"Alright, is everyone ready to begin?"

The captains and lieutenants of the Queensguard all sat around the meeting room. It had been a bit since their last meeting. They had all been rather busy, so carving out time to come together was becoming more and more of a task.

But with all the recent events happening, they knew that they had to discuss exactly what was going on and what they were going to do about it.

Corona took her seat and sighed. "Yes, and sorry for running late. I had something important to take care of," she explained.

"It's fine. It's really just a miracle we managed to all get together like this at all," Astro said. "I didn't expect everyone to make it if I'm being honest."

"Can we hurry it up…" Puff grunted. He had quite a few projects he needed to work on today. He really only came because both Astro and Corona requested him to.

Astro nodded. "Right, sorry. Let's get into it. I'm pretty sure for most of us, the biggest threats we have to deal with in mewni are the rebels. And, not to brush off the trouble of havoc they've cost, they've been relatively easy to deal with," he said. Dealing with the rebels had usually been a troublesome but simple process.

They would rise up, try and take over some town or fortress, and one of them would move out to take them down. Occasionally they would get word from the second division about where they might be hiding or planning to strike next, and they would get the jump on them before they did too much damage.

"So we're about to go over how much more of a pain in the ass they've been recently, right?" Morel said leaning back in his chair. "Thought I might have been the only one who noticed."

"Well, you weren't. Based on everything in all the reports there's definitely been something that's changed with them," Flink said looking annoyed. "It's mostly been raiders, but their tactics and movements, they're smarter. They're not being as reckless as they were before."

Lenora raised an eyebrow. "How? Don't tell me they're actually giving you guys trouble?" she asked. With her and Corona being in the medical division, they didn't see the felt as often as the others. They were usually in the backlines and showing up afterwards to heal the wounded.

"It's true," Fum said. "I mean, I usually don't have that much trouble dealing with them since I can feel where they're going through the earth. But on the battlefield… the way they move, the strategies they use. They're a lot more thought out than before. They used to just pretty much throw themselves at us."

Morel scowled. "Yeah, flanking, pincer maneuvers, trying to lure us into the open. These are pretty advanced military tactics. Ones those idiots wouldn't have thought of trying before," he said.

"It's not just on the battlefield," Vicenza cut in. "They're being a lot more sneaky about where and what they raid. They're waiting for our patrols to pass by certain areas so we have to double back to try and stop them. Sometimes they even had smaller groups to swoop in when we do. And they're taking more than just food. Materials, armor, weapons."

Puff growled. He didn't like the idea of weapons and armor he made being used by rebels or raiders.

"Most of the ones we're dealing with are apparently from some group of mewman purist," Oswald said. "Some of my members have managed to infiltrate the smaller groups, but they haven't been able to get as much info as I'd like. Whoever is in charge is being really careful about letting info slip. They're not sharing much with the low ranking members."

Breeze narrowed her eyes. "That's… odd to me." Everyone turned towards her, curious about what she was talking about. "It's true that the majority of these incidents going on are these mewman purists, but they're not the only ones."

"You mean that group the Steel Insurgents…?" Astro asked, glaring. He had been more than a little irked when she had mentioned the fire user and his supposed connection to Vigo. Even from beyond the grave, his actions were still causing him and everyone else grief.

Breeze nodded. "Yes. When they attacked, they had clearly planned this out. They were ready with equipment, ballistas, and an escape route. They were every bit as organized as these other rebels you described. But they were also made up of quite a few monsters," she said.

"Which means them being connected to a group of mewman purist are unlikely," Sirius said. "So what you're suggesting is that there may be multiple rebel factions. Not just the mewman purists or the ones you dealt with."

Breeze nodded. "I also think there's a possibility they might be connected… not directly of course, but it does seem odd we never see any reports of these mewman purists and other monster rebel groups clashing. Perhaps they have some sort of agreement," she said shaking her head.

"I can't imagine mewman purists and monsters working together in any form of fashion, but… it would explain why there hasn't been any clashes between them," Astro said. "If this Mailmith guy was leading the ones you dealt with, then it stands to reason there would be others leaders, or high ranking officers commanding each one."

Flink sighed. "Great, so now all our enemies are starting to work to try and kill us. Like we didn't have enough troubles."

"If they really are working together, stopping them is going to become a lot more complicated. We have to figure out just who the ones leading them are, and how to take them down," Morel said sitting up. "Any chance you could use the eye for that?"

Astro grunted. "Without a name or a face I have nothing to go off of. Even then using the eye is… tricky. And if they're taking precaution it still might not work."

"I hate to add to our troubles, but there's another problem I need to bring up. It may or may not be related to our rebel problem, but still," Corona said raising her hand. Everyone turned towards her. "I'm not sure if you're heard, but… there seems to be some type of magic based disease spreading through our ranks. Or more specifically my own."

Fum looked worried. "Wait, what? What do you mean?"

Lenora grunted. "A bunch of our members have started getting sick. Some of them… some of them didn't bounce back either. They're showing the same signs and symptoms, but we can't pin down any cause for it," she explained.

"I've managed to slow down many of the symptoms but it's little more than a stopgap if I'm being honest. There doesn't see to be any rhyme or reason behind who gets infected. I thought it might have been contagious, but some of the ones who got it weren't even near one another. It seems to infect people at random. But that's not even the strangest part of it."

"There seems to be small traces of… dark magic at play. It took a few people to really confirm it, but it's true. This isn't just some random disease. I'm almost certain someone is behind this, and they're targeting the members of my division specifically."

Morel looked angry. "You serious? This isn't good. That means they could have someone infiltrating our ranks. Or… or someone who can actually do this without being near us at all. They could target any of us," he said.

"I'm not so sure about that. If it was that simple they probably would have targeted all of us from the very start," Breeze reasoned. "Maybe there's some sort of stipulation, or drawback keeping them from doing so. Either way, we have to find a countermeasure for this. We can't afford to have our ranks crumbling from within, especially not in the Fourth."

With them being the healers, they were the most likely to be able to solve and deal with these. Having them drop like they were would slow down the solution.

Astro balled his fist up. "Dark magic huh? I'll take a look at the infected and see what I can do." He wasn't sure how this thing worked, but if he was lucky he would be able to draw the dark magic out of them and kill the spread of it all together. "I might even be able to find some way to trace it back to the caster."

"I'll help," Corona said, pushing her glasses up. If there was any way she could help him analyze and deal with this, she wanted to. Besides, this was a problem that affected her division directly. She wanted to solve it, and hopefully track down whoever was going this and deal with them herself. It was personal.

Astro nodded and then turned towards Sirius. "If we can get a hand on a higher ranked person among them, do you think you could piece together who they were. Or at the very least how we could find out?" he asked.

Sirius nodded. "I don't think it should be too difficult. Though if they have any idea about my abilities they may have already taken counter measures to try and prevent capture, or to resist. I feel as though I should ask for future reference. Would breaking their minds be an acceptable method of getting results?"

The others looked at him a bit surprised, and then turned to Astro. The young titans looked conflicted. "I… I don't want to come to that. But if this turns out to be a bigger threat that we anticipated, it just might." These rebels were trying to tear down the kingdoms and cause chaos. If he had to choose between them and the people of mewni, he'd choose the latter.

Not that he wanted to have to make that choice…

Sirius nodded and gave him a thumbs up. "Alright then. Now it's just a matter of finding someone who's likely to get information on them."

"You can leave that to my division. We'll keep our eyes and ears open. The moment we see a chance or hear a word, we'll let you guys know," Oswald said.

"But what should we do about the raiders then?" Vincenza asked.

"We need to close the gaps between our patrol units. Split them into slightly smaller groups, but make sure they're close enough to be able to quickly give support. We don't want them thinking they can go from avoiding us to overwhelming us," Astro explained.

The others all nodded in agreement. It was a sound strategy, and the best they could go given what little information they had at the moment. "What are you planning on doing about Mailmith? He clearly had quite a grudge against you," Breeze said.

"To be fair, there's a long list of people that do," Morel commented.

Fum balled his fist up. "Don't worry, when I come across him I'll be sure to stop him!"

Astro hummed. "If anyone runs across him, we try to take him in. From what it sounds like he is the best source of information we're going to get," he said. Though if he was being honest, he wanted the chance to take him down himself. He was clearly a threat, strong enough to hold his own against Breeze.

And even more than that, he was a shadow of Vigo. And he was sure he would spout the same nonsense the septarian had to sway others to his cause. They were already starting to learn just how dangerous sweet words being spewed from the mouths of not so sweet people could be thanks to the Malchemist.

"He's a tough one. Taking him in alive might not be an option," Breeze said.

"I said try. We don't need to do anything too reckless. And if you end up having to put him down there..." Astro let the sentence hang. He always tried to avoid killing as much as he could. But recently he was starting to wonder if he really had a choice anymore.

"Understood then," Breeze said, getting up. "I think we can go ahead and call this meeting. Unless anyone has anything else to discuss?"

Nobody else said anything, and then Astro got up. "Alright then. Corona, let's go check out the members in your division…"
