As the doorbell rang, the door was opened by a tall man in a suit. "Welcome to the Vane/Mikaelson wedding," he greeted politely. "Are you here for the bride or the groom?"

"Groom," the young man replied. Then muttered under his breath, "unfortunately." Kol Mikaelson had arrived.

"Did you say something?" asked the doorman.

"No, no," Kol shook his head. "Not a thing!"

"Would you like me to take your coat so you can go have some refreshments?"

"Sure. Thank you!" He handed over his coat and then headed to the dining room where most of the snacks were laid out, standing around and sipping champagne before he heard a familiar voice call his name.

"Kol!"

He spotted Elijah and raised his glass when his brother reached him. "Great set up you got here. How much did you have to pay someone much more skilled than you to make it look this great?"

"It was all Selina, actually," Elijah told him. "Well, except the the jazz band." He frowned. "Why did you automatically assume I had no part in the look of this place?"

"Because everyone has better taste then you," Kol remarked with a smirk. "Selina included." Then he cleared his throat. "Nice to see you."

"Nice to see you too, brother," Elijah told him, too stung by his remark to be warm. "Can I just say how surprised I am that you actually decided to come?"

Kol shrugged. "Well, it was either be here, or be at home with sports on and eating hot wings."

"And somehow," Elijah winked, "our father's wedding won out. I just...over chicken wings? I don't understand how." He paused, light in his eyes as it hit him. "You were curious to see how all this would play out, weren't you?"

Kol shrugged. "Well, if he was just marrying some random demon woman, it wouldn't matter so much. Opposites attract, you know. But to see him marry the lovely Sybil Vane, before was married to our brother and had a child with him...well, I wouldn't miss it for the world!"

"And there it is," Elijah rolled his eyes and heaved a big sigh. "There's the Kol I know. You won't cause trouble, will you? I have a feeling I will have other problems without you adding to them."

"No," Kol shook his head. "I promise I won't cause trouble for you. But that doesn't mean I won't enjoy it if anyone else does."

"That's good enough," Elijah told him, one side of his mouth up. "I'll take it. It seems like my little brother has matured into a man!"

"I know it's shocking, but it appears that I have," Kol nodded. "How's Kayla?"

"She's good," Elijah nodded. Then he bit his lip on a smile before grinning like an idiot. "And Florence...Florence is..."

"An adorable baby girl, I know," Kol nodded, smiling too. "She stole my heart too. I hope you don't mind my taking Kayla under my wing. I don't want you to think that I'm corrupting your daughter."

"Well, first I wanted to kill you for exactly that reason, but then Selina calmed me down and helped me see the upside: at least you're someone I know and not some total stranger. And I know that as unpredictable as you can be, you would never intentionally hurt either Kayla or Florence, so...thank you for taking care of my daughter and granddaughter."

"You're welcome!" Kol nodded.

Then the doorbell rang yet again. "There's my cue," Elijah said. "Will you be okay here?"

"Oh, yes, go be host," Kol nodded. "I saw Lucifer and his cute wife around. I'll go talk to them and find something to eat. Don't worry about me." He waved Elijah away and headed to the dining room.

When the doorbell rang again, the doorman was otherwise occupied so Elijah took a chance and opened it. Then gasped and quickly tried to slam it closed again, but Klaus kept it open. "Brother!" He slurred. He clapped him on the shoulder with the hand that wasn't holding a nearly empty bottle of whiskey. "How's the party?" He looked around and whistled. "Look, you went all fancy for the wedding of your father and my ex!" He burped and took another drink while Amy and Natalie blushed behind him.

"Niklaus, you're drunk!" He yelled. Then he noticed a deeply blushing Amy and Natalie. "Hello, you two. Are you all right?"

"Yes," Amy nodded, although he could tell she was trying not to cry. "I'm so sorry to show up here like this. We tried to stop him, but..."

"Don't blame yourself," Elijah told her. "And you look lovely, as does Natalie."

Natalie, who had just put her coat aside, didn't hear the compliment. She was too busy glaring at Milo, who was approaching the table with a glass of wine in one hand, and a crab puff in the other.

"Don't worry," Elijah told Amy. "Are you all right? He hasn't hurt you, has he?" He knew that his brother was often belligerent when drunk.

"Yes, I'm fine, just a little frazzled," Amy assured him. "And I brought Natalie with me too. I hope you don't mind."

"No, of course not," Elijah shook his head. She was a little pale, even for her. It probably wouldn't hurt to get a drink or some food in her.

"Oh, and this reminds me that you slept with my wife too, Elijah!" Klaus shouted. "So Mikael is marrying Sybil, you went to bed with Amy...who's next? Who else wants to have a go at my women?"

"That's enough, Klaus!" the cry rang out from an unexpected quarter as a surprised Elijah watched Kol come and try to grab Klaus' arm. "Come on now, brother. We'll get a few coffees and some food in you and you'll be just as good as new. Or at least good enough to be polite company."

"Kol!" Klaus cried, throwing his arms around his brother's neck. "Good to see you, brother. Sorry to hear you got dumped. But isn't that always the way? Aren't we always getting dumped by whores?"

Kol opened his mouth, eying Amy because he knew full well Klaus was talking about her sister. But she just shook her head as tears fell down her cheeks.

Meanwhile, the pre-wedding party for the ladies had winded down and they were now beginning to come down and see everyone else, except for Sybil and Avery who was helping her dress.

"Do I want to know what's going on with Uncle Klaus?" Ricky asked Selina.

"It's what I was afraid of," Selina sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "I knew Klaus would cause trouble. But luckily, it looks like your father and your uncle have it all under control and I don't have to be involved.

Elijah was grabbing hold of Klaus' other arm as Klaus cried out desperately. "Let me go!" He cried, thrashing wildly. "Sybil, where are you?" He then broke free of his brothers' grips with one strong tug and began wandering toward the bedrooms, calling Sybil's name.

"Shit!" Elijah swore and ran his fingers through his hair. "That didn't go well."

"Do you need help?" Arthur asked.

"From you?" Elijah asked in surprise. "Don't take this the wrong way, because it's a generous offer, but I don't think there's much you could do. When Klaus gets like this, it won't get better any time soon."

"Well, once we get to that point, I'll help too," Malachai offered. "Looks like you need all the muscle you can get."

Meanwhile, Kol went and put a hand around Amy's shoulders. "Are you all right?" He asked. "I didn't want you to think we forgot about you."

"Th-thank you," Amy sniffled. "I think I'll be all right. I just need some air, that's all."

"All right, I'll come with you. Just in case." He took her arm, then called out to Natalie. "I'm going to take your mother out for some air. Will you be all right, darling?"

"I'll be fine," Natalie assured him as she wrapped her arms around herself and stayed still. "Thank you for taking care of my mother."

As soon as her mother and uncle were gone, she heard a voice. "Hello, sweetheart. Are you all right?" She turned and there was Ellie, looking at her with concern.

"Well, hello, Mrs. Morningstar," Natalie greeted.

"It seems like you need a distraction," Ellie decided. "So come with me, we'll get you a drink, and you can tell me where you got that dress you're wearing. It's lovely."

As they got their drinks, Selina got on stage and got the microphone from the singer to speak to the crowd. "Well, hello, everyone! What's a Mikaelson family wedding without a little entertainment, right?"

The crowd cheered and clapped appreciatively.

"So until the rest of the guests arrive, please continue to enjoy the food, the music, and the drinks like I know you are. I know I am!" She grinned at the continuing cheers.

As Selina handled the crowd, Elijah reluctantly approached Lucifer. "I'm gonna go look for my father," he said. "As long as you're here, you might as well make yourself useful and go watch out for guests at the door."

"Of course," Lucifer nodded. "Go find your father." And as Elijah headed off in the direction of his office, where he assumed his father had gone, Lucifer smirked at Ellie, who was nearby. "See?" he said. "Told you I would be needed!"

"Yes," Ellie nodded, rolling her eyes and giving him a kiss. "They're very lucky you forced your way in here."

"Yes," Lucifer nodded. "Yes they are!"

"Okay," Avery clicked her tongue. "Make up is done, hair is done...do you need help with your dress, Sybil?"

Tears of joy filled Sybil's eyes. "I can't believe I'm carrying twins and marrying Mikael!"

"I can," Avery grinned as she took the dress off the hook.

"Thank you," Sybil smiled. "Thank you for whatever prayer you made to heaven that helped me realize Mikael was the man for me."

Avery blushed. "You don't have to thank me. It's my pleasure, really."

"A pink dress? Really?" Came a voice that made Sybil's blood run cold. "Although I guess white wouldn't really be apropos, now would it?"

They both looked up to see a grinning Klaus leaning against the doorframe.

Sybil paled and slowly rose to her feet, tightening the belt of her robe just a little. "Avery, would you give me a minute alone with Klaus, please?"

"Are you sure?" Avery asked her skeptically. "You don't look well and he doesn't look sane."

"Of course," Sybil swallowed. "Me and Klaus are friends and we share a son together. It'll be just fine," she got out, knowing that the man she was looking at wasn't himself at all. "Isn't that so, Klaus?"

"If you say so," Avery told her when it was clear she wasn't going to change her mind. "I'll be back in five minutes to help you with your dress, okay?" She then gave her a smile and left both her and Klaus alone.

"So you'll marry him?" Klaus asked once the door was closed. He then raised the bottle of whiskey to his lips and took a sip.

Sybil kept her eyes on him and raised her chin. "Yes, I will marry Mikael. It has nothing to do with you, or me, or how we used to be, or the fact that we're friends now. It's about my story with Mikael. My life with him."

"But I still don't understand why you want to," Klaus told her. "After all I've said about how he treated me. How could you want to have a life with him and share his bed?" Klaus showed his teeth and put the bottle of whiskey down on the dresser.

"I'm sorry if this is hurting you, but there's no easy answer, Klaus!" Sybil said. "Life isn't all black and white like you think it is." She moved her hand to her belly to rub it, a gesture Klaus caught. "I would never condone anything Mikael did to you, and I know those issues still run deep, but I would appreciate it if you would keep me out of them."

"No!" Klaus howled. "Don't tell me you're pregnant!"

"I am," she nodded proudly. "Carrying twins and happy about it!"

He grabbed either side of his head with his hands. "Well, I understand the rushed marriage now. But why didn't you come to me? You don't have to marry a man just because you're carrying his bastard children!"

Sybil put her hands on her hips. "I beg your pardon, Klaus, but these are my babies too! I'm not marrying or staying with Mikael purely because of the children. I'm marrying him because we're madly in love!"

Klaus heard her confession and went pale. "No...no! I don't believe it!"

"That's your problem, not mine!"

"I won't let you marry him," Klaus said firmly, advancing on her. "I won't!" He shook his head stubbornly.

Sybil sat back down on the velvet chair, holding her ground. "Not even you, Klaus Mikaelson, will be able to stop me from marrying the man who makes my heart beat faster. This wedding will go on whether you like it or not. End of story. Now, please go away."

"Well, what was the ruckus that just happened?" Mikael demanded. "Just now, I mean."

"Niklaus came," Elijah told him. "And Amy and Natalie too. My brother was drunk-"

"He's not your brother," Mikael hissed. Ignoring that fact helped him. "He's just the mutt I was tricked into raising-"

"Regardless," Elijah interrupted as he watched his father fumble with his tie, swearing under his breath. "Here, let me do that." As he tied his father's tie. "So he came and he was drunk and he said he wanted to see Sybil."

Mikael's eyes widened. "And you let him? Why are you just telling me this now? Why are we here messing with this nonsense when we should be protecting my fiancee?"

"I'm sure she isn't entirely helpless," Elijah reminded him. "She is a demon, after all."

"Well, if not her, my children then," Mikael corrected.

"I'm telling you now because it just happened now," Elijah told him as his father fidgeted, clearly desperate to check on Sybil as he grabbed his blazer and did up the buttons.

"What does he want with her? If he puts a finger on her, I'll kill him with my bare hands!"

"Who knows?" Elijah shrugged helplessly. "It might be that he still has lingering feelings for her."

"Lingering feelings?" Mikael repeated. "His face will have lingering feelings after I punch it!"

"Please don't be like that, Father," Elijah pleaded. "I know this is upsetting, but could you try and be the adult? We have enough trouble with what Klaus is causing."

"He has a beautiful wife in that Amy," Mikael said. "And I thought he loved her. Why would he interfere with Sybil and I like this?"

"I still think he does love Amy, but he has enough friendly concern for Sybil that, based on how you treated him, he's afraid for her welfare or has other reasons only he knows about why he doesn't want her to marry you." Elijah shrugged. "And just why did you invite him anyway?"

Mikael looked like he'd eaten something sour. "It certainly wasn't my decision to let him anywhere near this wedding! That was all Sybil! She thought it would be a good way to help put the past behind us, but-" He sighed and shook his head. "I love her and she is a wonderful woman, but she doesn't understand that some things just can't be changed!" He strode over to the closed office door and opened it.

"Where are you going now?" Elijah asked.

"To find my fiancee and save her from the damage Niklaus will do!" Mikael said, acknowledging several guests as they made their way to the bedroom where Sybil was.

"Damn it," Selina muttered, biting her nail as she approached her father-in-law. "I see that you're on a mission, but...where are you going?"

"To see my fiancee," Mikael said firmly. "Tell me what bedroom she's in."

"I'm not sure that's a good idea," Selina said. "I mean, not that I don't understand your worries, but...I truly think Sybil can handle Klaus."

"Selina, with all due respect-"

"Nice to see there is some," Selina told her father-in-law. "Do you want to have a drink and discuss it?"

"No, I want to find my fiancee!"

Selina's big blue eyes were wide. "Elijah, I don't seem to be doing much good here. A little help, please?"

Elijah raised an eyebrow. "What do you think I can do that you can't? If he wants to see his fiancee, he's entitled to, and there's nothing we can do to stop it!"

Mikael scoffed. "Never mind, you two are useless. I'll find Sybil on my own!"

He stormed off in the direction of the bedrooms and Selina threw her arms around her husband, resting her head on his shoulder. "After he's done, we're gonna have a funeral along with the wedding," she remarked.

"Well, at least the cake you made could work for either one," Elijah told her with a smile, which quickly went away as she frowned. "I know, I know. Not funny. I was just trying to lighten the mood."

As her father caused chaos all over the party, Natalie stood in the corner, chugging sparkling water and stuffing her face with canapes to stop herself from crying. Everyone was staring at her, she knew. Everyone thought of her as the daughter of the man who was ruining the party. She thought escaping Ellie would make things better, but it didn't.

"Hey!"

Natalie growled and rolled her eyes to the ceiling. "Before you say another word, Morningstar, I'm gonna have to get a glass of something stronger than water." She then looked at him and saw that he was gaping just a little. "And would you stop looking at me like that? It's not like you've never seen me before! Did you come to gloat? Tell me I'm as bad as my father?"

"Well, hello, Milo," he said, imitating her with a high voice. "Lovely to see you. You look very sexy in your suit!" He paused as she looked at him like she'd swallowed a lemon. "No, I didn't come to gloat." He shrugged. "I know what's going on and I bet it sucks. I saw you here by yourself and I wanted to...to see if you needed anything and to tell you that...you shouldn't feel bad about what your father's doing. None of it is your fault."

She looked him over, from his perfectly styled black hair (which she often thought about running her fingers through) to his silk shirt, black trousers, and tie. And shiny shoes, of course. Even though she'd never admit it out loud, he looked very handsome.

And he looked her over too, taking a fistful of skirt in his hand. "Where did you find this?" He asked, dumbstruck. "I almost didn't recognize you, ugly duckling you are, in this beautiful dress!" He smiled as he slowly ran a finger down the black fabric.

She pushed him away. "Don't touch me, Morningstar! And don't touch my mother's dress, either!"

He nodded, a grin on his lips as he took another sip of wine. "I should have known this was your mother's." he got close to her, his lips on her ear. "But tell me, do you have lace underwear on underneath it, like you did the other day?"

"Get away from me!" She yelled, giving him a forceful enough push that he stumbled backward and some wine sloshed onto his shirt.

"You bitch!" He yelled, looking at the stain. "This is silk!"

"I knew you didn't mean all the nice things you said about me!" She yelled. "I knew they were all a lie! You don't give a shit about me!"

"Of course I don't care about you in the slightest, Mikaelson," he nodded, grabbing a napkin and trying desperately to blot out the red wine stain. "I don't even know why I tried to be nice to you at all!"

"Oh, look at that horrible, ugly stain on your shirt," she cooed, getting close to him. "Here, let me help!" And with that, her whole glass of sparkling water splashed onto his shirt before she stalked away, not even able to glory in his shocked look.

There was some awkward silence and then the other guests began talking again, some of them keeping their eyes on Milo as they grinned and laughed.

"Well?" Ellie asked Lucifer after witnessing the scene. "Are you going to stand there like a statue, or are you going to go talk with your son? That poor Natalie is going through enough right now and I hate to think of Milo making it worse."

"Yes, as a matter of fact," Lucifer told her, light in his eyes. "I'm going to stay right here. And do you know why?"

Ellie rolled her eyes. "Please enlighten me."

"Because they're crazy about each other," he replied and booped her nose. "And I'm not going to get in the way of love. Now...I see a large door nearby. I'll go look and if it's a bedroom, would you like us to excuse ourselves for a while and-"

"No!" Ellie shook her head. "It's enough that you crashed this wedding. We're not having sex in their beds too."

"We'll you're in a crabby mood," Lucifer remarked. "You know what helps that? Sex!"

"Fine," Ellie crossed her arms. "If you don't say another word about it here, when we get home, we'll head to bed and lock the door."

"That's fair," Lucifer nodded, putting some fingers under her chin to bring her face up and kiss her lips gently before running his hands down her back and squeezing her bottom. "Works for me."

When the doorbell rang, Lucifer pried himself away from Ellie, grabbed the list, and headed to answer it. "No worries!" He shouted, just in case someone would try and stop him. "I am the watcher of the doorbell. I have the list. Everything is under control! Have no fear, Lucifer Morningstar is here!"

Ellie blushed and squeezed her eyes closed. "I don't think I could be any more embarrassed if I tried."

"What's my brother up to now?" Avery asked, throwing her arm around her sister in law. She was trying very hard not to laugh, grabbing another glass of champagne as a tray passed by. "Think about it this way: At least he's making himself useful!"

"But he's still acting like rooster in a barn!" Ellie pointed out. "I mean, look at him. Needing to be the boss of everything!"

Lucifer had just opened the door to another guest, Elijah's sister, Anna. "Welcome to the Vane-Mikaelson wedding," he greeted. "Or whatever you want to call it until we all kill each other. Your name, please?"

"Are you kidding me?" She asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked over the list. "Anna!"

"Anna...I don't see any Anna on this list," Lucifer shook his head. "Anna who?"

"Mi-kael-son!" She shouted at him, breaking it up and saying each syllable slowly.

"Oh, yes, I see now," Lucifer nodded. "Are you with the groom or the bride?"

"Were you hit on the head very hard recently or do you have to work to be this stupid?" Anna asked impatiently. "What sort of stupid question is that? Let me in, Lucifer!"

"Okay, okay, you're on the list," he relented. "You can come in! But I have my eye on you!"

"Thank you for nothing," she said, rolling her eyes and giving him a shove with her shoulder as she came through the door.

"I got it," Lucifer shouted when the doorbell rang yet again, as though he thought someone would stop him. He grinned down at the list without looking up as he opened the door. "Welcome to the Mikaelson-Vane wedding," he said. "Your names, please?"

"Which one would you like?" Steve asked, arms crossed. "Steve, God, Dad...I could come up with more."

"And Gwen," she added. "Your aunt, from Heaven...although I don't remember ever actually being there."

"You'll like it," Steve told her. "It's lovely."

"How nice," Gwen smiled before turning back to glare at her nephew, her chin raised.

"Thank you for telling me your names," Lucifer replied, his lip going up on one side. "Now let's see if you're on the list."

"I bet you're not!" Steve told him. "In fact, I know you aren't. That was some sneaky maneuver you pulled."

"And I bet you're not on the list either," Lucifer told him. "So will you say you're with the groom or the bride?"

"Neither," they replied together.

"Yes, well, here you are," Lucifer told them. "But you don't seem to be on the list either. I should investigate that so this wedding isn't full of unwelcome interlopers."

"Yes, I suppose they met the quota for that when you arrived, didn't they?" Steve drawled.

"Okay, Lucifer, I can't take this anymore," she said, pushing him out of the way of the door with her hip and taking his list. "That's enough. You've abused the privilege. I think I should take over."

"Hey, I was looking at that," he scolded and then gave her a very obvious spanking before stomping off.

Trying not to wince, Ellie gave Steve and Gwen a smile. "I'm sorry for him. He's taking his duties much too seriously. Please come in and get yourselves a drink. And they have some lovely, tasty appetizers."

"Well, it's nice that they're making him be useful," Gwen smirked. "What's next? Washing dishes?"

She and Steve burst out laughing as she hung up her coat. "That's good, dear," he chuckled. "That's very good!"

When he realized that they were making fun of him, Lucifer stomped back to the group. "Yes, yes, it's just marvelous to have a chuckle at my expense, isn't it? Why don't you go mingle?" He then turned to Ellie and saw she was laughing also. "I can't believe you find their nonsense amusing, Eleanor!"

"Oh, honey, come on! It's just a joke."

"This is what I get for trying to help?" He sighed and threw his hands up in the air. "Just perfect."

"Honey, I'm sorry," she called after him.

"Yes," he sighed, narrowing his eyes at her. "Sure you are."

"Here," Arthur said as he offered Gabrielle a glass of gin. "I don't know how much you've drunk already, but one more can't hurt, all things considering. I thought you might like something other than champagne by now."

"Well, thank you!" Gabrielle took it from him and downed several gulps before coming up for air. "That's very considerate of you."

Arthur shrugged. "It's nothing. But a guy can read a room, you know. And something tells me things would have been more peaceful back on the trail." He gave her a wink.

"Gee, you think?" Gabrielle said sarcastically and wiped off her mouth.

"I know it's an unfortunate situation, but I have to thank Klaus for being such a good distraction. Now everyone is worrying about him and no one is looking at me like I'm the outcast ugly stepson who shouldn't have been invited."

"Speaking of...have you said 'Hello' to your mother yet?" Gabrielle asked. "Or did you avoid her and come straight to me?"

"I can't believe you have to ask that question," he told her, taking her hand and kissing it. "You're much better company." He paused. "Did you? Say hello to her, I mean? Or are you avoiding her like me?"

"Of course I spoke to your mother," Gabrielle assured him. "We had a drink with Sybil because of all this and I think we're on our way to becoming friends again."

He snorted into his drink and grinned at her. "Look at that! I'm happy for you. But you can tell me honestly: how much did it cost you?"

Gabrielle frowned and stomped her foot. "What sort of stupid question is that? It didn't cost me anything. I just have to remember not to lie to her again."

"All right, my Gabrielle. But I would love to see how long you're able to keep that promise. It's natural for us supernatural creatures to lie and stab each other in the back. I mean, look at Klaus. You can try to be good, but it doesn't last."

"Here you go again," Gabrielle rolled her eyes. "Why are you always seeing the worst in people?"

"Because I'm realistic!" He cried, wincing and shrugging.

"Well, go see her," Gabrielle urged. "She could really need you."

Arthur scoffed. "She couldn't care less if I'm here or not!"

"If it's true, it's probably because you never showed her any love either," Gabrielle chided.

Arthur put his hands on his hips. "Why would I show love to a woman who abandoned me?"

"Because," Gabrielle told him as she handed him her empty glass. "You should be the bigger person. Don't you want to show her what a big mistake she made leaving you how she did? Show her the best side of yourself. I know its in there." She then turned and walked away from him.

In the kitchen, Selina and Elijah were wondering what the next course of action would be.

"What the hell happened with great-uncle Klaus?" A dumbstruck Lucas asked as he wandered in.

"Yeah," added Kayla, who was on his heels. "He's acting like he's gonna destroy the farm and kill everyone. And just FYI, he's with Sybil now."

"So this isn't normal behavior for him?" Remiel wanted to clarify.

"Not all the time," Ricky told her. "I mean, maybe once a week," he chuckled to himself. "But not every day."

"We don't know what's going on with him but we're hoping for the best," Elijah said as he tried not to show he was more worried than everyone else. "Hopefully my father will be able to handle him. With words, of course. We don't need any more violence today."

"In the state he's in, do you truly think words will help?" Arthur asked, yet another person squeezing into the kitchen.

"Arthur!" Selina cried. "You're here! I'm so sorry I didn't come greet you earlier but I thought you would come with Gabrielle so we'd see each other eventually."

"Does it bother you that I'm here with the rest of the family?" Arthur asked, his hands buried deep in his trouser pockets.

"Of course not, you're my son!" Selina said. "Why would it bother me?"

"You're Arthur?" Kayla asked, her eyes lighting up. "Hi, I'm Kayla!" She grabbed his hand and shook it enthusiastically.

"H-hi," Arthur got out, more than a little uncomfortable. He'd always wanted more than anything to be part of his mother's family, but now that it seemed to be happening, it was a little overwhelming.

"And this is Remiel, Ricky, and Lucas," Kayla said as she continued to present him.

"Hi," Arthur nodded, now even more uncomfortable.

"I saw you out riding earlier. Did you enjoy yourself?" Ricky asked.

"Yeah," Arthur nodded. "It's amazing riding in the valley!"

Elijah was watching this exchange and waiting for it to end, his face expressionless. "So," he said at last. "Do you have any ideas about my brother, Arthur? What do you think we should do?"

Arthur turned to stare in surprise at the fact that the man he'd always considered the enemy was actually asking for his help. "Well, my dear Elijah, I suggest we go be backup for Sybil and Mikael before your brother kills everyone." He paused. "That is, you should, unless my mother doesn't mind my help."

Selina swallowed and cleared her throat. "Of course. In situations like this, every pair of hands we can get is appreciated."

"I have to agree," Malachai said. "My friend Mikael is strong, but I don't think even he could hold an angry Klaus off forever in a closed bedroom."

"It's settled then," Arthur nodded, raising his eyes and seeing Gabrielle smiling at him. "Let's go and not waste another minute, shall we?"

Tears streaming down her cheeks, Amy ran for the barn, throwing open the door and heading in with Kol Mikaelson on her heels. He entered and shut the barn doors behind both of them.

Amy was pacing back and forth, sobbing and panicking as tears rolled down her face, neck, and neckline. She brought up her hand to her chest and Kol discovered as she turned that her red and pink dress had no back on it, something that had him reaching for his coat

Amy tried to catch a breath as she felt it settle over her shoulders and back.

"There," he told her. "Hopefully that will warm you up a little." He put hands on her shoulders. "It's getting chilly. I wouldn't want you to get pneumonia if I can prevent it."

"T-thank you," Amy said. "I left mine back at the house when I came out here, and-"

"No need to explain, no need to worry," Kol told her. "That's why I gave you mine."

"That's very gentlemanly, but...what about you? Don't you freeze because of me!" She said and looked at her rescuer. Since he'd been married to her sister all these years, she'd never really looked at him closely, but as she did now, he seemed to have matured. Become more of a man. And even...hurt more by life. Poor man, if that was possible.

He had a chuckle at her expense. "Oh, dear Amy. That's very sweet of you, but I'm a vampire and we have ice in our veins. There's no way I'll freeze." He shrugged, unaffected.

Amy scoffed. Well, if he'd changed, it apparently hadn't been much. He'd always been the one who never gave a fuck about anything, Maybe she should learn a trick or two from him so there wouldn't ever again be a time where she was in a barn sobbing like an idiot because she cared too much!

"About that dress," he grinned and took her hand. "You wanna tell me who you plan on seducing tonight?"

She blushed and averted her eyes. "Thanks for noticing. It's certainly not my husband, who's pining away for his ex!"

"Does it surprise you?" Kol asked. "It shouldn't. How many years now have you known my brother? How many times have you broken up and gotten back together?"

The directness of his question made her blush and avert her eyes. She moved away and began petting one of the horses, which gave her some welcome air. For some reason, being around Kol Mikaelson was making her uncharacteristically warm. "I can't believe you're blaming me," she told him. "I can't believe you think this is my fault!"

"I'm not saying that at all, Amy," Kol shook his head and came to join her. "No one is responsible for Klaus' behavior besides him. Least of all you. This is a beautiful animal, isn't it?"

"I would love to be more like you," she said to him. "Lose and carefree, and like I don't give a-" She stopped short, unable to get the words out.

"You want to be able to act like you don't give a fuck?" He asked knowingly. "Okay. Then be like that."

"I can't," she shook her head. "We just had a daughter. It's not responsible!"

"Isn't it the easiest thing in the world to make a baby though?" He shrugged. "Just bing bang boom and...baby!"

"Did...did my sister do this to you?" She asked, horrified. "Did she make you so insensitive?"

"What?" Kol asked, wide-eyed. "No, no, Amy...we just grew apart after Vicky died. We grew apart and she fell in love with a warlock. I'm happy for her, believe it or not. There's no bad blood between us at all and we're ecstatic Vicky is back on Earth." He paused. "You know I have the highest respect for all witches."

"How insensitive of me not to ask you about Vicky," Amy said, putting a hand over her mouth and sobbing.

"Here we go again," Kol said, putting his arms around her and letting her sob. "Go ahead and cry, little witch. It's good for you." He said this as he stroked her hair and sniffed her neck. "You smell very good, by the way."

"Thank you," she sniffled and looked at the dark spot on his coat. "Sorry. I'm ruining your expensive coat!"

"I don't give a fuck about my blazer," he told her. "You go ahead and cry all you have to for my stupid brother!" He chuckled.

"Why are you laughing?" Amy asked, looking up at him. "It's not funny!"

"Well, it's funny to see you cry for a man who doesn't deserve it!" He took her chin in his hands, making it so her eyes would meet his. "Look at you...you're beautiful, sexy, powerful. And he's a fool for not seeing that."

"Thank you," Amy told him, sniffling and wiping her eyes before they moved down to his very nice lips.

"Are you looking at my lips, Amy?" Kol asked with a smirk.

"Are you always so blunt?" She returned.

"Yeah, pretty much," he shrugged. "I know some of my family prefer to be able to fit into polite society but that's never been my aim. I pretty much do whatever I want."

He took a few steps closer as she gasped and moved a strand of red hair out of her eyes. "And just what do you want now?" She murmured.

"This," he said and she flinched for a moment, thinking he was gonna grab her, but he just put his hands gently on her shoulders and gave her the gentlest kiss on the lips that, as brief as it was, still sent shivers down her spine. Then he pulled away. "You don't have anything to fear from me," he said with a salute. "I just wanted to remind you that you deserve better, that's all."

Amy froze and broke the kiss. She stared in his eyes for several seconds and then crashed her lips on his again.

He let out a growl and pushed her against the barn wall as his jacket fell off her shoulders onto the barn floor. Then he moved his lips to her neck, making her moan. She shut her eyes, wondering what the hell she was doing. Why she was enjoying this. Finally, she opened her eyes and pushed him away.

"I'm...I'm sorry," she said. "That shouldn't have happened."

"If you say so," he said, shrugging and giving her another heart melting smile before watching her leave the barn and run back to the house. "But I know better."

"So that's how this is going to go then?" Sybil asked, trying not to sound too nervous. She wasn't terrified for herself, but she was unsure about what effect this was having on the babies. She crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes, trying to look at least a little intimidating. "You're just going to keep me locked in this room forever?"

"Not forever," Klaus shook his head. "I'm no monster. Just until you regain your senses!"

"Or until Mikael comes here and lets me out because you know he will!" Sybil spat. "This is a pretty stupid plan. You did it when he was in the same building and could pretty easily figure out where I am to come rescue me. And so what if we don't get married today? It doesn't matter how long it takes! I'll marry him today, tomorrow, next week...or even in a century if that's how long it is! And I don't need a fancy wedding. We can sign papers at the Council and be done with it!"

"Yes but why?" Klaus cried, arms out. "That's what I don't understand."

"And you don't need to because it's none of your damn business, is it?" Sybil spat. "It's none of your business that he makes me happy; that he treats me like I'm the most precious thing on Earth; and that when we're together, nothing matters but the two of us."

"That's absolute nonsense," Klaus shook his head. "Mikael is incapable of feeling things like that for anyone!"

"Well, that's your opinion, not mine!" She cried, tears of frustration rolling down her cheeks. "I love him more than life itself!"

"I love you too, my darling. More than you could ever imagine."

At the sound of the voice, they both turned and saw Mikael standing in the doorway. "Niklaus, get the hell away from my fiancee." His words were calm but the way he held himself said 'danger'. "I think you should decide how you're going to behave right now because if you continue to cause trouble I will not hesitate to have you thrown out of this farmhouse."

"Well, apparently you forget that this is Elijah and Selina's house, not yours, thus you have no power over who gets thrown out and who doesn't, Mikael!" Klaus shot back.

Sybil stood up on shaking legs, keeping her eyes on her fiance. He seemed calm but she recognized the look in his eyes. And as he removed his blazer, she thought to herself that if she had any feelings left for Klaus, she would tell him to run before things got ugly.

"Darling, feel free to leave the bedroom now," he said, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt. "No use staying here if you don't need to."

"Mikael, no," she shook her head. "Don't do this, please! Especially not for me!"

"Now, darling!" He ordered with a little more force.

"See what your knight in shining armor is about to do to me?" Klaus asked, smirking. "Slaughter me like the animal that he is."

"The one who is acting like an animal is you, Niklaus," Mikael told him. "Did you ever take one second to think of your wife? To think of Amy?" Why think of her when you could be terrorizing a pregnant woman!"

Klaus flinched."She'll be fine; she knows me."

"She does, poor woman," Mikael nodded. "I'm surprised she hasn't left you yet."

"Think of Amy, Klaus," Sybil encouraged. "Go to her. She must have a head full of thoughts about you and me that aren't true! Think of our son, Christopher. Think of your new daughter, Natalie."

Klaus flinched and they could tell that her words had affected him but he was too far gone to change course by now.

Mikael gently grabbed Sybil's arm and gently ushered her out of the room, just in time for Klaus to let out a growl and spring on him. Mikael moved aside just in time to avoid his fist.

"Help!" Sybil yelled as she ran through the halls. "Help!"

Not long after, Malachai, Arthur, and Elijah bounded into the bedroom to pull Mikael and Klaus apart.

"Wow!" Arthur cried. "My god! That's enough!" He watched wide-eyed as Malachai grabbed Mikael and Elijah grabbed his brother.

"Let me go, Elijah!" Klaus cried as he struggled against his brother's tight grip.

"All right, I will," Elijah agreed. "Once we get outside my house!" Elijah told him. "And you better not come back!"

"You're throwing me out?" Klaus asked, dumbfounded.

"Yes, until you grow up and regain your sense of dignity!" Elijah nodded, pulling him out of the bedroom and down the corridor.

Klaus passed by Sybil and Selina, the vampire pulling the tall demon into her arms.

"You're making a mistake!" Klaus cried, eyes crazy as Sybil's eyes met his. Then he left and Selina let Sybil bury her face in her neck.

"Are you okay?" Malachai asked Mikael as they left the room.

"Yes, yes," Mikael assured him. "You can let me go."

Malachai did at the same time Selina let go of Sybil and they jumped into each other's arms.

"It's okay," Mikael assured Sybil as he kissed her face and hair. "It's okay. I'm fine, don't cry!"

"I was so scared!" She shared and held him as hard as she could.

"I'm fine," he assured her. We'll be fine." He kissed her forehead.

Arthur reached out and took Selina's hand. "That was a close call, wasn't it?"

"When Klaus is like that, there's not much that we can do," Selina shrugged. "Thank you for your help, Arthur."

"You're welcome," he told her, blushing and feeling that discomfort again as he avoided his mother's eyes. "It was my pleasure to help. Who am I to stand in the way of true love?"
