Ch53
He and Percy ran to the outskirts of the Empire State Building when a large dark shadow fell from the sky. Fafnir landed and let out a loud deafening roar as it nearly fell to the ground. He, Percy, and nearly everyone else nearly fell down as the dragon landed. "Wh-What the hell is that thing," Connor said as he stared in horror at the creature.
"What kind of monster is that," Thalia said as she and Zoe watched Fafnir in horror. All the campers were temporarily paralyzed with fear, even Clarisse who was gripping her spear looked uneasy.
He activated Sigurd's armor and Gram while Percy activated his knew armor and held Balmung. "Guys me and Magnus will try and take care of it. Malcolm make sure none of our lines get broken," Percy said.
Malcolm nodded, "I-I will try my best," he said his voice filled with fear.
Fafnir looked at them with hateful eyes, he was tall and had black scales all on his back. He was just as he had seen in his dreams. "Good luck kid be careful now," Gram said.
"Thanks. I am a little nervous but hopefully we can take it out," He said.
However, just then a few campers run up to them, "We are being over run!" One of them said with fear on their face as they watched the dragon.
Percy swore, "Ok, maintain some sort of perimeter and prevent their advancement as soon as possible. Thalia and Zoe can your hunters help them?"
"We are on it," Thalia said as she and Zoe ran off.
"Are you two seriously going to think about fighting that thing!" Conner said in fear.
"Don't worry I believe they can," said a familiar voice. He and Percy turned around to see Chiron in full armor approach them. "Hello Magnus glad to see that you are back. You brought friends I see good we will need them." Blitz, Skirnir, and Hearthstone bowed to Chiron as he waved at them.
"Chiron can you help us with the waves of enemies while me and Percy take out Fafnir?" Percy asked.
Chiron nodded, "My brothers are already on it."
Percy nodded and turned to the other counselors. "I need you all to help maintain our perimeter. Will take Castor and Pollux and go help tend to the wounded." The three of them nodded as all the campers ran to go tend to their tasks.
"I take it you two have some sort of plan?" Chiron asked.
"Sort of ," he said. "Percy I can summon water if you need it."
"Really? Cool that will be helpful. Looks like we have company though," Percy said. They turned and saw Ethan Nakamura along with that green haired kid. They were both holding Annabeth in chains. He felt his blood boil in anger as he saw his cousin's body which looked like it had been beaten. Ethan was waving a flag of truce at them which they nodded and accepted.
He turned to Skirnir, Blitz, and Hearthstone and quickly signed to them that they should save Annabeth when they got the chance. They nodded and stood to the side as Ethan approached.
He looked at his cousin in her eyes and for a second his heart stopped. However, the look in her eyes was defiant and he knew that she wanted them to win at all costs and save her. Don't worry we will save you he looked up at Ethan and that green haired girl who was smirking.
"What do you guys want?" Percy asked firmly.
"Lord Kronos wants to ask for your surrender," Ethan said. "Fafnir is on our side and soon your forces will be overrun," he said firmly. "If you all surrender now we will let her live,"
The green haired kid put a knife to Annabeth's neck and it took all of his strength not to jump and strangle the kid. However, Annabeth's eyes were defiant and gave him strength. Just hold on a little longer we will save you he thought as he looked at his cousin and nodded.
Percy looked at Ethan and at the green haired girl, "I'm sorry but we cannot accept that," Percy said firmly. He looked at his friend and saw the same determination to free Annabeth, he knew Percy cared for his cousin as much as he did and that it was not an easy decision but he knew Percy was strong and would make the right decision.
"I wouldn't push Lord Kronos's kindness," The green hair girl sneered as she placed a dagger at Annabeth's throat. "One wrong move and she is dead."
He gripped his fists as he saw Percy glare at the girl. "We won't yield to your threats," Percy said firmly as he gripped his fists.
The green haired girl laughed while Ethan looked at her, "That's enough Alex no need to provoke them."
The girl Alex laughed and removed her knife, "Awe you are no fun. I was just having fun with her." The green haired teen glared at them with a sinister smile. "Lord Kronos will put you privileged ass wholes in your place."
"Oh shut up," he said as he glared at her. "Kronos won't win no matter how hard you think."
The green haired girl glared at him but Ethan spoke up, "Well if that's the case then I am afraid Fafnir will be unleashed," Ethan said.
"Don't worry we are confident that we can take it down," Percy said with a smile.
Ethan nodded as Alex rolled her eyes. They both picked up Annabeth and walked back from when they came. "Magnus, are you ready?" Percy asked
He smiled at Percy, "Of course," he turned to Skirnir and the others who nodded. He picked up the horn his father gave him and blew it.
A loud sound reverberated throughout the area. The sound was like a war horn but it strangely sounded peaceful. It vibrated throughout the area. And he could feel the energy of his father in it as he felt his body strengthened in both energy and moral. He watched as Ethan and Alex looked in shock as their weapons they were holding flew into the air while Annabeth's chains fell off.
It happened quickly, Annabeth who must not have been disarmed knocked down Ethan and stabbed Alex with her knife. He then watched as Skirnir raced towards her in the chariot, while Samirah undid her invisibility cloak managed to get her with the help of Blitz and Hearth before Ethan and Alex could react.
"Sir your cousin is secured," Skirnir said as he parked the chariot next to him.
Annabeth looked stunned as she looked around in shock, "Magnus, what the hell was that?"
"A gift from my father," he said.
His cousin's face was bruised and bloodied but she still managed to give them both a hug. "I am sorry both of you. Magnus please forgive me for what I did and said," she said in a sob.
He smiled at his cousin as he and Percy hugged her, "Don't worry I forgive you. Lets focus on what we need to do now." He felt Annabeth hold onto him as if she were a scared child. He hugged her back and patted her. "Its alright we all make mistakes, I forgive you," he whispered.
Annabeth nodded as Blitz and Hearthstone helped her stand. "You guys heal here looks like we will have trouble."
"Samirah can you protect her?" He asked.
Samirah nodded, "I will do all that I can to protect her." He smiled and nodded at her as Samirah took Annabeth the shoulder to support her.
"Sir if I may," Skirnir said. He looked up at the elf who was pointing up at a portal behind him.. It was then that he noticed the portals were all over the place. "We elves serve you and your father, for now we are under your command."
He and Percy's jaws dropped as they watched a bunch of armored elves emerge from the portals. Its like something from Lord of the Rings. "Your father has been preparing for when we must aid you, although he cannot fight personally we also take commands from his children," Skirnir said as he pointed to a group of mounted elves.
He nodded as a well dressed elf approached him and bowed, "Lord what are your orders?" He looked at Skirnir and Chiron who both bowed. "Help us defeat Kronos and his minions, said a detachment of healers to tend to our wounded and my cousin here."
Skirnir and the elf nodded, "As you command Lord," they both said.
Skirnir and the elf captain shouted some commands and the elves cheered. "Chiron can you and Samirah help look after Annabeth while we fight the dragon? Also, message any campers you find that the elves are on our side."
Chiron nodded with a smile, "Of course Magnus."
He nodded and turned to Rachel, "Lead the medic unit to the wounded and let them know that they are on our side."
"Got it," Rachel said with a smile.
He then turned to Hearthstone, "Help me summon water for my friend," he signed. The elf nodded and wished him good luck.
He nodded as Skirnir and Chiron moved towards a safe location behind some elves who summoned lances and shields to protect them and the other nearby campers who were watching in shock and awe.
He watched as Ethan and Alex got up, both of them glaring at them. "Destroy them all!" Ethan yelled. Fafnir roared and took flight.
"Lets go Percy," he said as he activated his helmet. "Remember don't let the blood fall on you."
"Right man lets go," Percy said as he gripped Balmung. He and Hearthstone cast the runes at the same time and the area around them became flooded with water. "Thanks," Percy said as Fafnir lunged at them only to be hit with a wall of water.
The dragon roared as they both dodged its claws. Fafnir then spewed flames from his mouth at both of them but Percy managed to block it with more water causing steam to appear all around them. He looked at Hearthstone who nodded and they both cast another rune and summoned more water.
"Fafnir's flying is off and his wings look damaged. He must be having trouble flying here," Gram said.
He only nodded, Percy mentioned to him that various wind deities were protecting Manhattan. Hopefully they will be of help to us he thought as he swung Gram at Fafnir's leg. He made contact and he made a decent sized cut but overall it just made the dragon angrier.
He watched as Percy swung Balmung with little difficulty. Percy slashed at the dragon's leg which caused Fafnir to roar in pain. Fafnir attempted to slash at them with his giant claw but Percy willed the war to splash it in the face.
"Nice job Percy," he said as he avoided another claw.
"Thanks," Percy said as he blasted Fafnir in the face with a bunch of water.
Fafnir then attempted to take flight but a forceful wind was pressing up against him. Fafnir blew flames at the air just as Percy summoned the water to grab Fafnir by the legs and pull him down. Fafnir let out a roar as he was forced down by the wind. He fell with a thud and Magnus nearly lost his balance and fell.
Fafnir let out another roar before letting loose a blast of fire. This blast was more erratic than the last one and both he and Percy just dodged it as the flames spewed in the air. Fafnir got up and growled at the sky before turning to face both of them. He let out a roar as he slashed at Percy with his claw.
Percy managed to avoid the slash and sent a wave of water at Fafnir's face which just annoyed him. Magnus managed to get a slash on Fafnir's hind leg, he saw a bit of Fafnir's blood fall out as he slashed him. Fafnir let out a roar and turned to him with its mouth open.
"Uh oh kid run!" Gram said in his head.
He didn't need to be told twice he ran and managed to roll away from a blast of hot flames. He looked over and saw Chiron, Annabeth, and everyone else. Their faces were tense and anxious as they watched him and Percy fight Fafnir. He saw his cousin's eyes and saw fear and determination in them. However, he could also tell that she believed in him and Percy and he did not want to let her down.
"Gram lets do this," He said as he took a deep breath.
"Right on kid. Lets slay some dragon," Gram said
He turned to Percy, "Hey Percy how about we take this thing out by releasing the true power of our blades?"
Percy managed to avoid a blast of flame, "Sounds good. Balmung was just suggesting that to me in my head. But we should distract Fafnir first, can you get more water?"
"Ok on it," he said as he turned to Hearthstone and signed for him to summon water, a lot more. Hearthstone nodded and him and they both cast another rune to summon water. The area around them suddenly became filled with water to the point that it almost reached his knees.
He then watched as Percy willed the around them in a circular formation. Fafnir let out a roar and tried to fly into the air but the water was holding him down and the wind spirits were making it more difficult for him to fly up.
He then gripped Balmung and took a deep breath He felt the words come into his head as he pointed Gram at Fafnir and began chanting in Norse. He looked over at Percy who was chanting something as well and saw that Balmung was glowing bright blue. He focused on the words that came into this head. "Demonic blade, complete. Show me your pride, this is the dawn of destruction. Oh demonic blade of the sun unleash ruin Bolverk Gram!"
He felt the energy in his sword increase and glow brightly as he chanted what came into his head while the energy around him as the short swords he wore with the armor danced around in front of him. When he finished the incantation he felt as surge of energy in the sword. He aimed the sword at the middle of Fafnir's chest and released the energy.
At the same time he noticed a tall pillar of blue light from Percy's sword Balmung swing down on Fafnir. Both attacks well down on Fafnir who let out a loud roar. He closed his eyes at the bright light as he heard Fafnir scream in pain. When the screaming stopped he carefully opened up his eyes and saw Fafnir's dead body in the pool of water, the wound area around his chest was starting to bleed into the water.
"Percy stay back I'll get collect the blood," he yelled. Percy looked at him and nodded and willed the water away from him.
Magnus quickly took out the vial his father gave him. It had some sort of rune on it and when he was close enough to Fafnir's wound he opened it and placed it on it. The vial sucked up the blood as if it were a vacuum and for a while he feared it would fly out of his hands. After about a few minutes or so the vial managed to contain all of the blood. He capped the vial and got out the other box.
Here it goes he thought as he closed his eyes and plunged his arm into Fafnir's chest. Good their attacks made a clear way for his heart. He managed to find it and pull it out without vomiting. He quickly put the football sized heart inside of the case and turned to face Percy and everyone else.
"Well we did Percy," he said with a sigh.
"Yeah man but what will we do about the carcass?" Percy asked.
Chiron approached them, "Good job you two, as for the carcass if it doesn't disappear it can be used as material. If I remember correctly Fafnir's hide is very durable."
He nodded just as Annabeth ran up to him, "Guys that was amazing where did you guys get those swords?"
He exchanged a look with Percy and sighed, "Um lets just say for now that my dad helped me retrieve them."
Annabeth gave him a look but sighed, "I understand. But I am glad you are both safe."
Percy nodded, "Yeah and we are glad that you are better."
"For now at least," said a voice that sent shivers down his spine they all turned around and saw Luke, no Kronos approach them with Ethan and Alex by his sides both looking pissed off. Behind them was a large group of monsters.
"Kronos," Percy said as he gripped his sword.
Kronos laughed, "That was an unexpected battle. You may have taken out our little friend but do not think you have a chance to win. Soon I will reach my full strength and end you all." They all gripped their weapons as Kronos turned to face him. "Ah Magnus Chase, what a surprise. If you had stayed with your father you would have had a chance to live. Why must you insist on playing Greek?"
He felt Annabeth's eyes on him but he knew that she would eventually find out, "I may not be a Greek demigod by blood but Camp Half Blood is my home and I will not let you destroy it."
Kronos laughed, "Do not worry when I am done with Olympus I will march north and with some help your father's pantheon and civilization will fall."
"Like we would let you do that. We will stop you here," He said as he gripped Gram.
Kronos smiled at him, "Do you think you can stop me? Your elves are barely keeping my forces at bay."
It was then that they heard a sudden blast from the ground. They turned and saw a bunch of skeleton soldiers erupt from the group while Hades, Nico, Persephone, and Demeter appeared on a chariot. "Sorry father but I am afraid I cannot allow you to do that," Hades said as he gripped his sword.
Kronos growled at them, "Hades I will punish you for this. Attack!" He roared as his followers roared and charged at them.
"Guys get to Olympus," he said as he looked at Percy and Annabeth.
"What? We can't just leave you here," Percy said as they hacked at some monsters.
"Don't worry, this is your prophecy you must see it through Percy," he said.
Percy and Annabeth gave him a pained look and they both nodded, "Be careful," Percy said.
"I will," he said just as he blocked an attack from Ethan Nakamura. "Now go!"
He and Annabeth nodded as they ran towards the Empire State Building.
