Our morning started with me staring up at the back of palm observing the beautiful engagement ring on my finger. It was round cut, but inside was designed like a beautiful snowflake made of diamonds. In the natural light it twinkled. It fit perfectly on my ring finger. Vincent's head was gently nuzzled against my own observing it as well.
"Each little diamond cost me fifty grand." he informed. I looked at him stunned and he just remained smiling as he took my hand in his and brought it to his lips kissing them. "All worth it." I couldn't help but smile lovingly at him.
"When did you decide that you wanted to be bound to me under God for the rest of our lives?" I asked. He continued smiling.
"The minute Clay ripped that guy's heart out, who put hands on you at that party, and presented it to you." he said his tone serious now. "He literally gave you a heart to show his loyalty… I wanted to give you my mind, body and soul." I held back the tears that wanted to fall and leaned in kissing him lovingly. Our lips lingered here for a moment before slowly pulling back.
"A don meets an ambassador." I said softly. Vincent grinned.
"And this don is marrying that ambassador." he said grabbing a hold of my body and planting his face into my neck kissing all over my skin. I laughed out now leaning away from him as he continued to kiss all over me. "You know we got to celebrate right. Gotta get the families together." My smile remained, and I forced my body not to tensed.
"We can invite Clay and Tommy." I replied and he gave a soft pout.
"Your brother's club was just shot up. Now look I know he's a royal asshole, but maybe all that will change once he finds out you're getting married." he said. I scoffed.
"After last night, he's not going to want to say another nice thing to me." I replied. Vincent's stare was warm, but I could tell there was mild viciousness behind that smile.
"He will once he meets me." he commented. I smiled more with pride at the thought of him threatening my brother. Who knows if it would actually work, but still the thought was cute. I think Clay would get his threat across way more than my loving fiancé. I leaned in to kiss him and Vincent smiled accepting my lips.
"Let's plan our celebration first." I replied. He nodded.
"Already got it planned for next Saturday at La Buona Tavola. I'll invite my family, you invite… whoever you want and we will celebrate." he said and I grinned and nodded liking the idea.
"Sounds like a plan." I replied. We leaned in and shared another kiss before moving out of bed in unison to get ready for the day. I didn't make it to the closet, since my cell was ringing on the nightstand. I moved to see who it was. James. The energy around me was now serious as I answered it.
"Speak." I demanded.
"You really want to help me catch the mother fucker who shot up my business?" he asked swiftly.
"Already said I would." I replied just as quickly.
"Meet me at Truth. One hour." he replied and hung up. I put the phone back down and gave a soft jump as I felt Vincent's hands on my shoulders. He smiled at me.
"I got to take care of business at the club. You go handle your business and be safe, mi gemma nera." he replied. I smiled at his words before we separated from each other to finish getting ready.
Already in an hour, I was walking through the halls of Truth with Clay behind me. Light fixtures were shattered, bullets riddled the halls. The floors were dusty and there was police tape all over the place. As we reached the main hall, I could see my brother in the middle standing next to Tommy and…
"What the fuck is he doing here?" I asked glaring at Kanan who smirked.
"What's up shawty long time no see." he said giving me a look over.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" James asked motioning his head toward Clay. I scoffed.
"Clay is my personal assistant he doesn't leave my side." I said. Kanan smirked.
"What damage can you do little man? Just how loyal are you?" he asked. Clay just looked at him for a moment.
"I would cut your heart out and eat it before Ms. St. Patrick if she asked me to." he replied in a matter of fact tone. I smirked.
"As entertaining as it would be to see… why am I here? Do you want your check now?" I asked James who just stood there looking annoyed, his hands clasped together.
"Nah. I want this Yakuza business handled. Kanan and Tommy have already helped with that." he said. I winced looking at Tommy and then at Kanan. They've helped? What was going on? I looked James.
"What did you do?" I asked lowly. James motioned his head for me to follow as he turned and began to walk down one of the back halls. Tommy followed and Kanan lingered a bit giving me a look before moving to follow. Clay stepped beside me.
"Do you want me to kill him?" he asked. I stared at the back of his head for a moment.
"Yes, but not now." I merely replied before following after the three men. I didn't like us all being here together again, the four of us like this. It was never a good thing when we were. I followed the men to a door and we went through it going down a flight of steps until James pulled out a key and used it to unlock the door at the bottom. Once inside I saw tarps all over the floor and in the middle of this small room was Kai tied to a chair, face bloody and different colors. My eyes widened at the sight of him. We all stopped a few feet from him. I stood beside my brother, Clay stood beside me, and Tommy and Kanan stood opposite of James.
"You know who this is?" James asked. I looked at Kai's gagged face as he spewed something in Japanese.
"I know who he is, but why is he here?" I asked. Clay began to look Kai over smirking as he leaned over some to admire the work someone did on the man.
"He was involved in the shooting at Truth." he said and I just turned to my brother.
"Do you have any solid proof of this?" I asked. Tommy stepped beside James pulling out what looked like a mini Ipad. He cut it on and it showed video footage of people waiting outside of the club to go in. In a quick flash someone on a bike rode right through the people shooting at everything as it rode directly inside the club. Two more bikes followed. The men wore helmets and that alone was enough for me to say there wasn't proof.
"I had a team get information on the bikes and the guns used. Followed the money back to a hotel where this… man was staying at." James told. I scoffed. There was no way they got proof this fast.
"Did you see this man specifically fire at you or your wife?" I asked loudly and Tommy shook his head.
"Look closely at the first gunman… whatchu notice?" he asked. I looked at him and then at the video as he swiped to different angles. I looked at the first gunman and noticed he was definitely struggling to fire and ride the bike straight because of his hand in a sling. I slowly leaned back and looked at the now groaning and moaning and I noticed his now swollen hand that was cuffed behind the chair. I stared at the hand for a moment before my eyes finally looked at Kai. As if reading my mind, Clay walked over and removed the gag from Kai's mouth.
"THESE MOTHERFUCKERS ARE LYING!" he shouted.
"Should have hid your Yakuza tattoos better if you didn't want anyone catching on." Kanan said. I looked at the videos more and he was right. I could see neck tattoos and wrist tattoos as Tommy zoomed in on the frozen images. If I hadn't seen these tattoos on these men earlier, I would be able to actually build a case to protect Kai. But I couldn't.
"Look we took care of the others responsible. He's the leading gunman… and he's from your drama." James said stepping close to me, his shoulders down as if he were calm, testing me. "You said you'd handle the people responsible. So handle it." I could see in his eyes he still didn't believe I had any authority any power. I just stared up at him with lifeless eyes.
"Clay." I replied. He moved with such purpose. He pulled his hand gun out, I held my hand up, he cocked the gun, he placed it in my hand, I looked at Kai, I aimed, and I fired. Blood splattered from the hole that formed in the back of his head and his body jerked for a second before his head limped down. Tommy and Kanan watched not surprised. But James's eyes flexed. He was stunned that I pulled the trigger of a gun and ended a man with such ease. His little sister killed a man. I held the gun up and Clay took it without question and placed it back into his coat.
"Clay will help you get rid of this body and ensure that this video footage is sent to me. Now we are even. Now on a lighter topic. I am getting married and we will be celebrating La Buona Tavola. Tommy you are expected to be there. James and Kanan you are not. I have other business to attend to gentlemen." I replied and turned began to walk back through the door. Other business indeed. I had a war to prepare for.
