Rescuing the Avatar
"Aang's gone," Toph said with the slightest hint of worry. Sokka smirked.
"I'm sure he'll come back in a few days once he licks his wounds again." He teased. Toph shook her head.
"Not this time. I can't explain it, but I don't feel him anywhere on the island. The first time he left he was just on the other side in the caverns." The gaang stared at Toph. Katara huffed.
"You knew where he was? The whole time? Why didn't you say something?" she asked trying to keep her tone even. Toph shrugged.
"I knew he'd come home when he was ready, and he did. This time something felt…off. I couldn't tell when he left the island. I just know he's not here anymore." She said her voice trembling. Alarm bells went off in Katara's head. If Toph was worried there was a reason to be.
"We need to find Aang," Katara said with assurance.
"We should talk to Zuko about it. I think he'll have some good ideas though he's in no condition to go anywhere right now." Suki and Sokka hummed in sync.
"I know you're worried about Aang, Katara; we all are, but Aang has to find his own way now. Whether he's here or not we must figure out how to stop the Fire Nation from destroying the world." Suki encouraged. She had seen enough of Aang's behavior to know he was not fit to lead a rebellion. It may truly be up to them to stop the war.
Katara sighed knowing that Suki was right. Aang would have to figure this one out on his own and join the fight when he's ready.
The gaang crowded around Zuko's bed. He was feeling well enough to sit up on some pillows propped behind him.
"He's gone? Is Appa with him?" Zuko asked with surprise. He knew Aang would never leave his beloved companion behind. The other three looked at Toph for the answer.
"I sense Appa is still on the island, but Momo is gone. He follows Aang everywhere." Toph explained. Zuko took in a deep breath.
"If Momo is with him then he's more than likely safe. We just have to wait and see what he's going to do, but still make our plans for ending this war. We must do our part. I'm sure Aang will do his." He said with more confidence than he felt.
On the mysterious island, Aang was in deep meditation. He felt as if he was almost in the Spirit world on the island and found a place that had the runes of his nation. He sat down and closed his eyes feeling the intense energy. Soon he heard the familiar voice of Avatar Roku,
"Hello, Avatar Aang. It appears we have much to talk about young one," the wise old firebender began.
