I DREAM OF RAINBOWS
Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.
The awesome and talented dowlingnana searched out my errors and corrected them.
Carlisle explained to the officer behind the counter the reason why they were there and mentioned who they wanted to see. That was when he and Esme were hit smack in the face with the surprise of a lifetime.
CHAPTER 47: WHAT NEXT?
"Cullen get your stuff and let's go. You have five minutes." The guard told Edward after waking him up from a sound sleep, or at least what could possibly be considered a sound sleep if you stretched your imagination a bit.
"What's going on? I don't need to collect anything."
"You do if you want to take it with you, otherwise, it'll just be thrown out after you leave. By the way, don't forget to bring your bedding up to the door with you." Was all that Edward received in a way of an explanation as he watched the guard turn away and head back to the watch office.
Not quite sure about what was happening, Edward did as he was told and got dressed since he had nothing else that belonged to him, grabbed together all of his bedding as he had been told to do and then he stumbled to the watch office still half asleep and very puzzled as to what was going on.
Once he was at the front, the main cellblock door slid opened, and another guard was standing there waiting for Edward. He motioned for Edward to step through, which he did, and then the door slid closed, cutting him off from all of the other inmates that he had been sharing the cellblock with.
Edward was told to turn around and to put his hands behind his back. That was when the new guard fastened handcuffs around Edward's wrists. During the whole time, no words were ever spoken to answer Edward's question about what was happening.
After the handcuffs were affixed, the guard silently took Edward by the arm and marched him down to the intake/outtake office of the jail. That was when Edward was told that he was being extradited to Seattle.
"I need to let my family know before we go." He told the guard and the two new officers that were facing Edward.
"Mr. Cullen, you can let them know once you're booked in at the Seattle jail, but not before. We don't want any surprises while transporting you back to Seattle." One of the new officers told Edward but didn't take the time to introduce himself or the other new officer that appeared to be with him.
It seemed that it took forever, but finally Edward was processed out and turned over to the custody of the Seattle Police Officers. The two officers escorted Edward down to the car they had waiting in the police garage and got him positioned in the backseat before they got into the front, started the car, and took off.
No one spoke a word until they arrived at LAX. That was when the officer in the passenger seat turned to face Edward and told him, "Cullen, if you'll behave yourself, we'll remove the cuffs from this point on until our arrival in Seattle. However, once there I'll have to put them back on. Regulations."
"Thanks. Believe me when I say that I'm not going to try anything stupid because I want to get this mess all cleared up so I can return home."
"Very well. Once we get out of the car, I'll remove the cuffs from you. That way no one will know what the true situation is." And, good to his word that is exactly what the officer did.
All three men proceeded inside, first to turn in the rented vehicle and then made their way to check in for their return flight to Seattle. After doing the check-in, all three went through the security check and headed straight to their boarding gate.
There wasn't a long wait until the flight was called and all three men, the two police officers and Edward, boarded the plane and took off for Seattle, Washington.

"What the hell do you mean he isn't here?" Demanded Carlisle of the officer he was facing. "You better have one damn good explanation why my son isn't available for my wife and me to be able to visit with him."
"Mr. and Mrs. Cullen, Edward Cullen was picked up early this morning by two officers from the Seattle Police Department and was extradited back to Seattle. That is all of the information I have on file." The officer behind the visitor check in desk told the couple.
With that news Esme turned pale and had tears that began to gather in her eyes. Carlisle, himself, wasn't in much better condition, but he did have the foresight to put taking care of his wife before his own needs. This news has come to a shock to both of them.
Carlisle gently turned his wife around and led her out of the office and then the building, all the way back to their car. He helped to put his wife into the seat and did up her seatbelt, before going around and getting into the driver's seat. Although all he did once he was behind the steering wheel was to sit and stare out the window the same as what Esme was doing.
"Carlisle, we need to get home and make a decision about an attorney for Edward." And, then she stopped speaking, suddenly she tilted her head to the side as if in thought and just as suddenly as she had stopped speaking Esme began once more by saying, "No. No, we don't have time to waste making a decision this far away from our son; we need to go to Seattle at once, then find an attorney for our son. This all has to be handled personally; not by long distance."
Carlisle looked at his wife for a moment and then nodded, "I agree. Let's get home, get packed and inform Emmett and Jasper about all that has happened.
"They will need to continue handling the company business while we're away and until we get Edward back here in a few days."
"Also, while we're in Seattle we need to talk with Ms. Swan and to locate this Sean Winston that came to see Edward." Esme stated and Carlisle was quick to agree with her suggestion.
So that decided, Carlisle started the car and the couple quickly headed home since there was a lot to do in such a short period of time.

Emmett was spending some time with Rosalie when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He had put the phone on silence to avoid any sort of interruption at the wrong time. So, when it did start to vibrate, he quickly declined the call and went back to what he was doing in the first place: a very intimate cuddle with the woman of his dreams. But before he could get back to the depth that he had been the phone interrupted the mood as it went off once more.
"Damn it, what the hell is going on and so important that someone can't take a hint.?" He mumbled aloud and then answered his phone with a very frustrated tone of voice. "Yeah, what the hell do you want?" He demanded as he answered, but quickly sat up straighter and leveled out his tone to being much more respectful.
"Yeah, Dad, I'm listening." And, he did without saying one word of contradiction until the person on the other end of the line hung up. Turning to Rosalie, Emmett quickly explained, "I've got to go. It seems that Mom and Dad went down to the LAPD to visit with Edward to get some answers about this whole mess but got hit with a big surprise. It seems that Edward has been taken to Seattle."
"What?!"
"I've got to go, Rosie, but I'll give you a call later. Mom and Dad are getting ready to fly to Seattle and I need to talk with them before they go." So, with that said Emmett quickly gave Rosalie a goodbye kiss and left.

Jasper was at the office going over some paperwork to make sure things were in order and no problems were popping up that would delay Emmett from being able to start the filming of the Swan book. His thoughts were so concentrated upon his work that at first he didn't hear his PA buzzing him about a call waiting to be answered by him.
When it did finally catch his attention he answered, like Emmett had done, a bit impatiently. However, he quickly calmed down as he listened to what his father was telling him about Edward.
"They've gotten him already?"
"Yes, son, and as I just mentioned you mother and I are getting ready to fly to Seattle this afternoon. We need to make sure that he has a good attorney, and then we are going to try talking with Ms. Swan so we can get a better idea of how we might be able to help your brother.
"After that we are going to try to locate this Sean Winston that talked with Edward and offered help. We feel that by doing this then we should be able to help Edward and to bring him home."
"I understand, but in the meantime what do you need for Emmett and me to do? How can we be of help?"
"You and Emmett can handle company business and keep things moving forward here until we all get back."
"Consider it done, Dad. You and Mom let Edward know that we're thinking about him and will do what we can to help."
After Jasper had hung up from talking with Carlisle, he sat considering all that could possibly be coming up and what might be needed to help his brother.
It didn't take him long to decide to call Alice and talk with her about the whole situation. Maybe between her, Rosalie, Emmett and him, they could come up with a workable plan that would aid Edward and his parents.

Charlie was furious about all that had taken place without his knowledge. He hadn't been given enough time to be able to speak with any of the higher ups in the D. A.'s office to see what he could do to clear up things for Edward Cullen.
From what Mike had told him a short while ago, the District Attorney had decided to send his own team down to Los Angeles to bring Edward Cullen back without any further delay since the California court had approved the extradition. Mike hadn't had the time to tell the D. A. that Charlie had posed as another individual and went to L. A. to talk personally with the suspect. So, the extradition was done without that knowledge.
The one other thing that Charlie had been able to find out from Mike was the fact that the extradition team was flying Edward instead of driving him back to Seattle. The only information that wasn't known was when the team had left or what time their flight would be returning. Only the D. A.'s office knew that.
However, the one thing that was known at the time that Charlie had spoken with Mike was that Edward Cullen hadn't been booked into the Seattle jail thus far. Mike told Charlie that he would call to let Charlie know when that did happen.
Charlie knew he needed to go see an attorney friend of his that he felt would be of use to Edward Cullen. Unfortunately, thinking he had more time to get things in place, now Charlie finds out that time isn't on his side. That's why he left in such a hurry this morning without telling Bella anything. He didn't want to take the chance that she would get all pissed off at him again and then they would be to square one the trust issue.
He would catch Bella up on everything after he was able to get this current mess straightened out.

Bella was concerned about what had gotten her father all upset this morning that caused him to rush off like he had, but she was sure that he would get things handled in no time and then be back. So, without further ado she returned to her writing until she heard the insistent ringing of the phone.
She tried ignoring it for a bit, but after they hung up it would start again and again, following the same pattern. Someone was determined to get a hold of her. That sort of insistence usually indicated some kind of trouble; the kind that Bella tried to avoid.
Looking at caller ID she saw that it was Alice calling her. So, she called Alice back before the phone could ring again. And, the phone was answered by Alice on the first ring.
"Alice, what the hell is so important that you have to try ringing my phone so continuously?"
That was when Alice explained all that Jasper had just told her. While she was listening to what Alice had to tell her, Bella sank down into her chair due to the surprise that was being delivered to her.
A/N: Well, Edward is on his way to Seattle, at last. Charlie is now having to scramble around to get things in place to try to help Edward as promised. Carlisle and Esme after receiving their shock are now getting things in order to follow Edward to Seattle. Who will prevail first?
Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing from you.
