Chapter 56, Back to normal.

Jaden woke up in the infirmary feeling very confused, "What where am I" he asked as he looked around, "You're in the hospital genius" said Chazz who had woken up a few minutes ago.

"Chazz you're alright" said Jaden happily, just then Jaden remembered what had happened to him, "Chazz we've got big problems, the last Shadow rider is Professor Banner" he said, "I already know that, he beat me" said Chazz feeling a little embarrassed, "But what are we going to do, we have to warn the others" said Jaden.

"Jaden will you calm down, the fact that we're awake means that someone already beat him" said Chazz pointing out the obvious, "Oh yeah, I guess you're right, so who do you think beat him" said Jaden, "I have a feeling that I already know" thought Chazz.

Over at the Obelisk girls dorm Alexis woke up in her bed, she looked around for a second before she realised where she was, Alexis relaxed as she realised what must have happened, "Thanks Robin, I knew that I could count on you" she thought.

With the defeat of Banner things finally started to return to normal, Jaden and Chazz was released from the infirmary after a quick check up by Nurse Fontaine who still couldn't understand what had happened to them.

The former Key keepers and Chancellor Sheppard was all very shocked to learn that Professor Banner had been the last Shadow rider, Jaden seemed to have been affected by Banner's betrayal worst of all.

Now that all of the Shadow riders was defeated Chancellor Sheppard reclaimed all seven of the Spirit keys confident that they was now safe.

As for the others they returned to their school lives hoping that there wouldn't be any more unpleasant surprises.

After only a couple of days Alexis received some existing news, Atticus had finally been cleared by Nurse Fontaine and was ready to leave the infirmary.

Soon Alexis arrived at the infirmary just as Atticus was leaving, "Hi Atticus, nice to see you on your feet again" said Alexis, "Trust me, no one's happier than me" said Atticus.

The two siblings began to walk down the halls, "So is it true, was Banner really the last Shadow rider" whispered Atticus so that no one would hear them, "According to Robin he was, you should have seen him duel, he tore me apart" whispered Alexis, "I'm not surprised, he probably knew all of your decks inside and out" said Atticus.

The two continued out of the main building, Atticus wanted to see how things had changed at the school since he'd been gone.

Alexis showed her brother some of the things that had been built since he'd disappeared and they'd closed the old blue dorm, soon they reached the Obelisk blue boys dorm.

"Wow, so this is where all of the blue boys are staying now" said Atticus in wonder as he looked at what was the equivalent of a castle, "I think that the girls dorm is even nicer, it looks like something out of a fairy tale" said Alexis.

Just then Atticus saw a familiar face, "Hey Zane, long time no see" said Atticus as he ran up to his old friend, "I see that your still as positive as ever" said Zane, "And I see that your still as cheerful as ever" said Atticus sarcastically causing Zane to half smile.

"So how have you been, did you do anything interesting while I was gone" asked Atticus, "Not really, things was never the same after you disappeared, most of our old friends left the school out of fear of disappearing as well" said Zane.

"Really, you should tell me about that sometime" said Atticus, "I can tell you right now, concerning that your sister doesn't mind" said Zane, "It's alright, I know that you two have some catching up to do" said Alexis.

"Great lets go" said Atticus as he left with Zane to talk about old times.

Alexis wondered what she should do while Atticus was with Zane, for a moment she thought about calling Mindy and Jasmine, "Hi Alexis, what are you doing over here" asked a familiar voice.

Alexis looked up and saw Robin looking down from his balcony, "Hi Robin, I was just showing Atticus the new blue dorm, but he just left with Zane" said Alexis, "Well it's a lovely day, do you want to hang out" asked Robin taking note of the clear blue sky, "Sure why not" said Alexis.

Over at the Slifer dorm Jaden was moping around in his room, he still wasn't over Banner's betrayal.

"Hey Jaden, do you want to have a duel or something" asked Syrus trying to cheer his friend up, "No thanks Sy, I don't really feel like it" sighed Jaden.

"This is bad, Jaden usually always wants to duel" said Chumley, "I know, he just hasn't been himself since the whole Shadow rider thing ended" said Syrus, "Well, I can't really blame him, who would have thought that Banner was a traitor the entire time" said Chumley.

"Jaden I know that your sad about what happened, but you have to get over it" said Syrus, "How can I, I trusted Professor Banner, and he turned out to be a bad guy, I feel like I can't even tell good and evil apart anymore" said Jaden, "Well if it makes you feel any better, Banner had us all fooled, I don't think that anyone suspected him" said Chumley.

Jaden just sighed Chumley's words didn't do much to lighten his mood, just then Jaden's phone started to ring, and Jaden half-heartedly answered the call.

Bastion was in the library studying for an upcoming test, he still felt bad that he'd been of so little help against the Shadow riders, however he was trying to get over this and return to his normal life.

Unfortunately for Bastion no matter how hard he tried his thoughts seemed to always turn to Tania, he remembered the time that they spent together and he wished that he could see her again as he drifted off into a daydream about Tania.

Bastion was woken from his fantasy by his phone ringing, Bastion wondered who would be calling him at this time as he answered the call.

Robin and Alexis was sitting by the lighthouse drinking cola, "So how did you beat Banner anyway, he seemed to be unstoppable when I duelled him" asked Alexis, "Honestly, I just got lucky, he banished too many of his own cards and then ended up decking out" said Robin.

"I would have thought that a duelling teacher would have kept an eye on how many cards he had left" said Alexis, "Well lets be thankful that he didn't" said Robin as he took a drink of cola

Alexis was silent for a moment there was something that she had wanted to ask Robin for a while, "So Robin, have you been seeing anyone here at Duel academy" she asked, "Well there is one girl, but we haven't stepped passed just being friends yet" said Robin with a smile.

Alexis got a little closer, "Is it anyone I now" she asked almost teasingly, "I think you do" said Robin as he placed his hand on Alexis's.

Robin and Alexis moved closer to each other, Robin's hand moved around Alexis's back, and Alexis wrapped her arms around the back of Robin's head, they moved closer until their noses was almost touching then their phones rang.

"Damn it" thought both Robin and Alexis as the mood was completely ruined, Robin and Alexis reached for their phones cursing whoever had called them.

Robin saw that the one who had called him was Dr Crowler, "This had better be good" thought Robin as he answered the call, "What is it" he said annoyance clear in his voice.

Crowler spoke so quickly that it was difficult for Robin to understand, he was clearly very panicked, "Slow down, what happened" said Robin, Crowler repeated his sentence and Robin's eyes widened in fear.

"Do you know who took them" asked Robin, Crowler answered with a no, "Ok, I be there as soon as I can" said Robin as he hung up.

Robin turned to Alexis and saw that she had a look of pure horror on her face, clearly she had received the same type of call that he just had.

"We'd better go" said Robin, "Right" said Alexis as the two stood up and ran towards the main building.
