Chapter 53: Talent Show

Prince Bradley of the Rose Region is currently walking to the center of the backyard where Kiara is. He's been living at the castle for 3 weeks already.

"Wow, you're really energetic, Meloetta." Kiara said.

"Loetta!" Meloetta said happily, flying around Kiara. Kiara laughed slightly as Meloetta flew around her.

Meloetta froze, hearing footsteps. She quickly made herself disappear and she flew off.

"Meloetta?" Kiara questioned.

"Hey."

Kiara turned her head and saw Bradley sit down on the grass next to her. "Oh. Hi."

"What are you doing out here?" Bradley asked.

"Umm...just enjoying the fresh air." Kiara answered. She remembered that May told her to not tell anyone about Meloetta, because strangers could try and capture her.

"Then could we talk?" Bradley asked.

"Of course." Kiara said. "Was something on your mind that you need to get off your chest?"

"Well...let's just say...I think you're really pretty. Would you like to go out with me sometime?"

Kiara's eyes widened. She felt her face heating up. "Y-you're...asking me out?"

"Yeah. So what do you say? I'll take you to a fancy restaurant."

"I...I say…" Kiara started. She smiled shyly. "I think that sounds great."

"So, we'll leave at 9?"

Kiara nodded. "Sounds good."

"Okay. Well, I look forward to later." Bradley said, standing up. He started walking back to his guest room.

Kiara blushed as she watched him leave. ("A date...with a Prince.") She thought. ("He might actually prove to be better than a commoner.")

Meloetta appeared in front of Kiara. "Loetta!"

Kiara looked at Meloetta and smiled. "Good thing he didn't see you."

Kiara and Bradley went to a fancy restaurant for a date and they had a pretty fun time. They talked and laughed with each other and when they got back and Kiara went to May's room…

"You two are dating?!" May yelled in shock.

"Umm...yeah…" Kiara answered unsure. "Why are you so surprised?"

"It's just...he's a Prince." May said. "How can you two date if the kingdoms are so far away from each other?"

"Oh. Don't worry about that. He said that he'll extend his stay, so he can be with me." Kiara exhaled dreamily. "He's so good-looking, don't you think?"

"Sorry. Can't say."

"Why not?"

"Uhh...because I have a fiancé. I would never call another boy 'cute' or 'good-looking' even when Drew isn't around."

"Aww…"

May blushed at the way Kiara cooed. "Just...I hope Bradley is really your true love."

"I do too."

It's the last Friday of the month of May. Today is a talent show. Over the month, people would sign up to perform in it, including the gang.

The talent show had already started and a few performances have come and gone. The gang is more towards the front of the audience. They're watching the singers, dancers, and other talents that the students have. And soon, May will be called up next.

May and Drew are of course sitting in the audience next to each other. Drew reached over and took May's hand in his. May looked at Drew.

"Drew?" May whispered.

They interlocked their fingers and Drew tightened his grip on May's hand. "You're up next. I wish you luck." He whispered, not looking at May yet.

May smiled. "Wow. I didn't think you'd actually compliment me."

Drew smirked and looked at May. "Well then, try not to fall off the stage."

At that moment, the song that was playing just ended and the applause sounded throughout the whole theater. "And next up on stage, we have May!" The host announced.

May smiled. "That's the Drew I know. I'll try my best to not fall off." She stood up, taking her hand out of Drew's, and she walked up on stage. She took her place behind the microphone and the audience silenced, so they could hear May's song.

May made eye contact with everyone of the gang and her eyes stopped at Drew, the last one to glance at. She smiled and Drew leaned back in his chair to enjoy the show. May looked up at the audience in general and the music started playing.

(This song is "It's Always Been You" from The Lodge.)

"It's always been you." May sang. "Every day's another day gone by. Lucky breaks or big mistakes. Every day's another chance to try. Cause we might just get it right. If I don't know where to turn, if I crash and burn, so much to learn. Suddenly you're standing there. Like a breath of air, you're everywhere." Drew smiled, knowing that this song has to be about him. No more overthinking, now I know."

"I can always lean on you. Count on you." May continued. "And if I'm ever gone too long, come back to you. Everything I'm asking for. Looking for. Somewhere deep inside I always knew. It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh." May made eye contact with Drew. "It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh."

May looked back up and continued singing to the audience. "Whenever I'm here with you, it's hopes and dreams, and skies of blue." May took out the microphone and moved the stand to the side. "Whenever you're here with me, it's meant to be, like destiny." May walked back to center stage and faced the audience, smiling brightly. "Every time we reach the end, we pick it up, and start again. Suddenly you're standing there. Like a breath of air, you're everywhere. No more overthinking, now I know."

"I can always lean on you." May sang, looking at Drew again. "Count on you. And if I'm ever gone too long, come back to you. Everything I'm asking for, looking for. Somewhere deep inside I always knew. It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh. It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh."

May walked forward and kneeled down, sitting down on the edge of the stage, legs hanging off of it. She stared into Drew's eyes and the front rows could tell that she's singing directly to Drew. "We stand the test of time, and after all, I'm yours, you're mine." Some girls were jealous of May as they watched her sing to Drew. "We stand the test of time, and after all, I'm yours, you're mine." Drew's smile widened.

"I can always lean on you." May continued. "Count on you. And if I'm ever gone too long, come back to you. Everything I'm asking for, looking for. Somewhere deep inside I always knew. It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh. It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh. It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh. It's always been you ooh ooh, you ooh ooh." She sang, finishing the song.

The theater erupted into applause and cheers. May lifted her legs back up on the stage and she stood up. She put the microphone back in the stand and walked to her seat.

"So, how was that?" May asked Drew.

"It was alright." Drew answered.

May furrowed her eyebrows. "Well, Mister, let's see how you do."

"Next on stage is Drew!" The host announced.

Drew flicked his bangs. He looked at May. "I'm sure you'll like the song I've chosen."

May crossed her arms and faced forward. "We'll see."

Drew chuckled and stood up. He walked on stage and stood behind the microphone. He glanced at May before looking up at the entire audience in general. The music started playing.

(This song is "Superhero" from Austin & Ally.)

"Sometimes love's a scary place." Drew sang. "It's like standing in the dark. Flying through the universe, trying to fix your broken heart. It's okay to let it go. You don't have to be so brave. Take a chance if someone else is gonna swoop in and save the day." Drew made eye contact with May and he smiled. "You don't have to face your fears alone. Cause whenever you're in trouble, I'll know." May smiled, knowing that this song is specifically for her.

"Let me be your superhero." Drew sang to the audience in general. Some girls were swooning over him and his romantic song. "There isn't a place I won't go. Whenever you need me by your side, I'll be there, be there. Never be afraid if you fall. I'll carry you away from it all. Let me be your superhero. Let me be your superhero."

"Take off your mask, put down your guard." Drew continued. "Don't need a symbol on your chest." He looked at May. "It's alright for once to play the damsel in distress." May laughed silently. "You're gonna use up all your strength trying to be so strong. Don't have to shoulder all the wait. Together we can take it on. You don't have to face your fears alone. Cause whenever you're in trouble, I'll know."

"Let me be your superhero." Drew sang to the audience in general. "There isn't a place I won't go. Whenever you need me by your side, I'll be there, be there. Never be afraid if you fall. I'll carry you away from it all. Let me be your superhero. Let me be your superhero."

Drew did some vocalizing. "Let me be your superhero." And then more vocalizing.

"Sometimes love's a scary place." Drew sang. "It's like standing in the dark. Flying through the universe, trying to fix your broken heart. Yeah."

"Let me be your superhero." Drew continued. "There isn't a place I won't go. Whenever you need me by your side, I'll be there, be there. Never be afraid if you fall. I'll carry you away from it all. Let me be your superhero. Let me be your superhero. I can be your superhero. Let me be your superhero." He sang, finishing the song.

Lots of applause was heard for Drew. Drew walked off the stage and sat back down next to May.

"So?" Drew asked.

May looked at Drew. "So...what?" May questioned.

Drew looked at May. "Did you like the song?"

"It was...alright, I guess." May answered, shrugging her shoulders slightly.

Drew chuckled. "You know you loved it." He teased.

"I...umm…" May paused before continuing. "Were you singing that song to me?"

Drew faced forward. "What do you think?"

May found herself blushing. She knows with that answer and Drew's smirk that he definitely sang that song for her. He sang to her about being her superhero. How romantic can he get?

May faced forward. "Well...good. Because if you sang that song for someone else, I'd be extremely mad at you right now."

"I know. And I'd only ever want to be your superhero. Not someone else's." He took her hand and May blushed.

"W-was that song supposed to tell me to not use my power?"

"It didn't say that." Drew said. "It was just telling you that…" he turned his head to look at May. "I'll always be there to save you." May smiled.

May looked at Drew. "It was a pretty romantic song. I hope you win the trophy, because I won last year."

"I can't believe I won." Drew said as they walked. It's after school now and the gang is all walking to the front of the school after the talent show.

"You deserve it. Your song was great!" Dawn said.

"I knew you'd win." May said.

"Thanks, guys." Drew said. "And next week is my birthday, so you all are invited to the mansion."

"Sounds great." Gary said.

"We'll be there." Kiara said.
