Dark Kingdom 60

At first, she thought she had passed out again. That seemed to be a normal defense reaction of her body in case of danger. As soon as she was choked by fear, her brain shut down. But at the latest, when something, or someone, pulled at her, she realized that this was definitely not a subconscious dream in her unconsciousness. She heard a babble of voices, a stifled gasp. And suddenly she was back on her feet. "What's going on here?" several people shouted in confusion. Usagi could see absolutely nothing. She had to rely entirely on her remaining senses. "Don't let that bitch get away!" shouted Sapphire. Someone grabbed her arm. Instinctively, she wanted to swat it away, but was pulled against a warm body. A hand placed itself over her mouth. Usagi could not resist, was simply dragged along, literally dragged down the stairs. "Take care of that fucking light!", Sapphire yelled as loud as if he was still right behind her. Briefly, the thought flashed through Usagi's mind that her supposed savior was actually Sapphire. But as the volume of his commands faded, so did the fear in her chest. Even outside the partitioned area was absolute darkness. Usagi heard only wild screaming and shrieking women. It was absolute chaos. But she was safe. A familiar warmth flooded her body. Her savior. Mamoru. Once again he had come to her rescue. Only after seemingly endless minutes had they escaped through the throng of frightened people outside. At first, Usagi was almost blinded by the bright streetlights and the glaring headlights of the passing cars. Mamoru pulled her into an unobserved side alley. Here they could catch their breath. And she could thank her rescuer. Once again. She was already about to fall into his arms when she looked up into his face in surprise and staggered back a step. "You?" ,

Usagi stammered, startled. "Are you all right?" , asked Diamond with honest concern, grasping her hands. "Yes. I think so.", Usagi was far too confused to pay attention to possible injury or pain. It wasn't Mamoru who had helped her, as he usually did, but Diamond. This was crazy. Hadn't she been quite sure she could sense his presence? "I was almost too late," Diamond ran his hands through his hair. "If that guy let you..." , he broke off, turning away from her. He really blamed himself. The woman he loved. Usagi repeated Sapphire's words over and over in her head. "Diamond." ,

she whispered, "Thank you." Before she really realized it, he had pulled her into his arms. She didn't move. At least at first. Oddly enough, she actually enjoyed his warmth. After everything that had happened, she felt safe and protected. A few headlights flashed on. Usagi held her hand protectively over her eyes. "Are you guys done then?" , a dark male voice asked. "Mamoru!", Usagi stated, startled. He was standing next to a car she didn't recognize. A red BMW, she realized, when he finally dimmed his headlights. Rooted to the spot, she stopped as she recognized his face. His mine was hard, his eyes narrowed to slits. Usagi felt guilty, caught. She looked at Diamond, who for once was not playing it cool as usual. His gaze was fixed on the floor. She could perceive a redness in his face. Had this happened when he had saved her? Involuntarily she raised her hand, touched the wound with her fingertips. Diamond gave her a wry smile, "I guess I deserved that."

"Did Mamoru do that?" , asked Usagi in shock. She turned to the black-haired man, who tapped his foot impatiently. "Could we possibly settle this somewhere else?", Mamoru pointed them in. Though it bubbled up inside her, Usagi knew he was right. Sapphire and his people could discover her at any moment. But she would insist on the conversation anyway.
