Marianna was reading a book outside as a cover for waiting for the mailman. She heard the truck pull up and place some mail in the box, she waited till he walked away then hurried over and opened the mailbox pulling out the mail. She looked at the names as she flipped through them, her goal was to find and read Callie's G.E.D letter. She wanted Callie to pass it but didn't want to be around for the rest of the day if Callie failed again, of course she had failed to taken in the fact Callie would be annoyed at her for opening her mail. Callie could check online but she decided to wait for the letter instead of checking online this time as she was trying to delay knowing if she failed again. Marianna found the letter and quickly opened it.
Marianna jumped in shock when a voice demanded to know what she was doing. Marianna turned around to see Stef standing behind her. Before Marianna could respond Stef saw the letter and quickly figured out what it was. Stef looked behind her then turned back to Marianna.
"Well what does it say" said Stef impatiently.
Marianna was speechless as she hadn't been expecting this turn of events. Stef rolled her hand telling Marianna to continue. Marianna looked down at the letter and began reading.
"She got a 200, is a 200 good?" asked Marianna.
Stef grabbed the letter and read it herself with a smiling forming on her face.
"200 points gives her collage credit" said Stef practically laughing.
Marianna's face lit up with a smile. She knew Callie would be annoyed that they went through her mail but when she heard the news she would be ok with it. Marianna grabbed the letter then bolted inside followed by Stef. Marianna found Callie and Lena watching tv but her smile faded when she saw Lena's horrified expression. Callie was the first to speak.
"Your church burned down last night" said Callie.
Marianna looked at the tv and saw the former building that had been her current church reduced to rubble. A list of names scrolled past of those who died including Pastor Stevens, his wife and Lee as well as a few other church members.
"A seventh body was found in the basement, badly burned and with the teeth smashed in from falling debris making identification near impossible but it is believed to be a homeless induvial who had sought shelter, Grant Steven has yet to be found and is currently believed to be responsible for the arson and the 7 counts of murder, if you see this induvial report them immediately" explained the news reporter.
"Marianna I'm so sorry" said Callie rolling over and hugging her.
"You got a 200 on your G.E.D" said Marianna in shock.
"I should be mad at you for going through my but it can wait till tomorrow" said Callie who wasn't upset at all, mostly hoping Marianna would be soon treating her like she used to.
Stef and Lena got up and hugged the girls, embracing them in a mama sandwich. They hadn't heard Jude came in behind them but he stood and watched the news. He smiled to himself as he knew that hadn't been a homeless person but Grant. It seemed the universe agreed with him. He should make sure no one hurts his sisters again and if they do...
