Owen ran down the basement steps looking for Nikki he stopped to throw open the door with out knocking.
"Whoes on fire," Nikki asked.
"Your up good," Owen said.
"Finishing a paper why," Nikki asked.
"Bring it upstairs and listen for Allison," Owen said.
"Teddy," Nikki asked.
"In labour," Owen replied.
"I'm coming," Nikki said.
"Your here with Allison I'll call mom then you," Owen said.
"I'll bring Allison up to see you when your ready," Nikki said.
"You know the plan," Owen said turning and walking back upstairs.
"Owen," Teddy moaned as he came back into their bedroom.
"It's okay," Owen said, "we're going to go soon. Nikki is coming up for Allison."
With Teddy leaning on the dresser Owen rubbed her back.
"It's time to go," Teddy said, "this is it."
"Can you walk," Owen asked.
"I can," Teddy said her body tilted forward.
"Lean on me and take your time," Owen said.
"This hurts more than Allison did," Teddy whined.
Teddy had a huge pain tolerance, if she was saying it hurt Owen knew she must be in agony.
"Lean on me I've got you," Owen said.
Teddy turned towards him moaning and leaning on him.
"Stairs," Owen said, "do you want me to carry you?"
"I can do it," Teddy said, putting one hand on the railing. Owen kept his arm around her supporting her.
Nikki was standing at the bottom of the stairs.
"I'll get the door," Nikki said, she remembered Allison's birth and that Teddy had only wanted Owen to be in her space or talk to her.
"Nikki," Teddy moaned.
"Allison is good with me. Teddy she's good," Nikki assured.
"Give her a hug for me," Teddy commanded.
"I will," Nikki said, "we'll see you soon. Everything is going to be good."
"Thank you," Teddy groaned.
Owen helped her out the door and down the porch steps into the truck.
Nikki locked the door and set the alarm behind them. She went back to the basement and got her computer and text books.
Owen had called ahead and Addison met them in OB.
"How are you doing Teddy," Addison asked.
"This really hurts," Teddy moaned.
"Do you want pain relief," Addison offered.
"I can do it," Teddy groaned.
"When did labor start," Addison asked.
"Around noon," Owen said, "she wanted to stay home as long as we could.
"Of course," Addison said, "it's one AM so you've been at this a while."
"My water just broke," Teddy said standing beside the bed.
"Let's examine you and see where we're at," Addison said.
Addison did the exam, "6cm and nice strong contractions."
"I need back up," Teddy said.
"What do you want to do Teds," Owen asked.
"Walk," Teddy said, "I want to keep walking."
Owen wrapped a second hospital gown around her back and put an arm around her supporting her as they paced the loop around the floor. Teddy was focused on staying upright pausing to breathe with each contraction. Owen nodded at the other fathers supporting their partners making slow loops around the ward.
"Let's go back to our room," Owen said he knew Teddy was slowing down as she was in more pain.
Teddy nodded. He gently guided her back and helped her sit on the bed. He sat beside her and rubbed her back letting her lean on him to rest when she wanted.
"Call Addison," Teddy panted.
Owen paged Addison and helped Teddy get somewhat comfortable. Addison did her exam quietly and nodded.
"Okay Teddy you know what to do," Addison said, "when your ready you can push."
Owen and Addison coached Teddy though hours of pushing before they heard a soft wail.
"She's here," Teddy said, "give her to me."
"She's perfect," Owen said watching as Addison laid the baby in Teddy's arms.
"Amber Nicole Hunt," Teddy whispered. "I'm your mommy."
"Hi baby girl I'm your dad," Owen whispered running his finger over the baby's cheek.
"Can I check her over," Addison asked.
"Yes," Teddy said allowing Addison to take the baby from her.
"Seven pounds three ounces," Addison announced, "22.5 inches. She's perfectly healthy."
"Can I have her back," Teddy said, "I want to feed her."
"Of course," Addison said, placing Amber back in Teddy's arms.
After Amber had been fed Teddy passed her to Owen to hold.
"You are as beautiful as your mommy," Owen whispered holding Amber close.
Amber opened her eyes to look at Owen for the first time.
"You have your mommy's green eyes," Owen breathed.
Owen bent to show Teddy, it was the first time Amber had opened her eyes.
A while later after spending time the three of them cuddling and getting to know Amber Owen asked, "should we call mom and Nikki?"
"They girls need to meet each other," Teddy agreed.
Owen stepped into the hall to call Evelyn.
"Is the baby here," Evelyn asked.
"She is," Owen said, "Amber Nicole Hunt, 11:45am, 7 pounds three ounces. 22 and a half inches."
"How's Teddy," Evelyn asked.
"Good," Owen said, "exhausted that was longer and harder than Allison."
"Has she had any rest," Evelyn asked.
"She's napping," Owen said.
"I have Allison," Evelyn said, "Nikki is in class. Why don't Nikki and I bring Allison up just after dinner and let you and Teddy get some rest."
After dinner Evelyn and Nikki met back up in the hospital lobby.
Nikki had a gift bag in one hand and Allison's hand. Evelyn carried a gift bag and a tote bag with a still warm dinner for Teddy and Owen. They made their way up to the maternity ward and knocked on the door.
Owen opened it and crouched in front of Allison, "are you ready to meet your baby sister?"
"Sissy is here," Allison asked.
"She is," Owen said, "her name is Amber."
Owen picked Allison up and carried her to the bed where Teddy was holding Amber.
"Allison, this is your sister Amber," Teddy said, reaching one arm for Owen to put Allison on the bed with her.
Allison snuggled against Teddy and looked at the baby awestruck.
"My girls," Teddy beamed.
Owen put his arms around the three of them, "my girls."
"She's pretty," Allison whispered.
"She is," Owen agreed.
"Like a dolly," Allison said.
"She is little like your dolls," Teddy agreed looking between her newborn and her nearly four year old.
Owen grabbed a gift bag from the night stand, "munchkin this is for you from Amber."
"A present," Allison asked.
"Yes a present," Teddy smiled as Owen put the bag in Allison's lap.
"Can I open it," Allison asked.
"You can," Teddy said.
Allison threw the paper on the floor and pulled out a pink T-shirt with I'm a big sister on it and a new barbie.
"Mom, squirt," Owen invited looking to where Evelyn and Nikki were still standing by the door letting the family of four have their moment to be them.
"Come meet her," Teddy smiled.
"We brought you a proper dinner," Evelyn said, putting the bag on the table as she approached.
"Thank you," Owen said looking in the bag finding the roast chicken dinner.
"Food," Teddy asked, "I'm starving."
"Roast chicken," Evelyn smiled, "we brought lots."
"Thank you," Teddy replied.
"This is Amber Nicole Hunt," Owen introduced.
"Her middle name," Nikki said.
"We talked about that," Teddy said.
"I didn't think you were serious," Nikki replied.
"We were," Owen said, "do you want to hold her before mom?"
"Can I," Nikki asked.
"Come meet your new niece," Teddy said.
"This is for Amber," Nikki said, passing Teddy the gift bag. Teddy passed it to Owen who lifted out the white bear, this one wearing a dress.
"Mrs Bear for Amber," Owen chuckled.
"You started it with Mr Bear," Nikki said.
"I did," Owen said, "go meet your niece."
Nikki took the new baby from Teddy, "Hi sweetie I'm auntie Nikki your dad's little sister. Welcome to the family little Amber."
Nikki held Amber for a few minutes before she passed her to Evelyn.
"Hi Amber I'm your grandma," Evelyn whispered, holding the newborn carefully.
"Teddy, Owen, she's beautiful," Evelyn said.
They stayed until it was time to take Allison home to bed.
"Ally say good night to Amber," Nikki said, "I'm going to take you home for your bath, story and bed."
"No," Allison screamed.
"Allison, come say good night," Teddy said.
"No," Allison yelled again.
"You need to go home with Auntie Nikki," Owen said, "she's going to be with you tonight then mommy, Amber and I will be home around lunch time tomorrow."
"I want to stay with you," Allison sobbed.
"Not tonight baby girl," Teddy said, "we'll be home tomorrow. You have to go with auntie Nikki now."
"I want to stay with you," Allison sobbed.
"Owen go with her," Teddy mouthed.
Owen shook his head.
"Come on Ally," Nikki said, "why don't we go home and we can have ice cream before your bath."
Owen knelt down in front of Allison, "here's what we're going to do munchkin. You're going to go home with Auntie Nikki, have your ice cream then a bath and she'll read your story. When you're already for bed auntie Nikki is going to call us and mommy and I will sing your song. Then you're going to go to sleep."
"Can you come home tonight," Allison begged.
"No mommy and Amber have to stay here," Owen said, "I'll stay with them and see you in the morning. Auntie Nikki is going to stay in the guest room so she's right next door to you."
"Please," Allison begged.
"We will see you tomorrow," Teddy said, "I can't leave tonight. We will be home as soon as Dr. Montgomery says we can go."
"Come give mommy, Amber and say good night," Owen directed.
Allison dragged her feet back towards the bed and Owen lifted her up.
"Good night big girl," Teddy said hugging Allison and holding her tight, kissing the top of her head.
"Night mommy," Allison whispered, "night baby."
"Night munchkin," Owen said, hugging Allison.
"Come on Ally," Nikki said standing in the door and offering her hand. Allison reluctantly took Nikki's hand and allowed herself to be led from the room and to the car home.
