"Hey Sally," I said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Shouldn't you be unpacking?" She said while cutting some carrots.
"I didn't bring a lot of stuff," I said quietly. "Do you need any help?"
"Sure, you can cut some potatoes if you want," She gestured toward some potatoes laying on a cutting board in the corner of the counter.
"Okay." I walked over to the potatoes and began chopping away. After I finished the potatoes, I began working on cooking a canned thing of sweet corn.
"It smells good in here," Nico said, walking into the kitchen.
"Thanks," Sally smiled cheerfully.
The next person to walk into the kitchen was Will. "Hey, Trish, you might want to talk to the Stoll's, they're getting mad at each other again." He looked in Sally's direction but she paid him no attention.
"Okay, I'll go see what's the matter. But can you keep stirring the corn please?"
"Sure," Will said as he grabbed the spoon and swirled it around.
"Thanks." I walked into the room the brothers and Will were staying in.
"You're an idiot!" Connor yelled.
"Hey, Hey! What's going on?" I yelled over them.
They turned to me. "Travis said that he's your favorite!" Connor yelled.
"I did not!" Travis yelled back.
I smacked my hand against my forehead. "So that's what this is about?" I whispered, "Look, none of you are my favorite," I said stepping towards them and wrapping my arms around them. "I care about you the same. You're both my brothers and I wouldn't change it for the world. Now, why don't you wash your hands and help me and Sally with dinner?"
"Okay, but what are we having?" They both said.
"I'm not sure."
"Hope it's something good," Travis said to Connor as they both walked out the door and to the bathroom. I walked close behind them and went to the kitchen.
"I should take parenting advice from you!" Sally said surprised. "How did you do that?"
"I don't know, I've been with Coral for most of her life, you just need to be patient with them, make them feel good, and try to make it sound as convincing as you can."
"I thought you said that you've only raised Coral for like half a year?" Nico said.
"No, her dad has been dead for about half a year and I've been taking care of her since then. I've been with her since I got to New York. Her dad would go to work and her mom never paid attention to her so I would watch over her."
"That must have been so much responsibility for someone your age," Sally said, I just shrugged.
Just then the apartment door opened and in came a running Estelle. "Hi, Mommy!"
"Hey, how was daycare?" She responded.
"Fun! Who're all the weird people?" Estelle asked as the Stoll brother walked in.
"This is Travis, Connor, Will, Coral, and you know Nico and Trish," Sally pointed to each of us as she said our names, "they're going to be staying with us for a little while."
"Cool! Can Trish can do my hair every day?" The five-year-old squeaked.
I laughed, "I would love to do your hair."
"Well Estelle," Sally said, "Go get cleaned up and get ready for dinner, it's almost done." Estelle perked up just like Percy does when he hears about food and ran to the bathroom.
The dinner Sally had made was probably one of the best meals I've had in a long time. After dinner, we started settling down a bit.
Nico ended up falling asleep on the couch on Will and we had to carry him to our room. Once Will had set Nico down on his bed, he turned to me. "So, Nico said that we're your OTP."
I looked away, "Uh, yeah."
He walked over to me and stood beside me. "It's funny to think that hundreds, maybe thousands of people who just think we're part of a book."
"Well a year ago, I would have been one of those people," I said.
"Hey, and thanks, Nico told me why you let me come with you."
"It wasn't really a problem, to be honest. Plus Nico would probably have done something stupid if you weren't around."
"True, true."
"Did Nico tell you what happened the other day at McDonald's?" I asked.
"No, I don't think so."
So I went to go on and explain how the lady thought that we were together and how she got really mad and we left just after I made her trip and yelled at her to not cuss. By the end, Will was dying with laughter.
"I knew you guys would get along well. You have more in common than you think."
"People keep saying that but I really don't see how we're similar?" I exclaimed, not too loud so I didn't wake Nico up but loud enough to get my point across.
"Well you do and you might not see it yet but you'll figure it out. Anyways, it's getting late and we should probably rest, especially you, Nico told me how you two are going to train more tomorrow."
"Well, I won't have any trouble getting to sleep that's for sure," I laughed and yawned.
"Well good night," Will said, walking out of the room.
"Night," I said, but I don't think he heard me. I lay down on my bed and soon enough I was fast asleep, I hadn't even bothered to put my blankets on.
