Who are the Zanzo?
The two counterintelligence branches of the Dragon Empire, Nubatama and Murakumo, are normally tasked with reconnaissance and suppression. As the turmoil of Cray spreads further into the Empire, the Emperor has given his officials the power necessary to strengthen the two branches. Nubatama has been augmented to further sabotages their external enemies, and Murakumo has been augmented to deal with internal ones. The Zanzo are the latest squad to join the ninja corps- a handpicked force of the most loyal troops, dedicated to locating and killing dissident elements. Few know of who serves under the Zanzo, but as of now, no one has survived an encounter with them. They all take the name "Zanzo" to show their comradery and dedication to their mission.
Who is Chujitsuna Zanzo?
The leader of the new Zanzo tribe, and by far their most powerful warrior. Born from the depths of darkness, he was originally a slave to a corrupt noble dragon, forced to silence his master's opponents on the penalty of death. He was freed when his master was implicated in a scandal and exiled as a result. Using his assassination skills as part of Murakumo, he quickly rose through the ranks, earning admiration from many of it's lower ranking officers. Until he was picked to lead the Zanzo ninja, he specialized in uncovering and punishing corrupt nobles, especially those wishing to ferment social unrest. Many of the ninja in his tribe were once in disadvantaged positions themselves, be they slaves, gladiators, mercenaries, or exiles. Some have accused the Zanzo of being more loyal to Chujitsuna than the Emperor, but these accusations enjoy little support from any class.
