One Night Stand: 3/6/2007
WWE One Night Stand was live at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The first match that aired was a Stretcher match between Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam. The match went back and forth before Van Dam attempted to perform a Somersault Plancha onto Orton, but Orton moved out of the way. Orton put Van Dam on the stretcher and tried to wheel him across the finishing line. Van Dam, however, managed to kick Orton in the head and put him onto the stretcher. Van Dam wheeled the stretcher over the line for the win. After the match, Orton attacked Van Dam, executing an Elevated DDT off the barricade onto the arena floor. Van Dam was then carried out of the arena on the stretcher.
The next match was CM Punk and The ECW Originals (Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman) against the New Breed (Elijah Burke, Matt Striker and Marcus Cor Von) in a Tables match. Towards the end, Cor Von looked to Alpha Bomb Punk through a table, but Sandman hit Cor Von with a Singapore cane. With Burke on the table, Punk suplexed Striker off the top rope and through the table and Burke to win.
The third match was The Hardy Boyz (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy) against The World's Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas) in a Ladder match for the World Tag Team Championship. The Hardys had the advantage for most of the match, but as Jeff was climbing the ladder to try and grab the belts, Benjamin botched a springboard attempt. Benjamin kicked the ladder from underneath Jeff, however, to gain control. The Hardys regained the advantage by pushing the ladder as The World's Greatest Tag Team were climbing it, causing Benjamin to fall to the floor. Jeff Swanton bombed Haas as Matt climbed the ladder to get the belts and win.
Next on the card was Mark Henry versus Kane in a Lumberjack match with twelve lumberjacks at ringside; Chris Benoit, Val Venis, Santino Marella, Balls Mahoney, Stevie Richards, The Miz, Kevin Thorn, Chris Masters, Johnny Nitro, Chavo Guerrero, Kenny Dykstra and Carlito. Kane chokeslamed Henry towards the end of the contest and attempted to pin Henry. Chavo Guerrero and Kenny Dykstra interfered, however, and attacked Kane. Kane fought back and chokeslammed Dykstra, but Henry locked Kane in a bear hug. The referee stopped the contest after Kane kayfabe passed out.
The next match was Vince McMahon (accompanied by Shane McMahon and Umaga) against Bobby Lashley in a Street Fight for the ECW World Championship. Shane and Umaga interfered in the match, helping Vince gain the advantage. Shane performed a flying elbow drop, sending Lashley through the announce table at ringside. Back inside the ring, as Umaga was holding a trash can in front of Lashley's face in the corner, Shane attempted to execute the Coast-to-Coast dropkick; however, Lashley moved away, and Shane dropkicked the trash can into Umaga's face. Team McMahon kept the upper hand, as Umaga performed a Samoan Drop onto Lashley, which was followed by a spear from Vince. Lashley, however, gained the upper hand by hitting Vince several times with a steel chair. Lashley performed a spear on Shane and followed with a spear to Vince before pinning Vince to gain the victory and become the new ECW World Champion.
A Pudding match was next, as Candice Michelle faced WWE Women's Champion Melina. Candice forced Melina to submit by holding her head under the pudding.
The next match was Edge against Batista in a Steel Cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship, which could be won by pinfall, submission, or escaping the cage. During the first few minutes of the contest, Edge attempted to escape the cage many times but Batista stopped him and gained the advantage after a suplex to Edge off the top rope. Edge gained the upper hand late in the contest, performing a spear to Batista, but didn't get the pinfall. Batista regained the advantage and attempted the Batista Bomb, but Edge reversed the move. Edge climbed over the top of the cage while Batista crawled towards the door. Edge's feet hit the arena floor first, and he was declared the winner and retained his title
Next up was a Falls Count Anywhere match for the WWE Championship.
In the arena, John Cena's theme hits and he comes out to a positive reaction and runs down the ramp, slides into the ring and throws his hat off. He does his arm raise then throws his shirt off as his theme dies down and now he waits for the WWE Champion.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah! Get up, come on get down with the sickness!'
Down with the Sickness plays to a loud pop and out comes the Bladewolf with the WWE Championship around his waist, baseball bat in his right hand. He makes his way down the ramp towards the ring with his brow eyes staring at John Cena who stared back with no intimidation on his face.
Bladewolf rolls into the ring and stand sup, pointing the bat at Cena as his theme dies down. Bladewolf puts the bat down outside the ring and takes off his coat as announcements begin.
"the following contest is scheduled a Falls Count Anywhere match and it is for the WWE Championship! Introducing first, the challenger, from West Newbury, Massachusetts, weighing 248 lbs...JOHN CENA!" Cena raises his arms and does the 'You Can't See Me' motion to Bladewolf.
"And his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing 299 lbs, he is the WWE Champion...THE BLADEWOLF!" Bladewolf smirks at Cena and does the cutthroat taunt to cheers from the fans.
The referee holds up the WWE Championship before giving it to someone at ringside then calls for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Bladewolf and Cena circled each other without taking their eyes off the other before they locked up, both trying to overpower the other until Bladewolf shoved Cena onto his back and Cena quickly got to his feet, looking a little surprised. They locked up again and tried to push the other back, Cena hanging in there this time as he pushes Bladewolf back a step, then another, when suddenly Bladewolf slips behind him, wraps his arms around him from behind and takes him down with a double leg takedown.
Both men quickly got to their feet, Cena backing off. He knows he cannot let himself be dominated by the Bladewolf as that is when the match is basically over for Bladewolf's opponent unless they can overpower the Bladewolf and get the upperhand.
Cena gestured for a lock up and Bladewolf just goes for a hard right that Cena ducks and hits a couple of right punches of his own, one clobbering Bladewolf hard enough to make the WWE Champion go down and he quickly backs off. Cena smirks and holds up one finger, saying he got him once. Bladewolf rolls his shoulders and cracks his neck before him and Cena circle each other again then lock up again but Bladewolf quickly picked Cena up, runs and drives him into the corner where he drives his shoulder into Cena's stomach multiple times.
Bladewolf drives his knee into Cena's stomach before going for a pull-in clothesline which Cena ducks, rebounds off the ropes and takes Bladewolf down with a shoulder tackle, rebounds off the ropes only to come running into a big boot to the face that floors Cena. Cena quickly backs off and Bladewolf stares at him, looking amused.
Cena glared, then charged for a shoulder block but ran into Bladewolf's own shoulder block. Bladewolf rebounds off the ropes but Cena ducks under his feet, Bladewolf rebounds off the ropes again and Cena leapfrogs over him and turns around into a hard right from the WWE Champion, flooring Cena.
Bladewolf drops an elbow across the chest of Cena then locks in a headlock tightly, trying to wear Cena down. Cena grits his teeth as he struggles to fight out but Bladewolf had his arms locked tightly like a Python snake squeezing the life out of it's prey. Cena slowly gets to a knee, then gets to both feet and drives his elbow into the stomach of the Bladewolf, who grunts with each elbow strike before he clobbers Cena from behind, taking the former WWE Champion down.
Bladewolf picks Cena up from behind and hits a release German Suplex, then another, then another, then another, then another. He walks over and picks Cena up, Irish whips him into the corner before he runs and nails a turnbuckle clothesline, scoops Cena up and...NAILS SNAKE EYES! Bladewolf rebounds off the ropes and comes back with a hard clothesline, rebounds off the ropes and nails a leg drop! He hooks the leg! ONE! TWO! THR-! Cena kicks out at two!
Bladewolf rolls out the ring and picks up a steel chair and he rolls back into the ring walking towards Cena, who suddenly lifts him up...AND NAILS THE FU! CENA HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT AT TWO!
Cena gets to his feet and quickly stomps on the WWE Champion a few times before he picks up the steel chair and waits for Bladewolf to get to his feet before he swings...AND NAILS A CHAIR SHOT OFF THE SKULL!
Cena tosses the chair aside before he grabs Bladewolf and Irish whips him into the corner, boots him in the stomach and hits a fisherman suplex and goes for the cover but Bladewolf kicks out at two. Cena hammers away at Bladewolf's forehead a few times before he backs off and watches Bladewolf try getting to his feet but Cena runs and dropkicks Bladewolf in the ribs, sending him rolling out the ring.
Cena follows and goes after Bladewolf who kicks Cena in the stomach, then nails a hard right before he grabs Cena and Irish whips him into the steps. Bladewolf walks over, grabs Cena and Irish whips him into the barricade before he runs...AND SPEARS CENA THROUGH THE BARRICADE!
Bladewolf picks Cena up and send shim further into the crowd, hammering away at him before sending him into the guard railings. Bladewolf picks up a trashcan and goes to hit Cena with it but Cena kicks him into the stomach...AND HITS A DDT ON THE TRASHCAN! CENA HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT AGAIN!
Cena gets to his feet, grabs Bladeowlf and they continue fighting through the crowd, nearing the stage set. Bladewolf tosses Cena over a table with food and drinks on it, grabs Cena again and bashes his head off one of the TV monitors for other countries. Bladewolf then picks up a steel chair and waits until Cena had gotten to his feet...AND NAILS A CHAIR SHOT TO THE SKULL OF CENA!
Bladewolf tosses the chair aside then he rips off his sleeveless top, tossing it aside, getting wolf whistles from female fans when they saw his muscular body and abs. Bladewolf grabs Cena and brings him to the walkway of the stage where they continue to do battle. Cena reverses an irish whip and sends Bladewolf into the barricade and unloads with hard right shots to the skull before he grabs Bladewolf and lifts him onto his shoulders for the FU but Bladewolf elbows Cena in the side of the ehad, sldies off and clobbers Cena with a hard right.
Bladewolf grabs Cena and lifts him onto his shoulders...BEFORE HE HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF ON THE FLOOR! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! CENA KICKS OUT AGAIN!
Bladewolf shows anger at this as he gets to his feet and walks over to the ring, picking up his baseball bat. He strikes Cena's legs with the bat, then the arms and watches Cena stumble to his feet and turn around...INTO A SHOT TO THE SKULL FROM THE BAT! CENA IS BUSTED WIDE OPEN!
Bladewolf drops the bat before he drags Cena back to the ring and tosses him into it. Bladewolf slides in, watches Cena before he runs...AND HITS A SPEAR! Bladewolf jumps to his feet with a primal roar before he grabs Cena, sets him up into the Vertical Suplex position...AND HITS THE WOLF'S FANG! HE HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THREE! BLADEWOLF RETAINS THE WWE CHAMPION!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Down with the Sickness plays as Bladewolf gets to his feet and leans against the ropes. "Here is your winner and STILL WWE Champion...THE BLADEWOLF!" Bladewolf is handed the WWE Championship and he raises it as he stands tall.
For 188 days he has been WWE Champion and the reign continues...
