64. Chapter 64: Pre-Tournament Challenge Pt2

Continued from the Previous Chapter

We pick up just after Stunfisk is KO'ed, as PKMN Ranger Steve calls an Amoonguss in.
"Alright, Reuniclus, return," Hilda said, and Reuniclus was withdrawn. She then continued with "Now Simisear, let's show them what we can do" and Simisear materialised.

Battle Continued: Simisear VS Amoonguss
"Simisear, use Work Up" Hilda called, and Simisear worked himself up, coated in white energy, and boosted both Attacking stats.
"Amoonguss, use Toxic" the Ranger called, and Amoonguss shot a stream of poison at Simisear, and while Simisear was Badly Poisoned, its Lum Berry cured Poison.
"Now Simisear, unleash a Fire Punch" Hilda called, and Simisear charged in, its fist cloaked with flames, and Punched Amoonguss, dealing Significant damage.
"Now Amoonguss, clear those Stat boosts with Clear Smog" the Ranger called, and Amoonguss blew a cloud of white poison into Simisear's face, dealing Minor damage and resetting Simisear's stats boosts.
"I had a feeling your Simisear was going to boost its stats, so I thought I'd counter that," Steve said, to which Hilda replied "Well, now I can see how much damage it did, Simisear, use Substitute" Hilda replied, and SImisear used a quarter of its health to hide behind a doll.
"Good luck, Amoonguss, use Synthesis," Steve said, and Amoonguss used the sun to restore half its max HP.
"Well, let's do this. Simisear, another Work Up" Hilda called, and Simisear worked itself into a frenzy while cloaked with white energy, raising its attacking stats.
"Now, Amoonguss, try to break the Substitute with Clear Smog," Steve said and Amoonguss blew a white, poison cloud at the Substitute, and failed to break it.
"Now Simisear, use Fire Punch" Hilda called, and Simisear dashed out and struck Amoonguss with its fist-cloaked flames, dealing Significant damage.
"Quick, Amoonguss, another Clear Smog" Steve called, and Amoonguss blew a cloud of white poison at Simisear, but Simisear was able to sacrifice the Substitute to avoid stat reset.
"Now Simisear, end this with Fire Punch" Hilda called, and Simisear cloaked his fist with flames and KO'ed the Amoonguss with the punch.
"Well done, excellent strategy," Steve said as he withdrew Amoonguss, to which Hilda replied "Thanks"
Conclusion: Reuniclus and Simisear wins

Back with Ash and Drayden
"She must have taken a lot of notes about your various Gym Battles Ash, if she's able to utilise Status moves like this" Drayden said, to which Ash replied "Well, yeah, she did watch my Gym Battles. To be fair, we also discussed tactics before and after each Gym Battle. It's how I was able to improve myself even more"
"You two truly are an incredible duo. You considered taking her on more, permanently?" Drayden asked, and Ash, blushing slightly, replied "I've thought about it. But nothing concrete yet"
"Alright" Drayden replied.

Back to Hilda
"Alright, the next trainer is right over there," Steve said, to which Hilda nodded, and headed for the other PKMN Ranger.
When she reaches the female PKMN Ranger, Lena, she said "I'm Number seven, I'll beat you down" Lena said, to which Hilda replied "We'll see about that"
"That we shall, Floatzel, let's go" Lena replied, and Floatzel materialised.
"I have an idea. Reuniclus, let's show them what we can do" Hilda called, and Stoutland materialised.

Battle: Reuniclus and Mienshao VS Floatzel and Lucario
"Floatzel, use Aqua Tail" Lena called, and Floatzel cloaked its tail with water and struck Reuniclus, dealing Moderate damage.
"Reuniclus, use Trick Room" Hilda called, and Reuniclus' eyes glowed blue, and a room generated around them that flips Speed tiers.
"Now, Reuniclus, use Recover" Hilda called, and Reuniclus regenerated its cells to restore half its max HP.
"Floatzel, use Whirlpool" Lena called, and Floatzel generated a whirlpool, and shot it at Reuniclus, dealing Slight damage.
Reuniclus then took Slight damage from the Whirlpool.
"Reuniclus, use Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus sent a burst of psionic energy at Floatzel, dealing Considerable damage.
"Floatzel, again, use Aqua Tail" Lena called, and once again, Floatzel's tail was cloaked in water and struck Reuniclus, dealing Moderate damage.
Reuniclus then took Slight damage from Whirlpool.
"Reuniclus, Recover again" Hilda called, and Reuniclus once again regenerated its cells to restore half its max HP.
"Aqua Tail again Floatzel" Lena called, and Floatzel's tail is covered with water, and struck Reuniclus, dealing Moderate damage.
Reuniclus takes Slight damage again from Whirlpool.
"Reuniclus, end this with Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus unleashed a burst of psionic energy at Floatzel, KO'ing it.
"Floatzel, return," Lema said, and Floatzel was withdrawn. Hilda and Reuniclus cheered, but Trick Room then fell.
"Alright, we're going to have to be careful with this turn, depending on who Lema sends in," Hilda said, to which Reuniclus nodded.
"Alright. Lucario, let's do this" Lema said, and Lucario materialised.

"Alright. Reuniclus, return" Hilda said, and Reuniclus was withdrawn. Hilda continued with "Now Mienshao, let's show them what we can do" and Mienshao materialised.

With Ash and Drayden
"That Lucario will either not Flinch after a Fake Our, or will move faster after a Fake Out," Ash said, to which Drayden nodded and said, "I know which one it is, but does Hilda?"
"Unlikely" Ash replied, keen to see how Hilda handles this.

Back with Hilda
"Mienshao, use Fake Out" Hilda called, and Mienshao cloaked its whip arms with white energy and clapped Lucario, dealing Slight damage. Not only does this cause Lucario to Flinch, but it also triggers Lucario's Steadfast Ability boosted its Speed.
"Lucario, use Aura Sphere" Lema called, and Lucario generated, then shot a ball of blue energy at Mienshao, dealing Significant damage.
"Whoops, guess Lucario shouldn't have Fake Out used on them. Noted. Mienshao, strike with Drain Punch" Hilda called, and Mienshao cloaked its arm with orange energy and punched Lucario, both of them glowing, dealing Massive damage and restoring a Considerable amount.
"Lucario, Aura Sphere again" Lema called, and Lucario shot another ball of blue energy at Mienshao, dealing Significant damage.
"End this, use Drain Punch again" Hilda called, and once again Miensho cloaked its arm with orange energy and punched Lucario, both of them glowing, KO'ing Lucario and restoring a Slight amount of Mienshao's health.
"Lucario, return," Lema said, and Lucario was withdrawn.
Conclusion: Reuniclus and Mienshao win

When Hilda withdraws Mienshao, its Regenerator Ability restored a third of its max health.
"Good work Hilda, now, onto your next challenge," Lema said as she pointed to the next trainer. Hilda nodded, said "Thanks" and heads for the next trainer, having learned something about Lucario in that battle.

Back with Ash and Drayden
"Reuniclus and Mienshao are totally carrying Hilda in this battle," Drayden said, to which Ash replied "They're definitely helping, though her skill is showing through"
"Agreed" Drayden responded.

Back with Hilda
Hilda reaches the next trainer, revealed to be a Hiker named Doug.
"I'm number eight, getting tired Hilda?" Doug asked, to which Hilda replied "Nope, my team's still pretty fresh and ready to go"
"Good. Boldore, let's do this" Doug said, and Boldore materialised. Hilda nodded, then responded "Samurott, let's show them what we can do" and Samurott materialised.

Battle: Samurott and Mienshao VS Boldore and Aggron
"Samurott, use Surf" Hilda called, and Samurott unleashed a wave of water, mixed in with a blue aura of Torrent, and struck Boldore, it's Sturdy Ability leaving it with 1 HP.
"Boldore, use Rock Slide" Doug called, and Boldore summoned a bunch of rocks to throw at Samurott, KO'ing it.
"No, Samurott, return, I'm sorry," Hilda said, and Samurott was withdrawn.
"Right. Next, Mienshao, let's show them what we can do" Hilda said, and Mienshao materialised.

"Mienshao, use Fake Out" Hilda called, and Mienshao cloaked its arm with white energy and struck Boldore, KO'ing it.
"Boldore, return," Doug said, and Boldore was withdrawn.
"Now, Aggron, let's go," Doug said, and Aggron materialised.

"Mienshao, use Drain Punch" Hilda called, and Mienshao cloaked its arm with orange energy and went to punch Aggron, but Doug was ready.
"Aggron, Protect yourself" Doug called, and Mienshao bounced off the barrier Aggron created.
"Strike again" Hilda called, and Mienshao once again cloaked its arm with orange energy, and struck Aggron, they both glowed, and Aggron took Considerable damage, while Mienshao all but fully healed.
"Now Aggron, use Iron Tail" Doug called, and Aggron's tail was cloaked in silver energy, and slammed into Mienshao, doing Considerable damage.
"Now Mienshao, use Drain Punch again" Hilda called, and Mienshao's arm cloaked with Orange energy again, struck, they both glowed again, and Aggron was almost KO'ed, while Mienshao restored a Moderate amount.
"Another Iron Tail Aggron" Doug called, and Aggron once again cloaked its tail with silver energy, and slammed it into Mienshao, dealing Significant damage.
"End this Mienshao, another Drain Punch" Hilda called, and Mienshao's arm glowed orange again, struck Aggron again, they glowed, and Aggron was KO'ed, while Mienshao restored a Slight amount of health.
"Aggron, return," Doug said, and Aggron was withdrawn.
Conclusion: Mienshao wins

Hilda withdrew Mienshao again, which activated its Regenerator Ability again, restoring a third of its max health.

"Well done Hilda, now for your next challenge," Doug said, and he pointed Hilda to the next trainer.
"Thanks," Hilda said, and she made her way to the next trainer.

The next trainer is an Ace Trainer, Miki, who said "I'm number nine. I'm crushing you"
"We'll see about that" Hilda replied, to which Miki nodded, then said "Scolipede, let's do this" and Scolipede materialised.
"Well then.

Simisear, let's show them what we can do" Hilda said, and Simisear materialised.

Battle: Simisear and Reuniclus VS Scolipede and Arcanine
"Scolipede, use Rock Climb" Miki called, and Scolipede summoned a line of rocks between them, glowed its legs with white energy, and charged into Simisear, dealing Considerable damage and knocking Simisear into Blaze range.
As a result, Simisear's body glowed with orange energy from Blaze.
"Simisear, use Fire Punch" Hilda called, and Simisear cloaked his fist with flames, additionally with an orange aura around it, and charged in, Punching Scolipede, KO'ing it in one hit.
"Woohoo! Simisear, that was awesome!" Hilda called, and Simissear cheered happily, as Miki withdrew Scolipede.

"And now, Arcanine, let's go" Miki called, and Arcanine materialised. Arcanine's Intimidate Ability then cut Simisear's Attack.
"Since SImisear was Intimidated, and is low on health, I'd better return him," Hilda said, and she withdrew Simisear. She continued with "Now Reuniclus, let's show them what we can do" and Reuniclus materialised.

With Ash and Drayden
"You know what I just thought of?" Ash asked, to which Drayden replied "What is it?"
"Hilda's Reuniclus is out of Trick Rooms"
"That it is. It's been used five times" Drayden replied, nodding.

Back with Hilda
"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed" Miki called, and Arcanine cloaked itself with white energy, and dashed into Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"Arcanine, strike with Fire Fang" Miki called, and Arcanine charged again, cloaking its fangs with flames, and bit Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"Reuniclus, use Pain Split" Hilda called, and Reuniclus shot a beam of white energy at Arcanine. They attached, then did Considerable damage to Arcanine, while Reuniclus healed a Considerable amount.
"Arcanine, strike again with Fire Fang" Miki called, and Arcanine again cloaked its fangs with flames and bit Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"Reuniclus, use Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus unleashed a burst of Psionic energy at Arcanine, dealing Moderate damage.
"Reuniclus, Recover again" Hilda called, and Reuniclus regenerated its cells to restore half its max HP.
"Arcanine, another Fire Fang" Miki called, and Arcanine once again cloaked its fangs with flames and bit Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"End this Reuniclus, Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus unleashed a burst of psionic energy, KO'ing Arcanine.
"Aw man, return Arcanine," Miki said, as Arcanine was withdrawn. Hilda and Reuniclus both cheered.
Conclusion: Simisear and Reuniclus win.

"Well done Hilda, that Simisear struck hard," Miki said, to which Hilda nodded, and replied, "Thanks, he's gotten really strong".
Miki nodded, then pointed Hilda in the direction of the next trainer, which she followed.

The next trainer she reached was a Black Belt named Benjamin.
"I'm Number ten, getting tired?" Benjamin asked, to which Hilda replied "Not really, I'm still ready to go"
"Then let's go. Gurdurr, let's do this" Benjamin replied, and Gurdurr materialised, to which Hilda replied "Now Reuniclus, let's show them what we can do" and Reuniclus materialised.

Battle: Reuniclus, Stoutland and Mienshao VS Gurdurr and Scrafty
"Gurdurr, use Stone Edge" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr generated a bunch of sharp stones, and threw them at Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"Reuniclus, use Recover" Hilda called, and Reuniclus regenerated cells to restore half its max HP.
"Gurdurr, use Stone Edge again" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr once again generated stones, and threw them at Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"Now Reuniclus, use Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus unleashed a burst of psionic energy at Gurdurr, dealing Severe damage.
"Gurdurr, use Stone Edge again" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr generated the stones and threw them at Reuniclus again, and did Minor damage.
"End this Reuniclus, use Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus unleashed a burst of psionic energy at Gurdurr, KO'ing it.
"Argh! Gurdurr, return" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr was withdrawn, while Hilda and Reuniclus both cheered.
"Now, Scrafty, let's do this" Benjamin called, and Scrafty materialised.
"I'll do likewise. Reuniclus, return" Hilda said, and Reuniclus was withdrawn. Then, Hilda added "Now Mienshao, let's show them what we can do" and Mienshao materialised.

"Alright, Mienshao, use Fake Out" Hilda called, and Mienshao's arms glowed white, and it clapped Scrafty, dealing Slight damage and causing Scrafty to Flinch.
"Now, Mienshao, strike again, use Brick Break" Hilda called, surprising Benjamin, who said "Wait, I thought Mienshao didn't know any other Fighting-type attacks," Benjamin said, as Mienshao's arm glowed in an orange blade, and struck Scrafty, dealing Considerable damage.
"Mienshao's got a few Fighting-type attacks up its sleeve. I also saw Samurott teaching Mienshao to use the move" Hilda replied as Benjamin called "Now Scrafty, respond with Rock Climb" and Scrafty called a bunch of rocks between them, angled, and charged into Mienshao, dealing Considerable damage.
"Oh, man. I cannot let Mienshao go down here, Mienshao, return" Hilda said, and Mienshao was withdrawn, its Regenerator ability restored a third of its max health.
"Now Stoutland, let's show them what we can do" Hilda continued, and Stoutland materialised.
"Now Scrafty, use Crunch" Benjamin called, and Scrafty cloaked its fangs with anti-positive energy, and bit Stoutland, dealing Considerable damage.
"Stoutland, respond with Return" Hilda called, and Stoutland covered itself with heart-shaped, white energy, and charged into Scrafty, dealing Moderate damage.
"Scrafty, use Crunch again" Benjamin called, and Scrafty's fangs glowed again with Anti-Positive energy, and bit Stoutland, dealing Moderate damage.
"One shot left. Stoutland, use Reversal" Hilda called, and Stoutland cloaked itself in inverted orange energy and struck Scrafty, KO'ing it.
"Scrafty, get back, dang," Benjamin said, and Scrafty was withdrawn.
"Woohoo, congratulations Stoutland" Hilda called, and Stoutland loudly barked, evidently ecstatic.
Conclusion: Stoutland, Mienshao and Reuniclus wins

"Wait, you Scrafty didn't know a Fighting-type attack?" Hilda asked, to which Benjamin realised "Not at the level Scrafty's at"
"Noted" Hilda replied. Benjamin then pointed Hilda in the direction of the second-to-last challenger, and Hilda headed off to him.

When she arrived, there was an Ace Trainer, Tom, waiting for her.
"I'm your second-last opponent. Can you win this?" Tom asked, to which Hilda replied "Yes, I reckon I'll win this"
"We'll see about that. Magmar, let's go" Tom said, and Magmar materialised. Hilda nodded, then responded "Simisear, let's show them what we can do" and Simisear materialised.

Battle: Simisear and Mienshao VS Magmar and Mamoswine
"Simisear, use Rock Slide" Hida called, and Simisear sent a bunch of rocks at Magmar, dealing Significant damage.
"Magmar, finish that SImisear, use Flamethrower," Tom said, and Magmar shot a stream of fire at Simisear, almost KO'ing Simisear.
"Wow, that was close. Simisear, use Rock Slide" Hilda called, and Simisear summoned a bunch of rocks and threw them at Magmar, and KO'ed it.
"Grr, Magmar, return," Tom said, and Magmar was withdrawn.
"Now Mamoswine, let's go" Tom called, and Mamoswine materialised.
"Simisear, take that Mamoswine down with Fire Punch" Hilda called, and Simisear cloaked its fist with flames, and an orange aura, and punches Mamoswine, dealing Severe damage.
"Finish this off, Earthquake" Tom called, and Mamoswine unleashed several waves of light brown energy at Simisear, KO'ing it.
"Grr, Simisear, you did great, now return," Hilda said, and Simisear was withdrawn.
"Now, Mienshao. let's show them what we can do" Hilda said, and Mienshao materialised.
"Now Mienshao, end this with Brick Break" Hilda called, and Mienshao cloaked its arm with an orange blade and struck, KO'ing Mamoswine.
"Aw man, you beat me," Tom said as he withdrew Mamoswine.
Conclusion: Mienshao wins

Hilda withdraws Mienshao again, and Renegerator activates, healing Mienshao by a third of its max health.

"Only one battle left Hilda. And it's another Battle Girl" Tom said, pointing to her. Hilda nodded and headed for the final trainer.

When she arrived, the Battle Girl, Tiffany, said "This is your final battle. Can you defeat me?"
"I reckon I can," Hilda said, to which Tiffany nodded, and said "Gurdurr, let's go" and Gurdurr materialised.
"Alright. Reuniclus, let's show them what we can do" Hilda replied, and Reuniclus materialised.

Battle; Reuniclus VS Gurdurr and Mienshao
"Gurdurr, use Stone Edge," Tiffany said, and Gurdurr summoned a bunch of stones to throw at Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"Reuniclus, use Pain Split" Hilda called, and Reuniclus sent a beam of white energy between them, which di Considerable damage to Gurdurr and restoring a Significant amount of health.
"Another Stone Edge" Tiffany called, and Gurdurr summoned more stones, and struck Reuniclus, dealing Minor damage.
"End this Reuniclus, use Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus unleashed a burst of psionic energy, KO'ing Gurdurr.
"Gurdurr's down, but let's see how you handle my Mienshao" Tiffany said as she withdrew Gurdurr, then sent Mienshao in.

"Now Mienshao, use U-Turn" Tiffany called, and Mienshao covered itself with teal energy, and charged into Reuniclus, making a U-Shape and dealing Moderate damage.
"Reuniclus, use Psychic" Hilda called, and Reuniclus sent a burst of Psionic energy into Mienshao, dealing Massive damage.
"End this Mienshao, use U-Turn" Tiffany called, and Mienshao once again covered itself with teal energy and charged into Reuniclus, KO'ing it.
"Reuniclus, return, you did a wonderful job," Hilda said as Reuniclus was withdrawn. Hilda then added "Now Mienshao, let's show them what we can do" and her own Mienshao materialised.
'End this Mienshao, use Fake Out" Hilda called,

and Mienshao cloaked its arms with white energy and clapped Tiffany's Mienshao, KO'ing it.
"Mienshao, return," Tiffany said, and Mienshao was withdrawn. Mienshao and Hilda cheer, as does Ash.
Conclusion: Mienshao wins

"Well done, the challenge is complete, you're automatically entered into the Pokémon League Tournament," Tiffany said, and Hilda replied by cheering.
"Wait there until Ash gets through his, and we'll meet up, then head to the Tournament" Drayden called, to which Hilda nodded by giving him a thumbs up.

With Ash and Drayden
"This is it, Ash. It's now your turn" Drayden said, to which Ash nodded, and said, "I'm ready". After the Pokémon of the trainers were healed, Ash started on Route 23, ready for his own challenge.
