The Great American Bash: 22/7/2007

WWE The Great American Bash was live from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The first match of the event was between Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) and Matt Hardy for the WWE United States Championship. Hardy was in control early in the match but later MVP took control of the match and focused his attacks on Hardy's head. MVP performed a Playmaker on Hardy and pinned him to win the match and retain the United States Championship.

The second match was a Cruiserweight Open match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Chavo Guerrero defended the title against Funaki, Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore and Jamie Noble. Hornswoggle, who wasn't booked to be in the match, became a part of the match when he entered the ring as the bell rang. All the cruiserweights were out of the ring except Noble. Hornswoggle, who was under the ring for the match, entered and surprisingly and performed a Tadpole Splash on Noble. Hornswoggle went on to pin Noble to get the victory and win the Cruiserweight Championship.

The third match was a Singapore Cane on a Pole match between Carlito and Sandman. The rules of the match were that the one who retrieved the cane from the pole was allowed to use the cane. Sandman retrieved the cane, but before he could use it, Carlito performed a Backstabber and pinned him to win the match.

The fourth match was a Divas match between Candice Michelle and Melina for the WWE Women's Championship. After a back and forth match, Candice performed a Candy Wrapper on Melina, and pinned her after to retain the title.

The fifth match was between Umaga and Jeff Hardy for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Hardy started the match attacking Umaga with moves such as dropkicks, inverted mule kicks and a Whisper in the Wind. Hardy had a chance to make the cover, but instead attempted to perform a Swanton Bomb. Umaga avoided the move and charged Hardy in the corner. Umaga then performed a Samoan Spike and pinned Hardy after to win the match.

The sixth match was between John Morrison and CM Punk for the ECW World Championship. Morrison left the match, but Punk chased, tackled, and pushed him to the ring. Before Punk could attempt a springboard clothesline, Morrison raised his knee. Morrison pinned Punk after to win the match and retain the ECW Championship.

The seventh match was a Texas Bullrope match between Randy Orton and Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes started the match by performing a series of elbows on Orton's head. Orton, however, took the advantage after hitting Rhodes' head several times with the cowbell, which was in the middle of the rope connecting the two men. After a final hit to the head, Orton pinned Rhodes to win the match. After the match, Orton attempted to punt Rhodes in the head, but Rhodes' son, Cody, made the save.

The eighth match was a Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship between then World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali, Batista, and Kane. In the beginning, Khali dominated most of the match, applying a nerve hold on Kane and attacking Batista. Outside the ring, they both tried to perform their separate finishers on Khali, who countered both attempts. Batista and Kane performed a double-team spinebuster and chokeslam through a broadcast table. Kane performed a Chokeslam on Batista for a near-fall. Kane then retrieved a steel chair, but Batista countered a chair shot with a Spinebuster, and then performed a Batista Bomb on Kane. As Batista went for the pinfall, Khali pulled Batista outside the ring and threw Batista into the steel steps. Khali executed a Khali Bomb on Kane to win the match and retain the Title.

Now it was time for the WWE Championship.


In the arena, Bobby Lashley's theme hits and he comes out, doing his usual entrance. Lashley was pumped up and ready to fight. He was looking to do what no other has done thus far and that is beat the Bladewolf for the WWE Championship. Lashley jumps onto the ring apron, setting off the turnbuckle pyro similar to Brock Lesnar's pyro.

Lashley enters the ring and his theme dies down as he paces back and fourth, waiting for the WWE Champion.

OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!

'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah! Get up, come on get down with the sickness!'

Down with the Sickness plays to a loud pop and out comes the Bladewolf with the WWE Championship around his waist, baseball bat in his right hand. He makes his way down the ramp towards the ring. Bladewolf places his bat against the steel steps before he slides into the ring and stands up, taking off his coat and tosses it out of the ring.

His theme dies down and introductions begin. "the following contest is scheduled for one-fall and it is for the WWE Championship!" Introducing first, the challenger, from Colorado Springs, Colorado...BOBBY LASHLEY!" Lillian Garcia announced and Lashley did a boxer's jog, jumping up and down to get pumped up.

"And from Death Valley, he is the current WWE Champion, The Wolf of Darkness and Destruction...THE BLADEWOLF!" Bladewolf takes off his title and raises it without taking his eyes off Lashley before he hands the title to the referee.

The referee holds the title up, showing it was on the line, then he hands it to someone at ringside before he checks both men for any illegal weapons before calling for the bell to begin the match.

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Bladewolf and Lashley went eye to eye before Lashley shoved Bladewolf back, making the Champion just smirk before he and Lashley locked up and had a test of strength, to which they went back and fourth trying to overpower the other before Lashley began pushing Bladewolf back, slowly getting him towards the corner, Bladewolf tries fighting back, makes Lashley take a step back before Lashey shoves back and gets the Bladewolf in the corner where he hits shoulder thrusts, giving Bladewolf a taste of his own medicine.

Bladewolf elbows Lashley in the back before kneeing him in the side of the head. Bladewolf elbows Lashley in the side of the head before giving him an uppercut that floors Lashley. Bladewolf stomps on Lashley a few times before he brings his knee down onto Lashley's chest then brings hie elbow down onto Lashley's chest and goes for the cover but Lashley kicks out at two.

Bladewolf hammers away at Lashley's forehead before he backs off and watches as Lashley tries getting to his feet only to be grabbed from behind and given a German Suplex across the ring. Bladewolf walks over, grabs Lashley from behind and hits another German Suplex, then another, then another, then another, then another, then another, then another, then another.

Bladewolf stops there then grabs Lashley's right ankle, looking for the Grapevine Ankle Lock but Lashley slipped out of that and bailed to the floor. Lashley and Bladewolf stared each other down before Lashley got back into the ring.

Lashley with a leapfrog leading to a shoulder tackle. Lashley charged, Bladewolf moved, Bladewolf with a bulldog and a body slam followed by an elbow for two. Bladewolf grabs Lashley and hits a German Suplex again, then another, then another, then another, then another, then another, then another.

Lashley stumbled to his feet but ducked a clothesline from Bladewolf and floored the WWE Champion with a clothesline of his own. Lashley grabbed Bladewolf and sent him into the corner before he runs into a boot by Bladewolf, but then Lashley hit an impressive overhead suplex and went for the cover, but Bladewolf kicked out at two.

Lashley worked over Bladewolf with shoulder tackles against the turnbuckle. Lashley with a sidewalk slam followed by a hard whip into the turnbuckle and Lashley hit a delayed vertical suplex for a two count. Bladewolf came back with a blockbuster neckbreaker, then Bladewolf went up top...AND HITS A FLYING CLOTHESLINE!

Bladewolf got to his feet and raised his right arm, signalling a Chokeslam was coming. Lashley got to his feet, using the ropes to pull himself to his feet. He fell to a knee before he stood up straight then turns around...INTO A GOOZLE! Bladewolf lifts Lashley up, but Lashley gets out of the hold and lifts Bladewolf up into a gorilla press and drops Bladewolf onto his back, making the WWE Champion arch his back.

Lashley grabs Bladewolf, scoops him onto his shoulder before he runs...AND HITS A RUNNING POWERSLAM! HE HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKED OUT!

Lashley shook his head and waited until Bladewolf ha dgotten to his feet before he runs and hits a running clothesline, flooring the WWE Champion completely. Lashley grabs Bladewolf, scoops him onto his shoulders...AND HITS A SHOULDERBREAKER! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT AT TWO!

Lashley grabs Bladewolf, going to do it again, when Bladewolf scooped him onto his shoulders...AND HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF! HE HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THRE-! LASHLEY KICKS OUT!

They fight to their feet and trade rights back and fourth with each other before Lashley knocks Bladewolf with an elbow, then rebounds off the ropes and hits a running clothesline. Bladewolf stumbled to his feet and Lashley went for the spear but Bladewolf leapfrogs over Lashley, grabs his right ankle...AND LOCKS IN THE GRAPEVINE ANKLE LOCK SUBMISSION HOLD! WILL LASHLEY TAP OUT?!

Lashley looked like he was fading, but then Lashley managed to crawl to the bottom rope to break the hold. The fans were standing up at this point and screaming in reaction to the action.

Lashley got back up as Bladewolf regrouped...AND LASHLEY HITS A SPEAR! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT AGAIN!

Lashley shakes his head and gets to his feet before he grabs Bladewolf and scoops him onto his shoulder but Bladewolf wiggles and fights back, wrapping his arms around Lashley's waist and falls onto his feet, bending Lashley backwards then lifts him off his feet so he's held upside down in front of him...AND HITS THE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! HE HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THRE-! LASHLEY KICKS OUT!

Bladewolf shakes his head and gets to his feet and takes off his sleeeless top before he grabs Lashley, lifts him into the vertical suplex position...AND HITS THE WOLF'S FANG! HE HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THREE! BLADEWOLF RETAINS THE WWWE CHAMPIONSHIP!

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Down with the Sickness plays as Bladewolf gets to his feet, using the ropes to pull himself to his feet. "Here is your winner and STILL WWE Champion...THE BLADEWOLF!"

Bladewolf is handed the WWE Championship and he raises it. The reign is at 237 days and counting. Bladewolf rolls out the ring and picks up his bat, heading up the ramp with his title and bat in hand...
