"We should be getting close to returning to Ecruteak City." Laby informed the gang as they walked down the path.
"Won't the Kimono Girls know that we've returned once we enter the city?" Molly asked. "They said that they have a special bell that rings whenever he's around."
"That's true." Ash nodded. "They'll probably be expecting me."
Three flashes came from his belt as the Legendary Beasts emerged. "In that case, why don't we carry you the rest of the way?" Kirei suggested. "It would be faster than just walking."
"I would be actually appreciate that." Misty said. "My feet are getting a little tired."
"Alright, then." Ash nodded, agreeing to the suggestion. He was about to mount Kirei when a Psybeam came out of nowhere, forcing the two to dodge away from each other.
"Where did that come from!?" Glimmer yelped at the sudden attack, while Ash and his Moemon immediately went into alarm.
"I've found you, Ash Ketchum." A voice said as a man in purple with a white cape came out from the trees, along with an Alakazam.
"Oh no, not you again..." Kirei groaned, immediately recognizing the man.
"Do you know this guy, Kirei?" Pia asked.
"Is he that stalker Vulcanus told us about?" Es asked, frowning.
"Yes, he is." Kirei frowned, showing her displeasure in the new man's presence.
"Um, who are you?" Ash asked.
"I am Eusine, a researcher of Legendary Moemon." The man introduced himself, his gaze fixated more towards Kirei than him. "I have been researching Suicune for far longer than you have. I am the one you should catch her! It is my destiny!"
"You can see why I don't like him." Kirei said, shaking her head with a groan. "He's put himself in a delusion where he believes himself worthy of me, when he is nothing like how Tidus was."
"It's gotten to the point that he'll go anywhere she has been." Vulcanus added in, glaring at Eusine. "He's been nothing but an annoyance."
"That is why I demand that you relinquish your hold of Suicune to me!" Eusine shouted at Ash.
"No way!" Ash immediately refused. "Don't you see that Kirei doesn't even want to be with you!?"
"That is irrelevant to my destiny!"
Pia's mood darkened at Eusine's words. "Yeah, I hate him." She said, her cheeks sparking. Everyone else shared her sentiments, seeing that Eusine only wanted Kirei as a trophy and didn't care about her feelings at all.
"If you do not give her to me, then I will take her by defeating you!" Eusine threatened.
"If it's a battle you want, then you got one." Ash said darkly. "Get 'em, Pia."
"With pleasure." Pia said, cracking her knuckles as she stood in front of Ash.
"Hmph. This Moemon will surely defeat your Pikachu." Eusine said confidently, sending out a Dugtrio.
"A Ground Moemon?" Pia asked, smirking. "Good. I was actually wanting to test something."
"Test?" The smallest Dugtrio repeated.
"Test what?" The middle Dugtrio asked.
"You know Electric moves won't work on us, right?" The tallest Dugtrio asked.
Pia smirked. "That's the test. Thunderbolt!" She fired a bolt of electricity at the Dugtrio.
Eusine was about to gloat about Pia stupidly using an Electric move against a Ground Moemon, only for it to be cut off by said Ground Moemon screaming in pain. That was when his eyes widened when he saw that the Thunderbolt was actually shocking his Dugtrio, and when it stopped, all three fell to the ground, unconscious and charred. "What madness is this!?" He shouted in disbelief. "Electric moves should have no effect against Ground Moemon!"
"Pia actually has a brand-new ability that's active when she's using the Light Ball." Ash explained, smirking alongside Pia. "For now, we're calling it Overconductor, and its effect is the same as Scrappy, except with Electric moves and Ground Moemon."
"You...!" Eusine growled, returning his fallen Moemon and sending out an Electrode.
"My turn, huh?" Electrode asked, smirking. "Alright, I'll take her-"
"Maru, Explosion!"
Everyone, including Maru, was shocked by Eusine's command. "Wh-What?" Maru stuttered, looking at her trainer with a hurt expression. "But-"
"Do it!" Eusine shouted at her, making her flinch.
"...Yes, Master." Maru said sadly, giving in to his command. Before she could explode, though, she felt the need to sleep take over and slumped to the ground. Pia used Hypnosis.
"It'll be easier for you this way." Pia said softly to Maru. She then picked her up with Psychic and slammed her into the ground, knocking her out.
"Pia realized her psychic powers early." Ash said to Eusine before he could complain, glaring at him angrily. "That aside, what the hell!? Why did you tell your Moemon to use Explosion almost immediately despite her feelings!?"
"As long as I have Suicune, nothing else matters!" Eusine shouted, sounding like he was insane.
Kirei growled angrily. "He's worse than I thought."
Eusine sent out a Gengar next. "Use Hypnosis!" He commanded.
"Electric Terrain." Pia sent waves of electricity into the ground, causing it to turn yellow with electricity crackling from it. Staying on the ground, the hypnotic waves hit her, but with zero effect. "Thunderbolt." She then fired an empowered bolt of electricity at the Gengar, knocking her unconscious immediately.
"Raina!" Eusine sent out a Rhydon next. "Your Pikachu's new ability may allow her to shock Ground Moemon, but I doubt she can bypass Lightning Rod." He said, smirking.
"True." Ash admitted. "However, we have other moves to help with that. Grass Knot!" He commanded. Pia's eyes glowed green as she summoned vines from the ground that grabbed Raina and slammed her into the ground, knocking her unconscious.
Eusine growled angrily before sending out a Magcargo. "Rock Slide!" He commanded. Maggie summoned rocks that fell from the sky at Pia, only for the Pikachu to catch them all with Psychic.
"Back at ya." Pia said, hurling the rocks back at Magcargo, burying her in the rubble. "Oh, a bit of a heads up. I can use Aura, too." She told Eusine, before firing an Aura Sphere at the rocks that Magcargo was trapped under, causing an explosion that clearly knocked her out.
At this point Eusine was red with anger. "Azuki, deal with this rat!" He shouted at his Alakazam.
"Very well." Azuki said, though she looked clearly worried about her trainer's mental state.
"I'm a Pikachu, not a Rattata." Pia said half-jokingly.
"Psybeam!" Azuki fired a rainbow-colored beam of psychic energy at Pia, only for Pia to easily overpower it with Thunder and hit her, knocking her unconscious.
"This battle is over, and Ash has won." Vulcanus declared, growling at Eusine. "Now begone from our prescence!" She fired a Fire Blast of Eusine, forcing him to run away in fear.
"Good riddance." Serena huffed.
However, their problems seemed to only be beginning, as Team Rocket had seen the whole thing. "That weird guy seemed to really want the twerp's Suicune." James said, based on his observations of Eusine's behavior.
"He's practically obsessed with her." Jessie said with slight disgust. "What a creep."
Meowth seemed to have an idea. "You know, maybe we could his creepiness to our advantage." She said.
Jessie and James looked at the feline. "How so?" James asked.
"We go find him and promise him our 'services' to help him catch Suicune." Meowth explained her plan. "We could even throw in the twerp's other two Beasts as a bonus."
Jessie smirked. "I see. And once we grab all three Legendary Beasts, we ditch him and keep them all to ourselves."
"His 'destiny' will become our fortune!" James declared. With their plan decided, the trio left to find Eusine.
As they walked back into Ecruteak, the gang was greeted by a familiar face.
"Hello, Ash." Greeted Morty, Ecruteak's Gym Leader.
"Morty!" Ash called, surprised to see him.
"Were you expecting us?" Pia asked.
"I knew you would come back, since you have to return here to reach Mahagony Town for the Icicle Badge." Morty replied.
"Good point."
"So, how goes your adventures?" Morty asked. "I happened to hear that you caught Suicune."
"Who did you hear that from?" Ash asked.
"From a friend of mine. He researches Legendary Moemon like me, however, he has an obsession with Suicune...one that I'm beginning to find unhealthy and worrisome."
Ash frowned at Morty's description, immediately thinking of one person. "Morty...your friend's name doesn't happen to be Eusine, does it?"
"...I take it you've met him?" Morty asked worriedly.
"Yeah, and he was a creep." Pia said with disdain. "He was spouting nonsense about how he thinks he knows everything about Kirei and how it's his destiny to catch her, and he even threatened to take her from Ash in a battle. I swept his entire team easily, but he made it clear in the battle that he didn't care about his Moemon, only wanting Kirei."
Morty sighed sadly. "I was afraid of that. Hopefully, he doesn't do anything worse."
"Don't count your Torchic before they hatch." Misty said, frowning. "People like him tend to do worse as they get more desperate to get what they want."
"I can't deny that." Morty admitted. "Anyway, why don't we pay a visit to the Kimono Girls? No doubt they're expecting."
"They probably are, considering they have a bell that lets them know when I enter the city." Ash nodded, remembering that the Kimono Girls have a lot of different bells.
"So, you've caught all three Legendary Beasts." Tamao said, looking at Sanda, Vulcanus and Kirei as they enjoyed their tea.
"Yep." Ash nodded.
"Well, congratulations are in order." Sumomo said. "You have succeeded in capturing the Legendary Moemon of Ecruteak City."
"Yes, he did." Sanda nodded. "And I'm sure he'll be much better than my old trainer."
This caught the attention of Morty and the Kimono Girls. "Old trainer?" Koume repeated.
"Oh yeah. That's something I learned from Kirei." Ash said. "Apparently, before they became Raikou, Entei and Suicune, Sanda, Vulcanus and Kirei were a Jolteon, Flareon and Vaporeon, each with a different trainer."
Morty, the Kimono Girls and their Moemon were shocked at the revelation. "Is this true?" Morty asked.
"Yes." Kirei nodded. "We were happy with our old trainers... Well, Vulcanus and I were at least." She clarified, casting a worried glance at Sanda.
The Beast of Thunder sighed. "It's fine."
Satsuki frowned. She could tell that Raikou did not have a caring trainer back then. "So, you all had different trainers, but then the storm that destroyed the original Tin Tower happened."
"That's correct." Vulcanus confirmed. "Upon reincarnation, we had lost all memories of our former lives. But we had later regained them, with Kirei being the first of us."
"Did you try to reunite with your trainers after that?" Dawn asked.
"We did, but we got different results." Vulcanus answered. "I had a heartfelt reunion with my trainer, but Sanda's...completely forgot about her." The Kimono girls frowned at that. "Kirei actually had the best results out of all of us. Even after we were reincarnated, her trainer had immediately recognized her. She became his Moemon again and the two fought together and became Champion."
"Wow." River said. "Sounds like your trainer really loved you Miss Kirei."
"He did." Kirei smiled, before showing her necklace. "He even gave me this necklace before he died, as well as one final wish for me to find a trainer who would love me just like he did."
The Kimono Girls smiled happily for Kirei. "Well, we are glad you have joined the Chosen One and fulfilled your old trainer's wish." Tamao said.
"By the way, how are things with Sakuya?" Morty asked, curious about how if Ash freed his Celebi yet.
"Sakuya told us that there was a shrine dedicated to Celebi in the forest near Arborville, so we decided to go there." Ash told. "There I was able to use the Rainbow and Silver Wings to destroy the GS Ball and free Sakuya."
"That's wonderful!" Sakura said happily. Morty had told the Kimono Girls about what Ash had told him regarding the events of the original Tin Tower's destruction. They were appalled that a man would capture a Mythical Moemon and use their powers for evil, so they were happy to hear that Sakuya was finally free from her prison.
"Yeah, and she decided that she wanted to stay with me afterwards, so I can officially say that she's my Moemon." Ash added. Morty and the Kimono Girls understood Sakuya's decision to stay.
Everyone then went outside for some fresh air, however their moment of peace was soon ruined. "Ash Ketchum." A voice spoke as they saw Eusine approach them with a smirk. "How nice to meet you here."
"Eusine." Ash growled.
"Not you again." Kirei glared. She had just about enough with Eusine.
Morty sighed. "Eusine, I understand that you've wanted to catch Kirei, but she's already chosen Ash." He tried to reason with Eusine.
Unfortunately, Eusine was being unreasonable. "Shut up, Morty!" He snapped. "I must have Suicune! It is my destiny!"
"Such delusional thinking." Tamao frowned displeasingly.
"Now, this time will be different. This timel, Suicune will be mine!" Eusine declared.
"Go ahead and try." Pia challenged, sparking with electricity. "I'll just sweep your team again."
Eusine chuckled darkly, which confused everyone. "Unfortunately for you, I'm not alone this time."
The moment he said that, a giant purple mech with a glass belly suddenly landed on the ground behind him surprising everyone. "What the hell!?" Spark shouted.
"Prepare for trouble!" Spoke a female voice from the mech that the gang knew.
"And make it double!" Spoke a male voice from the mech that the gang also knew.
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"And James!"
"Team Rocket, blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth, that's right!" Meowth spoke from the mech, finishing the motto.
"Team Rocket..." Ash growled, clenching his fists angrily as he glared at Eusine. "You actually hired help from TEAM ROCKET!?"
"They humbly offered their assistance, so I decided to accept." Eusine smirked.
"To think you would accept help from criminals..." Morty gritted his teeth, appalled that his friend would stoop this low.
"Now, Team Rocket, capture Suicune!" Eusine ordered, pointing at the Beast of Water.
"Yes, sir!" Jessie and James responded.
"Capturing!" Meowth exclaimed, pressing a button in the mech, making it shoot out four mechanical arms.
"Kirei, dodge!" Ash quickly told her. The Beast of Water didn't need to be told twice and jumped away from the arms.
"Ice Beam!" Kirei fired a freezing beam at the mech, only for the mech to fire a powerful laser blast to cancel it out.
"This isn't one of those mechs we just make on the fly." Jessie smirked.
"We nabbed this from HQ just for the occasion." James revealed.
"And that occasion is to capture your Suicune!" Meowth finished, sending the mech's arms after Kirei again. Kirei dodged the mech's arms, but then Team Rocket fired a laser blast at her, forcing her to dodge and leave herself open for an arm to successfully grab her.
"NO!" Ash shouted with wide eyes.
Eusine laughed. "At last! My destiny shall be realized!" He declared as the glass on the mech opened for Team Rocket to drop Kirei in, having it act like a cage.
"Return Kirei at once!" Tamao demanded, getting ready to send out Dusk.
"I cannot do that. She belongs to me now." Eusine smirked. "But if it helps, she won't be alone."
Hourai's eyes widened. "Oh, don't tell me he plans to-"
"Now, capture Entei and Raikou!" Eusine ordered Team Rocket, confirming Hourai's fears.
"BASTARD!"
"Right-o!" James replied, and then the mech's arms went for Vulcanus and Sanda, forcing them to dodge.
"That does it!" Tamao snarled, sending out Dusk. "Dusk, use Dark Pulse!" She commanded.
"Azuki, Dazzling Gleam!" Eusine commanded, sending out Azuki. The Alakazam released a blast of blinding light to counter of pulse of darkness.
"Vulcanus!" Ash shouted, making Tamao's eyes widen in alarm when she saw that Team Rocket managed to grab Vulcanus.
"This has gone too far!" Morty growled. "Gennia, Shadow Ball!" Gennia emerged from her Moe Ball and fired a sphere of darkness at the mech.
"I'll make use of that." Eusine smirked. "Psychic!" Azuki's eyes glowed at she grabbed the Shadow Ball in a psychic hold before flinging it towards Sanda, knocking the Raikou off-balance and allowing the mech to grab her.
"Shit!" Gennia cursed, unable to accept that her own attack was used against them.
Team Rocket dropped Vulcanus and Sanda with Kirei in the cage-belly. "And now, all three Legendary Beasts are mine!" Eusine declared victoriously.
Morty gritted his teeth. "Eusine, stop! You don't have to do this!" He shouted, once more trying to reason with his friend.
"I won't stop, not now that my destiny is within reach." Eusine refused, before he smriked. "And now, for the icing on the cake. Team Rocket, capture Ho-Oh!"
"What!?" Hourai gasped with shock. Everyone else was shocked that Eusine suddenly set his sights on Hourai, including Team Rocket.
"Wow, he's aiming really big, isn't he?" Jessie asked, whispering among her teammates.
"But if we capture Ho-Oh, the boss will definitely give us a promotion." James reasoned.
"Then let's do it." Meowth smirked. "One Legendary Phoenix coming right up!" She said out loud.
"Not this time!" Ash shouted as Hourai flew around to dodge the arms. "Pia! Es!"
"Right!" Pia nodded, flying up with Es to help Hourai.
"Stop them Azuki!" Eusine commanded. Azuki flew up to meet Ash's starters, but Es knocked her away with Iron Tail, and then Pia fired a Thunderbolt at her to knock her unconscious.
"How's that!?" Pia exclaimed, but then mechanical arms suddenly grabbed her and Es. "Gah!"
"Pia! Es!" Ash gasped with horror.
"What? You thought we wouldn't take the chance to grab your Pikachu and Espeon?" Jessie smirked.
"They'll be our conpensation for our hard work." James smirked.
"And now for the bird!" Meowth declared. Hourai continued dodging the arms the best she could, and just as it looked like she was gonna get caught, something suddenly came out of Ash's shadow and destroyed the arms that wer about to grab her, surprising everyone.
"What was that?" Tomo asked.
"Did that come out of Ash's shadow?" Molly asked.
The mysterious being then suddenly released shadowy fist that destroyed the arms holding Pia and Es, freeing them to Team Rocket's displeasure. The being then landed, allowing everyone to get a good look at her.
The mysterious being looked to be around Pia's height and was primarily wearing black, with a black shirt and black pants. She also wore a black helmet with two weird horns with holes on the top, along with a black scarf. She had short black hair underneath her helmet, and orange eyes.
"A Moemon?" Sakura guessed.
Morty's eyes widened as he looked at her. "That's...That's Marshadow, an extremely rare Mythical Moemon said to reside in the shadows!" He exclaimed, finding it hard to hide his excitement. As a Ghost-type specialist, seeing Marshadow was like a dream come true.
Tamao's eyes widened. "I've heard of Marshadow. It's said she only appears to assist Ho-Oh whenever a wicked heart is after her."
"She must've come to help us, then." Serena realized.
Eusine, however, looked at Marshadow with desire. "The Mythical Moemon Marshadow..." He smirked. "Another Legendary Moemon for me to capture for my destiny!"
"Okay, that's it!" Jessie suddenly exclaimed. "I've just about had enough dealing with you!"
"What?" Eusine asked, turning to the mech. "What are you saying?"
"She's saying there's been a change of plans." James said, deciding that the jig was up.
"We're actually going to keep the Legendaries for ourselves." Meowth revealed.
"WHAT!?" Eusine shouted in outrage.
"Saw this coming." The gang deadpanned, having expected this turn of events.
"This is why you never make deals with criminals." Giselle said matter-of-factly.
"You...You're betraying me!?" Eusine growled. "You would promise to fulfill my destiny only fo fulfill your own selfish desires!?"
"The pot's calling the kettle black, buddy!" Meowth rebuked, calling out Eusine's hypocrisy.
"A creep like you doesn't deserve Suicune, or any Legendary for that matter!" Jessie exclaimed, showing her disgust of him.
"How dare you...!" Eusine snarled, preparing to send out another Moemon, only for Team Rocket to blast him away with their mech.
"Such a creep." Jessie frowned.
"You're telling me..." Kirei muttered.
"Well, now that he's out of the way, time to get back to business!" Meowth exclaimed, the mechanical arms suddenly repairing themselves.
"Marshadow, will you help us save, Kirei, Vulcanus and Sanda?" Ash asked the Mythical Moemon.
"I will help you." Marshadow nodded, speaking with a soft voice.
"Alright." Ash nodded back. "Pia, Es, protect Hourai, but be careful so that you don't also get grabbed!"
"Gotcha!" Pia and Es replied.
"Let's go, Marshadow!" Ash exclaimed, running towards the machine. Team Rocket tried to stop him with laser blasts, but Ash blocked them with an Aura Shield, and then Marshadow fired a Shadow Ball to destroy the laser gun. She then used Shadow Sneak to catch up to Ash. "Focus Punch!" Together, the two focused their power into their fists and punched the glass, shattering it and freeing the Legendary Beasts. At the same time, Pia and Es once again destroyed the mechanical arms.
"Alright!" Molly and Glimmer cheered. Things were turning around in their favor.
"No! We were so close!" Jessie complained.
"Now, destroy that machine!" Ash commanded. "Sanda, Thunder! Vulcanus, Fire Blast! Kirei, Hydro Pump! Hourai, Sacred Fire!" The three Beasts and Hourai used her attack, with Marshadow joining in with Shadow Ball. The five attacks destroyed the machine and sent Team Rocket blasting off once again.
Happy that Team Rocket was dealt with, Kirei hugged Ash. "Thank you for saving us, Ash." She thanked him.
"I'm glad you three are alright." Ash smiled.
"There's still one left." Marshadow said, pointing towards Eusine, who was getting up.
Eusine groaned as he sat up, before he noticed Sanda, Vulcanus and Kirei were standing in front of him, their bodies surging with electricity, fire and wind to show just how angry they were. Scared, he tried to get away, only for Hourai to land right in front of him with a glare that promised death. "I have been tolerable with actions before, but today, you have truly crossed the line." She spoke.
"N-No, please!" Eusine begged, before turning to Morty. "Morty, you gotta help me!"
Morty sighed. "I'm sorry, Eusine, but there's no getting out of this one." He said sadly.
"You tried to steal from the Chosen One, and even hired criminals to assist you." Tamao spoke, narrowing her eyes at Eusine. "You have lost all mercy."
"Farewell." Hourai said, and with a snap of her fingers, Eusine combusted into flames and became nothing of ash.
"Good riddance." Kirei said, happy that a thorn in her side was finally gone.
With the problem settled, Marshadow walked up to Ash. "Chosen One." She greeted. "It's nice to finally meet you in person."
Ash blinked. "Were you watching me?" He asked.
Marshadow nodded. "Ever since you first arrived in Johto. I was watching from within your shadow."
"I see."
"Hold on." Serena piped in. "Does that mean you were watching all the times Ash had sex with his Moemon?"
Marshadow shyly looked away, her face blushing. "...Yes."
"Well, that's embarrassing." Ash said, blushing. "So, why were in my shadow this whole time?"
"I was curious about you." Marshadow answered. "I saw that Ho-Oh had joined you and wanted to know more about you, so I hid in your shadow so that I could see your every move. I learned that you care a lot for all Moemon. So, I decided that I'd like to join you."
"When did you decide this?" Hourai asked out of curiousity.
"When he risked his life to save Raikou." Marshadow answered.
"Interesting." Hourai mused, having thought that was the deciding factor, before turning to her trainer. "What do you think, Ash?"
"Well, she been interested in me for this long." Ash said. "Plus, she helped us defeat Team Rocket and Eusine, so how could I possibly say no?" He looked at Marshadow. "But, I need to know if you're sure about this?"
"I am." Marshadow answered firmly, before giving him a Moe Ball, but this one was green and black. "Use this one. I think it looks nice."
"That's a Dusk Ball." Brock said, identifying the Moe Ball. "It's a Moe Ball usually used at night, or in dark places like caves."
"That sounds perfect for Marshadow, who likes to reside in the shadows." Morty said, understanding Marshadow's preference. Ash nodded and tapped the Dusk Ball on Marshadow, capturing her. After the capture was complete, he sent her back out.
"Name?" Marshadow asked.
"How about Mars?" Ash asked. Marshadow, now named Mars, nodded in acceptance. "Well, welcome to the team." Mars smiled in response.
"I'm already bringing up Mars' data." Laby said, bringing up a digital screen that showed Mars' data.
