Mom, Secrets And More

Chapter 52

During the continuing talk with his mother and Lee, Jamie asked her, "Does Dad know about you and Lee?"

Amanda had looked at Lee strangely and then nodding to Jamie replied, "Y-Yes, he knows that Lee and I are agents-"

Jamie, with a persistent smile, followed up with, "Yeah, but does he know you two like each other?"

Lee and Amanda shook their heads as Amanda cleared her throat, and gesturing answered, "Yes, your dad and I talked a bit about that at the hospital, but we were more focused on you at the time, alright? Now, since you've finished eating, why don't you go put your things in the dishwasher and then go wash your hands, please? We're gonna be leaving soon."

"Okay, Mom." Jamie nodded as he got up from his chair. Taking his plate and glass, he turned towards the kitchen, and walking away replied, "You know, it's okay with me if you guys wanna date."

Lee and Amanda shared a bemused look watching Jamie head into the kitchen, and shook their heads, trying not to laugh!

As Amanda and Lee finished their coffee a few moments later, Jamie emerged from the kitchen commenting as he headed for Lee's bedroom, "I'll be out soon, Mom."

"Alright, Sweetheart. Thank you." Amanda responded.

As they heard the bathroom door close, Lee and Amanda got up from the table and took their coffee cups and Amanda's plate, heading into the kitchen.

Putting the items into the sink, Amanda turned on the hot water, while Lee added a bit of dish soap stating, "What a character!"

Amanda shook her head as she began scrubbing the dishes and giggling said, "Can you believe that? He doesn't give up!"

Lee answered, "Sounds like someone else I know."

"Hey!" Amanda said playfully, hitting Lee with the dish towel.

Lee jumped slightly, grinning and nodding as he asked, "How old is he again? Eleven?"

Amanda answered with a smirk, "Eleven going on twenty at this rate..."

Lee laughed for a moment, "Right," then asked in a serious tone, "So, are you free this evening?"

Amanda, rinsing off the soap and putting the dishes in the dishwasher, queried, "Why? Another case?"

Lee shook his head replying evenly, "No, but I thought maybe now that things are a bit calmer with Jamie, that we might be able to have that talk over dinner. What do you say?"

Amanda nodded without hesitation, "Okay."

Lee bewilderedly asked, "Really? So, what story are you giving your mom?"

Amanda shook her head as she wiped down the sink with the sponge and then drying her hands with the dish towel, commented with a shrug, "No story. Just the truth. That I'm having dinner with a friend...Which you are. Besides, she's already met you."

As they left the kitchen, and went out to the living room, Lee winced stating, "Yeah, but we were at the school at the time and things were rather strained if you recall-"

Amanda touched Lee's arm gently and responded softly, "Hey...She was worried about her grandson. But he's fine now, or soon will be. Anyway, like Joe, she's going to have to get used to seeing us together."

Jamie came out of the bedroom then answering, "All set, Mom...Oh, Lee? I made your bed, too. Thanks for helping me out and letting me crash there last night."

Lee smiled, shaking his head, "You didn't have to do that, but you're welcome, Jamie. Glad you're feeling a little better... Um, I do want to ask you something before you leave, alright?"

Jamie nodded. "Sure... What?"
