Gibbs went back to work the next day. He was still stumped. He was hindered by the burden of Eli David which he tried his best not to put on his people. He wanted to carry the weight of the burden. He didn't want his people to be the ones stressing over it. He was worried. For Tony and Ziva. They are now the main targets. More so Ziva but he had a feeling DiNozzo probably made a target for himself for always being with Ziva and protecting her. When he went to work, he saw McGee working efficiently as usual but the desks of Tony and Ziva were empty.
"Hey. Tim." He asked softly.
McGee looked up at him confused. He called me Tim.
"Boss?"
"Where is Tony and Ziva?"
"I don't know boss. Ziva went first and Tony followed. I don't know where they went." He explained afraid that Gibbs would bet mad about the zero intel he had. To his surprise he wasn't. He just left the bullpen early for the second time of the week.
He went to Ziva's apartment. His gut told him she was there. When he arrived, he knocked. He got no answer so he picked Ziva's lock and he looked around. There weren't there. For once his famous gut was wrong. So, he went to Tony's.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
Tony woke up about two hours after he fell asleep. His muscles were so sore and stiff but Ziva was still fast asleep. He thought about waking her but he decided against doing that. Instead, he ogled Ziva's body using his... x-ray vision... Staring her down, he noticed her sleeve was out of place. He also noticed a bloody gauze wrapped around her wrist. He examined it with his eyes. The blood was in the shape of a big-ish slit. It was quite a lot of blood so it was deep. Did she get hurt? But after a bit of contemplating, realization dawned him.
Oh Ziva. Why didn't you say something? Why would you do that? I told you that you matter to all of us why would you do this to yourself?
Tony didn't know what to do. He was stuck in one position on his couch. He just found that his partner tried to off herself. He was afraid to move in the fear of waking her up. He needed to make several calls to several people but he couldn't reach his phone. So he just lay there in the hope someone would come in or she would wake up soon.
His wish came true but only an hour later.
"DiNozzo!" Gibbs yelled from outside.
Tony's eyes lit up when he heard Gibbs calling his name from outside his door but he couldn't answer so he just said nothing and hoped that Gibbs would just come in. He did.
When he found them the way they were on the couch he just stood there and stared. Tony looked at his boss. Embarrassed.
"Um- Uh. This is no what you think. Boss." He whispered.
"What does it look like DiNozzo?"
"Well. We are no breaking rule 12 just so you know. I asked her if she was ok and she dismissed me and she sort of fell asleep on me and now. Now I can't move." He explained quietly.
At that moment, Gibbs understood. He stepped forward to wake her. But Tony stopped him.
"Boss. Wait." He whispered.
He stopped and stared at Tony.
"What?"
"Look." He looked at the bloody gauze wrapped around Ziva's wrist."
"Yeah? she cut herself." Gibbs said like it was obvious.
"No. Gibbs. I think she tried to- I think she tried to you know..." Tony trailed off.
Gibbs took a closer look at Ziva's hand. He realized that Tony might be right. He nodded at Tony and tried to wake Ziva up.
"Ziver. Ziver. Wake up." He sighed when she didn't. He tried again.
"Ziva. Wake up." He shook her harder. To Gibbs and Tony's relief, she began to stir slightly. She fell back asleep though.
"Come on Ziva. Wake up." Gibbs said up really close to her ear. It startled her slightly but eventually she woke.
"Ziva. You fell asleep on DiNozzo." Gibbs explained.
"What? I did?" She asked sleepily.
"Yes. Now would you please get off me?" he asked sweetly.
"Oh. Sorry. Of course." She scooted off Tony's body and sat on the empty spot on the couch. Tony got off the couch and stretched and yawned. He was so sore everywhere. He winced when his stiff muscles began to move after being locked in the same place for hours.
"Sorry Tony." Ziva said quietly and sadly.
"Don't mention it." He smiled.
Gibbs and Tony didn't miss it when Ziva fixed her sleeve and winced ever so slightly.
"Where did you get that?" Gibbs pointed to her wrist.
"I slipped." She lied.
"Looks painful." Tony said simply.
"Not really."
Tony and Gibbs looked at each other.
"Come on guys. We got work to do."
