Sorry for the late update guys! I have had so much exciting stuff happening in my life which included me getting engaged! So I just wanted to switch off and soak it all up. I've also had a little bit of writers block but I think I have gotten past it so I will try and be more frequent. If anyone has suggestions though please feel through to PM me. Might help get my juices flowing, whether it's for this story or a one shot! Thankyou once again for the reviews, I wouldn't be able to keep going without them. Enjoy!
The morning after she had told Jay if felt like a huge weight was lifted off her shoulders. She still wasn't sure what good it done hiding it from him but either way he knew now and they could do this together. Baby steps as he kept telling her.
Jay rolled over and noticed Erin was staring at him, he blinked his eyes until they were open, "Morning you."
"Morning."
"How are we feeling?" He smiled sitting up.
"I'm good, I'm sorry again for not telling you sooner. I'm just scared."
He grabbed her hand and squeezed it, "Me too. But remember, baby steps. We will get through this."
"I want to tell Hank and I somehow want to go on desk duty but I don't want anyone else to know. I can't go through it all again with the sad looks and eggshells if the unthinkable happens again."
"Maybe he can say you have to help out in another district or something? Or maybe he could get you into some classes at the academy? Just until your ready to tell everyone?" Jay suggested.
"Yeah I'll talk to him and I'm sure he will work something out. I think I'm his favourite." Erin chuckled.
"Yeah maybe just a little," Erin cockily smiled, "We had a visitor last night, I'm surprised you didn't wake up."
Jay frowned, "What, Zeus joined us?"
"No, he knows better. It was Lily."
"Seriously?"
Erin nodded, "Yep. It's funny I was actually talking to another mother at her daycare the other day, she was telling me her daughter is going through the late night visitor stage. I went on about how Lily is really good when it comes to sleep."
"Talked to soon."
"No matter what we do she continues to climb out of her crib, we might have to think about a big girl bed."
Jay raised an eyebrow, "Er, she isn't even two and a half yet."
"Yeah but I'd rather do that then she injure herself. It's happening a couple times a week."
"Where has my little girl gone."
Erin patted him on the shoulder as she stood up, "Can't stay little forever babe."
"You going to check on her?"
"Yeah I will get her ready, you jump in the shower then we will swap and you can make breakfast."
He grabbed her hand before she walked off, "When are we going to tell Lil?"
"When I really start to show?" Erin gave him a questioning look as he nodded, "I just don't want her to get her hopes up again, and she's a little older now she might understand more."
"I agree with you one hundred percent. I love you babe and I am really happy about this. We just have to stay positive."
She nodded forcing back tears, "Love you too."
Erin walked to Lily's room quietly, creaking the door open, she noticed Lily standing in her crib waiting for her mother, arms wide open, "Good morning princess."
"Morning mummy."
"Have a good sleep?" Lily nodded, "What do you think Lil bear, about a big girl bed?"
"Like mummy's and daddy's?"
"A little smaller but yeah." Erin smiled.
"But I want to sleep with you and daddy."
"That can't happen Lil, you need to be a big girl and stay in your bed."
"Otay. Sorry mummy."
Erin squeezed her daughter tightly before putting her on the ground, "It's okay sweetheart. Now what do you want to wear today huh?"
Jay came out of the shower all freshly shaven and dressed, Lily's eyes lit up when she saw him, "Daddy!"
"Morning Lil bear. How's my girl today?" He kissed the top of her head as she sat in her seat at the dining table.
"I thought I was your girl?" Erin smiled while she packed Lily's bag.
"Your both my girls, fair and square." Jay winked.
"Well she's pretty much ready, just needs some oatmeal, I'm going to have a quick shower." She said passing Jay before she walked off, he kissed her cheek quickly.
"Do I ever tell you how beautiful you are?"
Erin put her fingers to her face, pretending to think, "I'm not so sure," Jay rolled his eyes, "Kidding. Maybe once or twice."
"Well your beautiful and I'm never going to stop telling you that."
"How did I ever get so lucky?"
"Oh it was definitely that toughness and badassery you had that got me interested and I've been hooked ever since." Jay flirted.
She chuckled, "Too easy Halstead, way to easy."
"You love it."
"I guess I do." She smiled.
Erin and Jay walked into the district smiles on their faces, although the could tell Erin's was a little forced and mainly a brave face he couldn't be happier. Of course he was scared but he was putting every bit of hope into this.
They walked up the steps and greeted everyone, after that Erin walked into Hanks office, "Morning Hank."
He leant back in his chair, "Morning. Everything okay?"
"So the worries written all over my face then?" She forced a fake laugh.
He stood up and walked around to sit next to her on the couch, "What's going on?"
"I'm pregnant." She said with barely any emotion in her voice and all she was staring at was her hands that were fiddling with each other.
"This is a good thing isn't it?"
"I'm just so scared."
He grabbed her hand giving it a comforting squeeze, "Just gotta stay positive kiddo, I know it's hard."
"I'm trying to be so brave and positive for Jay but I just feel like I have to be realistic in the fact that I could lose this baby."
Hank sighed, "I know how hard it is Erin and your not going to believe everything is okay until that little baby is put in your arms but you just have to stay positive and Jay is going to help you through that, he is a great man."
"I know, I wouldn't be able to do any of this without him."
"And don't forget you have me and this whole team. Lean on us."
"That's what I wanted to talk about, I don't want to tell anyone just yet, I'm only six weeks. But I don't want to be out there risking anything, so I was wondering if you'd be able to get me doing some classes at the academy or something?"
Hank nodded, "I will see what I can do. Will you come back on desk duty when your ready to tell people?"
"Of course, I just don't want people giving me petty looks again if it doesn't work out."
"I understand. It'll be okay. We will get through this."
"Thankyou Hank, I love you, you know that?"
"Love you too kiddo."
