A.N. — After touching upon a Darker witch two chapters ago, it's time to balance that out with an (I assume) Lighter witch. Though the story here is decidedly sombre. This drabble, more than most, could've been easily 1,000 words instead. Part of that will be spun into tomorrow's installment.
49. Pandora Lovegood
Pandora opened haunted eyes, already castigating herself. Her daughter was in the room! What was she thinking, doing dangerous experimentation with Luna about? Pandora wasn't in the habit of denying Luna knowledge, but she fervently wished she'd sheltered her from this.
Her workspace was devastated, her daughter missing. Frantic searching revealed Luna under the charred remains of her desk, hunched over the fallen form of...herself?
Cognizance settled in with a gentle pull, leading Pandora away from the heart-rending scene. Her self-loathing anger wasn't enough to tie her there. Luna might eventually forgive her for leaving; Pandora would never forgive herself.
