Kol Mikaelson had lived for a thousand years, if you don't count the few centuries he had been daggered and boxed up in a coffin, that is. And in those years, he had met and dealt with a great variety of people. Even though he wasn't much of a social person, he knew the basics of human courtesies, alright.

Kol was very sure if someone had followed a relatively new acquaintance blindly and had found themselves stuck in an alternate plane with no strategy or a detailed plan for a way out whatsoever —then the least they could get in return was a goddamn thank you.

But, no. Not according to Katherine Pierce, apparently.

The second they both appeared in an abandoned backyard with none of the wolves and insane witches around them, Katherine started screaming at him. "Why the fuck would you do that?" she had asked him, throwing her hands in the air, frustration evident in her words and actions.

For a second, Kol froze. He instinctively turned around to see if she was angry at someone behind him.

"I am talking to you, Kol," Katherine confirmed. "Just why the fuck would you grab me for? Now you are stuck here with me for who knows how long."

"A thank you would be appreciated, darling," Kol deadpanned. "And quite honestly, I don't really have anything lined up for the foreseeable future. Also, you promised you would let me accompany you on this trip."

Katherine sighed, calming down for a hot second. "That may be," she admitted. "But I agreed to this particular endeavor when I believed we would return in a few days —with the help of Maddox. But that's not the case now. We have shit resources at the moment," she explained to him, waving her hands wildly. "I mean, what about your family? What if searching for you leads Klaus directly to the wolves. The Cresent's don't want to be hybrids. This is the main purpose on why I am looking for Kai's help in the first place. I don't want Klaus to get his grubby claws on Hayley's pack."

Kol scoffed without any care. "One, Maddox and Greta gave you their promise they won't say anything to Klaus. Two, you are expecting much from my beloved family. They wouldn't even notice I am gone. Even if they do, I am sure Maddox and Greta will come up with some reason as to why I did not return to Mystic Falls."

"But what if they want to reach you to confirm themselves?" Katherine retorted.

"They won't," he said with conviction. "Rebekah, Lijah, and Nik are a group. And Finn is with Sage doing god knows what. So, trust me when I say they won't notice my absence when they already have everything they need. Also, I have been on my own for a long time over many years. They would never get suspicious."

Katherine just huffed. She didn't show him any sign of pity when he admitted he was the odd one out of his family, and Kol liked that. He didn't know what he would have done if she saw him like he is some broken toy that needs to be fixed or some similar shit like that.

"You do know, we will be sitting ducks until Kai finds us, right?" Katherine asked him instead, moments later as she took in her tranquil surroundings. It will be getting dark soon. "Between the three of us, he is the only one that can do any magic."

"You want him to siphon from us?" Kol asked with his eyebrows raised.

"No," Katherine said, shaking her head. "We have three options, actually," she said.

"Well—" Kol said, expectantly, when she saw her pause without explaining.

"Okay, so— there's an option where we can turn him into a vampire and create a heretic. This way, Kai can siphon magic from his vampire side."

"You can do that?" Kol asked, making Katherine look confused.

"You didn't know?"

"No."

"See, research is important," Katherine decided to say instead, and Kol rolled his eyes. "It doesn't matter if you are a thousand years old."

"Anyway, back to the plans," Katherine continued explaining. "According to the story, the day before his merge, Kai's twin sealed all her magic in some item, and since the parallel world replicates everything, we can search for that item and ask Kai to siphon from it. That's option two. And option three, we go to Nova Scotia."

"Nova Scotia?" Kol said aloud. "The place where Sila's is buried?"

"The place where the cure is present along with the headstone we found in Shane's office. That Candian rock contains calcified blood of Qetsiyah —Bennett blood," Katherine said with a smirk. "That way, we get the blood, the cure, and enough amount of power from the sedimentary rock for Kai to siphon and get us the hell out of here."

"Why would you want the cure, though?" He frowned in distaste. "You don't really wish to be human, would you?"

"I might, one day —when I am bored with immortality and eternal life. But not at the moment, no," Katherine affirmed. "There's no way I want to be a human when powerful supernatural creatures are lurking around, and I am still learning to get to know the secrets of the world around me." She paused. "But, the cure, however, is useful as leverage, or either as a weapon. There are many possibilities, to be honest."

She then narrowed her eyes at Kol in warning, "You better not talk about the cure with your siblings. I am not in the mood to supply endless doppelganger blood to Klaus just so he can gain one hell of an army and become more powerful than he already is."

Kol rolled his eyes, "Yes. Yes —you have already made it plenty clear, darling." He paused for a second and questioned, "And the spell for us to get out of here—"

"I memorized it," Katherine was quick to assure him. "And I am sure Kai has too, after spending these many years in this hell hole."

"And how do you suppose we can contact Kai without a witch on our side. What makes you sure he knows we are here," Kol inquires.

I know because Kai had been in Mystic Falls of all places when Damon and Bonnie came to the prison world. Not in the White House taking pictures in the Oval office, nor in Disney land. But in Mystic Falls, a good-for-nothing small town in the corner of North Virginia. Of course, he must know someone entered his world and where they are staying.

But Katherine didn't say that —couldn't tell that. So instead, she lets out a sigh, "Well, we can wait for a couple of days, and if we think he isn't going to come, then we can always try Will Smith's way."

"Who?"

"The actor," she then remembered Kol time-traveled to another century, so she went on to explain detailedly. "Right, sorry— Anyway, there's this movie called I am Legend. It's about Zombies," she shook her head and waved her hands all over the place, feeling like she is a second away to go off-topic. "The point is, in that movie, he looks for survivors by continuously playing recorded radio broadcast, instructing them to meet him at a certain place. Maybe we can do that as well, you know."

Kol furrowed his eyes, not really confident about it, "And do you know how to operate this radio?"

"Well, no," Katherine scrunched her nose, "But we can always—" she shrugged, "—Learn how to— by reading some books and doing a little research."

Kol started at her in disbelief.

"See, I told you you shouldn't have caught me," Katherine exploded. "I knew it was a longshot without a witch by my side."

Yet, you did it anyway. "I didn't say anything," Kol defended himself.

Katherine scoffed, "Yeah, I can see that," she said sarcastically.

Kol sighed after a deep thought. "Fine. I am a little skeptical. But it looks like you have everything figured out, so I will just follow your lead for now."

"You are the definition of rule-breaker," Katherine was quick to retort, crossing her arms below her chest. "You sure you can really follow my lead."

"I did say —for now, right," Kol said, "So, let's just see how it goes. Might be fun, who knows?"

"Fine," Katherine sighed, reaching an agreement. "We had a very eventful day. How about we just raid a hospital and get some blood bags for now."

Kol wrinkled his nose at that, and Katherine snorted, "Yeah, suck it up. There are no humans here, so you must stick with blood bags."

"Why do I think you are enjoying my suffering more than you have to."

"That's who I am," Catherine said, walking past him to get out of the bungalow's backyard and out of the compound. "I am a bitch who likes to take pleasure in other people's despair when they alone are the sole reason for their suffering."

"You never told me how you came across the mutts," Kol remarked from behind.

"You never asked," Katherine said over her shoulder.

"Well, seeing those mutts are a part of the reason I am stuck here currently, I might as well know the full story," Kol said, walking behind her.

"Fine," the younger vampire relented, "It's all started in New Orleans when Marcel Gerard asked a witch to curse—"

"Marcel?" Kol recited the name, "You don't mean Marcellus, do you? Because I am pretty sure that muppet is long dead."

"Oh, buddy," Katherine sighed, "You don't even know the half of it—"

Katherine couldn't help but think how easy this would all have been if she asked Tessa for help and be done with it. But then she remembered how perfectly articulated Tessa's words were. "I will give you all the help to shove the cure down Sila's throat, and when you are done with the task, I will give you what you wish for, only one wish."

And so, Katherine can't use such a wish for something she could do on her own, albeit a little challenging, the trip to the prison world is still possible. And when she finally reaps her part in the deal, she would like to take the money's worth. Tessa, after all, cost her life and tossed her into a fictional supernatural world for her selfish reasons, and Katherine isn't going to let that go. So, yes, Catherine decided to help the wolves first out of spite. She liked Hayley and the mutts more than Tessa. Also, with a power-hungry siphoner and bloodthirsty Original on her side, it will be easy to tackle Silas and complete the mission for Tessa and get the witch out of her hair.

"This is boring," Kol groaned in a drawling tone, breaking the younger vampire out of her thoughts.

"Shh," Katherine shushed the thousand-year-old vampire, staring intently at the task at hand.

"Why are we even doing this?" he asked, not minding her demands.

"Because we don't have anything to do," The younger one said calmly, still not looking at him.

"But fishing?" he said incredulously. "Really?"

"Well, I have never tried it," Katherine countered, holding the rod steadily, waiting for the fish to catch bait. "I also read it's a calming experience. Maybe, you should try it too. You have been getting extra frustrated and fidgety—" she said, continuing, "—like way more than usual."

"I don't know who gave you that ridiculous notion," Kol began with a disbelieving scoff. "Because fishing isn't for calmness or meditation. It's for those with lots and lots of patience, which I don't particularly have."

Katherine huffed, dropping the rod. "You really need to get some blood into your system. You are being cranky," she wanted to say, but she didn't. Because her expression spoke aloud for her. So, instead, Katherine settled by looking at him with a deadpanned expression. "Then why don't you go and learn how to operate a boat of the current century or a chopper to help us get to Nova Scotia," Katherine rants, "Or, oh, I don't know, read those books I brought on radio broadcasting and communication. It's been two days already. Maybe, we might as well try a new method to get our hands on the resident sociopath."

Kol narrowed his eyes a little, "I thought you were famous for your self-preservation skills, love," he spoke with a hard edge to his tone, "Yet, you seem extra sassy with me. Do you think I won't kill you?"

"I wouldn't have to be sassy with you if you weren't next to me and are a whole world away," Katherine said sarcastically, probably used to Kol's mood swings and death threats after two days. "And, two, what kind of heartless monster kills one-third of the world's population, much less, their only partner in crime. Where are your ethics, Kol Mikaelson?"

The dark look in his eyes dimmed, and the psychopath shot her a dimpled smile. "True," he said. "Were you always so sharp-tongued?"

Katherine hummed, thoughtfully, "It varies from moment to moment." She paused, getting up to her feet, "Want to do some reading?"

Kol made a face. The vampire looked like he would preferably interpret obscure rituals from multiple grimoires than spend two more minutes on radio frequencies and satellites. "Do we have to?"

"You do know that with our abilities, we can complete a book in a bare minimum of five minutes, right?" Katherine huffed, amused.

"Those precious five minutes," he said mournfully.

"Shut up," Katherine chuckled, walking away from him, knowing the Original would follow.

By the time the two vampires reached home, a surprise awaited them, a welcome one too.

"Hi, I am Kai," The sociopath greeted the two, munching on something. "But you already knew that at least that's what I got from listening to you two bicker every five minutes. I have to say I definitely thought one of you will kill the other, and you have only been here for what —two days. Also, I'm kinda curious as to why you both are here. However, that can wait for later because I am dying to know what Katherine's plan is to get out of here. I mean, I was totally waiting to see how you both were gonna operate the broadcasting thing, but then again, I didn't want to spend any more time here than I already am. So—"

"Does it ever stop talking?" Kol interrupted the newest guest.

"Rude," Kai commented, and Katherine sighed heavily. Maybe not so welcome.

Sorry for the wait. I was busy with exams, and the last one was this Friday. I thought to take a day for myself. But then I saw your 'Please update' requests, so here I am. And since I did it so hurriedly, I can't really tell if it's rushed or completely OOC for Kol.

What's your verdict.

Also, Kai is here. And I didn't really have time to write about the happenings of the real world. I just decided to write it when they go back, and Hayley or someone will explain to Katherine later or something. And, yeah, that's it for now.

Bye.
