Episode 60- Goodbye, Sonic
Sometimes in life all a man needed was some pancakes to help the world slow down.
In Sorun's opinion they were the penultimate food, seconded only by french fries. Or at least the ones made by Sonic's mother had that effect on him. He wasn't so sure why. They just had this strange calming effect that helped Sorun to think. Whenever he bit into one of those golden, fluffy discs all his worries seemed to just disappear in that moment. They calmed him down enough so he didn't feel like he was gonna die of a panic attack every second.
He decided to just ignore everything Shadow had told him, a decision reached halfway through the pancakes graciously provided to him by Bernadette. It was weird, definitely so, but he wouldn't be around long enough to worry about it. No reason to look behind him at strange loose ends like that. He'd leave that weird, strange matter in much more capable hands than his.
Wasn't his problem.
He was going home.
"I'm really gonna miss her pancakes." It was with a forlorn expression that Sorun stared down at the empty plate right in front of him. As far as his second last meal went, it was miles better than a damn hotdog. All good things had to come to an end, though, and unfortunately pancakes weren't infinite, despite how much he wished for the opposite. So with a resigned sigh, he took the plate and utensils and walked them over to the sink.
He'd probably only made it through twenty seconds of washing them before a gloved hand shot in from outside of Sorun's view to softly grab onto his wrist. He jumped a bit due to being startled from the sudden contact.
"Oh, Sorun! I thought I told you that you didn't need to worry about the dishes!" The feminine voice reaching Sorun's ears caused him to turn towards its source. He saw that it was Bernadette herself standing next to Sorun and grabbing at his arm. Same warm eyes and same kind smile as always. "You've been through enough without having to worry about that. Go on, just leave it. I'll get to it later."
"A-ah, right. Sorry, Mrs. Hedgehog," Sorun quickly apologized. He'd reached his hand out from the sink, prompting the blue hedgehog to let go of him, though her smile became a bit strained. "I just didn't want to be a burden-"
"Oh, shush now, Sorun, shush. You're anything but a burden," Bernadette chided him with a shake of her head. "Just go on and relax, dear. I'll take care of it."
Even after all this time Sorun couldn't help but be flustered around the woman. Perhaps it was because she reminded him a bit of his own mother. It was because of that he couldn't help but feel inherently bad by the way she wouldn't so much as let him lift a finger to help with anything, and how he'd felt a bit guilty asking her for pancakes at eight at night only for her to agree without any hesitation whatsoever. It was a combination of her just being that genuinely good a person and in part, Sorun suspected, due to some amount of gratitude she held for Sorun for saving her, her family, and everybody else during the destruction of Knothole, as well as helping out with the Freedom Fighters.
It was a sentiment the other members of Sonic's family shared, as well. His robotic father had been acting friendly around him, smiling and patting Sorun on the back while giving him well wishes on his return home. Chuck, who had been visiting his family at the time, had largely been the same. All smiles and happiness, not a hint of animosity between them directed at Sorun. He was grateful for the family's hospitality, though he also felt a bit undeserving of it. Of just how nice they were to him.
Almost five months on this planet and he never got used to how nice people here could be.
"I never got to thank you and your husband for giving me a place to live in all this time I've been here," Sorun said as he sat back down at the dining room table. "I-"
"There's no need for that, Sorun. It was nothing," Bernadette assured him, still wearing that kind smile on her face. "If anything, I'm almost sorry you're leaving. It was nice having such a polite, young man like you spend some time with my son. I was so hoping some of your manners would rub off on Sonic, but, ah, alas... he still won't pick up his socks."
"Yes, he's still the same as always," Sorun finished with a nod. "It's unfortunate you were given such an ungrateful son who can't see the lengths his mother will go for him," he'd jokingly stated, though on the inside he was completely sincere with his statement.
Bernadette made a bit of a giggle at the statement. "He's still my son, and I love him dearly. And I can't exactly fault him considering how many times he's saved, well... the whole planet." She took one glance at the sink, and then looked back at Sorun. "I'll get to those tomorrow. You're free to spend the night here before you go back home tomorrow, dear. I, um... suppose this would be goodbye."
"That it would be," Sorun confirmed. "Thank you very much for taking care of me, Mrs. Hedgehog. Words alone cannot express how grateful I am to you for taking me in."
Her smile had wavered a bit, and past the tan fur on her mouth Sorun could have sworn he perceived a blush on the woman's face. "It's no trouble, dear," she assured him. "Take as much time as you need to settle in. Thank you for everything you've done."
After that, and with one final nod to Sorun, Bernadette left to some other part of the house. Sorun himself breathed out lightly and leaned back in the chair, leaving one arm laying across the dining room table as he glanced around. As far as aesthetics went, Nicole had done a more than decent job recreating the Hedgehogs' new home here in New Mobotropolis. Wasn't the exact same, of course, and from what Sorun understood they had to retake a lot of pictures since the old ones were lost in the bombing, but otherwise it was still a very homely-feeling place.
Sorun had only been able to admire the décor of the kitchen for a few minutes before a blue speed blur passed in front of his vision, followed by the sensation of somebody sitting next to him. Sighing out, Sorun turned to the side to see Sonic sitting in a chair right next to him, forearms softly tapping on the table's surface as he grinned at the human.
"Hey-hey, my man, Sorun," Sonic greeted. "How're you feeling about tomorrow?"
"As well as I can be," Sorun answered. "All things considered I'm pretty excited to leave."
"Oof. Don't gotta act that happy to be leaving us," Sonic said, feigning a hurt expression.
Sorun made a wry grin. "I would stay, Sonic, but... I'm not gonna lie. I don't want to. This world's too crazy for me," he said. "Speaking of which, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask if I can spend one last night in your room. I don't have anywhere else to go, you see."
"Yeah, sure, no problem," Sonic agreed with a nod. "Just, uh... it's kinda messy in there, eh-heh, so if you wouldn't mind-"
Sonic was cut off when, after his face flashed into an expression of annoyance, Sorun reached out and pinched Sonic's nose between his thumb and index finger. The hedgehog made a strangled sound and tried swatting at Sorun's arm to get him to release him, while Sorun stared at Sonic with narrowed eyes.
"I consider it a great shame that such a wonderful woman like your mother has to have such boorish son such as you that can't even pick up after himself," Sorun grumbled out, still keeping a hold on Sonic's nose. "She gives you life and you don't even have the decency to pay her back by keeping your room clean? Have you no shame?"
"Le' 'o of meh!" Rolling his eyes, Sorun finally released his hold on the hedgehog's nose. He breathed in deeply as a result, and then made a groaning sound as he darted his eyes away from Sorun's piercing glare. "Gimme a break, Sorun. You're tearing me apart over one bad habit?"
"You should be thankful that's the only trait of yours I picked out," Sorun said.
"Sheeeesh..." Sighing, Sonic leaned back in his chair enough that his face was facing the ceiling. "Hey, I wanted to ask. You're kind of in a hurry to race back home to Earth, aren't you?"
Though he couldn't see it, Sorun gave Sonic a flat look. "Yes, how could I ever be rushing to make it back to my loved ones I haven't seen in months?" Sorun dryly remarked.
Blowing past his lips, Sonic ceased leaning in the chair. He oriented it back so that all four legs were on the floor, after which Sonic turned to Sorun while locking eyes with him. "You could just stay for a little bit longer, y'know? Few more days ain't gonna do any more harm," he suggested. "Or we could, well... I dunno, just send a letter or something through the portal to explain what happened to you so they don't worry?"
Sorun's mood began to dim a bit, and it began to show on his face. "Sonic..."
"I know, I know. Family's important. You shouldn't stay." Sonic rose his palms up to Sorun as a sign of peace, and then groaned out a bit as he leaned against the table, propping one of his elbows up on it. "I'm... I'm just really gonna miss you. I actually really liked having you as a roommate."
"Learn to fold, Sonic."
"Not just 'cause you picked my socks up," Sonic laughed out, though it was a humorless laugh for the most part. "Hey, listen, I know in the beginning there we weren't really tight an' all, but, well... everything I said back then still holds up, holds up a hundred times over. You're one of the coolest people I've ever met," Sonic confessed, making Sorun's expression shift to surprise. "The way you did everything you did while you were going through all that awful stuff, the way you fought, the way you put others before yourself, it's... you're just really cool, Sorun. Way past it." He began to sheepishly grin as he turned his eyes away from Sorun. "I know asking you to stay would be too selfish of me, but you've been a really great friend. I just wanted to get that out before you left."
"... I feel as if I don't deserve your praise," Sorun admitted. It was Sonic's turn to look surprised as he looked back to Sorun, who had slumped a bit in his seat. "I thank you for your kinds words, Sonic, but... in truth, I simply don't feel somebody like me warrants them."
Sonic's shoulders fell a bit. "Aw, man, this must be serious. You always talk fancy whenever you get serious."
A single, half-amused chuckle left Sorun. "You seem to be the only one who's ever noticed that," he admitted. "Maybe Nicole, too, but she never made mention of it."
"Well, uh... I think it's neat," Sonic said. "It's kinda cute when you do it."
"Never call me or any trait of mine 'cute' in any capacity ever again," Sorun groaned out while shaking his head. The reaction had made Sonic grin a bit, causing even more ire on Sorun's part.
"Just teasin' ya," the Mobian sniggered out, though it died out when he saw the down look on Sorun's face. "What's eatin' at you?" Sonic asked, worry plain in his tone.
What, indeed? Most of Sorun wanted to keep quiet for the rest of his time here just so he didn't have to bother Sonic with some of his problems. But a small part of him managed to reach out and say that they were friends, genuine friends now and not... whatever their relationship had been prior to this. Back when Sorun held all that animosity towards everything and everyone. He didn't have a reason to bottle it all in anymore. It was okay if he talked to Sonic, that part reassured himself.
So, while drumming his fingers along the table, Sorun sighed and began to speak. "I... It's just been a lot," Sorun quietly admitted. "Everything. All of it. Hiding all of that for so long, dying, the... the daily struggle of not just breaking down." Sonic's features grew increasingly strained with worry as Sorun continued to speak. "I really thought that was it when I died. The end of my life, alone in some random, giant metal room. I felt like the worst person in the world. Such a failure, such a bad person, and more than that, I was... I was dying. Was about to die." His eyes shifted down towards the table. "Never been more scared in my entire life. Then I died."
He felt uncomfortable just talking about it, reliving that experience. Sonic didn't look much better, looking both worried and sad as he looked towards Sorun. Even pained, in some capacity, as if seeing Sorun in such a state was hurting Sonic, too. For some reason it made Sorun feel... relieved, of all things. He couldn't tell why. Just that he liked it. The attention he was being given.
"What was it like when you died?" Sonic asked.
"I don't wish to speak of it," Sorun mumbled out. "I went somewhere dark for a bit, then I had to do a bunch of nonsense to pull myself back to life." He paused to briefly reach up and run a hand over his face. "It's not really that that's bothering me," he confessed after lowering his hand and looking back at Sonic. "I feel bad because... well, you never really got to know me. The real me."
"Huh?" Confusion mixed in with the myriad of emotions of Sonic's face as he blinked in confusion, his ears going up straight. "I, uh... I don't get it. Sure I know ya."
Shaking his head, Sorun said, "I don't know if that's true. When I first got here I was just full of so much... confusion, and anxiety, and anger at everything and everyone around me. And then the Emerald happened, I was told I had to kill myself-" Sonic flinched, "- for the sake of the same people that tore me away from my life, and all those feelings were just magnified," Sorun explained. "So much... fear, dread, anger at everything, at the whole world, there were too many emotions for me to list off. Like a cloud smothering me every single day. And I kept it hidden from all of you through that whole time. Every single facet of myself that was eating me alive. And I just felt so... fake the whole time. Hiding the fact I was so depressed for months straight from you all. Like I was wearing a mask all the time just so none of you would worry." He paused. "A really heavy mask. And it just kept getting heavier each day."
"W-well... it's not like it was all fake, was it?" Sonic asked. "I-I mean... I get it was a struggle holding that all in, and I'm glad you're getting it all out now and don't have to do that anymore, but it's not like you were faking your whole personality or anything."
"..." Sorun thinned his lips, looked to the side, and then back at Sonic. "Maybe not," he agreed in a hesitant tone. "Some times were easier than others. Fighting, as much as I disliked it... helped take my mind off it for a time. You and all the others being kind around me helped take that edge off. Nicole was... well, Nicole." The corners of Sorun's mouth lifted up the faintest bit at mention of her name. "Some days were just easier to manage than others, while the others were... a struggle, we'll say. That party, the one I helped Charmy set up, it was... well, that one night was the only night I can think of where I didn't have to wear that mask in front of everybody. It was the one night I could relax and be me."
That and every single time he'd ever been with Nicole, a voice in the back of his mind told him. He didn't want to entertain that thought too much, since those happy memories hurt to look back on now that he was leaving. And furthermore he didn't want to give Sonic more ammo to tease him with.
"See? There ya go." Sonic reached over and softly punched Sorun in the shoulder. "It's not like you not having to hide your feelings anymore makes you a whole other person suddenly. A bit different, sure, maybe, but I like this Sorun way better than the old one. If you feel that bad about it though, then... let's just start over!"
"... Eh?" It was such an unexpected suggestion that it completely blindsided Sorun, enough that he felt like he'd been metaphorically slapped. Sonic, on the other hand, had fully turned towards Sorun, smiling widely while holding his arms out to his sides. It did nothing to assuage the utter bafflement Sorun felt at the claim, causing him to shake his head before speaking. "Start... over...?" Sorun slowly repeated.
Sonic vigorously shook his head up and down. "Mhm! Fresh start! No more bad feelings or secrets or anything getting in the way. Just you and me getting to know each other. Not that all the other times we hung out it wasn't real, but if you really feel like they weren't, then now it can finally be real."
"Pffft... hah hah..." He couldn't resist laughing at the suggestion. At how pure and innocent and sincere it was, and how Sorun hadn't seen it coming at all. He barely even knew what to think of it, at how overly simple it was and just how Sonic the suggestion felt. Like it was something only he would ever suggest, and somehow, Sorun could see it. "It's a little late to be doing something like that, isn't it?" Sorun asked. "I'm leaving in twelve hours. And eight of those hours will be spent sleeping."
Sonic shook his head side to side, not surprising Sorun in the least. "Nah, no way. It's never too late to make a friend," he said, and then extended his open hand out to Sorun. "Come on, just go with it. It'll be good for you."
Looking down at the hand in bemusement, Sorun couldn't help but scoff at the gloved hand being offered to him. It was such a ridiculous notion, restarting when they had so much history between them already, but then again... there was some odd appeal to it Sorun himself couldn't rightly describe. And it wasn't like doing such a thing would erase the memories they'd already made together. This was simply... well, Sorun didn't know what it was. Therapy, maybe. Sonic just trying to help him.
Well, he doubted this would help, but he wouldn't deny Sonic this moment. Not when he was just trying his hardest to help Sorun at the very last minute. He was too grateful and respected him too much to do something like that. So after taking a deep breath, Sorun played along, reach forwards, and grabbed at Sonic's hand with his own.
"Fine, have it your way," Sorun said as his hand and Sonic's gripped each other. "Hello. My name is Sorun... Sorenson..." The last name was mumbled out so quietly that Sorun himself had barely heard it. He'd been too nervous saying his last name to say it at a higher volume. He saw Sonic's small, triangular ears flick, though, indicating he had heard the name. And to Sorun's horror, he began to smirk.
"S-Sorenson?" Trying his best to stifle his growing laughter, Sonic began smiling widely. "Your full name is Sorun Sorenson?"
"Shut up..." Sorun bit out, growing angered at the hedgehog's amusement. It was embarrassing enough knowing he had to live with the name, but at least here he could get away with it by never telling anybody what his last name was. Now that he'd told Sonic it in a moment of weakness he was regretting it immediately and wishing he'd have just lied and made up a cooler last name. Or even better just stolen a cool last name from his mental library of fiction.
"Srnk- okay, alright, I'll take it seriously." Managing to fully subdue his laughter, Sonic took in a deep breath to begin his own "greeting". "Heya, Sorun! I'm..." He paused, and for whatever reason he grew a bit nervous before saying his name. The hesitation was noticed by Sorun, who tilted his head a bit in confusion, though this just caused Sonic to breath out and shake his head. "Ugh, fine, here we go. My name's Ogilvie Maurice Hedgehog, but you can just call me Sonic. In fact please just call me Sonic."
There was a moment where, after Sonic finished, the pair just continued to stare at each other in complete silence. Sonic stared at Sorun in slight apprehension after having just revealed his name, while Sorun looked at Sonic in one part incredulity and one part disbelief. The human's expression soon turned to realization that Sonic was telling the truth based on the look the hedgehog was giving him, and then surprise when he realized just what that name really was. More seconds of silence passed as they continued to look at one another.
And then Sorun burst out into an uncontrollable fit of laughter.
"Ugh...!" The groan Sonic made almost made it sound as if he was in grief in response to Sorun's laughter. The blue Mobian seemingly deflated, his whole upper half flopping onto the table top as he rubbed both sides of his head with his fingers. "Sorun, man, come on..."
"Ogilvie! Ogilvie of all things!" He couldn't help banging his fist on the table. Sorun's laughter was so intense he nearly fell out of the chair he was sitting on, which would have left him laughing so hard on the floor he wouldn't have been able to get up. He managed to avoid that fate, though, by some means. It didn't detract from the fact Sorun found Sonic's name to be the most hilarious thing in the world at the moment. "ha-ha-ha-ha! I-I've never- that's just too funny!"
Sonic didn't find it nearly as amusing. With his chin pressing against the table he stared up at Sorun, a deep frown on his face as well as just the slightest bit of red peaking out from his tan mouth fur from embarrassment. Fortunately for both Sonic's sake and Sorun's lungs, the laughter began to subside.
"Ha... ah, man." Wiping away a tear with his finger, a large smile still on his face, Sorun looked at Sonic with his own teasing grin on his face. "I've never even heard of that name before. That's a new one for me. I don't even know if I can think of a name that tops that one."
"Oh, like yours is so much better!" Sonic slammed his palms on the table to lift himself back up to a upright sitting position. "What kind of parent gives their kid a name that sounds like the family name!?"
"Same kind that names their kid Ogilvie?" Sorun jokingly remarked, causing Sonic to roll his eyes away from Sorun. "She thought it'd be funny, I guess," Sorun said in a slightly more serious tone. "My mother was caught up on the whole Latin thing and, I dunno, guess she picked out the name 'cause she thought it fit, or... yeah, I don't really know. I'll ask her when I get back."
"Yeah, some sense of humor your mom's got." Sonic's eyes drifted back to Sorun's face. "Your dad went along with that name, too?"
"..." The sudden shift in Sorun's mood was enough that Sonic was almost startled by it. His question made the smile that was on Sorun's face drop off instantly, and a slightly cloudy expression overtook Sorun's previous one. "Don't wanna talk about him."
"Huh? Sorun-?"
"Sonic, seriously. Drop it."
There wasn't any anger or malice behind Sorun's request. Not even sadness, which just went on to make Sonic look confused. He couldn't tell what Sorun was feeling just from listening to his words alone, and looking at his face didn't bring Sonic any answer, either. He couldn't tell what was going through Sorun's mind, seeing that vacant, downcast look he had. But then the human teen shook his head, returned his expression back to normal, and then locked eyes with Sonic. There wasn't any evidence on his face Sonic could see of the sudden mood change that had happened seconds prior.
"Sorry. That's a bad subject for me," Sorun quietly apologized. He made a small sigh and sat back further in his seat. "Sorry again if I brought the mood down."
"Nah, it's... it's fine." Sonic turned to the side briefly to let out an awkward cough. "So... names..." He said in an attempt to alleviate the growing tension.
"Yeah. Names." Still leaning back in his chair, Sorun reached forwards and began to idly tap his fingers against the table. "Our parents are evidently pretty terrible at picking out names."
"Ah, I wouldn't go that far..." Sonic denied with a slight chuckle. "Tell ya what. I'll never use your last name or tell anybody it if you never say my real name in front of anybody."
"I'll agree to that." The mood was already beginning to turn lighter as, thankfully, what happened just a minute earlier began to be forgotten by the two. That's what Sorun perceived when he saw the smile beginning to return to Sonic's face. The less said about that, the better as far as he was concerned.
And then the mood shifted entirely when Sonic sat straight up in his seat as his eyes opened widely. Sorun reacted by jumping slightly in his seat.
"Oh, shoot! I just realized!" Sonic exclaimed. "I never taught you the handshake!"
"The... handshake?" Sorun echoed. "What handshake?"
"The Freedom Fighter handshake!" Sonic said, as if that alone explained everything. "It's a handshake we, uh... okay we made it when we were all kids and starting out the whole thing, but it stuck with us all the way from then to present. I figured, well, you're a Freedom Fighter, so you should get to know it, too."
"It's a bit last-minute to be teaching me the super secret handshake, ain't it?" Sorun pointed out with a tilt of his head, though a small, amused grin appeared on his face. "I don't think-"
Sorun was interrupted when Sonic reached towards him and grabbed at one of Sorun's wrists. He felt some of his joints lock up instantly from the unexpected contact, but otherwise he did nothing but silently watch as Sonic brought their hands together.
"Nah-nah-nah, it's okay," Sonic assured him. "Think of it as something to remember us by. Now here's how it goes, so pay close attention, okay?"
Sorun did so, expecting to see some convoluted, over the top handshake that he'd have a hard time copying as he watched Sonic move his hand while Sorun himself mimicked the movements with his own hand. He was severely disappointed to find that the coveted Freedom Fighter handshake was, by all means, a fairly bog-standard handshake. Enough to the point that Sorun had to wonder if Sonic was messing with him.
"Alright, so we fist bump up like this, then down, then we center it, then you take your finger and-"
"Sonic, this is just an ordinary set of fist bumps with a finger twirl mixed in," Sorun deadpanned as he copied the hedgehog's hand motions. "This is the most lackluster secret handshake I've ever seen."
"Oh, come on! We didn't even get to the part where we lock pinkies and then do the thumbs-up at the end! You have to see it first!" Sonic complained, right as they reached the aforementioned steps of the handshake.
Looking completely unimpressed, Sorun shook his head and rolled his eyes to the ceiling. "I can tell you made this when you were kids," he commented. "I know a whole bunch of complicated handshakes on Earth that would put this one to shame."
"Oh, and you're suddenly such an expert?"
"I'd like to consider myself a sommelier of overly complex handshakes. Me and my group of pals back home used to make up a bunch for funsies."
"Somme-what now?" Sonic's eyes narrowed a bit. "... That's not a real word. You made that word up just to confuse me."
Sorun snorted in amusement. "I really didn't. You know, you should be thankful I'm teaching you all these new words, Sonic. I heard girls like guys who have a vocabulary that contains more than just three-syllable words."
"Man, whatever. I try to do something nice for a guy..." Sonic mumbled out, sighing a bit and shaking his head. "Alright, alright. If the handshake doesn't interest ya, Mr. Wordsmith, then I'll leave you with something else."
Once again Sorun found his wrist being grabbed by Sonic's hand. He didn't act surprised like the first time, and made no outward reaction as Sonic jumped off his chair and pulled Sorun all the way into the house's living room. The room itself was vacant, save for Sonic's pet dog, which was sleeping in a small bed in the corner of the room. He was practically forced to sit on the couch by Sonic, though right after he'd released Sorun's wrist and then disappeared somewhere in a blue speed blur. Sorun stared off in the direction Sonic had run towards, blinking in confusion, but then merely shrugged as he sat back against the couch.
Not even two seconds later Sonic had returned, this time clutching something in his hands. A guitar, Sorun had recognized with a disbelieving scoff. A plain-looking one, but a guitar nonetheless. Sonic sat down in the spot right next to Sorun, fiddling with some of the tuning knobs meanwhile and strumming a few of the strings to make sure it was tuned.
"You play guitar?" Sorun asked, half skeptical and half impressed by the mere sight of the instrument.
"Ah-huh," Sonic confirmed with a nod. "You ever try an instrument?"
"No, never," Sorun answered with a shake of his head. "Thought of picking up violin, but, eh... I wasn't really serious about it. Would have cut into my video game time anyways."
"Ahhh. 'Course." Giving Sorun a knowing smirk, Sonic strummed his fingers along the guitar's strings. A small, melodic tune flowed out as a result. "I'm a bit out of practice, actually, but I wanted to play all the same." His fingers began to continually strum along the instrument's strings. "I dunno. I just wanted to relax and do one last thing with you before you left. You don't mind, do you?"
"Not a bit." Kicking one leg over the other, Sorun's back sunk further into the couch while at the same time he interlaced his fingers behind his head. "Play away, Sonic."
And so he did. Sorun was the furthest thing from a music connoisseur, but at the same time internet back on Earth, as well as various forms of media, made Sorun's ears very traveled when it came to music. Sonic playing a simple guitar didn't much compare to the hundreds of songs, music tracks, and game OSTs he'd heard in his life on Earth. Even so, Sonic wasn't half bad. Pretty good, actually. The simple notes being played out by the guitar certainly had a charm to them. It was nice. Calming.
As far as his final night on Mobius went, this wasn't a bad way at all to be spending it. Sorun found himself actually enjoying Sonic's playing after a short time, and eventually Sonic even began humming a song under his breath. It made Sorun happy, oddly enough. Sitting there, relaxing next to a friend as he played his music. He could have fallen asleep right there he felt so peaceful.
It was a nice way to end things.
"Well... looks like this is it. Goodbye, Mobius."
