Chapter 54: Drew Is 18!
It's the first week of June. Meaning that it's the last week of school. The gang's all together in front of school before school starts.
"Guys! Last week of school!" Dawn said excitedly.
"Yeah. And it's not just the last week of this school year, but it's the end of high school completely." Gary said.
"What are you guys excited for the most after school is done?" Misty asked.
"Well...I will become Queen." May said. "And you guys will have front row seats at the coronation."
"Ooh yay!" Dawn said excitedly. "When's the coronation?"
"The last Friday of this month." May answered.
"And when is your wedding?" Misty asked.
"The same day." Drew answered for May.
"The same day?!" The entire gang minus May, Drew, and Kiara yelled.
May giggled at their reactions. "We decided that they should be on the same day. We'll get crowned and then married which will make it the best day ever." She said, glancing at Drew.
Drew glanced at May and then he looked back at the gang. "We figure that it makes the most sense to do that."
"I guess I can see that…" Dawn said.
"Well, we can't wait." Gary said.
The last week of school flew by quickly. It's now Drew's birthday which is on the day after the last day of school. Graduation is next week too, and the gang all got their graduation caps and gowns during this week. For now...it's time to celebrate Drew's 18th birthday.
May rang the doorbell to the mansion. She and Kiara just arrived at Drew's place for his birthday. They each have a present in their hands and May also has her guitar in its case. The door to the mansion opened.
"Hi, Drew." Kiara said.
"Hi, girls. Enter." Drew said, stepping to the side. May and Kiara entered the huge mansion. Drew closed the door behind them.
"So, is the rest of the gang here?" May asked.
"Nope. Not yet." Drew said. He started leading the two Princesses somewhere.
"Are we the first?"
"Yep."
"Well, that's good." Kiara said. "We got here early like May wanted. She kept telling me once I woke up how much we just had to be the first ones here."
May blushed in embarrassment. "Kiara!"
Drew smirked. "So, why did you want to be the first one here, June?"
May furrowed her eyebrows. "It's May. And I wanted to be the first one, because...we're together after all. If I wasn't the first one at my fiancé's birthday party…"
"Yeah. Makes sense." Drew said. "Well, here we are." He opened a door and they all walked into his giant bedroom. "Since it'll only be the gang and my parents, we'll just have the party in here."
"It's a big room, so we understand that." Kiara said.
"Make yourselves at home." Drew said, closing the door behind them.
May walked to Drew's bed and set her guitar case down next to it. "Where should we put your presents?"
Drew walked to the center of his room and looked around. "Back table." He said, signaling with his head.
May and Kiara walked to the back of the room, setting their presents on the table. May turned around and walked to Drew.
"You two came an hour early." Drew said. He smirked. "You really couldn't wait, huh?"
May furrowed her eyebrows. "Hey! I just want to celebrate my fiancé's birthday with him! Is that so wrong of me?!"
Drew chuckled. His gaze moved to May's guitar case. He smiled and then looked back at May, knowing that she definitely plans on singing a song for him later.
The gang all came and the small birthday party for Drew has been going on. They've all played games, laughed, talked, ate cake, and Drew opened the majority of his presents. The last present is from May.
Drew lifted up the last wrapped present and he stared down at it. "Wait." May said. Drew looked at her. She smiled. "The second present should always be opened after the first."
Drew smirked. "And what's the first?"
May walked over to Drew's bed and lifted up her guitar case, placing it on the bed. She opened the case and took out her guitar. She put it on her and looked at Drew. "I have a song to sing."
Drew smiled and put the present back down on the table. Everyone turned to look at May. May started strumming a beat on her pink guitar.
(This song is "Favorite Place To Be" from The Lodge.)
"You know I've spent some nights basking in the light of million shooting stars." May sang as she walked towards Drew. "You know I've made some hearts in an old tree bark, but I've forgotten where they are." Drew started walking to May.
"I saw the river run to where the current's done." May continued. "It's not the same with just anyone." May and Drew stopped in the center of the room and they stared into each other's eyes. "I saw the blue moon rise with my very eyes. And you weren't there and I realized. That wherever you're with me is my favorite place to be."
"On the sunny days, I can find my way, walking through our memories." May sang as she slowly started walking around Drew in a circle and he spun, watching her every move. "When the sky's all dark and the rain falls hard, you know it's still alright with me. Cause when the wind blows strong, I know that I belong. Where you left off is where I carry on." May stopped in front of Drew and looked up into his eyes. "I looked up and to my surprise, you were there and I realized. That wherever you're with me is my favorite place to be."
"All we need is the air we breathe." May sang. "The big blue sky above, the ground beneath our feet. All we need is to never leave. Cause me and you and you and me. My favorite place to be."
"You know I've spent some nights basking in the light of a million shooting stars." May continued. "They could all go out but when you come around, we're still shining in the dark. Cause we might be right and we might be wrong. All I know is that you belong. I looked up and to my surprise, you were there and I realized. That wherever you're with me is my favorite place to be." She sang, finishing the song.
The gang all clapped for May. May and Drew continue staring into each other's eyes.
"You were...amazing." Drew said.
May blushed and smiled. "Thanks."
Without any hesitation, Drew leaned in and placed a quick kiss on May's cheek. Once he backed away, he smiled at May's red face. He then turned around and walked back to the table.
May walked to Drew's bed and put the guitar in its case, closing it. She then ran across the room to stand next to Drew at the table. All eyes were on Drew.
"Ooh. I wonder what it is." Dawn said.
"We'll find out soon." Kiara said. "She didn't even let me see what it is."
Drew stared down at the small present that's in his hands. He looked next to him at May.
"You'll love it." May said.
Drew looked at the present and tore the wrapping paper off of it, revealing a black box. He took the lid off and stared at what was inside. What he pulled out of the box was a Pokéball. He turned around, showing the gang.
"Did you really receive a Pokémon?" Ash asked.
Drew looked at May. "I wasn't expecting this."
May smiled. "I think this Pokémon will come in handy for 'King Drew'."
"Wow. Really?"
May nodded. "See what Pokémon it is."
Drew faced forward and tossed the Pokéball in the air. The Fire Horse Pokémon materialized.
The gang's mouths all opened in awe and shock at the same time. The flames on the Pokémon's mane, tail, and legs flow behind him ever so elegantly. It's red eyes sparkle and it's fur coat has a shiny look to it.
"Let me introduce you." May said. "Rapidash, this is Drew. He'll be your new trainer, okay?"
Rapidash neighed happily in agreement.
Drew walked up to his new Kantonian Rapidash. Rapidash lowered his head to Drew and Drew pet Rapidash. "It's nice to meet you." Drew said.
"Wow. That's so cool!" Dawn said excitedly. "Now you both can ride your Rapidash through town."
Drew turned around to face May. "And you're really giving him to me?"
"Of course, silly." May answered. "Why would I trick you on your birthday?"
Drew smiled. "Fair point." He turned back around and looked up at Rapidash. "Did you catch a new Rapidash, or is this one from the stable?"
"It's just one from the stable." May answered. "We have plenty." She walked to Drew. "And I really wanted you to have one, so we can ride them around town like Dawn said."
Drew looked at May. "I think that sounds great. Thank you for the presents." He looked around at the gang. "And thank you guys for coming."
"Sure. It was fun." Gary said.
"I'll take my thank you in another way." May said.
Drew looked at May. He stared into her eyes for a while, thinking about what she was talking about. He then smiled once he knew what that was. He returned Rapidash to his Pokéball and put the ball on the table. He faced May and cupped her cheek with his hand.
May tilted her head up more, ready for Drew to kiss her. And that's what he did. Drew leaned in and planted his lips on May's. This is the 'thank you' that May wanted from Drew.
Drew backed away and they both smiled at each other. "Was that what you wanted?" Drew asked.
"Yes it was." May answered.
After a moment of silence between them, May spoke again to break the silence.
"Happy birthday."
"Thank you for really making it the best one yet."
