'How the hell did everything go to hell so fast?!' Granger thought as he gloomily drank beer at his home.
The day before, everything was okay. The team had a case, he had gone to Hetty's office, talking as always. Then Hetty got a call from an old JAG friend saying that they were having an unwanted visit.
An unruly politician named Duggan had shown up, and fired everyone for not being able to find the mole. Not only that, he tried to turn both him and Hetty against each other.
The worst part of it all: Hetty seemed ready to give up instead of fight back.
Hours earlier, the agents had managed to get overseas without getting caught, but were also involved in a helicopter crash, and Kensi was badly injured.
That night in the armory, he couldn't stand seeing his partner, who is usually the first to say 'Fight Back!', abandon her team so easily, so. He advised her to think of her team before giving up entirely.
Then, after escaping the office with the meerkats out of one the secret exits, Nell got a text from Hetty with a chess move indicating that she had given herself up as the mole.
Now, they had an injured agent, job statuses were uncertain, and his partner was in trouble, and he couldn't do anything to help her.
All he could was drink and hope Hetty would be okay, and also hope that she had made the right choice.
