"Look I don't care how hard this will be. We are on a deadline. Fix it!"
Brooke took another aspirin. She couldn't wait to finish this project. The lead actor of this movie demanded another million dollars. Brooke and her father refused to pay him. He threatened to walk out of the movie. Brooke called his agent and threatened legal action and a blacklist if he went through with it.
She sighed. She hated to tell Winston she had another late night. Her headache was coming back. Especially when her phone rang.
Winston was staying in the Marriott. He saw Brooke's text and knew she was staying late. He wrote back it was okay. He understood. That is why he was here. He was looking for homes for the two of them. He winced at the prices of the homes. Wow. Three times more expensive than Sweet Valley. He made a decent living, but a radio DJ wouldn't be enough to make a down payment in the area Brooke worked. He looked in other areas. He knew what they both needed, but houses were expensive.
Tom made sure that the house was in immaculate condition. He and Isabella agreed to sell the house and split the profits evenly. He already found a place to live, he was going to rent a bachelor pad in the meantime before he moved in a new condo. He hated to leave, but he needed a new start. He was selling it at market value, but was willing to negotiate to get rid of it. As he picked up his suitcase he heard the doorbell ringing. He went to answer it, thinking it was his real estate agent. His face paled when he saw who was on the other side.
George Conroy was standing on Tom's porch. He was staring at Tom with a tentative smile. Tom just gave him a blank look.
"What can I do for you George?"
George looked hurt.
"Tom. It's been over a decade. Can bygones be bygones?"
Tom felt white hot anger throughout his veins.
"Ten years? Try a year. Isabella? You sent her pictures."
George sighs.
"I'm sorry. I was a sad lonely man. I regret everyday losing you. Elizabeth, Isabella. I was wrong."
"What do you want?" Tom didn't trust him, not since Isabella told him that she believed George was stalking her.
"I'm dying."
"And?" Tom didn't care.
George teared up.
"Tom. I wanted to apologize for everything. I know I hurt you, and drove you away. I deserve everything you said about me. The doctors gave me a year. I want you to take over my affairs. Your siblings are too young to handle everything."
Tom just stared at him. Dying? Yeah right.
"Really."
"Really. Tom. I have my lawyer come by. I know you won't forgive me, and I don't expect it. But think about it."
Tom watches as he drove away. Dying? Unless he sees the medical diagnosis, he didn't believe George for a minute. He went back inside. Good thing he was moving out of here.
Brooke was so busy. She knew she and Winston weren't going on their honeymoon, especially when she knew she was working on her next project after their wedding. Checkered Houses finally got the music rights from her mother's music label, royalties would cost a fortune, but Brooke knew that song was important to the film's story. She already had a lead actor in mind, actor Matt Barron.
Matt Barron was mostly retired these days, but Mr Dennis was a fan of his work back in the day. He personally contacted him at his home in Colorado, to see of he was interested in coming in for a screening. Matt was hesitant, despite being a A+ actor in the day. After his former fianceƩ, Julia Reynolds was murdered, he retired from Hollywood, despite him being a hot commodity at the time. He acted occasionally, usually small bits, plus guest starred in popular television shows. Brooke hoped he considered it, this role was perfect for him.
She wondered about the female lead role. This role needed a solid actress, unfortunately there wasn't anyone she could think of. Definitely not actress Connie Bryant. She just got out of rehab, again. Her star power faded long ago, she mostly acted in independent films and commercials now. Her resume was faxed over again. Brooke immediately filed it under the "Maybe if I Need a Nude Scene" file. Usually those roles were meant for washed up actresses and unknown models.
She had to fly to New York, her final fittings were needed. Especially since her wedding was coming up. She picked up the phone and called Winston. She was asking if he wanted to come to New York for a romantic vacation, since their honeymoon wasn't happening anytime soon.
