Without further ado, let the chapter begin. Happy 1 Year Anniversary of The Adventures of Rosie!
Farron stared at the empty seat right beside him. Math class was coming to an end and once the bell rings, it will be time for lunch.
Normally Farron would hang out with Rosie during lunch. But since she can't go to school for two weeks, Farron has to go back to the anime club. Not that Farron didn't want to go there, but it's not the same without his little friend.
RING!
Farron quietly sigh and he packed up his things.
"Hey Farron, is Rosie okay?" Mia asked him as she had her friends right behind her.
Harper added, "Is the ray of sunshine okay? You seem like something bad happened."
Owen crossed his arms and looked upset, "Don't tell me that Suzie picked on her so badly that she's going to switch schools?"
Farron looked at his classmates and answered, "Don't worry, Rosie just got injured during the weekend. So she's probably not going to be at school for two weeks."
"Two weeks!?" The girls said in shock and Owen frowned, "What accident did she get into?"
Farron nervously smiled, "It's a long story. But Rosie will be fine. I was planning on visiting her anyways. She probably needs someone to keep her company during this time."
Mia and Harper immediately smiled and Owen asked, "Hey, I know we don't know each other much. But can we visit her too?"
That caught Farron off guard, he looked at his three classmates. "Um...I guess but how do you guys know about Rosie besides being in the same class as her?"
"Even though we're just classmates, Rosie has been kind to all of us. She has helped us in the past while we were in high school. But we never go the chance to ask her if we can hang out with her." Mia admitted.
Harper nodded, "Yeah, she looked like she was always busy or has something on her mind. So we decided not to bother her."
Farron sigh, "Well it would be nice for her to have some friends."
"She deserves friends. When I came to this school in the middle of junior year, Rosie was the first one to help me out. She escort me to a few of my classes and kept me company until I got comfortable and found some friends to hang out with." Owen whispered.
Mia smiled, "Rosie is always kind and always there to help others. This year, we have the worse teacher for English class. Our teacher has a strict rule that if you don't have a pencil or paper, then you're going straight to ISS. She would always help me and a few other students out by giving us some spare paper and pencils."
Harper sigh, "I remember how much I got bullied by Suzie and her crew until Rosie stepped in and stood up for her. It still surprises me that she doesn't have much friends."
Farron grabbed his backpack and got an idea, "Hey, why don't we surprise Rosie by going to her house and hang out with her? I'm sure she'll love having you guys coming to see her."
"We should bring her gifts to help her feel better!" Mia suggested.
Owen agreed, "That sounds like a great idea. Farron, since you're Rosie's friend maybe you can tell us what she likes."
Farron smiled and motioned them to follow him out, "First, let's get some lunch and then we'll discuss what to get her."
Staying in bed all day wasn't what Rosie had in mind for the next two weeks. Under the doctor and her parents' strict orders, Rosie needs to be bedridden until her wounds fully healed. The only major injuries that Rosie obtain during the fight with Seth and the two EVOs was on her arm and lower abdomen.
Farron told Rosie that their teachers will send over some work for her to do on Friday. They would rather give her a whole packet than to give her a few sheets each other. It would save Farron more time that way.
So until Friday comes around, Rosie has to find ways to relax. Which shouldn't be difficult, right?
When Rosie slowly got up, she walked to her bookshelf and looked for a book to read.
She was stuck with a few selections: City of Mask, Found, MHA Vol. 24, and Paranoid.
Paranoid was one of the new books that Rosie got from her date with Aaron. Their last date, the couple went to Barnes & Noble to look for some books to buy. After they bought two or three books, they spend the rest of the afternoon reading in the cafe until it was time for them to leave.
Since Rosie hasn't read Paranoid then she thought it would be the perfect book to read while she recovers. There was 387 pages in the book and it was one of the few books Rosie hasn't read yet.
So maybe, this was a perfect way to distract her.
"I thought I told you to stay in bed." Rebecca said as she entered the room with a box in her hands.
Rosie smiled, "I was just getting a book. Don't worry mom, I'm going back to bed now."
Rosie carefully made her way to her bed and asked, "What's in the box?"
"The kids send some get well cards and gifts to you. They hope you're making a quick recovery." Rebecca smiled and set the box down.
There was a few handmade cards inside the box and a few stuff animals. Rosie spotted some of the kids' favorite books in the box as well. Rosie grabbed a few cards and smiled.
She can tell which card belong to which one of the kids.
"I can see that Debbie is working on writing in cursive." Rosie smiled and looked at the handwritten note from her oldest student.
Rebecca admitted, "She has been working hard. But we can tell that she feels responsible for what happened with Ava and Blake."
Rosie sigh quietly and still felt guilty about what happened to the kids. She did promise them that she would be right behind them while she finished fighting off the threats. However, that took a sharp turn quickly. Rosie has been trying to talk to Ava that it wasn't her fault for her injuries.
Poor Ava still doesn't believe her.
"Mom, can't I just come back to see the kids? I'm sure when they see me they'll calm down." Rosie begged.
"I'm sorry Rosie but you need to wait until your wounds heal. Any sudden movements could result in your wounds getting reopened." Rebecca said while Rosie sigh in defeat.
Six entered the room and said, "Care to explain where did you three other friends from?"
Rosie started laughing and said, "That's a funny joke dad. I didn't know you can tell joke."
"He's not joking sweetie." Rebecca said and Rosie made a face then she got up.
Rosie felt a sharp pain on her side again. Which made her knees buckled and both her parents immediately went to grab her. They tried to get her back to bed but Rosie exclaimed, "Don't worry, I'm alright. I just want to go see my 'friends'."
"Too late, we're already here." Farron smiled as he appeared at the doorway.
Rosie smiled and waved at him when Rebecca helped her sit on the bed. "Hey Farron! Did you bring your friends over?" Rosie asked.
"Actually, I've brought three classmates over. But they said they wanted to be your friend. Is it okay if they come in?" Farron said as he wanted everyone's approval.
"They can come in. But tell them that Rosie will take a while to come downstairs." Rebecca admitted and Rosie added, "Yeah, I really don't want anyone to see me in my pajamas."
Farron got the message and excused himself as he hurried downstairs. He made his way to the front door and opened it. Mia, Harper, and Owen walked inside with little gifts in their hands. "Behave yourselves. She'll be down in a minute." Farron told them and took them in the living room.
"Did she look happy to have more friends?" Harper smiled.
Farron rubbed the back of her head and said, "Well, she thought that I brought my friends over at first."
"Don't worry, we're going to be her friends now and she won't get rid of us that easily." Mia said confidently and everyone sat down on the couch.
Owen looked around the house and spotted Ava spying on them from the kitchen as she stayed quiet.
"Does she have a little sister?" Owen asked when Ava dashed out of the kitchen and made a run for it up the stairs.
Farron chuckled, "Yeah, technically Ava is adopted but that doesn't make the family love her any less. Rosie was an only child until last year when her parents offered to take care of Ava. Not long after that, Ava became a permanent member of their family."
"That's very sweet." Mia softly said and they heard Rosie asked, "What's sweet?"
Rosie was walking towards them but linked arms with her parents to help support her while she walked. Rebecca and Six made sure Rosie took her time to sit down on the sofa near the couch. Farron took noticed that Rosie was feeling discomfort when she was trying to sit down. It was obvious that Rosie was masking her pain and she did a good job hiding it from Harper, Mia, and Owen.
"Hi Rosie. Um...do you remember us?" Mia asked.
Rosie started to smiled and said, "Of course I do. You're from my English class with Ms. Wynne. Your name is Mia Stones, right?"
Mia stared, Rosie was really good at remembering things. She was impressed that Rosie got her last name right.
"And your name is Harper, Harper Daniels? You're in my math class with Farron. As for you Owen, I remember you from junior year. Your last name is Larson, am I correct?" Rosie asked and Owen blurted out, "Dang. She's really good."
"We'll get you kids some snacks." Rebecca smiled and she and Six went to the kitchen but made sure to keep a watchful eye over them.
Rosie smiled and tried to get comfortable on the sofa.
Owen looked over at Rosie, beside from the bandages wrapped around her arm, she looks to be okay.
"Hey Rosie! We've got you some get well soon gifts! We hoped you like them." Mia said as she and Harper held up the small gift bags.
"Thank you so much. You guys are so sweet." Rosie smiled when they gave her the gifts.
Farron watched as Rosie opened the presents and he kept quiet. After everything that Rosie has been through, gaining some new friends could help speed her recovery process. But if he knows anything about Rosie, then Farron suspects that something might happen along the way. There has been a handful of times that has happened.
"Hey Rosie, you don't mind if draw on your cast right?" Harper asked as she held up a Sharpie.
Rosie looked at her bandaged arm and responded, "Sure. I don't see why not."
Harper and Mia immediately went to Rosie after they grabbed a few handful of colorful Sharpies. Owen glanced at Farron and asked, "You okay dude?"
"Yeah. I'm fine." Farron promised and watched as the girls were busy chatting away.
