As soon as we arrived, Nico started to fall, I lifted my hand and lifted him just before he was able to fall face-first into a not-so-soft ground. I lifted him a bit further and leaned him on my shoulder. Not wanting to grab anyone's attention, I didn't attempt to use my curse to lift him.
"Thanks," I heard Nico mumble.
"Hey, that's what family's for," I said. I then looked around, I had no clue where we were.
"O-over there," Nico muttered and slowly lifted his hand and pointed in a direction. I knew that Nico had been here a lot so I decided to follow his directions.
Soon enough we arrived in a city filled with almost-Greek-looking buildings. I didn't know what Roman architecture looked like, but I guessed this was New Rome.
I started walking towards the city with Nico hobbling beside me. We crossed the bridge that went over the river but was stopped by Terminus.
"Stop!" He boomed. "You are not Roman, you are not allowed to cross."
Nico looked up. "It's fine Terminus, I invited her. Now please let us through."
"Fine," he said with a scowl.
I led Nico over the bridge past Terminus. I looked up at him as we did. I lowered my head back down and kept walking.
Once over the bridge, I had to put Nico down. I didn't want to use my curse and Nico was heavy.
"So, what are we going to do now that we're in the city?" I asked.
"Well, first we have to find Hazel, then we can train."
"Wait, no, you have to rest. We can find Hazel and Frank, rest, then train."
"Alright, fine."
We rested for a little while longer until I picked Nico back up and we started walking again.
"Here, this way, we might find Hazel over here," he pointed.
We walked into a fancy building and sure enough, Hazel was sitting in there.
She saw us and immediately stood up. "Nico, what happened?" She rushes over to us and lifted Nico off my shoulders.
"Hey sis," He said with a smirk, "Nothing happened, I shadow traveled here. Took more energy than I thought I guess."
"You know you shouldn't do that!" She scolded.
"Eh, it's fine."
Hazel turned to me. "And who may you be?" She asked with a smile.
"I, uh-," I was cut off by Nico.
"This is Trish, she's been having, uh, trouble, and we thought we might be able to train here." Nico somewhat explained.
"Well, you're going to have to explain more than that if you want to train here. You know, the Romans aren't exactly, friendly."
"Yeah, yeah, but first, sleep." And with that Nico passed out for exhaustion.
"Well then. We should get him to an infirmary, one of our healers can get his energy up a bit."
"I, uh, I can heal him," I said shyly.
"You can, can you?"
"Uh, yeah."
"Hm, are you a child of Apollo?"
"Uh, no. I'm, uh-," Before I was able to say anymore I was once again interrupted by someone.
"Hazel!" They huffed, "Attack, east side, t-they're looking for the c-cursed one again."
"T-the cursed one?" I asked wide-eyed and in shock.
"Yeah, we've been having attacks all week, each time they ask to see the cursed one, and each time their army gets bigger," Hazel explained. She then turned to the girl who had come to warn us, "Please, go get as much help as you can, I'll stay here and watch after Trish."
"Wait," I said, "did you say an infirmary? Like there's more than one?"
"Unfortunately yes. We weren't prepared and several Romans are injured," Hazel said sadly.
Hazel must have seen the worry in my face because she then asked, "Hey, what's wrong? You look worried."
"I, uh," I took a deep breath, "You swear you won't tell anyone."
"Promise, now what is it?"
"Well, Nico brought me here to train me. B-but I-I'm the one they're looking for, I'm the cursed one."
Hazel gasped. "T-the cursed one?"
"Y-yeah, I've been having some, uh, problems with keeping calm, and, uh, I had to leave camp half-blood because things were getting out of hand. So I left and Percy's mom let me stay at her house. Nico wants to help me train and since I can't train in New York City, he brought me here. That's why I'm here, but I had no clue this was happening here." Hazel stared at me in awe or fright.
"Look, you have to let me fight, I can take care of the army."
"All by yourself?" Hazel asked surprised."
"Yeah," I took out my sword, "I'm stronger than I look."
"Okay, come on," Hazel started running so I ran after her.
We got to the edge of the city and I could see all the fighting. There were hundreds maybe thousands of monsters. The Romans were fighting for their lives. This made me angry, people were getting hurt because of me.
"Come on!" Hazel yelled.
I ignored her. My eyes began to glow and I lifted myself up. I heard Hazel gasp from somewhere below. Everything around me darkened and I drew the attention of everyone fighting.
"Hey!" I yelled, "It's me you want, isn't it! So stop fighting them and COME FIGHT ME!" I moved my hand forward causing me to shoot forward towards all the fighting.
The monsters started yelling and making a bunch of noise. I went right in the middle of it and started fighting. I slashed and cut at every monster that came my way.
I waved my hand across the air, causing a thin strip of air to rip right through several monsters turning them all to dust. The roar of monsters was loud but not loud enough to hear Hazel, and possible Frank, yelling at everyone that I needed help and I was going to die.
For some reason, this made me angrier. I didn't want them to fight, I didn't want them to get hurt. I started taking down monsters faster than before. I used walls of air to push back monsters and to protect me from the ones that refused to return to Tartarus.
I kept getting angrier and angrier by the second, before I knew it there were no other monsters left for me to fight.
I was about a hundred yards away from Hazel but I could still see the surprised look on her face when I defeated all those by myself.
I looked away and tried to think of happy thoughts, I needed to calm myself down. I saw people run for me, Hazel in the front.
"STOP!" I yelled. Everyone suddenly stopped, I might have accidentally used my curse. I put them all down and took a deep breath. "Stay away from me! I'm not calm, I could kill you."
I took several more deep breaths and I eventually calmed myself down enough so people could come closer.
I looked up and met Hazel's eyes, we were both thinking the same thing, we needed to talk. "Everyone!" Hazel yelled, "Go back to the city, we'll tell you what you need to know, but right now go help the others in the infirmaries." She then turned to me and started my way.
"Please, I can go to the infirmaries, I can help people," I said.
"I will let you go to one of the infirmaries then, but first, I think we should talk."
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! I might post another chapter today, I'm not sure yet but I have a really good idea for the next chapter and I really want to write it today.
