And they said "There goes the last great American dynasty"
Who knows, if she never showed up what could've been
There goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen
She had a marvelous time ruining everything

The Major

"Why am I not surprised?"

Edward's deep sigh was followed by my own as I registered the resignation from Isa.

"Okay." I started. "Let's finish this before it gets too late. The girls need to eat."

Garrett shrugged and shared a glance with Alistair.

"Today boys." I added. "Start with how she came to be with Charlie and Renee."

Alistair nodded and began.

"So as explained, a changeling is believed to be a faery child that had been left in place of a human child." He shrugged. "Isabella, love child of Hades and Thetis, was, for lack of a better word, gifted to the Seelie Court leaders, Titania and Oberon."

"Wait, A Midsummer Night's Dream Titania?" Angela interrupted.

Edward laughed. "You're so bad at this, Alistair." He shook his head as he took over storytelling.

"Titania is the name given to the queen of faeries. In traditional folklore, the fairy queen has no name, so Shakespeare took the name Titania from Ovid's Metamorphoses, an appellation given to the daughters of Titans.

"What Alistair is trying to explain is that, much like A Midsummer Night's Dream, Titania and Oberon are arguing over the custody of a changeling whose mother died during birth. Oberon wants to raise the child to be a henchman and Titania wants to raise the child for the sake of the mother. Because both are powerful spirits and connected to nature, their feuding disrupts the weather. This is as far as the similarities go in relation to Isabella and Shakespeare."

"Continue." Marcus sighs.

"For the sake of nature, Titania decides to rid the court of the child to end the feuding. She tasks two lower level faeries with the child to return with a human child to cease all arguments with Oberon."

"Really Hercules 2.0?" Angela laughs.

"Honestly couldn't believe it either." Isa giggles in return.

I shook my head and smiled softly at the interruption. "Girls, please."

Edward chuckled lightly. "They're not wrong, Major. Titania decides, in order to protect the child in the unknown of the human world, to gift the child with some fae magic before giving her up. Unbeknownst to the Seelie leaders, the child already had a magic of her own."

"Oh, my favorite part." Garrett interrupts. "The child is Isabella by the way. Born of Hades and Thetis, Isabella is born with an innate control of water. Remember, Thetis is a sea nymph and goddess of water. In addition to her control of water, however, she is born with an unreal control of fire. Titania, without the knowledge that she is gifted enough on her own, gifts Isabella with the power to control nature. Everything about it. From the wind and rain to the trees and flowers, if it happens, organically, in nature, Isabella has control over it.

"The two fae tasked with swapping Isa with a normal human fucked up. They were to give Isa to a doctor and his wife who were unable to conceive. On the way though, they were caught in a blizzard, caused by Titania and Oberon who were arguing about the loss of Isabella. In an attempt to shelter from the storm, they hide out in an abandoned cabin for the duration of the storm.

"But that doesn't explain how they fuck up and how Isa ends up with the fuck nuts that she does." Ang says. "Nor does it explain who she was supposed to go to."

"I'll take over."

Edward

Take over at any time.

I laughed silently and ran my fingers through Isa's hair at her silent plea before she started to speak.

"No questions until the end please." She said softly.

After murmured agreement from everyone, she took a deep breath and started.

"I was originally to go to Carlisle and Esme. They were, at the time, the only ones capable of handling any weird, or rather godly, traits that I would exhibit as I grew up. Because the two fae tasked with rehoming me fucked up so tragically during the blizzard, I was, for lack of a better word, abandoned not near Carlisle and Esme, who were in Wyoming at the time, but instead Forks, Washington.

"As one does after a major storm, Charlie was patrolling to find any injured or missing persons and came across the cabin I was left in. Since no one was looking for a small child, he assumed responsibility for me. Titania's gift, thankfully, came with a clause. Because a normal, non-gifted human found me, all of my powers and majority of any god-like abilities I had were suppressed to allow me to fit in normally. If I had gone to Carlisle and Esme like I was supposed to, the magic that allows vampires to exist, would've triggered the binds on my gifts and appearance to release and I would've grown into my powers and appearance naturally."

I can't. Please help.

I let Isa hide her face in my chest and continued to play with her hair as I took over her story.

"Because she was now in the presence of humans, Isabella's gifts were bound permanently until she was 18 or she was harmed or in danger."

"Which she was." Marcus interrupted softly.

"Charlie and Renee lasted a grand total of six months after assuming responsibility of Isabella, at which time, Isa was taken by Renee to Phoenix." I answered. "Still in the presence of humans, Isa continued to grow at the rate of a normal newborn. Things were normal until Renee got a little too drunk and forgot Isabella at her dance studio at four years old."

I paused and shifted Isa in my lap, letting her curl further into me.

I started to speak again but stopped as I got sucked into the Major's memory.
