Better

Grinning up at him, she leaned back in his arms. "Sensei gave me the day off books lessons since I keep up so well! Not like Sho'mru!" she gloated happily, cheeks flushed with excitement.

His own smile faltered for just a moment, tempted to laugh, but Toga forced himself to frown and tap her nose gently in reprimand. "It is not pretty to gloat, little one. If you know Sesshoumaru is having trouble with something, then you should offer to help, as he has with your katana training."

Wide-eyeded and a little guilty, the child nodded and glanced over his shoulder to look at Sho'mru again. She hadn't thought of it like that, at all. "But…Sho'mru is always so much better at everything than I am…"

Shaking his head, he carefully set her down. "That is no reason to begrudge him such. Perhaps, if you offer to help him in his studies, he will offer to help you with something?" he offered, crouching down to meet her eyes.

Kagome hesitated for only a moment and couldn't help but to sniffle a little as her eyes welled with tears. "But he even grows better than I do!" she wailed.

Surprised and mostly useless to those tears, Toga still couldn't help but to bark in laughter at the complaint as he patted her head. "He is a boy, Kagome. He will always grow faster! You will mature in your own time and what a beauty you will be. Your Sesshoumaru will have to beat off suitors with a stick!"
