Chapter 48

An hour later the doorbell rang and after Carly opened up the door Jack walked in with a worried look;" Thanks for calling me, Carly. Where's Sage?"

"She's upstairs and don't look so worried, Jack. I doubt if Sage is really sick." said she with a faint smile;" She's just doing this to get you down here."

"Why?" asked her ex-husband surprised;" I was just here earlier."

"I know, but appearently that's not enough for our daughter." sighed Carly;" This isn't good, Jack. I don't want Sage to learn that it's okay to trick people. I know that she probably learned that from me, but I don't want her to act like that too."

"You're not like that anymore, honey. You're not!" answered he, wanting to take Carly into his arms to comfort her. Realizing it would probably only upset her even more he decided not to;" If Sage is faking this then we should have a talk with her and set her straight on that."

"It's my own fault. I have used some stupid tricks over the years to get my way too and Sage thinks that it's okay to do that." said his ex softly;" Maybe I shouldn't have called you."

"You did the right thing by calling me!" replied Jack when Sage suddenly came downstairs;" Your mother said that you were feeling sick, Sage. Is that true or is this a trick to get me to come down here?"

"I do feel sick, daddy. I really do." answered she with a sad look and nearly flew into his arms;" Mom already made tea, but that didn't help."

"If you really feel sick then you need to go up to your bed and stay there, honey. I will tuck you in and then I need to go home again!" said her father with a firm look;" Go upstairs and I will be there in a minute or so."

"Okay, daddy." smiled Sage, gave Carly a big hug and rushed up the stairs;" Bye, mommy."

"She's totally faking it." replied she with a faint smile as she looked at Jack;" She has you wrapped around her little finger, Jack Snyder!"

"So do you." laughed her ex and quickly kissed Carly before going up the stairs as well;" I'll be right back."

Ten minutes later Jack came back down the stairs and sat down next to Carly on the couch;" I had a good talk with Sage. I made her understand that she can't trick us into doing what she wants us to do."

"And do you think that it make a difference?" asked Carly;" That she won't do the same thing again next time?"

"No, not really." laughed her ex;" Probaly not, Carly."

"I'm glad that you're finding this amusing." sighed she;" I just don't want Sage to start making the same mistakes that I did."

"She won't and you worry too much." said Jack;" Where's Rosanna?"

"Rosanna left about half-an-hour ago." answered his ex and couldn't help it but smile when she saw the look that jack was giving her as he leaned in closer;" Stop it, Jack!"

"Stop what?" asked he with an innocent look;" I'm not doing anything."

"Yes, you are! And you need to stop!" replied Carly as she got off the couch;" We can't do this! We can't give the kids the wrong idea."

"We're not doing anything." said her ex while he got up as well and followed Carly into the kitchen;" Would you please stop walking away each time we're having this conversation?"

"You know what I mean, G-man." sighed she softly without looking up at him;" We can't do this, Jack! You are still married to Janet and who knows how long it will take before you are divorced."

"I'm doing everything that I can to get her to sign those damn papers! And you know that all I want is to be with you and our kids." began Jack slowly as he made Carly look at him;" I love you!"

"I love you too." replied his ex with a sad smile, feeling shivers all over her body as jack looked at her with those loving eyes, and gently touched his face with her hand;" I have always loved you, G-man."

"You're all mine,lady!" smiled he and gently kissed Carly on her mouth;" Don't you ever forget that!"

"How can I when you keep reminding me." laughed Carly as she felt disappointed as Jack pulled back after one kiss and walked away;" Where are you going?"

"Home, Carly. I think we both know what would happen if I stayed right now." answered her ex with a mischievous smile, kissed her again with much more passion and left;" Sweet dreams, Lady."

"Sweet dreams, G-man." smiled she a little out of breath after that kiss and knew that once again she would be dreaming about him again that night.
