Chapter 63: A Girl Named Lime
A young girl named Lime was crawling along a tree branch as she tried to reach an apple.
"Come on."Lime murmured impatiently. "Just a little bit closer..."
However, when Lime reached at the end of the branch, it snapped beneath her weight causing her to fall into the raging river directly below.
Luckily for her, Gohan in his Super Saiyan form was flying overhead and saved Lime from drowning.
Gohan placed Lime safely back on land.
"Are you okay?"Gohan asked.
Lime noticed Gohan touching her breast (unintentional), causing her to become angry and embarrassed.
"How dare you!"Lime snapped angrily. "You fiend!"
"What?"Gohan said in confusion. "For saving you?"
Lime sticked her tongue out before running away and leaves Gohan wondering about what he did wrong.
"Go back where you came from!"Lime shouted.
Chika in her Super Saiyan form arrived and landed next to her twin brother.
"Hey Gohan, what happened?"Chika asked.
"I don't know."Gohan answered with a unsure expression. "I saved that girl from drowning and then she got angry for no reason."
"Right and did you check where your hands actually were?"Chika questioned with a frown.
"What?"Gohan asked.
"Never mind."Chika sighed. "Let's go."
Gohan and Chika flew up in the air and spotted a shelter building in the forest.
"Whoa, I don't remember that being there."Gohan said.
"It must be new."Chika complemented.
Then the Son twins arrived to a town called Chazke Village in the forest, but didn't see anyone around.
The place looked completely deserted.
"Aw man, nobody is around."Gohan commented. "Cell must've scared all of the people away."
"At this point, we'll never get mum's shopping done."Chika scoffed. "This is now the fourth city that we found empty."
"But where did all the people go?"Gohan asked.
"Hmm..."Chika started.
Gohan and Chika notice a van parked near one of the shops causing them to investigate.
The two siblings entered a shop where two men (Kasdan and Burdwell) asking the owner for free food to take to the shelter to be protected from Cell.
"Now what do you need money for you fool?!"Kasdan demanded. "The world then?"
"Perhaps, but no one knows that for sure."Mr Lao replied. "Especially not you."
"Hey! Shut your mouth, old man!"Burdwell argued. "We're gonna take it!"
Kasdan pushed Burdwell away before looking at Mr Lao.
"Look we'll trade them for it."Kasdan insisted. "You can have three parts of the shelter with us, what do you say?"
"That shelter is a bad idea."Mr Lao declared. "I said that from the start."
Gohan and Chika went inside the shop.
"Excuse us."Gohan responded.
"What do you small fries think your doing?"Burdwell questioned.
"We are just here to get stuff for our mum."Chika answered.
"Leave them, Burdwell."Kasdan ordered. "They are just young punks. Buzz off, kids. We are closed."
"Huh?"Gohan said in confusion. "Then what's all this?"
"The Borbonne Family homie for the shelter."Burdwell answered.
"Stop your none sense right now!"Mr Lao demanded and looked at the Son twins. "Tell me, children. What are the things that you need?"
"Okay."Chika answered and took out the list. "We will need-"
"Ugh! Listen what's your problem, old man?!"Kasdan interrupted. "Are you deaf?! We need this to survive! Not just us for everyone! All the villagers are counting on you! Give us the food!"
"Why should I?"Mr Lao questioned. "So the Borbonne family could make the villagers work for it!"
"Looks like his gonna need a little persuasion."Burdwell suggested evilly.
"You wouldn't dare!"Mr Lao growled.
Burdwell reached out to kick a shelf that contained bottles of materials, but Chika angrily threw him out of the store and he landed hard on the ground.
Kasdan looked at Chika with a frightened expression.
"Ahh!"Lime's voice rang out. "His back!"
"Cell has come back!"Kasdan panicked.
"What?"Gohan retorted. "Cell's been here?"
"Darn right!"Kasdan agreed and ran out of the store. "I knew he would come back! Let's get out of here, Burdwell!"
"You shouldn't accepted our offer, old man!"Burdwell yelled out.
The two men run for the shelter in fear as Gohan and Chika glared at the mention of Cell.
"What Cell is doing out here, Chi?"Gohan thought.
"I don't know, Gohan."Chika answered. "But whatever it is, it's probably bad."
"Cell is here!"Lime shouted as she came inside the shop. "Run everybody! Run!"
"Hey, your the girl that I saved!"Gohan admitted.
"Well Miss Lime, where's Cell?"Mr Lao asked.
Lime panicked a little, but then giggled in respond.
"Now Lime how many times have I told you never to lie again?"Mr Lao scolded.
Gohan and Chika looked at each other.
"Cell is not here."Gohan said.
"I am relieved knowing that."Chika complemented.
A while later, Gohan and Chika looked at the shelter that was near the village as Mr Lao chopped some wood with an axe.
"So that's the shelter those men were talking about?"Gohan asked.
"Yes, the villagers have gone there for protection just in case Cell comes back."Mr Lao explained.
"So Cell was actually here before in the village?"Gohan asked.
"That's right."Mr Lao agreed. "And it weren't a whole lot of fireworks just so to speak. In those days, he was still stocking his victims for energy."
Chika frowned. "Is that so?"
"Yes, he was comparatively weak back then."Mr also explained. "Still gathering life force to build up his strength. Lime lost her parents that day."
Lime looked down as her tears began to develop in her eyes.
"My gosh."Gohan said sadly.
"Sorry about your parents, Lime."Chika apologised.
"If you two have seen Cell, then you both know there is no use of running away or building a shelter."Mr Lao commented. "I am not sure why they are diluting themselves believing the shelter brings them comfort I guess."
"They are a bunch of fools that's all."Lime retorted.
"Anyway, we still have eight days to live that's not bad."Mr Lao admitted. "So here we are trying to make the most of the last peaceful days."
Mr Lao winced and stopped chopping wood as his back started to hurt.
"Oh gramps, it's your back again."Lime said worriedly. "Why can't I do it? I'm big enough."
"Your still a little child."Mr Lao reminded.
Gohan and Chika smiled at Mr Lao.
"Hey, I can help."Gohan suggested.
"Yeah."Chika agreed. "My brother is quite strong."
Gohan throws three logs into the air and was about to slice them with his bare hands, but then Lime disrupted him.
"Hey, silly."Lime giggled.
Chika quickly grabbed the three logs from hitting her twin brother.
"Aren't you forgetting something?"Lime reminded. "Even I know I can't chop wood without an axe. Here."
Lime handed the axe to Gohan as Chika placed the three logs down.
"Of course."Chika agreed and looked at Gohan. "Your so forgetful, Gohan."
"Hey."Gohan chuckled lightly.
Gohan proceeded to chop the logs using the axe with ease, which surprised Lime and Mr Lao while Chika simply smiled at her brother's kindness.
At Goku's House...
Krillin started to complain that resting made him very powerless while Goku let out a yawn.
"Hey, isn't worrying that we are taking things too lightly?"Krillin asked.
"What do you mean?"Goku questioned.
"I mean the tournament!"Krillin exclaimed. "We only have eight days, you know? All of this yawning is making me lose my focus. I'm getting a little too relaxed here."
"I'm sorry."Goku replied tiredly.
"Oh bummer."Krillin retorted as he sat back on the sofa. "You never worry do you?"
Mr Lao picked up the bottles of spice that the Son twins wanted to buy and placed them in a brown sack.
"Hey Gohan, Chika, are you sure these are the only spices that your mother needs?"Mr Lao asked.
Mr Lao checked outside, seeing that his granddaughter and the Son twins were no where to be seen.
"Now where have those three rascals gone?"Mr Lao said.
In the Forest...
Lime, Gohan and Chika were in the forest talking and eating apples.
Gohan feed a few apple slices to the birds, squirrels and bunnies of the forest.
"Yummy."Chika murmured as she munched on two apples. "Mum could make apple pies with these."
Gohan nodded. "You got that right, Chi."
"You would never fight."Lime commented. "Your too sweet. Your too gentle to fight I mean."
"You think so?"Gohan said in surprise.
"I know so."Lime remarked. "I could see that. I like strong men like my grandpa. His a real fighter."
Gohan looked at Lime as Chika finished eating her apples.
"Your grandpa was a fighter?"Gohan asked.
"He used to be a great martial artist back in the old days."Lime explained. "I bet if you ask him, he can give you some pointers."
Gohan smiled. "You think so?"
Lime nodded in agreement.
"You bet!"Lime agreed confidently and did a few punches with her free hand. "I bet you could hit that Mayor Borbonne for sure! That would teach them not to mess with Grandpa's store."
"I like strong men as well, Lime."Chika admitted and blushed a little. "When I grow up, I hope I get married to the coolest guy someday."
Chika's eyes sparkled as she giggled dreamily causing Lime to look at Gohan.
"Is your sister always like that?"Lime questioned.
"You have no idea."Gohan chuckled sheepishly and sweat dropped.
Suddenly small celebration shots were heard which alarmed Lime, Gohan and Chika.
"What's that?"Gohan asked.
"It must be the grand opening for the shelter."Lime suggested.
"Grand opening?"Chika repeated with a hint of suspicion. "Let's check it out then."
Lime, Gohan and Chika headed to the shelter's location and sees a crowd of people gathering, where Mr Borbonne the Mayor was.
"My, my, it is so nice to see you all together like this."Mr Borbonne stated. "It warms my soul to see such unity."
"Yeah right, fraud."Lime scoffed with a glare and stood up. "I got an idea."
Lime took a deep breath and again plays another trick by claiming that Cell is coming.
"It's Cell!"Lime yelled out. "Cell is here!"
"What are you doing?!"Gohan panicked.
"Lime, your grandpa reminded you not to do this again!"Chika argued.
"Cell is here!"Lime warned. "His at the village!"
This caused the crowd to panic and head into the shelter.
However, Mr Borbonne run into the shelter and locks himself in, leaving the villagers outside.
Lime smiled and winked at the Son twins.
"That will show them the Mayor's true colours."Lime complemented.
Kasdan and Burdwell pointed their guns at Lime, Gohan and Chika.
"So your the one responsible for this."Kasdan scowled. "Mr Borbonne would like a word with you three punks."
The two men took the three kids, where the crowd was.
"Hey, calm down!"Kasdan ordered. "It was just a joke! This little kid was pulling a stupid prank!"
"What?!"Mr Borbonne shouted in anger.
The doors of the shelter opened and Mr Borbonne came out with his bodyguards.
"Where is that stinking kid?!"Mr Borbonne demanded.
"That's her, Mr Borbonne."Kasdan stated, gesturing to Lime. "She did it."
Mr Borbonne glared at Lime, who glared back at him.
"You little runt!"Mr Borbonne scowled. "Your in big trouble now."
Gohan and Chika stepped forward.
"Excuse me, sir?"Gohan asked. "It was wrong for our friend to lie. We're sorry. But what your doing is completely wrong."
"Who cares about what you think?!"Mr Borbonne said rudely. "Go back to your mummy, kid!"
"And where is your mum?"Gohan questioned. "Was she one of the people that you locked outside?"
"She probably is, bro."Chika agreed simply. "I bet the shelter is just a scam from him to get more money."
Mr Borbonne glared at the Son twins before looking at his bodyguards.
"That's enough you little brats!"Mr Borbonme retorted. "Shut these kids up!"
"Right."the bodyguards answered with nods.
"Wait!"An old man protested. "They're just children! Let's just bring them back to their home!"
"This is my land and this is my shelter, old man!"Mr Borbonne warned. "And if you want to come in, I'll do as I say!"
The old man became silent as the bodyguards approached Gohan and Chika.
"Stop it!"
The bodyguards and the three kids turned around, seeing Mr Lao in his martial arts clothing.
"Wow!"Lime remarked happily. "It's Grandpa!"
"Yes, it's me."Mr Lao agreed and glared at the men. "Now back off!"
"Uh oh!"Kasdan and Burdwell answered in unison.
"Don't be fools!"Mr Borbonne insulted."His just an old man! Get him!"
"Yes, sir!"the bodyguards responded.
Gohan, Chika and Lime rushed up to Mr Lao.
"Let us help you!"Gohan insisted. "There's too many of them!"
"Yeah, you can't beat them by yourself!"Chika protested. "Please, Mr Lao!"
"No, no, I think I can handle it."Mr Lao assured.
Burdwell ran towards Mr Lao, but the old man kneed him on the gut which knocked him out.
"Old man, now your going to get it!"Kasdan declared.
Mr Lao narrowed his eyes as Kasdan and the bodyguards charged towards him.
The old martial artist punched Kasdan away before defeating the Mayor's bodyguards.
Kasdan reached out to grab his gun, but Mr Lao kicked it away.
Gohan, Lime and Chika looked at Mr Lao in amazement.
"Why you...Mercenary Tao!"Mr Borbonne shouted. "Come out! I need you!"
"What is it, Mr Borbonne?"Mercenary Tao asked.
"It's just a little task."Mr Borbonne answered smugly and pointed at Mr Lao. "It's that old man. I want him eliminated."
"I be happy to."Mercenary Tao replied with a smirk.
Mr Lao and Mercenary Tao stood in their fighting positions before launching towards each other.
One of Mercenary Tao's robotic hands became a sharp blade and swung it at Mr Lao.
Mr Lao dodged the sharp blade, which caused him to earn a small scratch on his cheek.
Mr Lao fought very well but couldn't defeat Mercenary Tao.
"Oh no!"Lime gasped.
"KO!"Mr Borbonne cackled. "Now finish him off! That will teach him not to challenge me!"
"Sure."Mercenary Tao agreed. "That's what I'm paid for. I am a neighbourly hood killer. It's just a job. Super Dodon Wave! Fire!"
Mercenary Tao fired his Super Dodon Wave at Mr Lao to finish him off.
"NO!"Lime cried out.
Mr Borbonne and Mercenary Tao snickered evilly at Mr Lao's demise.
However when the smoke cleared away, it revealed Gohan and Chika had blocked the attack from killing Mr Lao.
"What happened?!"Mr Borbonne demanded.
"We happened that's what."Gohan responded with a glare.
"You leave Mr Lao alone or your gonna pay."Chika warned coldly.
Gohan and Chika powered up causing Lime to become stunned.
"Oh my goodness!"Lime gasped in awe.
"Not to worry."Mercenary Tao sneered."I'll shoot you both up."
Mercenary Tao brought his gun arm and aimed it at the Son twins, but then notice Gohan resembled someone very familiar.
"Hey boy, what's your name?"Mercenary Tao asked.
"It's Gohan."Gohan replied.
"Well, thank goodness."Mercenary Tao complemented. "I thought you were someone named Goku."
"Close enough."Gohan declared. "I'm his son."
"And I'm his daughter."Chika admitted. "My name is Chika."
"What?!"Mercenary Tao cried out in shock.
Mercenary Tao became horrified learning the two kids were Goku's children.
"Hey! What the heck is wrong with you?!"Mr Borbonne snapped. "You look like you've just seen a ghost!"
"Oh no! Not me!"Mercenary Tao panicked. "You will if you fight those kids! I quit!"
Mercenary Tao threw a tree into the air and went on it to flee.
"You can't quit!"Mr Borbonne argued.
"I just did!"Mercenary Tao announced and disappeared in the sky.
Mr Borbonne became nervous when he notice all the villagers glaring at him.
"His gonna lock us all out!"A woman retorted.
"His a thief!"A man growled.
"Let's beat him up!"Another man insisted.
Mr Borbonne crawled up to Gohan and Chika in fright.
"Please, help me!"Mr Borbonne begged. "They're mad!"
Gohan and Chika frowned at Mr Borbonne.
"Why should we help you?"Chika scoffed.
"You lied to them."Gohan reminded.
"I can make it up!"Mr Borbonne protested. "I'll do anything! Anything, please!"
Gohan and Chika smiled at each other before they easily destroyed the shelter with their energy waves.
"What have you done?!"Mr Borbonne said in shock.
"Don't you see?"Gohan asked. "Me and my sister could do that to the shelter. Just think what Cell could've done."
"That thing cannot protect you against a threat like Cell."Chika agreed.
Lime and Mr Lao nodded in agreement as the Son twins looked at the villagers.
"Hey everyone, I'm Gohan."Gohan introduced.
"And I'm Chika."Chika greeted. "We know that Cell is scary. Instead of expecting the worst, me and my brother can only hope for the best."
"Cell is not invincible."Gohan stated. "Have you ever heard of the bigger they are, the harder they fall?"
The villagers smiled at the Son twins as Goku arrived at the area.
"Hey!"Goku called out. "Gohan! Chika! Up here!"
Goku landed in front of Gohan and Chika.
"Hey, dad."Gohan responded.
"What are you doing here, daddy?"Chika said with a smile.
"Looking for both of you."Goku admitted. "Weren't the two of you supposed to get stuff for your mum?"
Gohan and Chika panicked in shock since they forgot to get the groceries that their mum told them to get.
"Oops! I forgot!"Gohan replied.
"Me too."Chika stated in embarrassment. "Sorry."
"Relax, neither of you didn't."Lime giggled and handed the grocery sack to Gohan.
"Thanks."Gohan thanked.
"You saved the day, Lime."Chika chuckled.
Gohan, Chika and Lime smiled at each other as Mr Lao spoke with Goku.
"It was a pleasure knowing your children."Mr Lao commented.
"Geez, thanks."Goku responded.
"They're powers are enormous just like their dad's."Mr Lao admitted.
"Don't tell okay?"Goku laughed quietly.
Mr Lao nodded in respond.
"Mr Lao, thanks a lot for everything."Gohan remarked.
"You sure showed those creeps who were the boss."Chika agreed.
"Please, come and visit us."Mr Lao insisted.
"Sure!"Gohan responded with a smile.
"We will!"Chika assured happily.
"Hey, let's boogey."Goku declared.
"Right!"Gohan and Chika answered in unison.
"Beat Cell."Mr Lao encouraged. "I know you can do it. I know all three of you can at the big tournament."
Goku nodded before he and his children flew away in the sky.
"Goodbye Gohan!"Lime called out. "Goodbye, Chika! Come back and see us soon!"
