Serving a life sentence in Azkaban for his Lord was an honor to Dolohov. Breaking out and being welcomed back into Voldemort's inner circle was just affirmation of his suffering.
Dolohov's targets before his incarceration were hardened fighters. He'd been brutal in dispatching the Prewetts, and it was only being so thoroughly sated in sadism afterward that led to his capture. Now, his considerable talents were being aimed at teens.
The battle was still a visceral enjoyment, but the challenge was lacking. His side "lost," but Antonin was victorious: a Mudblood's chest was flayed open, and Moody dueled to defeat.
