Pairing: Bumbleby
Summary: In a world where humans are seen as the less-favorable race, Yang meets Blake's parents.
As far as Yang was concerned, this was the best morning ever. The sun was shining. The air was comfortable and warm. She was tired yet full of energy. Her favorite person in the world was laying right beside her. And, possibly the best part, neither of them had reclaimed their clothes from last night.
"This was such a good idea…" she murmured while trailing kisses across Blake's bare shoulder, savoring the soft, warm skin beneath her lips. When Blake laughed at the comment, tilting her head back in the process, Yang seized the opportunity to extend those kisses along Blake's neck.
"I believe it was your idea…"
"And I have good ideas." After feeling another soft laugh reverberate against her lips, Yang finally pulled away, laid her head down on the pillow, and smiled. "You can't say you didn't enjoy it," she pointed out while Blake's fingers wove through her hair.
"Oh, I enjoyed it. A lot."
Blake's smirk suggested she knew exactly what effect she was having on Yang right now, as it became harder and harder to focus on anything but those soft, gentle fingers. Yang lost a lot of arguments this way, seeing as she basically became a submissive voice willing to agree with anything Blake said, but...she didn't particularly mind that.
"Glad to have been of service," she murmured in response, her eyes fluttering as sleep suddenly sounded enticing again.
"Who's the kitten now?" Blake practically purred while putting Yang further under her spell.
"Definitely still you…"
"Uh huh."
Hearing Blake's laugh put another smile on Yang's lips, and she willingly dragged her eyes open to capture the sight in front of her. Blake was the most beautiful person she'd ever met, and that inherent beauty was even brighter in times like this - when they were together, alone, and given time to just...be with each other. The outside world didn't watch them here, telling them who they should or shouldn't be, and that freedom felt like a heavy weight lifted from Yang's shoulders.
"I missed you," she admitted softly, knowing that the words would make Blake smile.
"It was only three days…"
"Three days too long."
Blake's eyes sparkled at the response, letting Yang know that the admission made an impact. That was exactly what she wanted. She never wanted Blake to wonder, worry, or even remotely question her feelings.
"Well…" Blake finally replied, letting her gaze drift lower while her hand inevitably did the same. "I think we made up for it, didn't we?"
"Maybe…"
"Only maybe?"
When Blake's brow rose, Yang laughed, hopefully concealing the shudder that raced down her spine when Blake trailed one finger along her collarbone.
"Depends. If I say yes, does that mean we won't do it again?"
Again, Blake laughed. And again, Yang's heart just about jumped out of her chest from happiness.
A lot of people might be more deserving of someone like Blake - more successful, more intelligent, more...compatible. But whenever she laughed like that, so carefree and content, Yang knew that, regardless of what anyone else said or thought, she could make Blake happy. And wasn't that what everyone was after?
"Ok, you have to tell me now..." With a smile still on her lips, Blake caught Yang's gaze and held it closely. "Why were you so determined to defile my childhood room?"
That was a good question seeing as how it was all Yang could think about immediately after Blake gave her the grand tour. Last night hadn't been the right time to bring up those thoughts, especially when Blake pretty willingly gave in to their shared desires. Having succeeded in her somewhat-childish quest, however, now Yang had to explain herself.
"Because...this is your house."
That was a pretty bland beginning, but Blake didn't point out the obvious. Instead, she quietly waited for Yang to continue.
"And I'm here with you," Yang explained. "It feels...forbidden, you know?"
"You're more than welcome here."
"You know what I mean," she replied with a smile, silently assuring Blake that she understood and didn't mind the circumstances. She signed up for it, after all. "I'm not supposed to be here, or with you. Definitely not supposed to be doing any of those things with you…"
"Says who?"
With a smile reserved solely for Yang, Blake reached over and wove her fingers through Yang's hair. In two short words, she reminded Yang that those outside opinions didn't matter here. The only opinion that mattered belonged to the girl who'd been a more-than-willing participant in last night's festivities.
Yang was lucky. She was really lucky. How else could she explain the magnificent, wonderful person she got to spend her time with?
"Besides," she added, content to let those other thoughts drift away. "I'm the only one who's ever gotten to do that with you here." When Blake's brow rose, however, her certainty deflated. "Right?" she asked instead. "I'm the first?"
"What will you do if I say 'no' to that?"
Just thinking about that possible answer was enough to nearly make her head explode. If she wasn't the first one who had the pleasure of doing...all of the things she had the pleasure of doing last night...then she needed to know who beat her and when. Then she'd need ample assurance that last night was so much better.
"Yang."
Stirring from those thoughts, she refocused on the gorgeous girl laying beside her and smiled when Blake shook her head.
"I told you I didn't really make great friends in high school, right?" Blake added with a playful smile that made Yang laugh.
"I can't believe I missed out on antisocial Blake."
"You didn't miss anything, believe me."
"But I did." The hint of regret in Yang's tone was enough to make Blake's hand pause, and Yang took a deep breath before adding, "I wish we'd met in high school. I'm positive I would've fallen for you just as hard. Probably even harder, knowing how I was back then."
"Doesn't that make this even better?" Still smiling, Blake gently set her hand on Yang's cheek. "You grew out of your high school crushes. I grew out of being so...reserved. And now we get to come home for the summer and desecrate my high school bedroom while my parents are out of town."
"Well, when you put it that way…" Yang said before turning and pressing a kiss to Blake's palm. "But you know what I mean, right?"
"I do. Of course I do. I wish we'd met sooner too."
Satisfied with that response, Yang smiled and savored the emotions in Blake's eyes. To Yang, it felt like she finally found her person. The one she was supposed to spend all of her time with, for possibly the rest of her life. But along with the laughter and conversations they shared lurked a subtle remorse that they hadn't connected sooner. It was as if, as soon as they found each other, she wondered what the hell she'd been doing for all of those years. Wasted time, it felt like - time they could have spent together.
Of course, life was more complicated than that, especially for the two of them. Even if they found each other in high school...even if they somehow struck up a conversation or a connection...would either of them have had the courage to take the leap of faith necessary for their relationship to begin?
Probably not, considering the biggest obstacle still hadn't been resolved.
"You know who I can wait to meet though," Yang added with a light laugh, though just thinking about it made her nervous.
"It'll be fine," Blake replied with a soft smile. "You can meet them before summer's over - promise. I just want to prepare them for…" When she trailed off and tried to come up with a diplomatic way to phrase the situation, Yang decided to offer a bit of levity.
"For how hot I am?" she offered with a wink that succeeded in making Blake laugh.
"Well yes, that. But also because you're...you know...not Faunus."
Even though Blake said the words with an apologetic expression, Yang shook her head and offered a reassuring smile. It hadn't taken a genius to know that the prettiest Faunus girl on campus was off limits to humans, but that hadn't stopped her from pursuing her massive crush anyway.
When it turned out that Blake returned those feelings, Yang realized that she didn't care what other people thought. They could call her whatever names they wanted. They could judge her, look down on her, or whisper that someone like her didn't deserve to be with Blake. That didn't bother her at all.
What bothered her was that Blake would receive some of that backlash too, though Blake had already said many times that she didn't care. What downright terrified Yang though was that the two most important people in Blake's life might belong to that group.
She knew that Blake returned her feelings, but they'd kept their relationship a secret until they could overcome their biggest roadblock to being an official couple - Blake's parents. So they'd come up with a plan, and summer break provided the perfect opportunity.
Now that they were free from classes and home for the summer, Blake had plenty of time to butter up her parents. Then, when the 'right' time arrived, she would tell them that she'd been secretly dating someone, a human someone, and suggest that they meet. A meal or other small gathering could be scheduled, then Yang could finally meet the two people who she was both excited and afraid to know in person.
"If they...you know, don't like me…" she began, only for Blake to interrupt with a shake of her head.
"They'll like you. They're just going to be a little surprised, that's all."
"Angry surprised?" Yang asked, watching Blake furrow her brow and bite her lip.
"Just...surprised."
The fact that Blake didn't know how her parents would react gave Yang even more cause for concern, but she smiled and tried not to let it show. They'd been dating for months now and...she didn't want to be overdramatic and say that she couldn't live without Blake, but she would have a very, very hard time moving on.
"You know that even if they tell me to stop seeing you, I won't?" When Yang met Blake's gaze, Blake shook her head. "I won't. I'm an adult now, and I get to choose who I want to be with. Even if they don't like it, I've already made my decision."
Hearing those words and seeing the loving look that came with them warmed Yang's heart and reminded her of one of the many reasons why she adored the girl laying beside her. Besides being compassionate, intelligent, driven, and gorgeous, Blake had a streak of independence that was impossible not to find attractive.
"You know just what to say…" Yang hummed while drawing Blake closer to her. The proximity reminded her of last night - they had clothes on then, and they'd just laid on Blake's bed talking for hours before their severe lack of control got the best of them.
That lack of control was rearing its head again right now, as her mind searched for a more physical means to express just how much Blake's acceptance meant to her.
"We have the whole day…" she added while casually walking her fingers up Blake's arm, trying not to be too obvious about her intentions. "What do you want to do?"
"I know what I want to do first," Blake replied with a playful smirk - the look in her eyes saying that she already knew what Yang was hinting at. "After that...why don't you decide what you feel up for."
"Sounds like I might not be feeling up for much?"
"We'll see...maybe you'll just want to stay here all day."
That was already what Yang wanted, and that desire only grew when Blake moved forward and captured her lips in a kiss. So many emotions could be conveyed through such a soft, gentle touch, which left Yang breathless every single time.
But Blake wasn't going for slow and gentle right now. Instead, she pressed forward, forcing Yang onto her back before seamlessly crawling on top of her. Feeling Blake's soft, warm skin against hers, contrasted with the cool, silky covers, had her heart racing and her hands wandering in no time. Their deepening kisses only amplified her need for more - of this, of Blake - and it wasn't long before she surrendered to Blake's touch.
Besides how well they got along - how they challenged each other, communicated freely, and supported each other through thick and thin - this convinced her that what they had was the real deal. This was chemistry. This was connection. This was love...and she couldn't wait to spend the rest of her life showering Blake with as much of it as possible.
"You know I love you, right?" she got out when Blake started kissing her neck, sending shivers down her spine.
"Are you going to say that every time?" Blake mumbled against Yang's neck, adding surprisingly-pleasant tingles to go along with everything else.
"I just...want to make sure you know."
Disappointment stirred in her chest when the kisses suddenly stopped, only for her heart to pound like crazy when Blake pulled away and smiled down at her.
"I love you too, Yang." With that smile still in place, Blake leaned forward, pressed her lips to Yang's ear, and whispered, "That's why I'm going to spoil you rotten."
"I like the sound of that," Yang replied, though her voice was becoming breathless as her senses took over. Fortunately, she didn't need to talk now. All she had to do was lay back and accept the pleasure headed her way.
At least, that's what she thought. But a second later, Blake sat straight up in bed.
"W-what?" Yang managed to ask, blinking out of that blissful haze and trying to figure out why it suddenly stopped.
"Shh." While Blake scanned the walls of the room, her ears swiveled every which way before finally choosing a direction. Then her eyes widened. "Oh shit," she gasped before jumping out of bed and scrambling to find her clothes. "My parents are home."
"What? How do you -"
Yang couldn't even finish the question before the door downstairs opened, followed by a loud, deep, "Blake?"
Suddenly, her heart wasn't racing anymore. It actually stopped beating.
"Please tell me that's not your dad," she whispered while Blake threw a pile of clothes onto the bed.
"You know I can't lie to you," was all she said before pulling on a shirt and moving on to her pants. Taking that as impetus to hurry the fuck up, Yang scrambled out of bed and dressed as fast as humanly possible. In the interest of time, she skipped right to her pants and shoved her underwear in one of the pockets. Her bra though...she needed a bra if she was going anywhere in the outside world.
"I'll hide in the closet?" she suggested while hurrying that way, only for Blake to grab her by the arm and pull her away.
"He might hear you in there."
"How would he -?" she began to ask, only to panic when Blake's ears turned towards the door. "The window," she decided. That was the only escape from the room. Thankfully, they were only on the second story...though she'd twisted her ankle doing this before, but she'd rather twist an ankle than be caught hiding in the closet by Blake's dad. That was not how she wanted to meet the parents.
"Blake?"
His voice was closer now; it sounded like he was at the bottom of the stairs. Hopefully not coming upstairs, but with their luck...
"We brought breakfast."
"I'm coming!" Blake called back to him, only for Yang to smirk while pulling her shirt into place.
"Shouldn't that be past tense?"
"You have three seconds before I push you out myself," Blake whispered while shoving Yang towards the window. As soon as Blake slid it open, Yang hurried towards it - only for Blake to grab her by the front of her shirt and draw her into a deep kiss that sent her heart fluttering.
"I'll call you soon," Blake whispered after pulling away. Her eyes offered an apology and subtle promise to make it up to Yang later, which Yang accepted with a smile.
"Have fun at breakfast," she whispered back before ducking her head under the window and sticking one leg outside. "Love you," she added, earning herself one last kiss before Blake rushed to the bedroom door to intercept her dad.
Meanwhile, Yang took a deep breath, swung her other leg out of the window, and lowered herself as far towards the ground as possible. Considering her arms were already sore from last night's workout, she wouldn't be able to hold herself up for long. So, in the interest of saving her arms, she only briefly glanced at the ground before letting go.
The fall lasted only a second, and she landed on the front lawn in a perfectly-timed crouch. No rolled ankle this time. She didn't even fall on her ass. In fact, she was perfectly fine, which was why she looked up at Blake's bedroom window, brushed off her hands, and grinned.
"Totally nailed it." Hearing how that sounded out loud, she chuckled to herself. "The jump, I mean."
"That was a good landing."
"Right?"
Smiling now, she turned around, saw the person standing on the pathway behind her, and froze.
Based on the similar hair, similar features, and shockingly familiar eyes, she just met Blake's mom.
