry at the same time. "No! She is not a clone!" she exclaimed.

Serena can see how inconclusive that Yasuko is telling her counterpart. "Who the hell are you calling me a clone?" she accused. "I am right here."

Yasuko turns to Serena. "So, you are Zuzu from an alternate universe." Again, she makes a different assumption of the doppelgänger.

"Where in the hell do you come up with this stuff?" Serena is getting more aggravated with Yasuko. "Look, I don't know who you are, but don't get in my way."

Yasuko's eyes narrowed at Serena. She is starting to dislike the girl already because her attitude is like hers, only she is taking things seriously. "Then who are you, Serena?" she asked, giving a short threat in her end.

Serena can see the look that Yasuko's eyes are giving to her. "I am a Fusion Summoner from the Fusion Dimension," she revealed. "And the duelists who came to this world are coming to capture me, but I won't get caught." Serena points at Moon Shadow from behind the girls. "If Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber here hadn't interfered, I would've driven them all away."

"Oh really?" Yasuko questioned. "And why would some duelists be coming to capture you?"

"The Professor send them after I refuse to obey his orders," said Serena.

"Professor?" Zuzu inquired.

"At Academia, the Professor's orders are the supreme law," Serena explained. "Disobedience is never tolerated, but I listen to me. So, when he said I have to stay put, I have made other plans. If I can defeat the Xyz fugitives that are in the Standard Dimension, then I am determined to find and crush them."

Yasuko is sure that Serena is talking about Academia. She has heard of the atrocities that Academia or people from the Fusion Dimension have committed to the Xyz Dimension people. Her blood is rushing all over her body. Her teeth and jaws tighten together. Beating someone from a Fusion Dimension coming here to the city is the best way to give her anger out for all the things they have done.

"The Professor will repent badly for not sending me to the front lines with the others," Serena growled. "I swear!"

"You bitch!" Yasuko suddenly bellowed. Everyone turns to Yasuko. Zuzu can see how Yasuko's shoulders are trembling in a fury. Yasuko cannot hold any fire that is burning inside of her body. "You think that is alright? Hunting those people from Heartland City who were living on with their lives when you people took it all away?"

Yasuko's eyes are now showing how sharp the daggers are, glaring at Serena with the hate that Shun must be holding. "Do you have any idea what you've done?!" she questioned, which cause Serena to flinch back in shock. "You people took their lives, and you think that is justifiable?"

Yasuko wastes no time to take out her forest green duel disk from her holster and throws it up in the air. She lets her left wrist attach it to her duel disk as her blue blade emits from the device. "I'm going to make you pay for what you did to those people at Heartland City!" she yelled.

Zuzu can see how the tensions rose so quickly after Yasuko met Serena. "Wait, Yasuko!" she called. "What are you doing! This is not going to help!"

Yasuko raises a hand over to keep Zuzu back from Serena. "Stay back, Zuzu," she ordered. "She's one of the people from Academia! They are monsters! They are not doing anything good!" She gets in a position ready to attack the girl. "I'll take this one on!"

"Monsters? Who are you calling us monsters?" Serena accused, offended by Yasuko's insult. "This is for the sake of a better place in the universe."

"At what cost?! Billions of lives lost to your so-called utopia is nothing more than just fanfiction!" Yasuko yelled, venting all her anger at Serena. "You, the Professor, and your people are nothing but psychopathic assholes who takes pleasure in hurting others!"

Serena is ticked of Yasuko being aggressive at her for being in Academia. She insulted everything that she stands for. She is provoked in listening to Yasuko's offense. "How dare you!" she growled. "How dare you call us psychopaths!?"

"How dare me—no—how dare you?!" Yasuko argued, pointing at Serena. "How dare you invade Heartland City where those people are living peacefully while you, assholes, came in and destroyed it all?" Her scowl is going to be staying on her face for a while. "You turn innocent men, women, and children into cards! Into cards! I will never forgive you for that!" Her voice bawls out all the hate she feels when she heard of how Academia is turning people into cards from Yuto's story.

Serena is thinking of taking on Yasuko for insulting her people and for offending her professor. "You want a duel? Fine! You've got yourself one!" Serena then takes out her duel disk. It was an odd design for Yasuko because the duel disk is shaped like a shield with a giant orb touch screen on it. Her colors are maroon that has pink trimmed outlines. As the blue blade emerges from the duel disk, the blade is shaped like a sword.

Yasuko needs to be on her best and heavily guarded of her weak points. "If Serena is from Academia, then I would have to crush her before she can even get in to finish me off," she thought. "Here I go!"

Yasuko and Serena are ready, with each of them having their duel disks ready and their blue blades glowing brightly from the device.

"DUEL!" They shouted.

DUEL:

Yasuko Yukihana (LP 4000)

VS

Serena (LP 4000)

They each have five cards in their hand charge directly at each other. With one clash of two blades from their duel disks, they jump back and in the opposite direction of where Zuzu and Moon Shadow face.

"Yasuko! Serena! Stop!" Zuzu pleaded with both girls to stop, but they are coming at full force. There was nothing more than Zuzu can do other than stand back and watch them. Moon Shadow will be keeping a closer eye on the duel to make sure that Serena does not get hurt or even caught by the forces that have arrived from the Fusion Dimension.

Turn 1: Serena (5x cards)

"I'll go first!" Serena declared. She takes out a card and activates the Allure of Darkness Spell Card.

"I activate the Spell, Allure of Darkness! This card lets me draw two cards from my deck, and I have to banish one DARK monster from my hand!" Serena draws two cards from her deck and banishes Lunalight Purple Butterfly. "Next, I activate Polymerization!" Serena activates the Polymerization Spell Card. "This card lets me use Fusion Materials from my hand or field to Fusion Summon a monster from my Extra Deck!" Serena takes out three monsters from her hand: Lunalight Blue Cat, Lunalight Crimson Fox, and Lunalight Yellow Marten. "I fuse Lunalight Blue Cat, Crimson Fox, and Yellow Marten!"

A blue cat lady with cat ears under her blue hair wearing a gymnastic suit over her blue skin with a golden lunar mask on the left side of her face, a crimson fox woman wearing a gold lunar mask on the right side of her face in an acrobatic dance suit, and a golden yellow marten girl with an optical mask on the left side of her face in a ballerina dress, emerges from thin air. They are consumed by the swirling vortex of red and blue.

"Blue cat that prowls in the night. Crimson fox who hunts like a predator! Yellow marten that shines like gold! Together shall become the apex dancer of the night! I Fusion Summon! Come to me! Lunalight Sabre Dancer!"Serena Fusion Summons Lunalight Sabre Dancer (ATK 3000/DEF 2600) in Attack Position.

The first Fusion monster that Yasuko sees from Zuzu's alternative universe counterpart is a sabertooth female dancer with purple skin and panther feet spewing sharp black claws wearing a long pink bomba dress and a black bra as her golden long braid sway with her twin sabers in her paws

At once, both Zuzu and Serena's bracelets were giving off resonating blinks. It was not bright enough to catch their attention, but it was starting to occur once Serena is facing Yasuko. In response, the crystal pendant on the keychain makes a sort of a flickering glow.

Yasuko is carefully observing her opponent. She saw how Serena makes her Fusion Summon, which was clear that the girl specializes in Fusion Summon. "Her deck is heavily based on using Fusion Summon," she thought. "After all, she is from the Fusion Dimension and from Academia. The best thing I need is to counter against the cards that may be necessary for her to use."

"Sabre Dancer's special effect gains 200 ATK points for every Beast-Warrior monsters that are banished or in my graveyard, and it cannot be targeted by card effects." The sabre dancer glows in bright gold to gain some power boost.

(Lunalight Sabre Dancer: ATK 3000 3800)

"Now, I activate Yellow Marten's special effect," said Serena. "When Yellow Marten was sent to the graveyard by a card effect, I can add one Lunalight Spell or Trap from my deck to my hand." Serena chooses to pick one card from her deck and adds Luna Light Perfume. "I add Luna Light Perfume to my hand!"

Serena takes out two cards from her hand and Sets them. "I set two cards face-down and end my turn." She points at Yasuko. "Your move, girl. I hope you prove yourself to be a better opponent than the other guy."

Turn 2: Yasuko (5x cards)

Yasuko narrows her eyes at Serena. "I'm more than what you see, princess," she said. Placing a finger on top of her deck, she makes her move. "My turn!" She draws a card from her deck. Since Serena is from Academia, the best approach would be aggressive tactics to seal off anything that can make Serena use Fusion monsters.

Yasuko takes out two cards from her hand. "I set the Pendulum Scale with my Scale 3 Magical Abductor!" She sets her Magical Abductor (Scale 3) at the right side of the Pendulum Scale. The obsidian abductor with a long black dress coded in light green painting while holding a scepter staff with a spell counter in the red orb appears on the field and floats up with her Pendulum Scale number appearing below her.

Serena is surprised at how a girl like Yasuko has Pendulum cards. She never saw anyone else have pendulum cards of their own. "Pendulum? Does this mean she can Pendulum Summon too?" she inquired.

"I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Mythical Bestiary!" Yasuko activates the Quick-Play Spell Card: Mythical Bestiary. "This card lets me send up to two cards from the top of my deck to the graveyard and then target one card that I control to place spell counters equal to the number of cards that I send." Yasuko takes two cards from the top of her deck: the Pendulum monster, Mythical Beast Jackal King, and the Spell Card, Sacred Swords of Seven Stars, and sends them to the graveyard. "I target Magical Abductor, which activates her Pendulum effect and gains a spell counter each time we activate and resolve a spell card." The abductor mage glows her scepter to gain some spell counters.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 0 3)

"Now, I activate the Pendulum effect of Magical Abductor to remove three spell counters from this card to add one Pendulum monster from my deck to my hand!" Yasuko declared. The abductor mage glows the spell counter at the red jewel to pay for her special ability.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 3 0)

Yasuko takes one card to add Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon. "I add Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon to my hand and complete the Pendulum Scale with my Scale 8 Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon!" she announced. "I'm gonna show you how I control the duel right now!" Yasuko achieves the complete Pendulum Scale with Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon (Scale 8), forming the rainbow "Pendulum" word on her glowing blue blade. The second monster that appears beside the abductor mage is the green dragon with bone armor on the chest to the tail with red and green eyes.

"And because Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon was activated as a spell, Magical Abductor gains a spell counter."

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 0 1)

"With these two monsters, I can summon multiple monsters between levels 4 and 7 simultaneously!" Yasuko stated. "Here my soul roaring upon thy! I call forth the energy of my heart to unleash the flames of solemnity from within! I Pendulum Summon!Bring me forth, my monsters!" Yasuko Pendulum Summons Reflection of Endymion (ATK 1850/DEF 2700) and Dharma-Eye Magician (ATK 2000/DEF 2500) in Attack Position. "I summon Reflection of Endymion and Dharma-Eye Magician!" Yasuko has two monsters out on the field. One of them was a beautiful blonde woman wearing a spell counter mask in a white gown with gold outlines. The second is a dharma magician with a long turquoise cape behind his back with gold and white pants and black shirt while holding a device like a hammer. Still, it has four jewels, two red and two blue, on the bigger end of the wheel.

Serena has seen Pendulum Summon before. It was a revelation that someone else has their own Pendulum cards that are not from the Leo Corporation. "So, she can do a Pendulum Summon," she said.

Yasuko continues to make her move. "I take my level 7 Reflection and Dharma-Eye Magician to build the Overlay Network." The reflection and the dharma magician turn into two gold lights before shooting themselves up in the air and descends into the galaxy portal below Yasuko's feet. Once the galaxy has consumed the two lights, it shoots up a more giant light.

"From the pall of black and darkness, the fangs of halo will rise up to stand and fight all those who oppose its stupefied power! Ascend now! I Xyz Summon! Rise! Dark Anthelion Dragon!" Yasuko Xyz Summons Dark Anthelion Dragon (ATK 3000/DEF 2500) (OU: 2) in Attack Position.

Dark Anthelion rose from the galaxy portal with its shiny purple armor covering the black scales underneath its thick plating mixed in with the bone covered plates. It expands its four-panel wings glowing neon green lights from the lines as two purple Overlay Units rotate around the dragon. The roar of Dark Anthelion echoes across the frozen wasteland.

Moon Shadow folds his arms, examining the layout of the field. "Both duelists have brought out the strong monster," he said. "But will it be enough?"

Zuzu turns to Moon Shadow. "Are you saying that Yasuko doesn't stand a chance against someone like Serena?" she asked.

Moon Shadow lowers his eyes to glance over his shoulder at Zuzu. "That depends on Yasuko," he said. "She is a duelist who overpowers her opponents with strength and cunning strategies, but she appears to be buying herself some time to work on a counter-strategy." Turning back, Moon Shadow watches the duel unfold between Serena and Yasuko. "If she knows of Academia right about now, then she knows how she can counter them."

Both girls are getting ready for battle. Serena was eyeing Dark Anthelion with strong unfriendliness toward someone who uses Xyz. "An Xyz Summoner? This might be my perfect test," she said.

"Now, battle!" Yasuko declared. "Dark Anthelion Dragon attacks Lunalight Sabre Dancer!"

Dark Anthelion rose in the air before zooming through the snow with its chin bone ready to strike the sabre dancer. Serena isn't worried because she thinks that the girl is sending her strongest monster to its doom.

"Are you that stupid? Sabre Dancer has more ATK points than your dragon; they'll just destroy each other," Serena pointed out.

"Not for long," Yasuko argued. "I activate Dark Anthelion Dragon's special effect! By detaching one Overlay Unit, I can target your monster and reduce its ATK points in halve, and Dark Anthelion gains that amount until the end of the turn!" One of the purple Overlay Units around Dark Anthelion pops like a bubble to activate its effect.

(Dark Anthelion Dragon: OU 2 1)

"Sabre Dancer cannot be targeted by card effects, you idiot! Did you forget?" Serena reminded.

"Not if I have this card in my hand! The Quick-Play Spell, Forbidden Droplet!" Yasuko activates the Quick-Play Spell Card: Forbidden Droplet. "It allows me to send any cards from my field or hand to the graveyard and negate monsters that you control equal to the cards that I send and halve those monsters' ATK points!" Yasuko takes her last card from her hand and sends Nobledragon Magician to the graveyard to activate her spell card. "And because the card that I send was a monster, you cannot activate card effects in response to it." Yasuko sent the last card in her hand to the graveyard, and the spell card flips up and shot a bolt of lightning that zapped the sabre dancer, effectively shutting its abilities and cutting its ATK points in halve.

(Lunalight Sabre Dancer: ATK 3800 1500)

"What?!" Serena gasped.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 1 2)

"Now that your monster's effect is negated, Dark Anthelion's special effect continues!" Yasuko exclaimed. "Treacherous Discharge!" The four panels on Dark Anthelion's wings split up and shock the sabre dancer with a volley of purple static electricity, making her scream in agony.

(Lunalight Sabre Dancer: ATK 1500 750)

(Dark Anthelion Dragon: ATK 3000 3750)

"Attack Sabre Dancer! Parhelic Mutiny of Revolution!" Dark Anthelion swooped in like a hawk and pierced the sabre dancer at the chest with its bone chin, effectively destroying it with a big explosion. The shockwave was strong enough to send Serena flying back and sliding her body on the ground with major battle damage to her life points.

(Serena: LP 4000 1000)

Serena refuses to give up. She grunts to get herself to see Yasuko eye-to-eye and throws her hand. "I flip my trap! Lunalight Reincarnation Dance!" Serena activates the Trap Card: Lunalight Reincarnated Dance. "When a Lunalight monster is destroyed by battle or card effect, this card lets me add up to two Lunalight monsters from my deck to my hand!" She takes out two cards from her deck to add Lunalight Kaleido Chick and Lunalight Emerald Bird. "I'll add Lunalight Kaleido Chick and Emerald Bird," she said.

"I end my turn, and now Dark Anthelion's ATK points return to normal," Yasuko concluded. Dark Anthelion glows in bright yellow to lose its power boost.

(Dark Anthelion Dragon: ATK 3750 3000)

Turn 3: Serena (3x cards)

Zuzu is astonished at how Yasuko manages to take away two-thirds of Serena's life points. She was close to wiping out all of Serena's life points left on her next turn. "Wow, she was getting more antagonistic right there," said Zuzu. "Yasuko took out nearly all of Serena's life points." Her eyes rove to how angry Yasuko is looking since she is dueling against someone from Academia.

"Naturally, I think she was going to make a one-turn-kill in that move," Moon Shadow speculated. "If this match proves anything right now is that Yasuko has the advantage over Serena."

"But Serena is a different duelist," said Zuzu. "Is she that good like those guys we saw back there?"

"Who knows how good she is," Moon Shadow stated. "We'll just have to find out and see."

Serena gets back to stand up and frowns at Yasuko. "My turn!" She draws a card from her deck. "I draw!" She looks at the card before looking back up at Yasuko. "You wanna play rough?" she threatened. "I'll give you one!" She flips up her Continuous Trap Card: Lunalight Serenade Dance. "I activate Lunalight Serenade Dance!"

Taking out one card from her hand, Serena activates the Spell Card: Fusion Recovery. "I activate the Spell, Fusion Recovery!" she declared. "This card lets me add one Polymerization and one Fusion Material from my graveyard and add them to my hand." She adds back Polymerization and chooses one more card to take back from her graveyard: Lunalight Blue Cat. "I add Lunalight Blue Cat from my graveyard."

"And that's one spell counter for my Magical Abductor," said Yasuko. "Remember, each time we activate a spell card, Magical Abductor's pendulum effect activates, gaining one spell counter." The abductor mage illuminates in bright yellow to gain one counter due to Serena activating a spell.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 2 3)

"Even so, I can still fight back." Serena takes out her spell to activate it. "I activate Polymerization to fuse Lunalight Blue Cat and Emerald Bird from my hand!" She takes the two cards from her hand to begin another Fusion Summon. The blue feline female and the green bird lady with feather wing drapes wrapped from the wrists under her arms in a dance suit with a golden lunar mask hovered up. They was swallowed by the swirling vortex of red and blue.

"Blue Cat that prowls in the darkness! Emerald bird that soars in the night sky! Spiral into moon's gravity and become a new power! I Fusion Summon! Come to me! The beautiful beast that dances under the moonlight! Lunalight Cat Dancer!" Serena Fusion Summons Lunalight Cat Dancer (ATK 2400/DEF 2000) in Attack Position. Serena's new Fusion monster is a cat dancer with light purple skin who wears a violet dance dress over her leggings, a lunar mask on her face, and a purple-violet feather headdress on top of her long red hair as she dances with two knives in her hands. She makes a seductive "meow" at the end to signify her presence.

Coincidentally, Serena has also allowed the abductor to gain a spell counter.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 3 4)

"Now, Serenade Dance's effect can activate! When a Fusion Monster is special summoned, I can target that monster and apply these effects! I can Special Summon one Lunalight Token on your side of the field, and the targeted monster gains 500 ATK points for every monster that you control." She points at Yasuko with determination. "I'll show you how strong I am, slacker. I target my Cat Dancer, and Special Summon a Lunalight Token on your field."

The trap card glows bright enough to Special Summon a Lunalight Token (Beast/DARK/Level 4/ATK 2000/DEF 2000) in Attack Position. The token monster is a golden mask that the cat dancer was wearing, hovering next to Dark Anthelion. Yasuko can see that the token will be a problem for her.

"2000 ATK points? You're kidding me," Yasuko scoffed.

"Oh, it'll be your undoing," Serena countered. "Now, Cat Dancer gains 1000 ATK points." The cat dancer takes out her two knifes, ready to battle as she gains more attack power.

(Lunalight Cat Dancer: ATK 2400 3400)

"Emerald Bird's special effect activates! When the monster is sent to the graveyard by a card effect, I can target one "Lunalight" monster that is banished or in my graveyard and Special Summon it back to my field, but its effects are negated!" Serena takes the one card that was banished and Special Summons Lunalight Purple Butterfly (ATK 1000/DEF 1000) in Defense Position. The second lunar monster that Serena summoned is a butterfly woman with long purple hair wearing a gymnastic outfit for dancing with butterfly wings from her back.

Yasuko was not impressed. Despite being stronger than the token, it will not do anything much as long as Dark Anthelion has its remaining Overlay Unit. "That all you've got?" she challenged. "I was expecting more out of you."

"Oh, you'll find out more about me soon enough," Serena stated. "I activate Sabre Dancer's special effect from my graveyard! I can banish Sabre Dancer from my graveyard to target one Fusion monster that I control, and it gains 3000 ATK points until the end of the turn!" She gestures to the cat dancer. "And I banish Sabre Dancer to make Cat Dancer gain 3000 ATK points!" Once the sabre dancer's special ability comes to life, Serena removes it to power up the cat dancer even further, stronger than even Dark Anthelion Dragon.

(Lunalight Cat Dancer: ATK 3400 6400)

Yasuko's eyes are slightly widened because of how overpowered Serena's monster is. "You've got to be kidding me," she said.

"No, I am not kidding you," Serena responded. "But I'm not done yet." She raises her hand to the monster. "I activate Cat Dancer's special effect!" she stated loudly. "Once per turn, I can tribute one Lunalight monster on my field, and she can attack all of your monsters twice."

"Twice?" Yasuko repeated.

"That's right," Serene confirmed. "On the first battle, the monsters aren't destroyed, but I can assure you, on the second time, they are destroyed, and that means it's over!" She throws out her hand to the butterfly lady on her field. "I tribute my Purple Butterfly to activate Cat Dancer's special effect!" The purple butterfly bursts into dust, allowing the cat dancer to absorb energy to get enough strength.

"With that kind of power, Yasuko will lose," said Zuzu.

Yasuko gives a low growl. She needs to get an Action Card and fasts. She starts running across the frozen field to get herself one.

"Running won't save you, Yasuko," said Serena. "Cat Dancer can inflict 100 points of damage every time she declares an attack! Now, battle!" She points at the token monster. "Lunalight Cat Dancer, attack the Lunalight Token!" The cat dancer takes out her two knives and leaps on her bare feet over to Yasuko's monster.

Yasuko has to do something; otherwise, she will be done in a matter of seconds. "I activate Dark Anthelion's special effect! I detach one Overlay Unit to target one monster that you control and reduce its ATK points in halve, and Dark Anthelion gains those amount!" The last Overlay Unit, rotating around the dragon, bursts like a bubble.

(Dark Anthelion Dragon: OU 1 0)

Dark Anthelion opens the four panels on its wing to send a volley of purple electrical charges toward the cat dancer, but Serena makes a counter against the effect. "You're not the only one who can make a counter! I activate Crimson Fox's special effect from my graveyard!" she shouted. "When a monster activates an effect that targets a Lunalight monster on my field, I can banish it to negate it, and we both gain 1000 life points!" Serena banishes her Lunalight Crimson Fox to allow a mirage of the crimson fox lady to appear before the cat dancer. She raises both hands and halts the electrical currents from hitting the monster, protecting it.

(Serena: LP 1000 2000)

"Damn," Yasuko cursed.

Before the cat dancer can deal a fatal blow, Yasuko picks up her pace and runs to an ice boulder before she wall-runs up and swipes an Action Card on top.

"I activate the Action Spell, Full Fairing!" Yasuko plays the Action Spell Card: Full Fairing. "This card halves all the damage I would receive from battle or effect this turn!"

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 4 5)

Serena is surprised that Yasuko just used a Spell card even though it was not her turn. She comes to realize something in the duel they are on. Her eyes can only confirm what she has seen. From how the spell card was activated, it became vividly clear to her.

"I see…" said Serena. "You used a Spell Card that is out on the area even if it wasn't your turn." Now that she knows what she has to do, Serena makes a sprint. "In that case, I'll search for one!" She runs across the icy terrain to get herself an Action Card. "Even if you did manage to use one, you're still going to take the damage for real!"

The cat dancer leaps in the air and falls down to take a slash at the token monster, but it was knocked over because it cannot be destroyed. The token monster was spinning so fast that it was like a boomerang, hitting Yasuko by the stomach area and send her flying over until she crashes against a pile of snow. She grunts, feeling her chest wheezing after taking a major hit to her life points.

(Yasuko: LP 5000 2800)

"And since Cat Dancer attacked, you take 100 points of damage!" Serena added.

Yasuko tries to get back up, but she felt like her bones were about to crack after hitting the ice boulder. She pried herself on her knees, taking the effect damage into account.

(Yasuko: LP 2800 2750)

"Girls! Wait! You've got to stop!" Zuzu called out to the girls. When they didn't listen, Zuzu runs after them.

Moon Shadows is keeping an eye on the duel until the very end. Like a ninja, Moon Shadow disappears from thin air as if he teleported.

Yasuko glares at Serena with the same resentment that Yuto must've felt when the Academia invaded Heartland City. She cannot let herself be beaten by someone who is from Academia, the people who turned Yuto's world into a battlefield. She gets up and sprints to the nearby hills. The girl can feel the drag of her feet sliding down on the hill before running back on a flat surface.

"Cat Dancer, attack the token the second time!" The cat dancer leaps up in the air to spot the token from behind Yasuko, acting as a target on her back. Because of how far they are, the cat dancer throws her knife, impacting the token with a huge bang. The explosion hits Yasuko hard enough to make her fall back from the shockwaves. Her feet were lifted, making her fly over to misses catching the Action Card on the ground, and lands with a shout after taking damage. Her body slides under the ice across the field.

(Yasuko: LP 2750 550)

"And now Cat Dancer's effect!" The cat dancer throws the crescent moon item on her chest at Yasuko, hitting her stomach area again to inflict effect damage.

(Yasuko: LP 550 500)

"One monster was gone, which means my Cat Dancer loses 500 ATK points," said Serena. Because one monster on Yasuko's field is destroyed, the cat dancer loses some power.

(Lunalight Cat Dancer: ATK 6400 5900)

"But I still have one more attack to finish you! Cat Dancer, attack Dark Anthelion Dragon!" The cat dancer takes back her crescent boomerang weapon before throwing it at the girl. Yasuko gets back up fast and goes back for the Action Card. She snatches it and places the Action Spell Card: Blizzard Binding. "I activate the Action Spell, Blizzard Binding! This card ends your battle phase!" Just when the crescent boomerang weapon could hit Dark Anthelion, a blizzard storm swirls around the field, throttles the weapon's course back to the cat dancer.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 5 6)

Serena is frustrated, seeing that Yasuko managed to delay her defeat with an Action Card. "Again, with the Action Card. Why do you keep on cheating your way out of this duel," she questioned the girl.

Yasuko repositions herself, readying her duel disk as she glares at Serena. "This is an Action Duel," she clarified. "I can use Action Card whenever I feel like it."

Zuzu comes over the ledge where she can see the view of the duel from the high ground. "Yasuko!" she cried out to the girl. She didn't notice that Moon Shadow somehow reappears beside her with his arms folded and his gaze set at the match.

"I end my turn, and that means Cat Dancer's ATK points return to normal," Serena concluded. The cat dancer loses all of its attack power since it was the end of Serena's turn.

(Lunalight Cat Dancer: ATK 5900 2400)

Turn 4: Yasuko (0x card)

"My turn!" Yasuko draws a card from her deck. "I draw!" She looks at it and narrows her eyes. The card that she drew was Pot of Riches, meaning that it won't be sufficient to give her the edge.

"I activate Magical Abductor's Pendulum effect!" Yasuko removes three spell counters from the abductor mage to get herself a Pendulum monster.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 6 3)

A card pops out from her deck and adds Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon. "I add Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon to my hand!" Yasuko stated. "And then, I activate this! The Spell, Pot of Riches! It allows me to shuffle three Pendulum monster that are in my graveyard or Extra Deck and then draw two cards, but I can only Pendulum Summon after I activate its effect." The three Pendulum monsters that she shuffles are Reflection of Endymion, Dharma-Eye Magician, and Mythical Beast Jackal King. Once Yasuko draws two cards, she looks at what she has drawn: the Spell Card: Spell Power Mastery and the Quick-Play Spell Card: Mystical Space Typhoon.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 3 4)

"I activate Spell Power Mastery," she stated. "This card allows me to add one Endymion monster from my deck to my hand and then place one spell counter on cards on my side of the field equal to the number of Mastery and Grasps that I control or in the graveyard." She chooses one card to add, and it was Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic. "I add Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic to my hand, and add one Spell Counter to every card that I control."

The cards on Yasuko's field glow in bright from Dark Anthelion to the abductor mage, which activates its own pendulum effect.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 4 6)

(Dark Anthelion Dragon: Spell Counter 0 1)

(Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon: Spell Counter 0 1)

"And now, with my two pendulum monsters, I can Pendulum Summon monsters between levels 4 and 7 simultaneously! I Pendulum Summon! Appear, my monsters!" The moment Yasuko Pendulum Summons Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon (ATK 1200/DEF 2400) in Defense Position and Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic (ATK 2800/DEF 1700) in Attack Position from her hand, the portal above Yasuko rips open and allows the two monsters to come crashing down on the ice floor. "Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon, and Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic!" The dragon with red and green glowing eyes covered in blue scales encased by its bone armor and a magician with long white hair underneath his crown pointy helmet and black armored wardrobes decorated with Spell Counters emerged on her side of the field.

"Let's battle!" Yasuko declared. "Endymion, attack Cat Dancer!" The endymion master lifts his spell counter gem held in the air by the golden semi-circle ring on its palms and zaps a pink lightning bolt at the car dancer.

"Cat Dancer cannot be destroyed by battle," Serena informed.

"I was hoping you could think otherwise," Yasuko argued. "I activate Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon's special effect! If a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck is on the field, I can target it and negate its effects until the end of the turn!" The persona dragon blasts the cat dancer with a red beam highlighting the monster to effectively strip its indestructible abilities.

"Damn," Serena cursed. She looks around and spots one Action Card that was lying next to her. She hurries on over and grabs it. "I activate the Action Spell, Evasion!" Serena plays the Action Spell Card: Evasion. "This card negates your attack!"

Yasuko was not surprised. She was expecting Serena to make a move like that and prepares to counter it. "You think I didn't know you were going for an Action Card?" She raises her hand in the air. "I activate Endymion's special effect! When a spell, trap, or effect activates, I can return one card that has a Spell Counter on my field back to my hand to negate and destroy it! And then, Endymion gains the same number of spell counters that the card previously had!"

The endymion master throws the semi-circle spell counter device in the air, giving off a bright pink glow in the sky to effectively negate the Action Card. "I return my Odd-Eyes Mirage Drago back to my hand!" The mirage dragon in Yasuko's right Pendulum Zone disappears from the air, allowing the endymion monster to reject Serena's Action Card.

(Magical Abductor: Spell Counter 6 7)

(Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic: Spell Counter 0 1)

"What?!" Serena gasped.

"Endymion, attack Cat Dancer! Spell Power Blast!" The spell counters on the endymion master shine together like multiple stars. Then the pink lightning bolt destroys the cat dancer with a screech. Serena felt her body was shocked by the lightning bolt and screams in pain as she suffers battle damage.

(Serena: LP 2000 1600)

Zuzu and Moon Shadow witness the destruction of Serena's monster. It was a surprise that Yasuko can still stand against someone from Academia. If they are proved to be duel soldiers, how is it that Yasuko could counter someone like Serena? Any average duelist like Zuzu herself knows that the people from Academia are soldiers.

"Yasuko's still fighting strong down there," said Zuzu.

"True, but it's only a matter of time before she can deal the final blow," Moon Shadow stated, watching the match with his arms crossed. "The question is…can Serena hold on?"

Serena felt that her cheeks were getting frostbites because of the damage done to her. She looks up with Yasuko standing tall with her Dark Anthelion hovering in front of her. The sight of the Xyz monster makes her want to puke. She will not let an Xyz monster beat her in the duel. "Damn it," she cursed, clenching her jaws together. "I can't believe someone like you would stand up against me."

"If I can make a comparison, you're just another duelist that I've faced before," said Yasuko, narrowing down at Serena. "I was expecting something out of you, but you're all talk and no game. You have nothing to prove."

Serena glares hard at Yasuko. "So, you're saying that I am weak?" she accused.

"I'm saying that you're just a pawn," Yasuko reiterated. "The professor is using you. You're couldn't even stand against anyone in your state, for all I care." She is speaking out from what she believes based on the duel with Serena. "You are nothing but a chess piece in his conquest. A united world is nothing but crap. What you and your "classmates" are doing is nothing but commit wrong."

Serena did not take Yasuko's insults well. She was so ticked that Serena snaps herself back up despite the pain in her legs. There was a slight sting on her knee after crashing on the ground. Regardless, she wants to make Yasuko pay for all the insults that she said to her.

"I…am…not a pawn!" Serena yelled. "The professor believes in our strength to change the world! And I will prove to the professor that I can do it!"

Yasuko's eyebrows furrowed, turning her gaze into an infuriating glare. "You are such an idiot," she retorted. "You're not going to prove anything in this duel! Dark Anthelion Dragon, attack Serena directly!" Dark Anthelion flaps its wings to start heading toward Serena with its bone chin ready. The electrical energy powers the chin bone like a lightning rod. The girl realizes that the attack would deplete all of her life points.

Serena starts to run toward an ice boulder. She digs her boot on the boulder and leaps up to get herself over the ice hill. There was an Action Card lying on the ground. She dives for it and swipes it. "I activate the Action Spell, Evasion!" Serena activates the Action Spell Card: Evasion. "This card negates one of your attacks!"

Dark Anthelion was shredding across the ice floor with its chin bone piercing the ground, heading for Serena. However, the girl backflips just in time to avoid the chin bone close to her face. Serena disappears from the other side of the hills.

"Damn it," Yasuko cursed. "She already knows how to use Action Cards." Yasuko whistles to call Dark Anthelion. The dragon lowers its neck down, and Yasuko hops on. She holds on tight as Dark Anthelion zips past to the other side of the hill, leaving Zuzu and Moon Shadow.

"Wait, Yasuko!" Zuzu called to her, but Yasuko and Serena were gone, disappeared to the other side of the ice hills. "Come on!" Zuzu runs up to get over. Moon Shadow vanishes like a ghost, looking for a clear vantage point to keep an eye on the duel.

Yasuko and her Dark Anthelion come into a clearing where Serena could've jumped into. There was also a fissure on her right. She jumps off and scans the area around the clearing. "Looks like you've taken Action Cards, huh?" she quizzed. "I guess that means you are a pawn."

"I am not."

Yasuko turns to the voice of Serena, who comes out of the opening and stands ready with her duel disk. "I am not a pawn," she said. "The professor told me that I am a special case. And that means I will prove to him that I can defeat the Xyz who escaped to this dimension."

Yasuko does not want Serena to win the match. She will prove to Serena that she is nothing but a piece in a professor's quest for power. She takes out her last card in her hand, and then I end my turn," she concluded.

Turn 5: Serena (3x cards)

"My turn!" Serena called. "I draw!" She draws a card. By peeking at it, Serena can guess that the last card will be enough for her.

"Now the conditions are set." Serena thought. So far, in her duel against Yasuko, she is proven to be the most difficult opponent to face off. If their duel hadn't been an Action Duel, then she could've crushed him just like any other Standard Dimension duelists. "I never thought that someone from the Standard Dimension would be this good enough to make me do this," she speaks in her mind. "I'm going to bet everything on this turn right here."

Serena then takes out a card and activates the Spell Card: Luna Light Perfume. "I activate Luna Light Perfume!" she declared. "This card targets one Lunalight monster from my graveyard and Special Summons it!"

"And I activate Endymion's special effect to negate your spell!" Yasuko responded. "I return Magical Abductor back to my hand!" The abductor mage disappears from the Pendulum Zone to let the endymion master to gain its spell counters.

(Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic: Spell Counter 1 8)

Serena Normal Summons her Lunalight Kaleido Chick (ATK 1400/DEF 800). "I summon Lunalight Kaleido Chick!" On her field is a smaller Lunalight girl with yellow skin but a glitter cape behind her back while holding a wand and wearing a poster boy cap.

"Kaleido Chick's special effect!" Serena announced. "Once per turn, I can send one Lunalight monster from the Main or Extra Deck to the graveyard to have this monster be treated as the one that I send." She takes out her signature card: Lunalight Panther Dancer and sends it to the graveyard. "I send my Panther Dancer to have Kaleido Chick become her name!" A swirling vortex of red and blue breaks open above Serena as the panther dancer mirage merges with the kaleido chick.

"Now, I use the Spell, Red Moon Fusion!" Serena plays her Spell Card: Red Moon Fusion; a spell card that depicts a swirling vortex of red and blue with the blue cat and the cat dancer making a dancing ritual under the red glowing moonlight. "This card allows me to Special Summon up to two Lunalight monsters in my graveyard, but their effects are negated, and then I can Special Summon one Fusion monster using the monsters that are on my field." She motions to the kaleido chick. "I Special Summon Lunalight Cat Dancer and Blue Cat back to my side of the field and then Fusion Summon!" Sandwiching the kaleido chick is the blue cat lady and the cat dancer, all resurrected from the grave before a red moon appears in the sky. Everything was turning red. The whole sky was nothing but a crimson red night.

"Elegant beast dancing on the moonlit wilderness! The beast lurking in jet-black dress! The little bird who has opened her kaleido rays! Swarm in a vortex of the moon's gravity and revive with a new power!I Fusion Summon! Come forth! The king of beasts dancing atop the summit of the moonlight wilderness! Lunalight Leo Dancer!" Serena Fusion Summons Lunalight Leo Dancer (ATK 3500/DEF 3000) in Attack Position.

The three lunar monsters are consumed by the swirling vortex of red and blue under the red moon. Once the monsters are gone, a new one emerges from the portal. The red sky reflects the new monster that Serena summoned: a woman in purple-toned skin complexion who is wearing a bikini suit as her white hair is styled like a lion from the top to where it changed color to a violet red at the end of the braided by three gold rings carrying a long sabre sword

Yasuko knows that Serena will try to play her trap card like the last time, and it won't happen again on her watch. "I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Mystical Space Typhoon!" Yasuko flips up her face-down Quick-Play Spell Card: Mystical Space Typhoon. "This card targets one Spell or Trap on the field and destroys it!" The spell blows a powerful tornado that destroys Serena's trap card to pieces. It won't be enough to stop her.

Yasuko was prepared to face Serena and her powerful monster that may be the end of her match against Academia. She can't help but think that the Academia is no kidding about being a school for duel warriors. Everything that Yuto spoke about may seem to be true after all.

"Like I need to do that to finish you off here and now," Serena rebuked. "When a Lunalight monster is Fusion Summoned using Red Moon Fusion, she gains ATK points equal to half of her DEF points until the end of the turn." The leo dancer's saber started to absorb light from the red moon until the sky was turned back into the blue.

(Lunalight Leo Dancer: ATK 3500 6500)

Zuzu gasped. She knew right then that the match is decided right there. "That's enough ATK points to wipe out all of Yasuko's life points!" she exclaimed.

Yasuko growls lowly, ticked that Serena is going to finish her off once and for all. She scans the area that she and Serena are in. Her eyes caught the one that she is looking for. An Action Card was stuck to a frozen boulder. She sprints away, running as fast as she can to get to the Action Card. The girl turns back and wonders why Serena isn't going for the Action Card.

"Try and get Action Cards you want, but Leo Dancer cannot be targeted and is unaffected by card effects," Serena called. "This match is over!" She points at the endymion master. "Battle! Leo Dancer, attack Endymion!" The leo dancer swishes her sabre sword and jumps high like a cat.

Yasuko peeks her head and saw the leo dancer come falling down with her sabre up over her head, ready to slash all of her life points away. She brings out her hand and swipe the Action Card. "I activate the Action Spell, Ice Lock!" Yasuko activates the Action Spell Card: Ice Lock. "This card changes all monsters in the field to Defense Position."

"Haven't you been listening," Serena pointed out. "Leo Dancer cannot be targeted and is unaffected by your card effects."

Yasuko felt that it was a nail in the coffin because anything that is unaffected by card effects is really annoying, but it was enough to buy herself some time. "Even so, the monsters that I control will protect me from taking any further damage!" The endymion master switches to Defense Position as the sabre dancer slashed the monster in half, destroying it. Once the monster is destroyed, Yasuko can begin using its secondary effect. "Now, Endymion's special effect activates! When this monster is destroyed by battle with a Spell Counter, I can add one Normal Spell Card from my deck to my hand!" Yasuko selects one card that she can use to get herself the edge over Serena. She picks one and adds Fusion Substitute. "I add Fusion Substitute to my hand."

Serena is surprised by Yasuko's adaptability. Using an Action Card on her own monster is risky, but the girl was willing to use it to save her own life points. On top of that, she even has a card that allows her to Fusion Summon. "You used the Action Card on your own monster, and you get a card? That's very admirable, but Leo Dancer can attack twice per battle! So that card was a waste for nothing!"

"Twice?!" Zuzu gasped.

"Leo Dancer, attack Dark Anthelion Dragon!" The leo dancer jumps forward, raising her sabre high to strike the dragon. Dark Anthelion tackles in by flying high in the air and then energizing the chin bone with a surge of electricity. The leo dancer swings her sabre at Dark Anthelion and destroys it. The explosion was strong enough to send Yasuko off and crash into the ice boulder behind her and then the ice hills. She can feel like someone slams her back against the car. She falls under some of the piles of ice that avalanched from the hill.

Zuzu and Moon Shadow were taken back by Serena's sheer power to wipe her field clean of her monsters. Zuzu can see how Serena has Yasuko cornered with nothing to stand against the leo dancer from the high ground.

"Yasuko!" Zuzu exclaimed. She hurries on to check on the girl. Zuzu removes all the ice that is on her. She can hope that Yasuko is still okay. "Yasuko, are you alright?" she inquired. The bangs on her hair shadow her glare. She was giving Serena the daggers. When she does not respond, Zuzu turns to her Fusion counterpart. "Stop! This duel is over! I won't let you hurt her again!"

"Your friend there insulted me and my classmates, and she insulted the professor's mission," Serena stated. "If she wanted to duel me, then she should've known that I am from Academia. We train on dueling every day until our bones cracked. I am going to prove to the professor that I can take on the Xyz Summoners who escape to this dimension, and I will not let anyone stand in my way." She points at Zuzu. "Even if it means I have to duel you!"

Clearly, Zuzu sees a whole lot of anger diverting toward her and Yasuko. She was determined to prove that she can use dueling to fight even if it would hurt herself. Before Zuzu can get up, Yasuko suddenly grabs Zuzu by her left forearm, stopping her from even raising her duel disk.

"No," Yasuko croaked, her throat dry. "She's mine." Yasuko and Serena were giving each other sharp daggers the looked like they are ready to stab. Her frown never wavered since she has an Academia duelist to beat. She won't let Serena have her way not because she is from Academia, but because she believes in the crap that her so-called professor is feeding her.

"I'm the only one who's going to beat her," Yasuko vowed. She gets back on her feet, brushing off the snow and ice covering her black vest jacket.

"But Yasuko, you are down to only 500 life points remaining," Zuzu pointed out. "How are you going to be her monster that is unaffected by card effects?"

Yasuko glances at Zuzu. "I've got something I can do," she said. Walking forward, Yasuko takes her stance to Serena.

"You've got guts; I'll give you that," said Serena. "But it's only a matter of time before I wiped out all of your life points. I end my turn. And with that, Leo Dancer's ATK points return to normal." The power boost wears off to reduce all of leo dancer's strength to normal.

(Lunalight Leo Dancer: ATK 5000 3500)

Turn 6: Yasuko (3x cards)

Yasuko starts to think back to what Yuto said to her about Heartland City and Shun's story about his home being invaded by the people from Academia. She can't imagine what a person being turned into a card is like, but she can assume that it was not pleasant to watch. She will make sure that Serena gets a taste of defeat, but not from any Pendulum monsters that she has, but she claims to defeat the enemy.

"My turn!" Yasuko draws a card so fast that she leaves behind a turquoise motion trail from her draw with one swipe. She turns the card and sees that she has drawn a monster card: Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon. It's not the card that she needed, but she can use its full abilities.

"I Set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 4 Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon and Scale 8 Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon!" Yasuko declared. "I'm going to show you how I take back control of this duel right now!" She Sets her Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon (Scale 4) and Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon (Scale 8) at both her Pendulum Zones, recreating the rainbow "Pendulum" word on her glowing blue board.

The mirage dragon with heterochromia red and green eyes and the phantom dragon with blue scales covered in bone armor with red and green orbs at the backbone hover in the air until they stopped with their respective pendulum scales underneath them.
Serena knew right then that Yasuko is trying to get to do a Pendulum Summon. "Go ahead and try to pendulum summon," she dared. "You're outmatched."

"Not as long as I can draw a card with my life points remaining," Yasuko rebuked. "I summon Magical Abductor!" She Normal Summons Magical Abductor (ATK 1700/DEF 1400). The abductor mage that was used to be in the Pendulum Zone has reappeared in the Monster Zone.

"Now, with both of my monsters in the Pendulum Zone, I can Pendulum Summon any monsters between levels 5 and 7 simultaneously!" Yasuko Pendulum Summons Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic from her Extra Deck in Attack Position. "Here my soul roaring upon thy! I call forth the energy of my heart to unleash the flames of solemnity from within!! I Pendulum Summon! Appear, my monsters!" In the sky, between the two Odd-Eyes monsters, a wormhole rips open resurrecting the endymion master from the extra deck.

"And then, I activate the Spell, Fusion Substitute!" Yasuko activates the Fusion Substitute Spell Card. "This card allows me to Fusion Summon one monster using materials from my hand or field."

Serena raises an eyebrow of interest. She has seen Yasuko performing a Pendulum Summon and then an Xyz Summon, but never did she expect someone from the Standard Dimension to do a Fusion Summon. "A Fusion Summon?" she queried.

"I fuse Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon and Magical Abductor!" The persona dragon and the abductor mage flies up and into the swirling vortex of red and blue.

"Red Persona Dragon with heterochromia red and green eyes! Merge together with the mage of abductor to become a new dragon of venturing winds! I Fusion Summon! Come forth! Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon!" Using the abductor mage and the persona dragon, Yasuko Fusion Summons Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon (ATK 2500/DEF 3000) in Defense Position.

Odd-Eyes' fusion variant appears on the field with its turbine fan wings blowing the ice around Yasuko as the shiny green armor plates reflect the red and blue eyes of the purple-scaled dragon.

Serena makes a scoff. "Like that will do you any good," she said.

"Like I need a Fusion monster to beat you, Serena," Yasuko retorted. "I activate Nobledragon Magician's special effect from my graveyard! If I have a level 7 or higher Odd-Eyes monster on my field, I can reduce its level by three and Special Summon it, but it's shuffled back to the deck if this card is used for a Synchro Summon!"

Serena's eyebrows raised even further, surprised by Yasuko's next move. "A Synchro Summon?" she inquired.

(Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon: Level 7 3)

"I reduce Odd-Eyes Vortex's level by three to Special Summon Nobeldragon Magician!" Yasuko removes her vortex dragon's three levels to Special Summon Nobledragon Magician (ATK 700/DEF 1400) in Defense Position. The nobledragon priestess with a giant fork wand over her small little hands while in a white and purple priestess uniform appears on the field.

"I tune my level 3 Nobledragon Magician with my level 4 Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon!" The nobledragon priestess raises her fork wand high above her head to start chanting, which transforms her into three green rings. The vortex dragon was scanned by the three rings until it was nothing but an outline with four glowing white orbs in the center.

(3 + 4 = 7)

"Wonderous white dragon, spread those beautiful circuit wings to soar into the sky as fast as the winds can take you! I Synchro Summon! Arise! Level 7! Clear Wing Fast Dragon!" Yasuko Synchro Summons Clear Wing Fast Dragon (ATK 2500/DEF 2000) in Attack Position.

Clear Wing Fast emerges from the white pillar of light with its shiny crystal panel wings on the shoulder and embellished white armor over its black scales as the crystal panel wings ignite its circuits along with the golden yellow eyes.

Zuzu and Moon Shadow had never seen Yasuko pull out a monster such as Clear Wing Fast. They were taken back from the monster that it even made Moon Shadow lower his arms and stare at the girl with wide eyes.

"Another dragon?" Zuzu questioned. "Since when did Yasuko had a dragon like that?"

"Just how much power does this Yasuko person have?" Moon Shadow probed.

Serena had witnessed everything from Yasuko. From Pendulum to Xyz to Fusion and then to Synchro. She's never thought that Yasuko was capable of doing all four summons. "Pendulum, Synchro, Fusion, and Xyz. There's no way someone like you could've pulled those off," she said.

"There's more to me than meets the eye," Yasuko replied. "With my level 7 Clear Wing Fast and Endymion, I rebuild the Overlay Network one more time!" The vortex dragon turns into cosmic green energy while the endymion master transforms in purple light. The two lights flew up in the air before descending into the galaxy portal underneath her feet and then shoot one powerful beam.

"You may think that you can defeat someone from the Xyz Dimension, but I am a whole new type of person," Yasuko stated. "I Xyz Summon! Return! Dark Anthelion Dragon!" Yasuko Xyz Summons Dark Anthelion Dragon (OU: 2).

The galaxy portal ejects Dark Anthelion, who flies out from the ground and barrel-rolls halfway around until it hovered above the girl.

Zuzu watches Dark Anthelion appearing back on the field. It was the second time that she has seen Dark Anthelion. "It's Dark Anthelion Dragon," she said. "The monster that Yasuko used to beat Melania Herman."

Serena was utterly shocked. There was no way Yasuko could've put Dark Anthelion back into the Extra Deck and then resummon again. "Dark Anthelion Dragon?! That's impossible! I destroyed that thing! It should've been in your graveyard! You must be cheating!" she accused.

Yasuko is sure that Serena has never faced an Xyz Summon like Dark Anthelion before. "Perhaps if it was an Xyz monster, then it would've stayed there, but this one's a special case, and you're going to find out," she said. "I activate Fusion Substitute's effect from my graveyard! I can banish this card and then target one Fusion monster that is in the graveyard and then shuffle it back to my extra deck and then draw a card!" She targets her vortex dragon and shuffles it back to her Extra Deck. "I shuffle Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon and draw one card." She places two fingers on top of the deck, holding her breath as if she's anxiously hoping for a card that might even her odds against the leo dancer.

"Come on, I've got to pull something; otherwise, it's all over for me," she thought to herself. Taking a deeper breath, Yasuko draws one card. She takes a peek at it, and it was just the one that she needs to stand against Serena.

"The game is set," she declared. "I activate the Continuous Spell, Hollows Giant!" Yasuko activates the Continuous Spell Card: Hollow's Giant. "This card can only be activated if each of us controls one monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. As long as this card remains on the field, all monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck are negated."

"Did you forget?" Serena asked. "My monster is unaffected by your card effects. Why would you put yourself at such a risk that will make you lose the match?"

Yasuko narrowed her eyes at the girl. "Because I am betting everything in this final match." She points at the leo dancer. "Let's battle! Dark Anthelion Dragon, attack Leo Dancer!"

Zuzu and Moon Shadow are stunned. Clearly, they thought that Yasuko is out of her mind, with Dark Anthelion having fewer points than the leo dancer.

"What? But Dark Anthelion's still too weak to stand against that leo dancer," Zuzu pointed out.

Moon Shadow was keeping an eye on the match and notices something else. "Unless she's planned on that," he suggested.

"Now, Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon's pendulum effect activates!" Yasuko declared. "When an attack is declared involving my monster and yours, and if I control an Odd-Eyes in my Pendulum Zone, the monster that I control gains 1200 ATK points!"

"What?!" Serena gasped.

Dark Anthelion illuminates bright neon purple aura from its wings, gaining its power boost due to Odd-Eyes Phantom's pendulum effect.

(Dark Anthelion Dragon: ATK 3000 4200)

Serena was taken back by her opponent's final move. Her monster isn't strong enough to take on Dark Anthelion Dragon. She hurries on over to get herself an Action Card, away from Yasuko.

"You will not escape this time," said Yasuko. She makes an angry snort. "This is for all the people in Heartland!" She throws a punch. "Battle! Dark Anthelion Dragon, attack Leo Dancer!" She starts running until Yasuko jumps and Dark Anthelion catches her. She grips the neck holding on tight to let the winds blew her hair. She zips past a large boulder that was underneath Dark Anthelion

Serena looks around for anything that can stop Dark Anthelion's attack. Her eyes scan every inch of the area from the ice wall to the frozen floor. "There!" She dives over and grabs on Action Card that was lying on the ground. The Action Card was Restore. "I activate—" She was about to invert the Action Card in when Yasuko cuts her off.

"I activate the Action Spell, Action Crush!" Somehow, Yasuko was able to find a spare Action Card: Action Crush, from the boulder that she pasted. "This card destroys all Action Card in your hand, and for the rest of turn, any Action Cards added to the hand is destroyed!"

Serena gasped in shock as she saw the Action Card that was in her fingertips explodes into dust. "Crap!"

Dark Anthelion flies up before flipping back and flaps its wings to get more turbine burst from the vents opening with purple statics of electricity bursting around it. "Thunderous Revolt of Parhelic!"

With one swoop, Dark Anthelion hits its mark, effectively destroying the leo dancer with one crash. The explosion left behind by the attack cause Serena to give a grunt as she was sent flying back to near the cliffside. She was being dragged across the floor. She stopped before she can get over with her feet barely close to the edge.

Zuzu and Moon Shadow are alerted after seeing Yasuko's brutal attack. "Wait! Yasuko stop!" She does not want Serena to hurt Yasuko, but neither does she intend to let Yasuko inflict painful revenge on anyone like Serena. She starts running downhill and tries to stop the fighting between the two duelists.

Serena tries to get up, but the pain makes it hard for her to get back up. "Damn," she cursed. "I…I cannot lose… I cannot lose to an Xyz monster!" She lets out a shout.

Yasuko finds her act to be a denial of losing to something she considers to be the enemy. "Believe it, Serena," she said. "You are going to lose, and I'll make sure that you take it!" She throws her hand over to the girl hanging on the cliff. "I activate Hollow Giant's effect! When a monster was destroyed in a battle involving two monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, I can send this card to the graveyard and then inflict 1000 points of damage!" The continuous spell disappears from Yasuko's field to power up Dark Anthelion.

"No!" Serena cried out.

Yasuko jumps off of Dark Anthelion to watch it guide the electrical winds conjured by the spell. The dragon rose in the air and then dives down like a bomber to finish the job on Serena.

Just then, Zuzu comes over and brings out her arms. "Stop! Yasuko!" she pleaded.

Yasuko had little time to react to Zuzu's crazy move to get in front of her monster as Dark Anthelion crashes itself into the ice to create a cataclysm of explosions that sends both Zuzu and Serena flying over with Serena losing the match.

WINNER: Yasuko Yukihana

Zuzu and Serena were both sent flying over upwards from the attack before falling off the cliffside. The girls descend before someone grabs hold of Zuzu's hand. She gasped as she stops falling. She looks up and saw how Yasuko was grabbing hold of Zuzu's hand, giving off a grunting noise over her outstretched hand.

"Damn it, Zuzu," Yasuko growled. "What in the friggin' hell were you thinking?" She is putting all she has to get Zuzu back on the ground. It was a struggle. She is giving all she has to get Zuzu back to safety. It was a pain because now she needs to be careful as the Action Field is active, which means anything bad could seriously happen if things go south. After Yasuko manages to get Zuzu back on solid ground, both girls are looking over to see what has become of Serena

Surprisingly, Serena is clinching on an ice block that was not going to hold for much longer. She was struggling to get back on higher ground. She tries to get back up, but she nearly trips herself. Serena is hanging on.

Yasuko was looking down at Serena. She wants to make Academia pay because they attacked and turned into cards if she gets it right. She can only think of the men, women, and children who were turned into cards because of some crazy ambition. Looking down, Yasuko can see how desperate Serena is trying to get herself back up.

In the back of her mind, Yasuko wants Serena to drop after hearing everything that the people from Academia have done to Heartland City. For some reason, her instincts are telling her to get back down and save Serena. All she wants is to ignore the instincts inside of her.

Serena pulls up, but the rock she was holding on, is starting to crack. The longer Serena holds on, the harder it is for the rock to break. "Hey!" she called to the two girls above her. "What are you peabrain assholes doing?!"

Yasuko finds Serena to be a feisty duelist like her, only more outgoing. "Leaving you," she answered. Yasuko turns around and starts walking.

"Hey!" Serena shouted from overhead.

Zuzu was appalled by Yasuko's decision to leave Serena hanging on the cliffside. She turned halfway and called out, "Yasuko! We can't just leave her there!"

Yasuko breathes in and out of her nose with frustration, clearly annoyed at how clueless Zuzu is when she heard of Academia. She turned back to Zuzu and said, "Zuzu, I don't want anything to do with Academia or that bitch over there." She gestures her hand over to the cliff. "There is no way I would come over and rescue someone who would turn anyone, including children, into cards because they are monsters."

"But Yasuko, she still needs help," Zuzu pleaded.

"She's from Academia; they're trained to be duel warriors; if she can survive the fall, then she's golden," Yasuko excused.

"Not from a fall like that!" Zuzu argued.

"Why not let Moon Shadow do it? He's a ninja; he'll come to get her," Yasuko suggested.

"Yasuko!" Zuzu shouted.

Yasuko didn't need to say anything as she turns around to walk away, leaving Zuzu infuriated with her for leaving out someone hanging for dear life. "Are you seriously going to walk out on me after I told you to stop dueling Serena?!" Zuzu retorted. "Because if she gets hurt because of you, then you'll be no different than Academia!"

Yasuko's scowl hardens like cement concreting against the floor and about-faces back to Zuzu. "For God's sake, they turn people into cards! In. To. Cards!" she emphasized. "What makes you think they don't deserve to pay for that!?"

Zuzu had a lot to think about Academia. She believes that the people from Academia are wrongly waging their war against the Xyz Dimension, ruining their lives, and turning them into cards. She wants to hate them for it too, but then, her heart tells her not to hate the Fusion people like Serena for what they did. "I want to hate them too, I really do, but…" Zuzu paused, gathering her thoughts together. "But I think Serena doesn't know what they were doing."

Yasuko can't believe that she is hearing something from Zuzu that makes it repulsive for her stomach. "Are you friggin' serious right now?" She turned around and held her head like she is angry. Maybe she is mad because Zuzu is not listening to what she is saying.

"Yasuko, please," Zuzu convinced. "Why'd you think Academia came here to find Serena in the first place? Why are they after her?" She continues to question why would Academia be after someone like Serena. "I know it's wrong and horrible, but Serena doesn't know anything of what's going on from the Xyz Dimension. If I can talk to her about everything that Academia did in the Xyz Dimension, in Heartland City, then maybe she'll change her mind."

Yasuko was clear to Zuzu that Serena is from Academia, and they should repent for everything they've done. She can't even imagine what Zuzu is thinking right now. "What makes you think she is going to listen? You heard her. She's going to crush every from the Xyz in this Dimension-whatever they called it, and I wasn't going to let that happen."

Zuzu doesn't seem that she can convince Yasuko to rescue Serena. The longer they talk, the more danger Serena will be in. "Fine, but I'm still going back for her!" Zuzu had nothing to say for Yasuko as she turns around to come over to help with Serena. Zuzu had to be very careful because the edge is fragile, which can plummet the both of them to their demise if she doesn't be cautious. Zuzu sticks out to find Serena still holding on, but not for any longer.

Zuzu extends her hand outwards to Serena. "Give me your hand, Serena!"

The Fusion girl looks up to her twin, alternate universe-whoever she sees, with surprise. "What are you doing?" she asked.

"Just give me your hand!" Zuzu called.

Serena is obviously confused. She only met her counterpart once, and Zuzu is going to help her get back up. "But why?" she asked.

"Because I don't want anyone to get hurt!" Zuzu called. "Please hurry!"

Serena had no time to think as the rock she is holding starts to break soon. As the Fusion girl reaches upwards, the rock cracks. Serena starts falling, but then Zuzu extends her hand down further to grab hold of Serena's. Both girls are holding to each other for their dear life. The grip that Zuzu is clenching on Serena's hand is loosening. She cannot hold the girl for much longer.

"Climb!" Zuzu called.

Serena digs her heels and tries to start climbing but slips because of the ice. "I can't!"

Zuzu is putting all the effort she can to lift Serena, but her body was sliding forward because of the weight. Her grip is losing Serena's hand. The ice and snow are making their hold too loose. Zuzu can't hold her grip for any longer, and Serena starts to fall.

"No!"

In case of any decks that are lacking support, I will make some OC cards that are deemed necessary for other characters, however, only necessary, not all the time. Anyways, I apologize for procrastinating again. Sometimes, it takes a long time for me to read through what I've write before publishing it. I still got a few more chapters coming. But it is almost the end of the book one for this one.

Anyways, what do you think of the duel? Not much. Expecting another win? Well, I can tell you that the character has flaws, but she does have wins and loses in this book. There was no way, in hell, that I won't let her take the winning streak unnoticed. There will be times where the character cannot handle something, you just have to be patient with me, okay. I'm working on the many kicks of this story.

I hoped that you've taken the time to read this chapter through. This first book is almost complete. I will try to work on the second book as soon as possible. Thank you for taking the spare time to read this chapter through. If you like what you have read so far, then leave down a comment on what your opinions are, what needs to improve, and what needs to be addressed, and then I'll work something out.

Thank you, and have a Happy Lunar New Year!
